Aqtarabati As-Sā`atu Wa Anshaqqa Al-Qamaru (Al-Qamar: 1).

054.001 The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain.
|
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ |
Wa 'In Yarawā 'Āyatan Yu`riđū Wa Yaqūlū Siĥrun Mustamirrun (Al-Qamar: 2).
|
054.002 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion.
|
وَإِنْ يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ |
Wa Kadhdhabū Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwā'ahum ۚ Wa Kullu 'Amrin Mustaqirrun (Al-Qamar: 3).
|
054.003 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision
|
وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُسْتَقِرٌّ |
Wa Laqad Jā'ahum Mina Al-'Anbā'i Mā Fīhi Muzdajarun (Al-Qamar: 4).
|
054.004 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter,
|
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ |
Ĥikmatun Bālighatun ۖ Famā Tughni An-Nudhuru (Al-Qamar: 5).
|
054.005 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not.
|
حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ |
Fatawalla `Anhum ۘ Yawma Yad`u Ad-Dā`i 'Ilá Shay'in Nukurin (Al-Qamar: 6).
|
054.006 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing.
|
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَى شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ |
Khushsha`āan 'Abşāruhum Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajdāthi Ka'annahum Jarādun Muntashirun (Al-Qamar: 7).
|
054.007 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad,
|
خُشَّعاً أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنتَشِرٌ |
Muhţi`īna 'Ilá Ad-Dā`i ۖ Yaqūlu Al-Kāfirūna Hādhā Yawmun `Asirun (Al-Qamar: 8).
|
054.008 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day.
|
مُهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ |
Kadhdhabat Qablahum Qawmu Nūĥin Fakadhdhabū `Abdanā Wa Qālū Majnūnun Wa Azdujira (Al-Qamar: 9).
|
054.009 The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed.
|
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ |
Fada`ā Rabbahu 'Annī Maghlūbun Fāntaşir (Al-Qamar: 10).
|
054.010 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help.
|
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانْتَصِرْ |
Fafataĥnā 'Abwāba As-Samā'i Bimā'in Munhamirin (Al-Qamar: 11).
|
054.011 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water
|
فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُنْهَمِرٍ |
Wa Fajjarnā Al-'Arđa `Uyūnāan Fāltaqá Al-Mā'u `Alá 'Amrin Qad Qudira (Al-Qamar: 12).
|
054.012 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose.
|
وَفَجَّرْنَا الأَرْضَ عُيُوناً فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ |
Wa Ĥamalnāhu `Alá Dhāti 'Alwāĥin Wa Dusurin (Al-Qamar: 13).
|
054.013 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails,
|
وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَى ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ |
Tajrī Bi'a`yuninā Jazā'an Liman Kāna Kufira (Al-Qamar: 14).
|
054.014 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected.
|
تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِمَنْ كَانَ كُفِرَ |
Wa Laqad Taraknāhā 'Āyatan Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 15).
|
054.015 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ تَرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 16).
|
054.016 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
|
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 17).
|
054.017 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Kadhdhabat `Ādun Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 18).
|
054.018 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings.
|
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
'Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Rīĥāan Şarşarāan Fī Yawmi Naĥsin Mustamirrin (Al-Qamar: 19).
|
054.019 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity,
|
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحاً صَرْصَراً فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُسْتَمِرٍّ |
Tanzi`u An-Nāsa Ka'annahum 'A`jāzu Nakhlin Munqa`irin (Al-Qamar: 20).
|
054.020 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees.
|
تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُنْقَعِرٍ |
Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 21).
|
054.021 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
|
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 22).
|
054.022 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Kadhdhabat Thamūdu Bin-Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 23).
|
054.023 (The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings
|
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ |
Faqālū 'Abasharāan Minnā Wāĥidāan Nattabi`uhu 'Innā 'Idhāan Lafī Đalālin Wa Su`urin (Al-Qamar: 24).
|
054.024 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow ? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness.
|
فَقَالُوا أَبَشَراً مِنَّا وَاحِداً نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذاً لَفِي ضَلاَلٍ وَسُعُرٍ |
'A'uulqiya Adh-Dhikru `Alayhi Min Bayninā Bal Huwa Kadhdhābun 'Ashirun (Al-Qamar: 25).
|
054.025 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us ? Nay, but he is a rash liar.
|
أَؤُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ |
Saya`lamūna Ghadāan Mani Al-Kadhdhābu Al-'Ashiru (Al-Qamar: 26).
|
054.026 (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar.
|
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَداً مَنِ الْكَذَّابُ الأَشِرُ |
'Innā Mursilū An-Nāqati Fitnatan Lahum Fārtaqibhum Wa Aşţabir (Al-Qamar: 27).
|
054.027 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience;
|
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَة ً لَهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ |
Wa Nabbi'hum 'Anna Al-Mā'a Qismatun Baynahum ۖ Kullu Shirbin Muĥtađarun (Al-Qamar: 28).
|
054.028 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed.
|
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ |
Fanādawā Şāĥibahum Fata`āţá Fa`aqara (Al-Qamar: 29).
|
054.029 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her).
|
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَى فَعَقَرَ |
Fakayfa Kāna `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 30).
|
054.030 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!
|
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
'Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Şayĥatan Wāĥidatan Fakānū Kahashīmi Al-Muĥtažiri (Al-Qamar: 31).
|
054.031 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold.
|
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ |
Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 32).
|
054.032 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Kadhdhabat Qawmu Lūţin Bin-Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 33).
|
054.033 The folk of Lot rejected warnings.
|
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ |
'Innā 'Arsalnā `Alayhim Ĥāşibāan 'Illā 'Āla Lūţin ۖ Najjaynāhum Bisaĥarin (Al-Qamar: 34).
|
054.034 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night,
|
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِباً إِلاَّ آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ |
Ni`matan Min `Indinā ۚ Kadhālika Najzī Man Shakara (Al-Qamar: 35).
|
054.035 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.
|
نِعْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ شَكَرَ |
Wa Laqad 'Andharahum Baţshatanā Fatamārawā Bin-Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 36).
|
054.036 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings.
|
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُمْ بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ |
Wa Laqad Rāwadūhu `An Đayfihi Faţamasnā 'A`yunahum Fadhūqū `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 37).
|
054.037 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings!
|
وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَنْ ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Wa Laqad Şabbaĥahum Bukratan `Adhābun Mustaqirrun (Al-Qamar: 38).
|
054.038 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning.
|
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُسْتَقِرٌّ |
Fadhūqū `Adhābī Wa Nudhuri (Al-Qamar: 39).
|
054.039 Now taste My punishment after My warnings!
|
فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ |
Wa Laqad Yassarnā Al-Qur'āna Lildhdhikri Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 40).
|
054.040 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Wa Laqad Jā'a 'Āla Fir`awna An-Nudhuru (Al-Qamar: 41).
|
054.041 And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh
|
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ |
Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Kullihā Fa'akhadhnāhum 'Akhdha `Azīzin Muqtadirin (Al-Qamar: 42).
|
054.042 Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful.
|
كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ |
'Akuffārukum Khayrun Min 'Ūla'ikum 'Am Lakum Barā'atun Fī Az-Zuburi (Al-Qamar: 43).
|
054.043 Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures ?
|
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُوْلَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ |
'Am Yaqūlūna Naĥnu Jamī`un Muntaşirun (Al-Qamar: 44).
|
054.044 Or say they: We are a host victorious ?
|
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُنْتَصِرٌ |
Sayuhzamu Al-Jam`u Wa Yuwallūna Ad-Dubura (Al-Qamar: 45).
|
054.045 The hosts will all be routed and will turn and flee.
|
سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ |
Bali As-Sā`atu Maw`iduhum Wa As-Sā`atu 'Ad/há Wa 'Amarru (Al-Qamar: 46).
|
054.046 Nay, but the Hour (of doom) is their appointed tryst, and the Hour will be more wretched and more bitter (than their earthly failure).
|
بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَى وَأَمَرُّ |
'Inna Al-Mujrimīna Fī Đalālin Wa Su`urin (Al-Qamar: 47).
|
054.047 Lo! the guilty are in error and madness.
|
إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ وَسُعُرٍ |
Yawma Yusĥabūna Fī An-Nāri `Alá Wujūhihim Dhūqū Massa Saqara (Al-Qamar: 48).
|
054.048 On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell.
|
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ |
'Innā Kulla Shay'in Khalaqnāhu Biqadarin (Al-Qamar: 49).
|
054.049 Lo! We have created every thing by measure.
|
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ |
Wa Mā 'Amrunā 'Illā Wāĥidatun Kalamĥin Bil-Başari (Al-Qamar: 50).
|
054.050 And Our commandment is but one (commandment), as the twinkling of an eye.
|
وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلاَّ وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ |
Wa Laqad 'Ahlaknā 'Ashyā`akum Fahal Min Muddakirin (Al-Qamar: 51).
|
054.051 And verily We have destroyed your fellows; but is there any that remembereth ?
|
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ |
Wa Kullu Shay'in Fa`alūhu Fī Az-Zuburi (Al-Qamar: 52).
|
054.052 And every thing they did is in the scriptures,
|
وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ |
Wa Kullu Şaghīrin Wa Kabīrin Mustaţarun (Al-Qamar: 53).
|
054.053 And every small and great thing is recorded.
|
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُسْتَطَرٌ |
'Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Jannātin Wa Naharin (Al-Qamar: 54).
|
054.054 Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers,
|
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ |
Fī Maq`adi Şidqin `Inda Malīkin Muqtadirin (Al-Qamar: 55).

054.055 Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King.
|
فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِيكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ |
