Nūn ۚ Wa Al-Qalami Wa Mā Yasţurūna (Al-Qalam: 1).
|
068.001 Nun. By the pen and that which they write (therewith),
|
نُون ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ |
Mā 'Anta Bini`mati Rabbika Bimajnūnin (Al-Qalam: 2).
|
068.002 Thou art not, for thy Lord's favour unto thee, a madman.
|
مَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ |
Wa 'Inna Laka La'ajrāan Ghayra Mamnūnin (Al-Qalam: 3).
|
068.003 And lo! thine verily will be a reward unfailing.
|
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْراً غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ |
Wa 'Innaka La`alá Khuluqin `Ažīmin (Al-Qalam: 4).
|
068.004 And lo! thou art of a tremendous nature.
|
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ |
Fasatubşiru Wa Yubşirūna (Al-Qalam: 5).
|
068.005 And thou wilt see and they will see
|
فَسَتُبْصِرُوَيُبْصِرُونَ |
Bi'ayyyikumu Al-Maftūnu (Al-Qalam: 6).
|
068.006 Which of you is the demented.
|
بِأَيّيِكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ |
'Inna Rabbaka Huwa 'A`lamu Biman Đalla `An Sabīlihi Wa Huwa 'A`lamu Bil-Muhtadīna (Al-Qalam: 7).
|
068.007 Lo! thy Lord is Best Aware of him who strayeth from His way, and He is Best Aware of those who walk aright.
|
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ |
Falā Tuţi`i Al-Mukadhdhibīna (Al-Qalam: 8).
|
068.008 Therefor obey not thou the rejecters
|
فَلاَ تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
Waddū Law Tud/hinu Fayud/hinūna (Al-Qalam: 9).
|
068.009 Who would have had thee compromise, that they may compromise.
|
وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ |
Wa Lā Tuţi` Kulla Ĥallāfin Mahīnin (Al-Qalam: 10).
|
068.010 Neither obey thou each feeble oath-monger,
|
وَلاَ تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلاَّفٍ مَهِينٍ |
Hammāzin Mashshā'in Binamīmin (Al-Qalam: 11).
|
068.011 Detracter, spreader abroad of slanders,
|
هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ |
Mannā`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin 'Athīmin (Al-Qalam: 12).
|
068.012 Hinderer of the good, transgressor, malefactor
|
مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ |
`Utullin Ba`da Dhālika Zanīmin (Al-Qalam: 13).
|
068.013 Greedy therewithal, intrusive.
|
عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ زَنِيمٍ |
'An Kāna Dhā Mālin Wa Banīna (Al-Qalam: 14).
|
068.014 It is because he is possessed of wealth and children
|
أَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ |
'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna (Al-Qalam: 15).
|
068.015 That, when Our revelations are recited unto him, he saith: Mere fables of the men of old.
|
إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُالأَوَّلِينَ |
Sanasimuhu `Alá Al-Khurţūmi (Al-Qalam: 16).
|
068.016 We shall brand him on the nose.
|
سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ |
'Innā Balawnāhum Kamā Balawnā 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati 'Idh 'Aqsamū Layaşrimunnahā Muşbiĥīna (Al-Qalam: 17).
|
068.017 Lo! We have tried them as We tried the owners of the garden when they vowed that they would pluck its fruit next morning,
|
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ |
Wa Lā Yastathnūna (Al-Qalam: 18).
|
068.018 And made no exception (for the Will of Allah);
|
وَلاَ يَسْتَثْنُونَ |
Faţāfa `Alayhā Ţā'ifun Min Rabbika Wa Hum Nā'imūna (Al-Qalam: 19).
|
068.019 Then a visitation from thy Lord came upon it while they slept
|
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ |
Fa'aşbaĥat Kālşşarīmi (Al-Qalam: 20).
|
068.020 And in the morning it was as if plucked.
|
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ |
Fatanādaw Muşbiĥīna (Al-Qalam: 21).
|
068.021 And they cried out one unto another in the morning,
|
فَتَنَادَوا مُصْبِحِينَ |
'Ani Aghdū `Alá Ĥarthikum 'In Kuntum Şārimīna (Al-Qalam: 22).
|
068.022 Saying: Run unto your field if ye would pluck (the fruit).
|
أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَى حَرْثِكُمْ إِنْ كُنتُمْ صَارِمِينَ |
Fānţalaqū Wa Hum Yatakhāfatūna (Al-Qalam: 23).
|
068.023 So they went off, saying one unto another in low tones:
|
فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ |
'An Lā Yadkhulannahā Al-Yawma `Alaykum Miskīnun (Al-Qalam: 24).
|
068.024 No needy man shall enter it to-day against you.
|
أَنْ لاَ يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِسْكِينٌ |
Waghadawā `Alá Ĥardin Qādirīna (Al-Qalam: 25).
|
068.025 They went betimes, strong in (this) purpose.
|
وَغَدَوْا عَلَى حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ |
Falammā Ra'awhā Qālū 'Innā Lađāllūna (Al-Qalam: 26).
|
068.026 But when they saw it, they said: Lo! we are in error!
|
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ |
Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna (Al-Qalam: 27).
|
068.027 Nay, but we are desolate!
|
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ |
Qāla 'Awsaţuhum 'Alam 'Aqul Lakum Lawlā Tusabbiĥūna (Al-Qalam: 28).
|
068.028 The best among them said: Said I not unto you: Why glorify ye not (Allah) ?
|
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ لَوْلاَ تُسَبِّحُونَ |
Qālū Subĥāna Rabbinā 'Innā Kunnā Žālimīna (Al-Qalam: 29).
|
068.029 They said: Glorified be our Lord! Lo! we have been wrong-doers.
|
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ |
Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatalāwamūna (Al-Qalam: 30).
|
068.030 Then some of them drew near unto others, self-reproaching.
|
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَلاَوَمُونَ |
Qālū Yā Waylanā 'Innā Kunnā Ţāghīna (Al-Qalam: 31).
|
068.031 They said: Alas for us! In truth we were outrageous.
|
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ |
`Asá Rabbunā 'An Yubdilanā Khayrāan Minhā 'Innā 'Ilá Rabbinā Rāghibūna (Al-Qalam: 32).
|
068.032 It may be that our Lord will give us better than this in place thereof. Lo! we beseech our Lord.
|
عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْراً مِنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ |
Kadhālika Al-`Adhābu ۖ Wa La`adhābu Al-'Ākhirati 'Akbaru ۚ Law Kānū Ya`lamūna (Al-Qalam: 33).
|
068.033 Such was the punishment. And verily the punishment of the Hereafter is greater if they did but know.
|
كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ |
'Inna Lilmuttaqīna `Inda Rabbihim Jannāti An-Na`īmi (Al-Qalam: 34).
|
068.034 Lo! for those who keep from evil are gardens of bliss with their Lord.
|
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ |
'Afanaj`alu Al-Muslimīna Kālmujrimīna (Al-Qalam: 35).
|
068.035 Shall We then treat those who have surrendered as We treat the guilty ?
|
أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ |
Mā Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna (Al-Qalam: 36).
|
068.036 What aileth you ? How foolishly ye judge!
|
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ |
'Am Lakum Kitābun Fīhi Tadrusūna (Al-Qalam: 37).
|
068.037 Or have ye a scripture wherein ye learn
|
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ |
'Inna Lakum Fīhi Lamā Takhayyarūna (Al-Qalam: 38).
|
068.038 That ye shall indeed have all that ye choose ?
|
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ |
'Am Lakum 'Aymānun `Alaynā Bālighatun 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati ۙ 'Inna Lakum Lamā Taĥkumūna (Al-Qalam: 39).
|
068.039 Or have ye a covenant on oath from Us that reacheth to the Day of Judgment, that yours shall be all that ye ordain ?
|
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ |
Salhum 'Ayyuhum Bidhālika Za`īmun (Al-Qalam: 40).
|
068.040 Ask them (O Muhammad) which of them will vouch for that!
|
سَلْهُم أَيُّهُمْ بِذَلِكَ زَعِيمٌ |
'Am Lahum Shurakā'u Falya'tū Bishurakā'ihim 'In Kānū Şādiqīna (Al-Qalam: 41).
|
068.041 Or have they other gods ? Then let them bring their other gods if they are truthful
|
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ |
Yawma Yukshafu `An Sāqin Wa Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Falā Yastaţī`ūna (Al-Qalam: 42).
|
068.042 On the day when it befalleth in earnest, and they are ordered to prostrate themselves but are not able,
|
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ |
Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun ۖ Wa Qad Kānū Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Wa Hum Sālimūna (Al-Qalam: 43).
|
068.043 With eyes downcast, abasement stupefying them. And they had been summoned to prostrate themselves while they were yet unhurt.
|
خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ |
Fadharnī Wa Man Yukadhdhibu Bihadhā Al-Ĥadīthi ۖ Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Lā Ya`lamūna (Al-Qalam: 44).
|
068.044 Leave Me (to deal) with those who give the lie to this pronouncement. We shall lead them on by steps from whence they know not.
|
فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
Wa 'Umlī Lahum ۚ 'Inna Kayd99 Matīnun (Al-Qalam: 45).
|
068.045 Yet I bear with them, for lo! My scheme is firm.
|
وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ |
'Am Tas'aluhum 'Ajrāan Fahum Min Maghramin Muthqalūna (Al-Qalam: 46).
|
068.046 Or dost thou (Muhammad) ask a fee from them so that they are heavily taxed ?
|
أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْراً فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ |
'Am `Indahumu Al-Ghaybu Fahum Yaktubūna (Al-Qalam: 47).
|
068.047 Or is the Unseen theirs that they can write (thereof) ?
|
أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ |
Fāşbir Liĥukmi Rabbika Wa Lā Takun Kaşāĥibi Al-Ĥūti 'Idh Nādá Wa Huwa Makžūmun (Al-Qalam: 48).
|
068.048 But wait thou for thy Lord's decree, and be not like him of the fish, who cried out in despair.
|
فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلاَ تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَى وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ |
Lawlā 'An Tadārakahu Ni`matun Min Rabbihi Lanubidha Bil-`Arā'i Wa Huwa Madhmūmun (Al-Qalam: 49).
|
068.049 Had it not been that favour from his Lord had reached him he surely had been cast into the wilderness while he was reprobate.
|
لَوْلاَ أَنْ تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ |
Fājtabāhu Rabbuhu Faja`alahu Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna (Al-Qalam: 50).
|
068.050 But his Lord chose him and placed him among the righteous.
|
فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ |
Wa 'In Yakādu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Layuzliqūnaka Bi'abşārihim Lammā Sami`ū Adh-Dhikra Wa Yaqūlūna 'Innahu Lamajnūnun (Al-Qalam: 51).
|
068.051 And lo! those who disbelieve would fain disconcert thee with their eyes when they hear the Reminder, and they say: Lo! he is indeed mad;
|
وَإِنْ يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ |
Wa Mā Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna (Al-Qalam: 52).

068.052 When it is naught else than a Reminder to creation.
|
وَمَا هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ |
