Sa'ala Sā'ilun Bi`adhābinqi`in (Al-Ma`ārij: 1). 070.001 A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall سَأَلَ س‍‍َائِل‌‍ٌ بِعَذ‍َ‍‌ابٍ ‌وَ‌ا‍‍‍‍ق‍‍ِ‍‍عٍ
Lilkāfiryna Laysa Lahu Dāfi`un (Al-Ma`ārij: 2). 070.002 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, لِلْكَافِ‍‍رينَ لَ‍‍يْ‍‍سَ لَهُ ‌دَ‌افِعٌ
Mina Allāhi Dhī Al-Ma`āriji (Al-Ma`ārij: 3). 070.003 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways مِنَ ‌اللَّ‍‍هِ ‌ذِي ‌الْمَعَا‌رِجِ
Ta`ruju Al-Malā'ikatu Wa Ar-Rūĥu 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqruhu Khamsīna 'Alfa Sanahin (Al-Ma`ārij: 4). 070.004 (Whereby) the angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day whereof the span is fifty thousand years. تَعْرُجُ ‌الْمَلاَئِكَةُ ‌وَ‌ال‍‍رّ‍ُ‍‌وحُ ‌إِلَ‍‍يْ‍‍هِ فِي يَ‍‍وْمٍ ك‍‍َانَ مِ‍‍‍‍‍قْ‍‍‍‍دَ‌ا‌رُهُ خَ‍‍مْس‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ ‌أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
şbir Şaban Jamīlāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 5). 070.005 But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see. فَا‍‍صْ‍‍بِ‍‍ر‌ْ‌ صَ‍‍بْ‍‍ر‌اً جَمِيلاً
'Innahum Yarawnahu Ba`īdāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 6). 070.006 Lo! they behold it afar off إِنَّ‍‍هُمْ يَ‍‍‍رَ‌وْنَهُ بَعِيد‌اً
Wa Narāhu Qarībāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 7). 070.007 While we behold it nigh: وَنَ‍‍رَ‍‌اهُ قَ‍‍رِيباً
Yawma Takūnu As-Samā'u Kālmuhli (Al-Ma`ārij: 8). 070.008 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, يَ‍‍وْمَ تَك‍‍ُ‍ونُ ‌ال‍‍سَّم‍‍َا‌ءُ‌ كَالْمُهْلِ
Wa Takūnu Al-Jibālu Kāl`ihni (Al-Ma`ārij: 9). 070.009 And the hills become as flakes of wool, وَتَك‍‍ُ‍ونُ ‌الْجِب‍‍َالُ كَالْعِهْنِ
Wa Lā Yas'alu Ĥamīmun Ĥamīmāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 10). 070.010 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend وَلاَ‌ يَسْأَلُ حَم‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍مٌ حَمِيماً
Yubaşşarūnahum ۚ Yawaddu Al-Mujrimu Law Yaftadī Min `Adhābi Yawmi'idhin Bibanīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 11). 070.011 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children يُبَ‍‍صَّ‍‍رُ‌ونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَ‌دُّ‌ ‌الْمُ‍‍جْ‍‍رِمُ لَوْ‌ يَفْتَدِي مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ عَذ‍َ‍‌ابِ يَوْمِئِذ‌ٍ بِبَنِيهِ
Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa 'Akhīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 12). 070.012 And his spouse and his brother وَ‍‍صَ‍‍احِبَتِهِ ‌وَ‌أَ‍خِ‍‍يهِ
Wa Faşīlatihi Allatī Tu'uwyhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 13). 070.013 And his kin that harboured him وَفَ‍‍صِ‍‍يلَتِهِ ‌الَّتِي تُؤْ‌ويهِ
Wa Man Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Thumma Yunjīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 14). 070.014 And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him. وَمَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ فِي ‌الأَ‌رْ‍‍ضِ جَمِيعاً ثُ‍‍مّ‌َ يُ‍‌‍ن‍‍جِيهِ
Kallā ۖ 'Innahā Lažá (Al-Ma`ārij: 15). 070.015 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell كَلاَّ ۖ ‌إِنَّ‍‍هَا‌ لَ‍‍‍‍ظَ‍‍ى
Nazzā`atan Lilshshawá (Al-Ma`ārij: 16). 070.016 Eager to roast; نَزَّ‌اعَة ً‌ لِلشَّوَ‌ى
Tad`ū Man 'Adbara Wa Tawallá (Al-Ma`ārij: 17). 070.017 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), تَ‍‍دْعُوا مَ‍‌‍ن‌ْ ‌أَ‌دْبَ‍‍‍رَ وَتَوَلَّى
Wa Jama`a Fa'aw`á (Al-Ma`ārij: 18). 070.018 And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it. وَجَمَعَ فَأَ‌وْعَى
'Inna Al-'Insāna Khuliqa Halū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 19). 070.019 Lo! man was created anxious, إِنّ‌َ ‌الإِ‌ن‍‍س‍‍َانَ خُ‍‍لِ‍‍قَ هَلُوعاً
'Idhā Massahu Ash-Sharru Jazū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 20). 070.020 Fretful when evil befalleth him إِ‌ذَ‌ا‌ مَسَّهُ ‌ال‍‍شَّرُّ‌ جَزُ‌وعاً
Wa 'Idhā Massahu Al-Khayru Manū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 21). 070.021 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; وَ‌إِ‌ذَ‌ا‌ مَسَّهُ ‌الْ‍‍‍‍خَ‍‍يْ‍‍رُ‌ مَنُوعاً
'Illā Al-Muşallīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 22). 070.022 Save worshippers. إِلاَّ ‌الْمُ‍‍‍‍صَ‍‍لِّينَ
Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Dā'imūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 23). 070.023 Who are constant at their worship الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ عَلَى‌ صَ‍‍لاَتِهِمْ ‌د‍َ‍‌ائِمُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī 'Amwālihim Ĥaqqun Ma`lūmun (Al-Ma`ārij: 24). 070.024 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ فِ‍‍ي ‌أَمْوَ‌الِهِمْ حَ‍‍‍‍قٌّ مَعْلُومٌ
Lilssā'ili Wa Al-Maĥrūmi (Al-Ma`ārij: 25). 070.025 For the beggar and the destitute; لِلسّ‍‍َائِلِ ‌وَ‌الْمَحْرُ‌ومِ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yuşaddiqūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni (Al-Ma`ārij: 26). 070.026 And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ يُ‍‍‍‍صَ‍‍دِّ‍‍قُ‍‍ونَ بِيَ‍‍وْمِ ‌ال‍‍دِّينِ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Min `Adhābi Rabbihim Mushfiqūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 27). 070.027 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ مِ‍‌‍ن‌ْ عَذ‍َ‍‌ابِ ‌‍‍‍رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِ‍‍قُ‍‍ونَ
'Inna `Adhāba Rabbihim Ghayru Ma'mūnin (Al-Ma`ārij: 28). 070.028 Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - إِنّ‌َ عَذ‍َ‍‌ابَ ‌‍‍‍رَبِّهِمْ غَ‍‍يْ‍‍رُ‌ مَأْمُونٍ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Lifurūjihim Ĥāfižūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 29). 070.029 And those who preserve their chastity وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ لِفُرُ‌وجِهِمْ حَافِ‍‍‍‍ظُ‍‍ونَ
'Illā `Alá 'Azwājihim 'Aw Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhum Fa'innahum Ghayru Malūmīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 30). 070.030 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; إِلاَّ‌ عَلَ‍‍ى أَ‌زْ‌وَ‌اجِهِمْ ‌أَ‌وْ‌ مَا‌ مَلَكَتْ ‌أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّ‍‍هُمْ غَ‍‍يْ‍‍رُ‌ مَلُومِينَ
Famani Abtaghá Warā'a Dhālika Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-`Ādūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 31). 070.031 But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors; فَمَنِ ‌ابْ‍‍تَ‍‍‍‍غَ‍‍ى وَ‌ر‍َ‌اءَ ذَلِكَ فَأ‍ُ‍‌وْل‍‍َائِكَ هُمُ ‌الْعَا‌دُ‌ونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Li'mānātihim Wa `Ahdihim `ūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 32). 070.032 And those who keep their pledges and their covenant, وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ لِأمَانَاتِهِمْ ‌وَعَهْدِهِمْ ‌‍‍‍رَ‌اعُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Bishahādātihim Qā'imūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 33). 070.033 And those who stand by their testimony وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ بِشَهَا‌دَ‌اتِهِمْ قَ‍‍ائِمُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Yuĥāfižūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 34). 070.034 And those who are attentive at their worship. وَ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ هُمْ عَلَى‌ صَ‍‍لاَتِهِمْ يُحَافِ‍‍ظُ‍‍ونَ
'Ūlā'ika Fī Jannātin Mukramūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 35). 070.035 These will dwell in Gardens, honoured. أ‍ُ‍‌وْل‍‍َائِكَ فِي جَ‍‍نّ‍‍َاتٍ مُكْ‍‍‍رَمُونَ
Famāli Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Qibalaka Muhţi`īna (Al-Ma`ārij: 36). 070.036 What aileth those who disbelieve, that they keep staring toward thee (O Muhammad), open-eyed, فَم‍‍َالِ ‌الَّذ‍ِ‍ي‍‍نَ كَفَرُ‌وا قِ‍‍بَلَكَ مُهْ‍‍طِ‍‍عِينَ
`Ani Al-Yamīni Wa `Ani Ash-Shimāli `Izīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 37). 070.037 On the right and on the left, in groups ? عَنِ ‌الْيَم‍‍ِ‍ي‍‍نِ ‌وَعَنِ ‌ال‍‍شِّم‍‍َالِ عِزِينَ
'Aya55ma`u Kullu Amri'in Minhum 'An Yudkhala Jannata Na`īmin (Al-Ma`ārij: 38). 070.038 Doth every man among them hope to enter the Garden of Delight ? أَيَ‍‍‍‍‍طْ‍‍‍‍مَعُ كُلُّ ‌امْ‍‍رِئٍ مِ‍‌‍نْ‍‍هُمْ ‌أَ‌ن‌ْ يُ‍‍دْ‍خَ‍‍لَ جَ‍‍نَّ‍‍ةَ نَعِيمٍ
Kallā ۖ 'Innā Khalaqnāhum Mimmā Ya`lamūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 39). 070.039 Nay, verily. Lo! We created them from what they know. كَلاَّ ۖ ‌إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ خَ‍‍لَ‍‍قْ‍‍‍‍نَاهُمْ مِ‍‍مَّ‍‍ا‌ يَعْلَمُونَ
Falā 'Uqsimu Birabbi Al-Mashāriqi Wa Al-Maghāribi 'Innā Laqādirūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 40). 070.040 But nay! I swear by the Lord of the rising-places and the setting-places of the planets that We verily are Able فَلاَ أُ‍‍‍‍قْ‍‍‍‍سِمُ بِ‍رَبِّ ‌الْمَشَا‌رِ‍قِ ‌وَ‌الْمَ‍‍غَ‍‍ا‌رِبِ ‌إِنَّ‍‍ا‌ لَ‍‍قَ‍‍ا‌دِ‌رُ‌ونَ
`Alá 'An Nubaddila Khayan Minhum Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimasbūqīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 41). 070.041 To replace them by (others) better than them. And we are not to be outrun. عَلَ‍‍ى أَ‌ن‌ْ نُبَدِّلَ خَ‍‍يْر‌اً مِ‍‌‍نْ‍‍هُمْ ‌وَمَا‌ نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِ‍‍ينَ
Fadharhum Yakhūđū Wa Yal`abū Ĥattá Yulāqū Yawmahumu Al-Ladhī Yū`adūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 42). 070.042 So let them chat and play until they meet their Day which they are promised, فَذَ‌رْهُمْ يَ‍‍‍‍خُ‍‍وضُ‍‍وا ‌وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى‌ يُلاَقُ‍‍وا يَوْمَهُمُ ‌الَّذِي يُوعَدُ‌ونَ
Yawma Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajthi Si`āan Ka'annahum 'Ilá Nuşubin Yūfiđūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 43). 070.043 The day when they come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal, يَ‍‍وْمَ يَ‍‍‍‍خْ‍‍رُج‍‍ُ‍ونَ مِنَ ‌الأَجْ‍‍د‍َ‍‌اثِ سِ‍رَ‌اعاً كَأَنَّ‍‍هُمْ ‌إِلَى‌ نُ‍‍صُ‍‍بٍ يُوفِ‍‍ضُ‍‍ونَ
Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun ۚ Dhālika Al-Yawmu Al-Ladhī Kānū Yū`adūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 44). 070.044 With eyes aghast, abasement stupefying them: Such is the Day which they are promised. خَ‍‍اشِعَةً ‌أَبْ‍‍‍‍صَ‍‍ا‌رُهُمْ تَرْهَ‍‍قُ‍‍هُمْ ‌ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ‌ذَلِكَ ‌الْيَ‍‍وْمُ ‌الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُ‌ونَ
