n ۚ Wa Al-Qalami Wa Mā Yasţurūna (Al-Qalam: 1). 068.001 Nun. By the Pen and the (Record) which (men) write,- نُون ۚ ‌وَ‌الْ‍‍‍‍قَ‍‍لَمِ ‌وَمَا‌ يَسْ‍‍طُ‍‍رُ‌ونَ
Mā 'Anta Bini`mati Rabbika Bimajnūnin (Al-Qalam: 2). 068.002 Thou art not, by the Grace of thy Lord, mad or possessed. مَ‍‍ا أَ‌نْ‍‍تَ بِنِعْمَةِ ‌‍‍‍رَبِّكَ بِمَ‍‍جْ‍‍نُونٍ
Wa 'Inna Laka La'ajan Ghayra Mamnūnin (Al-Qalam: 3). 068.003 Nay, verily for thee is a Reward unfailing: وَ‌إِنّ‌َ لَكَ لَأَجْ‍‍ر‌اً‌ غَ‍‍يْ‍رَ‌ مَمْنُونٍ
Wa 'Innaka La`alá Khuluqin `Ažīmin (Al-Qalam: 4). 068.004 And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character. وَ‌إِنَّ‍‍كَ لَعَلى‌ خُ‍‍لُ‍‍قٍ عَ‍‍ظِ‍‍يمٍ
Fasatubşiru Wa Yubşirūna (Al-Qalam: 5). 068.005 Soon wilt thou see, and they will see, فَسَتُ‍‍بْ‍‍‍‍‍‍صِ‍‍رُ‌وَيُ‍‍بْ‍‍‍‍صِ‍‍رُ‌ونَ
Bi'ayyyikumu Al-Maftūnu (Al-Qalam: 6). 068.006 Which of you is afflicted with madness. بِأَيّيِكُمُ ‌الْمَفْتُونُ
'Inna Rabbaka Huwa 'A`lamu Biman Đalla `An Sabīlihi Wa Huwa 'A`lamu Bil-Muhtadīna (Al-Qalam: 7). 068.007 Verily it is thy Lord that knoweth best, which (among men) hath strayed from His Path: and He knoweth best those who receive (true) Guidance. إِنّ‌َ ‌‍‍‍رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ ضَ‍‍لَّ عَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ سَبِيلِهِ ‌وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِ‌الْمُهْتَدِينَ
Falā Tuţi`i Al-Mukadhdhibīna (Al-Qalam: 8). 068.008 So hearken not to those who deny (the Truth). فَلاَ‌ تُ‍‍‍‍طِ‍‍عِ ‌الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waddū Law Tud/hinu Fayud/hinūna (Al-Qalam: 9). 068.009 Their desire is that thou shouldst be pliant: so would they be pliant. وَ‌دُّ‌وا لَوْ‌ تُ‍‍دْهِنُ فَيُ‍‍دْهِنُونَ
Wa Lā Tuţi` Kulla Ĥallāfin Mahīnin (Al-Qalam: 10). 068.010 Heed not the type of despicable men,- ready with oaths, وَلاَ‌ تُ‍‍‍‍طِ‍‍عْ كُلَّ حَلاَّفٍ مَهِينٍ
Hammāzin Mashshā'in Binamīmin (Al-Qalam: 11). 068.011 A slanderer, going about with calumnies, هَ‍‍مّ‍‍َا‌ز‌ٍ مَشّ‍‍َا‌ء‌ٍ بِنَمِيمٍ
Mannā`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin 'Athīmin (Al-Qalam: 12). 068.012 (Habitually) hindering (all) good, transgressing beyond bounds, deep in sin, مَ‍‍نّ‍‍َاعٍ لِلْ‍‍‍‍خَ‍‍يْ‍‍رِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
`Utullin Ba`da Dhālika Zanīmin (Al-Qalam: 13). 068.013 Violent (and cruel),- with all that, base-born,- عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ‌زَنِيمٍ
'An Kāna Dhā Mālin Wa Banīna (Al-Qalam: 14). 068.014 Because he possesses wealth and (numerous) sons. أَ‌ن‌ْ ك‍‍َانَ ‌ذَ‌ا‌ م‍‍َالٍ ‌وَبَنِينَ
'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna (Al-Qalam: 15). 068.015 When to him are rehearsed Our Signs, "Tales of the ancients", he cries! إِ‌ذَ‌ا‌ تُتْلَى‌ عَلَ‍‍يْ‍‍هِ ‌آيَاتُنَا‌ قَ‍الَ ‌أَسَاطِ‍‍ي‍‍رُ‌الأَ‌وَّلِينَ
Sanasimuhu `Alá Al-Khurţūmi (Al-Qalam: 16). 068.016 Soon shall We brand (the beast) on the snout! سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى‌ ‌الْ‍‍‍‍خُ‍‍رْطُ‍‍ومِ
'Innā Balawnāhum Kamā Balawnā 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati 'Idh 'Aqsamū Layaşrimunnahā Muşbiĥīna (Al-Qalam: 17). 068.017 Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning. إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا‌ بَلَوْنَ‍‍ا أَ‍‍صْ‍‍ح‍‍َابَ ‌الْجَ‍‍نَّ‍‍ةِ ‌إِ‌ذْ أَ‍قْ‍‍‍‍سَمُوا لَيَ‍‍صْ‍‍رِمُ‍‍نَّ‍‍هَا‌ مُ‍‍صْ‍‍بِحِينَ
Wa Lā Yastathnūna (Al-Qalam: 18). 068.018 But made no reservation, ("If it be God's Will"). وَلاَ‌ يَسْتَثْنُونَ
Faţāfa `Alayhā Ţā'ifun Min Rabbika Wa Hum Nā'imūna (Al-Qalam: 19). 068.019 Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord, (which swept away) all around, while they were asleep. فَ‍‍طَ‍افَ عَلَيْهَا‌ طَ‍‍ائِفٌ مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ ‌‍رَبِّكَ ‌وَهُمْ ن‍‍َائِمُونَ
Fa'aşbaĥat Kālşşarīmi (Al-Qalam: 20). 068.020 So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot, (whose fruit had been gathered). فَأَ‍‍صْ‍‍بَحَتْ كَال‍‍صَّ‍‍رِيمِ
Fatanādaw Muşbiĥīna (Al-Qalam: 21). 068.021 As the morning broke, they called out, one to another,- فَتَنَا‌دَ‌و‌ا‌ مُ‍‍‍‍صْ‍‍بِحِينَ
'Ani Aghdū `Alá Ĥarthikum 'In Kuntum Şārimīna (Al-Qalam: 22). 068.022 "Go ye to your tilth (betimes) in the morning, if ye would gather the fruits." أَنِ ‌ا‍‍غْ‍‍دُ‌وا عَلَى‌ حَرْثِكُمْ ‌إِ‌ن‌ْ كُ‍‌‍ن‍‍تُمْ صَ‍‍ا‌رِمِينَ
nţalaqū Wa Hum Yatakhāfatūna (Al-Qalam: 23). 068.023 So they departed, conversing in secret low tones, (saying)- فَا‌ن‍‍‍‍‍طَ‍‍لَ‍‍قُ‍‍وا ‌وَهُمْ يَتَ‍‍خَ‍‍افَتُونَ
'An Lā Yadkhulannahā Al-Yawma `Alaykum Miskīnun (Al-Qalam: 24). 068.024 "Let not a single indigent person break in upon you into the (garden) this day." أَ‌ن‌ْ لاَ‌ يَ‍‍دْ‍‍‍‍خُ‍‍لَ‍‍نَّ‍‍هَا‌ ‌الْيَ‍‍وْمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِسْكِينٌ
Waghadawā `Alá Ĥardin Qādirīna (Al-Qalam: 25). 068.025 And they opened the morning, strong in an (unjust) resolve. وَ‍‍غَ‍‍دَ‌وْ‌ا‌ عَلَى‌ حَرْ‌د‌‌ٍ قَ‍‍ا‌دِ‌رِينَ
Falammā Ra'awhā Qālū 'Innā Lađāllūna (Al-Qalam: 26). 068.026 But when they saw the (garden), they said: "We have surely lost our way: فَلَ‍‍مَّ‍‍ا ‍‍‍رَ‌أَ‌وْهَا‌ قَ‍‍الُ‍‍وا ‌إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ لَ‍‍ضَ‍‍الُّونَ
Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna (Al-Qalam: 27). 068.027 "Indeed we are shut out (of the fruits of our labour)!" بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُ‌ومُونَ
Qāla 'Awsaţuhum 'Alam 'Aqul Lakum Lawlā Tusabbiĥūna (Al-Qalam: 28). 068.028 Said one of them, more just (than the rest): "Did I not say to you, 'Why not glorify (God)?'" قَ‍الَ ‌أَ‌وْسَ‍‍طُ‍‍هُمْ ‌أَلَمْ ‌أَقُ‍‍لْ لَكُمْ لَوْلاَ‌ تُسَبِّحُونَ
Qālū Subĥāna Rabbinā 'Innā Kunnā Žālimīna (Al-Qalam: 29). 068.029 They said: "Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!" قَ‍‍الُوا سُ‍‍بْ‍‍ح‍‍َانَ ‌‍رَبِّنَ‍‍ا إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ كُ‍‍نَّ‍‍ا‌ ظَ‍‍الِمِينَ
Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatalāwamūna (Al-Qalam: 30). 068.030 Then they turned, one against another, in reproach. فَأَ‍‍‍‍قْ‍‍‍‍بَلَ بَعْ‍‍ضُ‍‍هُمْ عَلَى‌ بَعْ‍‍ضٍ يَتَلاَ‌وَمُونَ
Qālū Yā Waylanā 'Innā Kunnā Ţāghīna (Al-Qalam: 31). 068.031 They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed! قَ‍‍الُوا يَا وَيْلَنَ‍‍ا إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ كُ‍‍نَّ‍‍ا‌ طَ‍‍اغِ‍‍ينَ
`Asá Rabbunā 'An Yubdilanā Khayan Minhā 'Innā 'Ilá Rabbinā ghibūna (Al-Qalam: 32). 068.032 "It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this: for we do turn to Him (in repentance)!" عَسَى ‍‍‍رَبُّنَ‍‍ا أَ‌ن‌ْ يُ‍‍بْ‍‍دِلَنَا‌ خَ‍‍يْر‌اً مِ‍‌‍نْ‍‍هَ‍‍ا إِنَّ‍‍ا إِلَى ‍رَبِّنَا ‍رَ‌اغِ‍‍بُونَ
Kadhālika Al-`Adhābu ۖ Wa La`adhābu Al-'Ākhirati 'Akbaru ۚ Law Kānū Ya`lamūna (Al-Qalam: 33). 068.033 Such is the Punishment (in this life); but greater is the Punishment in the Hereafter,- if only they knew! كَذَلِكَ ‌الْعَذ‍َ‍‌ابُ ۖ ‌وَلَعَذ‍َ‍‌ابُ ‌الآ‍‍‍‍خِ‍رَةِ ‌أَكْبَرُ‌ ۚ لَوْ‌ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
'Inna Lilmuttaqīna `Inda Rabbihim Jannāti An-Na`īmi (Al-Qalam: 34). 068.034 Verily, for the Righteous, are Gardens of Delight, in the Presence of their Lord. إِنّ‌َ لِلْمُتَّ‍‍‍‍قِ‍‍ي‍‍نَ عِ‍‌‍نْ‍‍دَ ‍رَبِّهِمْ جَ‍‍نّ‍‍َاتِ ‌ال‍‍نَّ‍‍عِيمِ
'Afanaj`alu Al-Muslimīna Kālmujrimīna (Al-Qalam: 35). 068.035 Shall We then treat the People of Faith like the People of Sin? أَفَنَ‍‍جْ‍‍عَلُ ‌الْمُسْلِم‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ كَالْمُ‍‍جْ‍‍رِمِينَ
Mā Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna (Al-Qalam: 36). 068.036 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? مَا‌ لَكُمْ كَ‍‍يْ‍‍فَ تَحْكُمُونَ
'Am Lakum Kitābun Fīhi Tadrusūna (Al-Qalam: 37). 068.037 Or have ye a book through which ye learn- أَمْ لَكُمْ كِت‍‍َابٌ ف‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍هِ تَ‍‍دْ‌رُسُونَ
'Inna Lakum Fīhi Lamā Takhayyarūna (Al-Qalam: 38). 068.038 That ye shall have, through it whatever ye choose? إِنّ‌َ لَكُمْ ف‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍هِ لَمَا‌ تَ‍‍‍‍خَ‍‍يَّرُ‌ونَ
'Am Lakum 'Aymānun `Alaynā Bālighatun 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati ۙ 'Inna Lakum Lamā Taĥkumūna (Al-Qalam: 39). 068.039 Or have ye Covenants with Us to oath, reaching to the Day of Judgment, (providing) that ye shall have whatever ye shall demand? أَمْ لَكُمْ ‌أَيْم‍‍َانٌ عَلَيْنَا‌ بَالِ‍‍‍‍غَ‍‍ةٌ ‌إِلَى‌ يَ‍‍وْمِ ‌الْ‍‍قِ‍‍يَامَةِ ۙ ‌إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا‌ تَحْكُمُونَ
Salhum 'Ayyuhum Bidhālika Za`īmun (Al-Qalam: 40). 068.040 Ask thou of them, which of them will stand surety for that! سَلْهُم ‌أَيُّهُمْ بِذَلِكَ ‌زَعِيمٌ
'Am Lahum Shurakā'u Falya'tū Bishurakā'ihim 'In Kānū Şādiqīna (Al-Qalam: 41). 068.041 Or have they some "Partners" (in Godhead)? Then let them produce their "partners", if they are truthful! أَمْ لَهُمْ شُ‍‍‍رَك‍‍َا‌ءُ‌ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُ‍رَك‍‍َائِهِمْ ‌إِ‌ن‌ْ كَانُوا صَ‍‍ا‌دِ‍قِ‍‍ينَ
Yawma Yukshafu `An Sāqin Wa Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Falā Yastaţī`ūna (Al-Qalam: 42). 068.042 The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,- يَ‍‍وْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ س‍‍َا‍‍قٍ ‌وَيُ‍‍دْعَ‍‍وْنَ ‌إِلَى‌ ‌ال‍‍سُّج‍‍ُ‍و‌دِ‌ فَلاَ‌ يَسْتَ‍‍طِ‍‍يعُونَ
Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun ۖ Wa Qad Kānū Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Wa Hum Sālimūna (Al-Qalam: 43). 068.043 Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused). خَ‍‍اشِعَةً ‌أَبْ‍‍‍‍صَ‍‍ا‌رُهُمْ تَرْهَ‍‍قُ‍‍هُمْ ‌ذِلَّةٌ ۖ ‌وَقَ‍‍دْ‌ كَانُوا يُ‍‍دْعَ‍‍وْنَ ‌إِلَى‌ ‌ال‍‍سُّج‍‍ُ‍و‌دِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ
Fadharnī Wa Man Yukadhdhibu Bihadhā Al-Ĥadīthi ۖ Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Lā Ya`lamūna (Al-Qalam: 44). 068.044 Then leave Me alone with such as reject this Message: by degrees shall We punish them from directions they perceive not. فَذَ‌رْنِي ‌وَمَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَ‌ا‌ ‌الْحَد‍ِ‍ي‍‍ثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَ‍‍دْ‌رِجُهُمْ مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ حَ‍‍يْ‍‍ثُ لاَ‌ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa 'Umlī Lahum ۚ 'Inna Kayd99 Matīnun (Al-Qalam: 45). 068.045 A (long) respite will I grant them: truly powerful is My Plan. وَ‌أُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ ‌إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ
'Am Tas'aluhum 'Ajan Fahum Min Maghramin Muthqalūna (Al-Qalam: 46). 068.046 Or is it that thou dost ask them for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ ‌أَجْ‍‍ر‌اً فَهُمْ مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ مَ‍‍‍‍غْ‍رَمٍ مُثْ‍‍قَ‍‍لُونَ
'Am `Indahumu Al-Ghaybu Fahum Yaktubūna (Al-Qalam: 47). 068.047 Or that the Unseen is in their hands, so that they can write it down? أَمْ عِ‍‌‍نْ‍‍دَهُمُ ‌الْ‍‍‍‍غَ‍‍يْ‍‍بُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
şbir Liĥukmi Rabbika Wa Lā Takun Kaşāĥibi Al-Ĥūti 'Idh Nādá Wa Huwa Makžūmun (Al-Qalam: 48). 068.048 So wait with patience for the Command of thy Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish,- when he cried out in agony. فَا‍‍صْ‍‍بِ‍‍ر‌ْ‌ لِحُكْمِ ‌‍رَبِّكَ ‌وَلاَ‌ تَكُ‍‌‍ن‌ْ كَ‍‍صَ‍‍احِبِ ‌الْح‍‍ُ‍وتِ ‌إِ‌ذْ‌ نَا‌دَ‌ى وَهُوَ‌ مَكْ‍‍ظُ‍‍ومٌ
Lawlā 'An Tadārakahu Ni`matun Min Rabbihi Lanubidha Bil-`Arā'i Wa Huwa Madhmūmun (Al-Qalam: 49). 068.049 Had not Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been cast off on the naked shore, in disgrace. لَوْلاَ أَ‌ن‌ْ تَدَ‌ا‌‍‍‍رَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ ‌‍رَبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ‌ بِ‌الْعَر‍َ‌اءِ وَهُوَ‌ مَذْمُومٌ
jtabāhu Rabbuhu Faja`alahu Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna (Al-Qalam: 50). 068.050 Thus did his Lord choose him and make him of the Company of the Righteous. فَاجْ‍‍تَب‍‍َاهُ ‌‍‍‍رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ ‌ال‍‍صَّ‍‍الِحِينَ
Wa 'In Yakādu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Layuzliqūnaka Bi'abşārihim Lammā Sami`ū Adh-Dhikra Wa Yaqūlūna 'Innahu Lamajnūnun (Al-Qalam: 51). 068.051 And the Unbelievers would almost trip thee up with their eyes when they hear the Message; and they say: "Surely he is possessed!" وَ‌إِ‌ن‌ْ يَك‍‍َا‌دُ‌ ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ كَفَرُ‌وا لَيُزْلِ‍‍‍‍قُ‍‍ونَكَ بِأَبْ‍‍‍‍صَ‍‍ا‌رِهِمْ لَ‍‍مَّ‍‍ا‌ سَمِعُوا ‌ال‍‍ذِّكْ‍رَ وَيَ‍‍قُ‍‍ول‍‍ُ‍ونَ ‌إِنَّ‍‍هُ لَمَ‍‍جْ‍‍نُونٌ
Wa Mā Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna (Al-Qalam: 52). 068.052 But it is nothing less than a Message to all the worlds. وَمَا‌ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْر‌ٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
