Yā 'Ayyuhā A l-Muzzamm ilu (Al-Muzzamm il: 1).
073.001 O thou folded in garments!
يَا أَيُّهَا ا لْمُزَّمِّ لُ
Q umi A l-Lay la 'Illā Q alīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 2).
073.002 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,-
قُ مِ ا ل لَّيْ لَ إِلاَّ قَ لِيلاً
Niş fahu 'Aw A n q uş Minhu Q alīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 3).
073.003 Half of it,- or a little less,
نِصْ فَهُ أَوْ ا نْ قُ صْ مِنْ هُ قَ لِيلاً
'Aw Zid `Alay hi Wa Ra ttili A l-Q ur'ā na Tartīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 4).
073.004 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones.
أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْ هِ وَرَ تِّلِ ا لْقُ رْآنَ تَرْتِيلاً
'Inn ā Sanulq ī `Alay ka Q awlāan Th aq īlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 5).
073.005 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message.
إِنَّ ا سَنُلْقِ ي عَلَيْ كَ قَ وْلاً ثَقِ يلاً
'Inn a Nāsh i'ata A l-Lay li Hiya 'Ash addu Waţ ā an Wa 'Aq Q īlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 6).
073.006 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise).
إِنّ َ نَاشِئَةَ ا ل لَّيْ لِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطْ ئاً وَأَقْ وَمُ قِ يلاً
'Inn a Laka Fī A nn ahā r i Sab ĥāan Ţ awīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 7).
073.007 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties:
إِنّ َ لَكَ فِي ا نَّ هَا رِ سَبْ حاً طَ وِيلاً
Wa A dh kur A Ra bbika Wa Tabattal 'Ilay hi Tab tīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 8).
073.008 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly.
وَاذْكُرْ ا رَ بِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْ هِ تَبْ تِيلاً
Ra bbu A l-Mash r iq i Wa A l-Magh r ibi Lā 'Ilā ha 'Illā Huwa Fa A kh dh /hu Wa Kīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 9).
073.009 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs.
رَ بُّ ا لْمَشْرِ قِ وَا لْمَغْ رِ بِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ فَاتَّخِ ذْهُ وَكِيلاً
Wa A ş bir `Alá Mā Yaq ūlū na Wa A hjurhum Haj rā an Jamīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 10).
073.010 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity).
وَاصْ بِر ْ عَلَى مَا يَقُ ولُو نَ وَا هْجُرْهُمْ هَجْ راً جَمِيلاً
Wa Dh arnī Wa A l-Mukadh dh ibī na 'Ūlī A n -Na`mati Wa Mahhilhum Q alīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 11).
073.011 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while.
وَذَرْنِي وَا لْمُكَذِّبِي نَ أُ ولِي ا ل نَّ عْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَ لِيلاً
'Inn a Ladaynā 'An kālāan Wa Jaĥīmāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 12).
073.012 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them),
إِنّ َ لَدَيْنَا أَن كَالاً وَجَحِيماً
Wa Ţ a`āmāan Dh ā Gh ş ş atin Wa `Adh ābāan 'Alīmāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 13).
073.013 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous.
وَطَ عَاماً ذَا غُ صَّ ةٍ وَعَذَاباً أَلِيماً
Yaw ma Tarjufu A l-'Arđu Wa A l-Jibā lu Wa Kānati A l-Jibā lu Kath ībāan Mahīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 14).
073.014 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down.
يَوْ مَ تَرْجُفُ ا لأَرْضُ وَا لْجِبَا لُ وَكَانَتِ ا لْجِبَا لُ كَثِيباً مَهِيلاً
'Inn ā 'Arsalnā 'Ilaykum Ra sūlāan Sh āhidāan `Alaykum Kamā 'Arsalnā 'Ilá Fir `aw na Ra sūlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 15).
073.015 We have sent to you, (O men!) an apostle, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent an apostle to Pharaoh.
إِنَّ ا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ رَ سُولاً شَاهِداً عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى فِر ْعَوْ نَ رَ سُولاً
Fa`aş á Fir `aw nu A r-Ra sū la Fa'akh dh nā hu 'Akh dh āan Wabīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 16).
073.016 But Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment.
فَعَصَ ى فِر ْعَوْ نُ ا ل رَّ سُو لَ فَأَخَ ذْنَا هُ أَخْ ذاً وَبِيلاً
Fakay fa Tattaq ū na 'In Kafartum Yawmāan Yaj `alu A l-Wildā na Sh ībāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 17).
073.017 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (God), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?-
فَكَيْ فَ تَتَّقُ و نَ إِن ْ كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْماً يَجْ عَلُ ا لْوِلْدَا نَ شِيباً
As-Samā 'u Mun faţ ir un Bihi ۚ Kā na Wa`duhu Maf`ūlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 18).
073.018 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished.
ا ل سَّمَا ءُ مُنْ فَطِ رٌ بِهِ ۚ كَا نَ وَعْدُهُ مَفْعُولاً
'Inn a Hadh ihi Tadh kira tun ۖ Faman Sh ā 'a A kh dh a 'Ilá Ra bbihi Sabīlāan (Al-Muzzamm il: 19).
073.019 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord!
إِنّ َ هَذِهِ تَذْكِرَ ةٌ ۖ فَمَن ْ شَا ءَ ا خَ ذَ إِلَى رَ بِّهِ سَبِيلاً
'Inn a Ra bbaka Ya`lamu 'Ann aka Taq ū mu 'Ad ná Min Th uluth ayi A l-Lay li Wa Niş fahu Wa Th uluth ahu Wa Ţ ā 'ifatun Mina A l-Ladh ī na Ma`aka ۚ Wa A ll āhu Yuq addiru A l-Lay la Wa A n -Nahā ra ۚ `Alima 'An Lan Tuĥş ū hu Fatā ba `Alaykum ۖ Fāq ra 'ū Mā Tayassa ra Mina A l-Q ur'ā ni ۚ `Alima 'An Sayakū nu Min kum Marđá ۙ Wa 'Ākh ū na Yađr ibū na Fī A l-'Arđi Yab tagh ū na Min Fađli A ll ā hi ۙ Wa 'Ākh ū na Yuq ātilū na Fī Sabī li A ll ā hi ۖ Fāq ra 'ū Mā Tayassa ra Minhu ۚ Wa 'Aq īmū A ş -Ş alāata Wa 'Ātū A z-Zakāata Wa 'Aq r iđū A ll aha Q arđāan Ĥasanāan ۚ Wa Mā Tuq addimū Li'n fusikum Min Kh y r in Tajidū hu `In da A ll āhi Huwa Kh rā an Wa 'A`žama 'Aj rā an ۚ Wa A gh A ll aha ۖ 'Inn a A ll āha Gh ū ru n Ra ĥī mun (Al-Muzzamm il: 20).
073.020 Thy Lord doth know that thou standest forth (to prayer) nigh two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so doth a party of those with thee. But God doth appoint night and day in due measure He knoweth that ye are unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (in mercy): read ye, therefore, of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knoweth that there may be (some) among you in ill-health; others travelling through the land, seeking of God's bounty; yet others fighting in God's Cause, read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you); and establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and loan to God a Beautiful Loan. And whatever good ye send forth for your souls ye shall find it in God's Presence,- yea, better and greater, in Reward and seek ye the Grace of God: for God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
إِنّ َ رَ بَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّ كَ تَقُ و مُ أَدْ نَى مِن ْ ثُلُثَيِ ا ل لَّيْ لِ وَنِصْ فَهُ وَثُلُثَهُ وَطَ ا ئِفَةٌ مِنَ ا لَّذِي نَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَا للَّهُ يُقَ دِّر ُا ل لَّيْ لَ وَا ل نَّ هَا رَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن ْ لَن ْ تُحْصُ و هُ فَتَا بَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَاقْ رَ ءُ وا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ا لْقُ رْآنِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن ْ سَيَكُو نُ مِنْ كُمْ مَرْضَ ى ۙ وَآخَ رُو نَ يَضْ رِ بُو نَ فِي ا لأَرْضِ يَبْ تَغُ و نَ مِن ْ فَضْ لِ ا للَّ هِ ۙ وَآخَ رُو نَ يُقَ اتِلُو نَ فِي سَبِي لِ ا للَّ هِ ۖ فَاقْ رَ ءُ وا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْ هُ ۚ وَأَقِ يمُوا ا ل صَّ لاَةَ وَآتُوا ا ل زَّكَا ةَ وَأَقْ رِ ضُ وا ا للَّ هَ قَ رْض اً حَسَناً ۚ وَمَا تُقَ دِّمُوا لِأنْ فُسِكُمْ مِن ْ خَ يْ ر ٍ تَجِدُو هُ عِنْ دَ ا للَّ هِ هُوَ خَ يْراً وَأَعْظَ مَ أَجْ راً ۚ وَا غْ فِرُوا ا للَّ هَ ۖ إِنّ َ ا للَّ هَ غَ فُو رٌ رَ حِيمٌ
