Wa A ţ -Ţ ū r i (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 1).
052.001 By the Mount,
وَالطُّ ورِ
Wa Kitā bin Masţ ū r in (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 2).
052.002 And a Scripture inscribed
وَكِتَا بٍ مَسْطُ ورٍ
Fī Ra q q in Man sh ū r in (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 3).
052.003 On fine parchment unrolled,
فِي رَ قّ ٍ مَنْ شُورٍ
Wa A l-Bay ti A l-Ma`mū r i (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 4).
052.004 And the House frequented,
وَالْبَيْ تِ ا لْمَعْمُورِ
Wa A s-Saq fi A l-Marfū `i (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 5).
052.005 And the roof exalted,
وَالسَّقْ فِ ا لْمَرْفُوعِ
Wa A l-Baĥr i A l-Masjū r i (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 6).
052.006 And the sea kept filled,
وَالْبَحْرِ ا لْمَسْجُورِ
'Inn a `Adh ā ba Ra bbika Lawāq i`un (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 7).
052.007 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass;
إِنّ َ عَذَا بَ رَ بِّكَ لَوَاق ِ عٌ
Mā Lahu Min Dāfi`in (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 8).
052.008 There is none that can ward it off.
مَا لَهُ مِن ْ دَافِعٍ
Yaw ma Tamū ru A s-Samā 'u Mawrā an (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 9).
052.009 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving,
يَوْ مَ تَمُو رُ ا ل سَّمَا ءُ مَوْراً
Wa Tasī r u A l-Jibā lu Sayrā an (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 10).
052.010 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement,
وَتَسِي ر ُا لْجِبَا لُ سَيْراً
Faway lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 11).
052.011 Then woe that day unto the deniers
فَوَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Al-Ladh ī na Hum Fī Kh aw 3in Yal`abū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 12).
052.012 Who play in talk of grave matters;
ا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ فِي خَ وْ ض ٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
Yaw ma Yuda``ū na 'Ilá Nā r i Jahann ama Da``āan (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 13).
052.013 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell
يَوْ مَ يُدَعُّو نَ إِلَى نَا رِ جَهَنَّ مَ دَعّاً
Hadh ihi A n -Nā ru A llatī Kun tum Bihā Tukadh dh ibū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 14).
052.014 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny.
هَذِهِ ا ل نّ َا رُ ا لَّتِي كُن تُمْ بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
'Afasiĥru n Hādh ā 'Am 'An tum Lā Tub ş irū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 15).
052.015 Is this magic, or do ye not see ?
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَذَا أَمْ أَنْ تُمْ لاَ تُبْ صِ رُونَ
A ş lawhā Fāş birū 'Aw Lā Taş birū Sawā 'un `Alaykum ۖ 'Inn amā Tuj zaw na Mā Kun tum Ta`malū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 16).
052.016 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do.
ا صْ لَوْهَا فَاصْ بِرُو ا أَوْ لاَ تَصْ بِرُوا سَوَا ءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ مَا تُجْ زَوْ نَ مَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
'Inn a A l-Muttaq ī na Fī Jann ā tin Wa Na`ī min (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 17).
052.017 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight,
إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِ ي نَ فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
Fākihī na Bimā 'Ātāhum Ra bbuhum Wa Waq āhum Ra bbuhum `Adh ā ba A l-Jaĥī mi (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 18).
052.018 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire.
فَاكِهِي نَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَ بُّهُمْ وَوَقَ اهُمْ رَ بُّهُمْ عَذَا بَ ا لْجَحِيمِ
Kulū Wa A sh ra bū Hanī 'ā an Bimā Kun tum Ta`malū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 19).
052.019 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do,
كُلُوا وَا شْرَ بُوا هَنِي ئاً بِمَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Muttaki'ī na `Alá Suru r in Maş fūfatin ۖ Wa Zawwaj nāhum Biĥū r in `Ī nin (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 20).
052.020 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes.
مُتَّكِئِي نَ عَلَى سُرُرٍ مَصْ فُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْ نَاهُمْ بِحُو رٍ عِينٍ
Wa A l-Ladh ī na 'Āmanū Wa A ttaba`at/hum Dh urr īyatuhum Bi'ī mā nin 'Alĥaq nā Bihim Dh urr īyatahum Wa Mā 'Alatnāhum Min `Amalihim Min Sh ay 'in ۚ Kullu A m r i'in Bimā Kasaba Ra hī nun (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 21).
052.021 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned.
وَالَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا وَا تَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَا نٍ أَلْحَقْ نَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُمْ مِن ْ عَمَلِهِمْ مِن ْ شَيْ ءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ا مْرِ ئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَ هِينٌ
Wa 'Am dad nāhum Bifākihatin Wa Laĥmin Mimm ā Yash tahū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 22).
052.022 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire.
وَأَمْدَدْ نَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِمَّ ا يَشْتَهُونَ
Yatanāza`ū na Fīhā Ka'sāan Lā Lagh wun Fīhā Wa Lā Ta'th ī mun (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 23).
052.023 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin.
يَتَنَازَعُو نَ فِيهَا كَأْساً لاَ لَغْ وٌ فِيهَا وَلاَ تَأْثِيمٌ
Wa Yaţ ū fu `Alayhim Gh ilmā nun Lahum Ka'ann ahum Lu'ulu'uun Maknū nun (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 24).
052.024 And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls.
وَيَطُ و فُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِ لْمَا ن ٌ لَهُمْ كَأَنَّ هُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَكْنُونٌ
Wa 'Aq bala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasā 'alū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 25).
052.025 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning,
وَأَقْ بَلَ بَعْضُ هُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ يَتَسَا ءَلُونَ
Q ālū 'Inn ā Kunn ā Q ab lu Fī 'Ahlinā Mush fiq ī na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 26).
052.026 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious;
قَ الُو ا إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا قَ بْ لُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِ ينَ
Famann a A ll āhu `Alaynā Wa Waq ānā `Adh ā ba A s-Samū mi (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 27).
052.027 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire.
فَمَنّ َ ا للَّ هُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَ انَا عَذَا بَ ا ل سَّمُومِ
'Inn ā Kunn ā Min Q ab lu Nad `ū hu ۖ 'Inn ahu Huwa A l-Barru A r-Ra ĥī mu (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 28).
052.028 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful.
إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا مِن ْ قَ بْ لُ نَدْ عُو هُ ۖ إِنَّ هُ هُوَ ا لْبَرُّ ا ل رَّ حِيمُ
Fadh akkir Famā 'An ta Bini`mati Ra bbika Bikāhinin Wa Lā Maj nū nin (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 29).
052.029 Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman.
فَذَكِّر ْ فَمَا أَنْ تَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَ بِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلاَ مَجْ نُونٍ
'Am Yaq ūlū na Sh ā`ir un Natara bbaş u Bihi Ra y ba A l-Manū ni (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 30).
052.030 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time ?
أَمْ يَقُ ولُو نَ شَاعِرٌ نَتَرَ بَّصُ بِهِ رَ يْ بَ ا لْمَنُونِ
Q ul Tara bbaş ū Fa'inn ī Ma`akum Mina A l-Mutara bbiş ī na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 31).
052.031 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant.
قُ لْ تَرَ بَّصُ وا فَإِنِّ ي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ ا لْمُتَرَ بِّصِ ينَ
'Am Ta'muru hum 'Aĥlāmuhum Bihadh ā ۚ 'Am Hum Q aw mun Ţ āgh ū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 32).
052.032 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk ?
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلاَمُهُمْ بِهَذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَ وْ مٌ طَ اغُ ونَ
'Am Yaq ūlū na Taq awwala hu ۚ Bal Lā Yu'uminū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 33).
052.033 Or say they: He hath invented it ? Nay, but they will not believe!
أَمْ يَقُ ولُو نَ تَقَ وَّلَهُ ۚ بَل لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Falya'tū Biĥadīth in Mith lihi 'In Kānū Ş ādiq ī na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 34).
052.034 Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful.
فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِي ثٍ مِثْلِهِ إِن ْ كَانُوا صَ ادِقِ ينَ
'Am Kh uliq ū Min Gh ay r i Sh ay 'in 'Am Humu A l-Kh āliq ū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 35).
052.035 Or were they created out of naught ? Or are they the creators ?
أَمْ خُ لِقُ وا مِن ْ غَ يْ رِ شَيْ ءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ا لْخَ الِقُ ونَ
'Am Kh alaq ū A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa ۚ Bal Lā Yūq inū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 36).
052.036 Or did they create the heavens and the earth ? Nay, but they are sure of nothing!
أَمْ خَ لَقُ وا ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لاَ يُوقِ نُونَ
'Am `In dahum Kh azā 'inu Ra bbika 'Am Humu A l-Musayţ irū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 37).
052.037 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord ? Or have they been given charge (thereof) ?
أَمْ عِنْ دَهُمْ خَ زَا ئِنُ رَ بِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ا لْمُسَيْطِ رُونَ
'Am Lahum Sullamun Yastami`ū na Fī hi ۖ Falya'ti Mustami`uhum Bisulţ ā nin Mubī nin (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 38).
052.038 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest!
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُو نَ فِي هِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُمْ بِسُلْطَ ا نٍ مُبِينٍ
'Am Lahu A l-Banā tu Wa Lakumu A l-Banū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 39).
052.039 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons ?
أَمْ لَهُ ا لْبَنَا تُ وَلَكُمُ ا لْبَنُونَ
'Am Tas'aluhum 'Aj rā an Fahum Min Magh ra min Muth q alū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 40).
052.040 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt ?
أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْ راً فَهُمْ مِن ْ مَغْ رَ مٍ مُثْقَ لُونَ
'Am `In dahumu A l-Gh ay bu Fahum Yaktubū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 41).
052.041 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down ?
أَمْ عِنْ دَهُمُ ا لْغَ يْ بُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
'Am Yur īdū na Kaydāan ۖ Fa-Al-Ladh ī na Kafarū Humu A l-Makīdū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 42).
052.042 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger) ? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared!
أَمْ يُرِ يدُو نَ كَيْداً ۖ فَالَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ ا لْمَكِيدُونَ
'Am Lahum 'Ilahun Gh ay ru A ll āhi ۚ Sub ĥā na A ll āhi `Amm ā Yush r ikū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 43).
052.043 Or have they any god beside Allah ? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَهٌ غَ يْ رُ ا للَّ هِ ۚ سُبْ حَا نَ ا للَّ هِ عَمَّ ا يُشْرِ كُونَ
Wa 'In Yara wā Kisfāan Mina A s-Samā 'i Sāq iţ āan Yaq ūlū Saĥā bun Markū mun (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 44).
052.044 And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds.
وَإِن ْ يَرَ وْا كِسْفاً مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ سَاقِ ط اً يَقُ ولُوا سَحَا بٌ مَرْكُومٌ
Fadh arhum Ĥattá Yulāq ū Yawmahu mu A l-Ladh ī Fī hi Yuş `aq ū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 45).
052.045 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken,
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّى يُلاَقُ وا يَوْمَهُمُ ا لَّذِي فِي هِ يُصْ عَقُ ونَ
Yaw ma Lā Yugh nī `Anhum Kayduhum Sh ay'ā an Wa Lā Hum Yun ş arū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 46).
052.046 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped.
يَوْ مَ لاَ يُغْ نِي عَنْ هُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْ ئاً وَلاَ هُمْ يُن صَ رُونَ
Wa 'Inn a Lilladh ī na Ž alamū `Adh ābāan Dū na Dh ālika Wa Lakinn a 'Akth ara hum Lā Ya`lamū na (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 47).
052.047 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not.
وَإِنّ َ لِلَّذِي نَ ظَ لَمُوا عَذَاباً دُو نَ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ هُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa A ş bir Liĥukmi Ra bbika Fa'inn aka Bi'a`yuninā ۖ Wa Sabbiĥ Biĥam di Ra bbika Ĥī na Taq ū mu (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 48).
052.048 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest,
وَاصْ بِر ْ لِحُكْمِ رَ بِّكَ فَإِنَّ كَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَ بِّكَ حِي نَ تَقُ ومُ
Wa Mina A l-Lay li Fasabbiĥhu Wa 'Id bā ra A n -Nujū mi (Aţ -Ţ ūr: 49).
052.049 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars.
وَمِنَ ا ل لَّيْ لِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْ بَا رَ ا ل نُّ جُومِ
