Wa A s-Samā 'i Dh ā ti A l-Burū j i (Al-Burūj : 1).
085.001 By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;
وَالسَّمَا ءِ ذَا تِ ا لْبُرُوجِ
Wa A l-Yaw mi A l-Maw`ū d i (Al-Burūj : 2).
085.002 By the promised Day (of Judgment);
وَالْيَوْ مِ ا لْمَوْعُودِ
Wa Sh āhidin Wa Mash /hū d in (Al-Burūj : 3).
085.003 By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
Q utila 'Aş ĥā bu A l-'Ukh ū d i (Al-Burūj : 4).
085.004 Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),
قُ تِلَ أَصْ حَا بُ ا لأُخْ دُودِ
An -Nā r i Dh ā ti A l-Waq ū d i (Al-Burūj : 5).
085.005 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:
ا ل نّ َا رِ ذَا تِ ا لْوَقُ ودِ
'Idh Hum `Alayhā Q u`ū d un (Al-Burūj : 6).
085.006 Behold! they sat over against the (fire),
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُ عُودٌ
Wa Hum `Alá Mā Yaf`alū na Bil-Mu'uminī na Sh uhū d un (Al-Burūj : 7).
085.007 And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.
وَهُمْ عَلَى مَا يَفْعَلُو نَ بِا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ شُهُودٌ
Wa Mā Naq amū Minhum 'Illā 'An Yu'uminū Bill āhi A l-`Azī zi A l-Ĥamī d i (Al-Burūj : 8).
085.008 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in God, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-
وَمَا نَقَ مُوا مِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ أَن ْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِا للَّ هِ ا لْعَزِي زِ ا لْحَمِيدِ
Al-Ladh ī Lahu Mulku A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi ۚ Wa A ll āhu `Alá Kulli Sh ay 'in Sh ahī d un (Al-Burūj : 9).
085.009 Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And God is Witness to all things.
ا لَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ ۚ وَا للَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ شَهِيدٌ
'Inn a A l-Ladh ī na Fatanū A l-Mu'uminī na Wa A l-Mu'uminā ti Th umm a Lam Yatūbū Falahum `Adh ā bu Jahann ama Wa Lahum `Adh ā bu A l-Ĥar ī q i (Al-Burūj : 10).
085.010 Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.
إِنّ َ ا لَّذِي نَ فَتَنُوا ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ وَا لْمُؤْمِنَا تِ ثُمّ َ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَا بُ جَهَنَّ مَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَا بُ ا لْحَرِ يقِ
'Inn a A l-Ladh ī na 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū A ş -Ş āliĥā ti Lahum Jann ā tun Taj r ī Min Taĥtihā A l-'Anhā ru ۚ Dh ālika A l-Faw zu A l-Kabī r u (Al-Burūj : 11).
085.011 For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),
إِنّ َ ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا ا ل صَّ الِحَا تِ لَهُمْ جَنّ َا تٌ تَجْ رِ ي مِن ْ تَحْتِهَا ا لأَنْ هَا رُ ۚ ذَلِكَ ا لْفَوْ زُ ا لْكَبِيرُ
'Inn a Baţ sh a Ra bbika Lash adī d un (Al-Burūj : 12).
085.012 Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.
إِنّ َ بَطْ شَ رَ بِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
'Inn ahu Huwa Yub di'u Wa Yu`ī d u (Al-Burūj : 13).
085.013 It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).
إِنَّ هُ هُوَ يُبْ دِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
Wa Huwa A l-Gh ū ru A l-Wadū d u (Al-Burūj : 14).
085.014 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,
وَهُوَ ا لْغَ فُو رُ ا لْوَدُودُ
Dh ū A l-`Arsh i A l-Majī d u (Al-Burūj : 15).
085.015 Lord of the Throne of Glory,
ذُو ا لْعَرْشِ ا لْمَجِيدُ
Fa``ā lun Limā Yur ī d u (Al-Burūj : 16).
085.016 Doer (without let) of all that He intends.
فَعَّا ل ٌ لِمَا يُرِ يدُ
Hal 'Atā ka Ĥadīth u A l-Junū d i (Al-Burūj : 17).
085.017 Has the story reached thee, of the forces-
هَلْ أَتَا كَ حَدِي ثُ ا لْجُنُودِ
Fir `aw na Wa Th amū d a (Al-Burūj : 18).
085.018 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?
فِر ْعَوْ نَ وَثَمُودَ
Bali A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū Fī Takdh ī b in (Al-Burūj : 19).
085.019 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!
بَلِ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ
Wa A ll āhu Min Warā 'ihim Muĥīţ un (Al-Burūj : 20).
085.020 But God doth encompass them from behind!
وَا للَّ هُ مِن ْ وَرَا ئِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ
Bal Huwa Q ur'ā nun Majī d un (Al-Burūj : 21).
085.021 Day, this is a Glorious Qur'an,
بَلْ هُوَ قُ رْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ
Fī Law 3in Maĥfūžin (Al-Burūj : 22).
