Wa A sh -Sh am si Wa Đ uĥāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 1).
091.001 By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُ حَاهَا
Wa A l-Q amar i 'Idh ā Talāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 2).
091.002 By the Moon as she follows him;
وَالْقَ مَرِ إِذَا تَلاَهَا
Wa A n -Nahā r i 'Idh ā Jallāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 3).
091.003 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;
وَالنَّ هَا رِ إِذَا جَلاَّهَا
Wa A l-Lay li 'Idh ā Yagh sh āhā (Ash -Sh am s: 4).
091.004 By the Night as it conceals it;
وَاللَّيْ لِ إِذَا يَغْ شَاهَا
Wa A s-Samā 'i Wa Mā Banāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 5).
091.005 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;
وَالسَّمَا ءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا
Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Ţ aĥāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 6).
091.006 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:
وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا طَ حَاهَا
Wa Nafsin Wa Mā Sawwāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 7).
091.007 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا
Fa'alhamahā Fujūra hā Wa Taq sh -Sh am s: 8).
091.008 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَ هَا وَتَقْ وَاهَا
Q ad 'Aflaĥa Man Zakkāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 9).
091.009 Truly he succeeds that purifies it,
قَ دْ أَفْلَحَ مَن ْ زَكَّاهَا
Wa Q ad Kh ā ba Man Dassāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 10).
091.010 And he fails that corrupts it!
وَقَ دْ خَ ا بَ مَن ْ دَسَّاهَا
Kadh dh abat Th amū du Biţ agh sh -Sh am s: 11).
091.011 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُو دُ بِطَ غْ وَاهَا
'Idh i A n ba`ath a 'Ash q āhā (Ash -Sh am s: 12).
091.012 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).
إِذِ ا نْ بَعَثَ أَشْقَ اهَا
Faq ā la Lahum Ra sū lu A ll āhi Nāq ata A ll āhi Wa Suq sh -Sh am s: 13).
091.013 But the Apostle of God said to them: "It is a She-camel of God! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"
فَقَ ا لَ لَهُمْ رَ سُو لُ ا للَّ هِ نَاقَ ةَ ا للَّ هِ وَسُقْ يَاهَا
Fakadh dh abū hu Fa`aq arūhā Fadam dama `Alayhim Ra bbuhum Bidh an bihim Fasawwāhā (Ash -Sh am s: 14).
091.014 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
فَكَذَّبُو هُ فَعَقَ رُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَ بُّهُمْ بِذَنْ بِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا
Wa Lā Yakh ā fu `Uq sh -Sh am s: 15).
091.015 And for Him is no fear of its consequences.
وَلاَ يَخَ ا فُ عُقْ بَاهَا
