`Abasa Wa Tawallá (`abasa: 1).
080.001 (The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
'An Jā'ahu Al-'A`má (`abasa: 2).
080.002 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
Wa Mā Yudrīka La`allahu Yazzakká (`abasa: 3).
080.003 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-
'Aw Yadhdhakkaru Fatanfa`ahu Adh-Dhikrá (`abasa: 4).
080.004 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
'Ammā Mani Astaghná (`abasa: 5).
080.005 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,
Fa'anta Lahu Taşaddá (`abasa: 6).
080.006 To him dost thou attend;
Wa Mā `Alayka 'Allā Yazzakká (`abasa: 7).
080.007 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
Wa 'Ammā Man Jā'aka Yas`á (`abasa: 8).
080.008 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
Wa Huwa Yakhshá (`abasa: 9).
080.009 And with fear (in his heart),
Fa'anta `Anhu Talahhá (`abasa: 10).
080.010 Of him wast thou unmindful.
Kallā 'Innahā Tadhkirahun (`abasa: 11).
080.011 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ |
Faman Shā'a Dhakarahu (`abasa: 12).
080.012 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
Fī Şuĥufin Mukarramahin (`abasa: 13).
080.013 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
Marfū`atin Muţahharahin (`abasa: 14).
080.014 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
Bi'ayd99 Safarahin (`abasa: 15).
080.015 (Written) by the hands of scribes-
Kirāmin Bararahin (`abasa: 16).
080.016 Honourable and Pious and Just.
Qutila Al-'Insānu Mā 'Akfarahu (`abasa: 17).
080.017 Woe to man! What hath made him reject God;
Min 'Ayyi Shay'in Khalaqahu (`abasa: 18).
080.018 From what stuff hath He created him?
Min Nuţfatin Khalaqahu Faqaddarahu (`abasa: 19).
080.019 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
Thumma As-Sabīla Yassarahu (`abasa: 20).
080.020 Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
Thumma 'Amātahu Fa'aqbarahu (`abasa: 21).
080.021 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
Thumma 'Idhā Shā'a 'Ansharahu (`abasa: 22).
080.022 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
Kallā Lammā Yaqđi Mā 'Amarahu (`abasa: 23).
080.023 By no means hath he fulfilled what God hath commanded him.
Falyanžuri Al-'Insānu 'Ilá Ţa`āmihi (`abasa: 24).
080.024 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
فَلْيَنْظُرِ الإِنسَانُ إِلَى طَعَامِهِ |
'Annā Şababnā Al-Mā'a Şabbāan (`abasa: 25).
080.025 For that We pour forth water in abundance,
Thumma Shaqaqnā Al-'Arđa Shaqqāan (`abasa: 26).
080.026 And We split the earth in fragments,
Fa'anbatnā Fīhā Ĥabbāan (`abasa: 27).
080.027 And produce therein corn,
Wa `Inabāan Wa Qađbāan (`abasa: 28).
080.028 And Grapes and nutritious plants,
Wa Zaytūnāan Wa Nakhlāan (`abasa: 29).
080.029 And Olives and Dates,
Wa Ĥadā'iqa Ghulbāan (`abasa: 30).
080.030 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
Wa Fākihatan Wa 'Abbāan (`abasa: 31).
080.031 And fruits and fodder,-
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum (`abasa: 32).
080.032 For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aş-Şākhkhahu (`abasa: 33).
080.033 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,-
Yawma Yafirru Al-Mar'u Min 'Akhīhi (`abasa: 34).
080.034 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
Wa 'Ummihi Wa 'Abīhi (`abasa: 35).
080.035 And from his mother and his father,
Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa Banīhi (`abasa: 36).
080.036 And from his wife and his children.
Likulli Amri'in Minhum Yawma'idhin Sha'nun Yughnīhi (`abasa: 37).
080.037 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Musfirahun (`abasa: 38).
080.038 Some faces that Day will be beaming,
Đāĥikatun Mustabshirahun (`abasa: 39).
080.039 Laughing, rejoicing.
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin `Alayhā Ghabarahun (`abasa: 40).
080.040 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,
Tarhaquhā Qatarahun (`abasa: 41).
080.041 Blackness will cover them:
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ |
'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Kafaratu Al-Fajarahu (`abasa: 42).
080.042 Such will be the Rejecters of God, the doers of iniquity.
