A q tara ba Lilnn ā si Ĥisābuhum Wa Hum Fī Gh aflatin Mu`r iđū na (Al-'An b yā ': 1).
021.001 Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness.
ا قْ تَرَ بَ لِلنّ َا سِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي غَ فْلَةٍ مُعْرِ ضُ ونَ
Mā Ya'tīhim Min Dh ikr in Min Ra bbihim Muĥdath in 'Illā A stama`ū hu Wa Hum Yal`abū na (Al-'An b yā ': 2).
021.002 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play,
مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِن ْ ذِكْرٍ مِن ْ رَ بِّهِمْ مُحْدَثٍ إِلاَّ ا سْتَمَعُو هُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
Lāhiyatan Q ulūbuhum ۗ Wa 'Asarrū A n -Naj wá A l-Ladh ī na Ž alamū Hal Hādh ā 'Illā Bash aru n Mith lukum ۖ 'Afata'tū na A s-Siĥra Wa 'An tum Tub ş irū na (Al-'An b yā ': 3).
021.003 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you ? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it) ?
لاَهِيَةً قُ لُوبُهُمْ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا ا ل نَّ جْ وَى ا لَّذِي نَ ظَ لَمُوا هَلْ هَذَا إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ ۖ أَفَتَأْتُو نَ ا ل سِّحْرَ وَأَنْ تُمْ تُبْ صِ رُونَ
Q ā la Ra bbī Ya`lamu A l-Q aw la Fī A s-Samā 'i Wa A l-'Arđi ۖ Wa Huwa A s-Samī `u A l-`Alī mu (Al-'An b yā ': 4).
021.004 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower.
قَ ا لَ رَ بِّي يَعْلَمُ ا لْقَ وْ لَ فِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ وَا لأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ا ل سَّمِي عُ ا لْعَلِيمُ
Bal Q ālū 'Ađgh āth u 'Aĥlā min Bal A ftar ā hu Bal Huwa Sh ā`ir un Falya'tinā Bi'ā yatin Kamā 'Ursila A l-'Awwalū na (Al-'An b yā ': 5).
021.005 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were God's messengers) were sent (with portents).
بَلْ قَ الُو ا أَضْ غَ ا ثُ أَحْلاَمٍ بَلْ ا فْتَرَ ا هُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِآيَةٍ كَمَا أُرْسِلَ ا لأَوَّلُونَ
Mā 'Āmanat Q ab lahum Min Q aryatin 'Ahlaknāhā ۖ 'Afahum Yu'uminū na (Al-'An b yā ': 6).
021.006 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe ?
مَا آمَنَتْ قَ بْ لَهُمْ مِن ْ قَ رْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا ۖ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Q ab laka 'Illā R ijālāan Nūĥī 'Ilayhim ۖ Fās'alū 'Ahla A dh -Dh ikr i 'In Kun tum Lā Ta`lamū na (Al-'An b yā ': 7).
021.007 And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men, whom We inspired. Ask the followers of the Reminder if ye know not ?
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَ بْ لَكَ إِلاَّ رِ جَالاً نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَاسْأَلُو ا أَهْلَ ا ل ذِّكْرِ إِن ْ كُن تُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Mā Ja`alnāhum Jasadāan Lā Ya'kulū na A ţ -Ţ a`ā ma Wa Mā Kānū Kh ālidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 8).
021.008 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals.
وَمَا جَعَلْنَاهُمْ جَسَداً لاَ يَأْكُلُو نَ ا ل طَّ عَا مَ وَمَا كَانُوا خَ الِدِينَ
Th umm a Ş adaq nāhumu A l-Wa`da Fa'an jaynāhum Wa Man Nash ā 'u Wa 'Ahlaknā A l-Musr ifī na (Al-'An b yā ': 9).
021.009 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals.
ثُمّ َ صَ دَقْ نَاهُمُ ا لْوَعْدَ فَأَن جَيْنَاهُمْ وَمَن ْ نَشَا ءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ا لْمُسْرِ فِينَ
Laq ad 'An zalnā 'Ilaykum Kitābāan Fī hi Dh ikru kum ۖ 'Afalā Ta`q ilū na (Al-'An b yā ': 10).
021.010 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense ?
لَقَ دْ أَن زَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَاباً فِي هِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِ لُونَ
Wa Kam Q aş am nā Min Q aryatin Kānat Ž ālimatan Wa 'An sh a'nā Ba`dahā Q awmāan 'Ākh ar ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 11).
021.011 How many a community that dealt unjustly have We shattered, and raised up after them another folk!
وَكَمْ قَ صَ مْنَا مِن ْ قَ رْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَ الِمَةً وَأَن شَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَ وْماً آخَ رِ ينَ
Falamm ā 'Aĥassū Ba'sanā 'Idh ā Hum Minhā Yarkuđū na (Al-'An b yā ': 12).
021.012 And, when they felt Our might, behold them fleeing from it!
فَلَمَّ ا أَحَسُّوا بَأْسَنَا إِذَا هُمْ مِنْ هَا يَرْكُضُ ونَ
Lā Tarkuđū Wa A rji`ū 'Ilá Mā 'Utr iftum Fī hi Wa Masākinikum La`allakum Tus'alū na (Al-'An b yā ': 13).
021.013 (But it was said unto them): Flee not, but return to that (existence) which emasculated you and to your dwellings, that ye may be questioned.
لاَ تَرْكُضُ وا وَا رْجِعُو ا إِلَى مَا أُتْرِ فْتُمْ فِي هِ وَمَسَاكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْأَلُونَ
Q ālū Yā Waylanā 'Inn ā Kunn ā Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 14).
021.014 They cried: Alas for us! we were wrong-doers.
قَ الُوا يَاوَيْلَنَا إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا ظَ الِمِينَ
Famā Zālat Tilka Da`wāhum Ĥattá Ja`alnāhum Ĥaş īdāan Kh āmidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 15).
021.015 And this their crying ceased not till We made them as reaped corn, extinct.
فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ دَعْوَاهُمْ حَتَّى جَعَلْنَاهُمْ حَصِ يداً خَ امِدِينَ
Wa Mā Kh alaq nā A s-Samā 'a Wa A l-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Lā`ibī na (Al-'An b yā ': 16).
021.016 We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in play.
وَمَا خَ لَقْ نَا ا ل سَّمَا ءَ وَا لأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لاَعِبِينَ
Law 'Ara d nā 'An Nattakh idh a Lahwan Lā ttakh adh nā hu Min Ladunn ā 'In Kunn ā Fā`ilī na (Al-'An b yā ': 17).
021.017 If We had wished to find a pastime, We could have found it in Our presence - if We ever did.
لَوْ أَرَ دْ نَا أَن ْ نَتَّخِ ذَ لَهْواً لاَتَّخَ ذْنَا هُ مِن ْ لَدُنَّ ا إِن ْ كُنَّ ا فَاعِلِينَ
Bal Naq dh ifu Bil-Ĥaq q i `Alá A l-Bāţ ili Fayad magh uhu Fa'idh ā Huwa Zāhiq un ۚ Wa Lakumu A l-Way lu Mimm ā Taş ifū na (Al-'An b yā ': 18).
021.018 Nay, but We hurl the true against the false, and it doth break its head and lo! it vanisheth. And yours will be woe for that which ye ascribe (unto Him).
بَلْ نَقْ ذِفُ بِا لْحَقِّ عَلَى ا لْبَاطِ لِ فَيَدْ مَغُ هُ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ا لْوَيْ لُ مِمَّ ا تَصِ فُونَ
Wa Lahu Man Fī A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi ۚ Wa Man `In dahu Lā Yastakbirū na `An `Ibādatihi Wa Lā Yastaĥsirū na (Al-'An b yā ': 19).
021.019 Unto Him belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those who dwell in His presence are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they weary;
وَلَهُ مَن ْ فِي ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَن ْ عِنْ دَهُ لاَ يَسْتَكْبِرُو نَ عَن ْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَلاَ يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
Yusabbiĥū na A l-Lay la Wa A n -Nahā ra Lā Yafturū na (Al-'An b yā ': 20).
021.020 They glorify (Him) night and day; they flag not.
يُسَبِّحُو نَ ا ل لَّيْ لَ وَا ل نَّ هَا رَ لاَ يَفْتُرُونَ
'Am A ttakh adh ū 'Ālihatan Mina A l-'Arđi Hum Yun sh irū na (Al-'An b yā ': 21).
021.021 Or have they chosen gods from the earth who raise the dead ?
أَمْ ا تَّخَ ذُو ا آلِهَةً مِنَ ا لأَرْضِ هُمْ يُن شِرُونَ
Law Kā na Fīhimā 'Ālihatun 'Illā A l-Lahu Lafasadatā ۚ Fasub ĥā na A ll āhi Ra bbi A l-`Arsh i `Amm ā Yaş ifū na (Al-'An b yā ': 22).
021.022 If there were therein gods beside Allah, then verily both (the heavens and the earth) had been disordered. Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, from all that they ascribe (unto Him).
لَوْ كَا نَ فِيهِمَا آلِهَةٌ إِلاَّ ا للَّ هُ لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ فَسُبْ حَا نَ ا للَّ هِ رَ بِّ ا لْعَرْشِ عَمَّ ا يَصِ فُونَ
Lā Yus'alu `Amm ā Yaf`alu Wa Hum Yus'alū na (Al-'An b yā ': 23).
021.023 He will not be questioned as to that which He doeth, but they will be questioned.
لاَ يُسْأَلُ عَمَّ ا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْأَلُونَ
'Am A ttakh adh ū Min Dūnihi 'Ālihatan ۖ Q ul Hātū Burhānakum ۖ Hādh ā Dh ikru Man Ma`iya Wa Dh ikru Man Q ab lī ۗ Bal 'Akth aru hum Lā Ya`lamū na A l-Ĥaq q a ۖ Fahum Mu`r iđū na (Al-'An b yā ': 24).
021.024 Or have they chosen other gods beside Him ? say: Bring your proof (of their godhead). This is the Reminder of those with me and those before me, but most of them know not the Truth and so they are averse.
أَمْ ا تَّخَ ذُوا مِن ْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً ۖ قُ لْ هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ ۖ هَذَا ذِكْرُ مَن ْ مَعِيَ وَذِكْرُ مَن ْ قَ بْ لِي ۗ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُو نَ ا لْحَقَّ ۖ فَهُمْ مُعْرِ ضُ ونَ
Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Min Q ab lika Min Ra sūl In'illā Nūĥī 'Ilay hi 'Ann ahu Lā 'Ilā ha 'Illā 'Anā Fā`budū ni (Al-'An b yā ': 25).
021.025 And We sent no messenger before thee but We inspired him, (saying): There is no God save Me (Allah), so worship Me.
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ مِن ْ رَ سُول إٍِلاَّ نُوحِي إِلَيْ هِ أَنَّ هُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ
Wa Q ālū A ttakh adh a A r-Ra ĥmā nu Waladāan ۗ Sub ĥānahu ۚ Bal `Ibā dun Mukra mū na (Al-'An b yā ': 26).
021.026 And they say: The Beneficent hath taken unto Himself a son. Be He Glorified! Nay, but (those whom they call sons) are honoured slaves;
وَقَ الُوا ا تَّخَ ذَ ا ل رَّ حْمَنُ وَلَداً ۗ سُبْ حَانَهُ ۚ بَلْ عِبَا دٌ مُكْرَ مُونَ
Lā Yasbiq ūnahu Bil-Q aw li Wa Hum Bi'am r ihi Ya`malū na (Al-'An b yā ': 27).
021.027 They speak not until He hath spoken, and they act by His command.
لاَ يَسْبِقُ ونَهُ بِا لْقَ وْ لِ وَهُمْ بِأَمْرِ هِ يَعْمَلُونَ
Ya`lamu Mā Bay na 'Ayd 99him Wa Mā Kh alfahum Wa Lā Yash fa`ū na 'Illā Limani A rtađá Wa Hum Min Kh ash yatihi Mush fiq ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 28).
021.028 He knoweth what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him whom He accepteth, and they quake for awe of Him.
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْ نَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَ لْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يَشْفَعُو نَ إِلاَّ لِمَنِ ا رْتَضَ ى وَهُمْ مِن ْ خَ شْيَتِهِ مُشْفِقُ ونَ
Wa Man Yaq ul Minhum 'Inn ī 'Ilahun Min Dūnihi Fadh ālika Naj zī hi Jahann ama ۚ Kadh ālika Naj zī A ž-Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 29).
021.029 And one of them who should say: Lo! I am a god beside Him, that one We should repay with hell. Thus We Repay wrong-doers.
وَمَن ْ يَقُ لْ مِنْ هُمْ إِنِّ ي إِلَهٌ مِن ْ دُونِهِ فَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي هِ جَهَنَّ مَ ۚ كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا ل ظَّ الِمِينَ
'Awalam Yará A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū 'Ann a A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Kānatā Ra tq āan Fafataq nāhumā ۖ Wa Ja`alnā Mina A l-Mā 'i Kulla Sh ay 'in Ĥay yin ۖ 'Afalā Yu'uminū na (Al-'An b yā ': 30).
021.030 Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water ? Will they not then believe ?
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ى ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُو ا أَنّ َ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَ تْق اً فَفَتَقْ نَاهُمَا ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ا لْمَا ءِ كُلَّ شَيْ ءٍ حَيٍّ ۖ أَفَلاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa Ja`alnā Fī A l-'Arđi Ra wāsiya 'An Tamī da Bihim Wa Ja`alnā Fīhā Fijājāan Subulāan La`allahum Yahtadū na (Al-'An b yā ': 31).
021.031 And We have placed in the earth firm hills lest it quake with them, and We have placed therein ravines as roads that haply they may find their way.
وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ا لأَرْضِ رَ وَاسِيَ أَن ْ تَمِي دَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجاً سُبُلاً لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
Wa Ja`alnā A s-Samā 'a Saq fāan Maĥfūžāan ۖ Wa Hum `An 'Āyātihā Mu`r iđū na (Al-'An b yā ': 32).
021.032 And we have made the sky a roof withheld (from them). Yet they turn away from its portents.
وَجَعَلْنَا ا ل سَّمَا ءَ سَقْ فاً مَحْفُوظ اً ۖ وَهُمْ عَن ْ آيَاتِهَا مُعْرِ ضُ ونَ
Wa Huwa A l-Ladh ī Kh alaq a A l-Lay la Wa A n -Nahā ra Wa A sh -Sh am sa Wa A l-Q amara ۖ Kullun Fī Falakin Yasbaĥū na (Al-'An b yā ': 33).
021.033 And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit.
وَهُوَ ا لَّذِي خَ لَقَ ا ل لَّيْ لَ وَا ل نَّ هَا رَ وَا ل شَّمْسَ وَا لْقَ مَرَ ۖ كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
Wa Mā Ja`alnā Libash ar in Min Q ab lika A l-Kh ulda ۖ 'Afa'ī n Mitta Fahumu A l-Kh ālidū na (Al-'An b yā ': 34).
021.034 We appointed immortality for no mortal before thee. What! if thou diest, can they be immortal!
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ ا لْخُ لْدَ ۖ أَفَإِيْن ْ مِتَّ فَهُمُ ا لْخَ الِدُونَ
Kullu Nafsin Dh ā 'iq atu A l-Maw ti ۗ Wa Nab lūkum Bish -Sh arr i Wa A l-Kh ay r i Fitnatan ۖ Wa 'Ilaynā Turja`ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 35).
021.035 Every soul must taste of death, and We try you with evil and with good, for ordeal. And unto Us ye will be returned.
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَا ئِقَ ةُ ا لْمَوْ تِ ۗ وَنَبْ لُوكُمْ بِا ل شَّرِّ وَا لْخَ يْ رِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
Wa 'Idh ā Ra 'ā ka A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū 'In Yattakh idh ūnaka 'Illā Huzūan 'Ahadh ā A l-Ladh ī Yadh kuru 'Ālihatakum Wa Hum Bidh ikr i A r-Ra ĥmani Hum Kāfirū na (Al-'An b yā ': 36).
021.036 And when those who disbelieve behold thee, they but choose thee out for mockery, (saying): Is this he who maketh mention of your gods ? And they would deny all mention of the Beneficent.
وَإِذَا رَ آكَ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُو ا إِن ْ يَتَّخِ ذُونَكَ إِلاَّ هُزُو اً أَهَذَا ا لَّذِي يَذْكُرُ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَهُمْ بِذِكْرِ ا ل رَّ حْمَنِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ
Kh uliq a A l-'In sā nu Min `Ajalin ۚ Sa'ur īkum 'Āyātī Falā Tasta`jilū ni (Al-'An b yā ': 37).
021.037 Man is made of haste. I shall show you My portents, but ask Me not to hasten.
خُ لِقَ ا لإِن سَا نُ مِن ْ عَجَلٍ ۚ سَأُرِ يكُمْ آيَاتِي فَلاَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
Wa Yaq ūlū na Matá Hādh ā A l-Wa`du 'In Kun tum Ş ādiq ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 38).
021.038 And they say: When will this promise (be fulfilled), if ye are truthful ?
وَيَقُ ولُو نَ مَتَى هَذَا ا لْوَعْدُ إِن ْ كُن تُمْ صَ ادِقِ ينَ
Law Ya`lamu A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū Ĥī na Lā Yakuffū na `An Wujūhihimu A n -Nā ra Wa Lā `An Ž uhūr ihim Wa Lā Hum Yun ş arū na (Al-'An b yā ': 39).
021.039 If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not be able to drive off the fire from their faces and from their backs, and they will not be helped!
لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا حِي نَ لاَ يَكُفُّو نَ عَن ْ وُجُوهِهِمُ ا ل نّ َا رَ وَلاَ عَن ْ ظُ هُورِ هِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يُنْ صَ رُونَ
Bal Ta'tīhim Bagh tatan Fatab hatuhum Falā Yastaţ ī`ū na Ra ddahā Wa Lā Hum Yun žarū na (Al-'An b yā ': 40).
021.040 Nay, but it will come upon them unawares so that it will stupefy them, and they will be unable to repel it, neither will they be reprieved.
بَلْ تَأْتِيهِمْ بَغْ تَةً فَتَبْ هَتُهُمْ فَلاَ يَسْتَطِ يعُو نَ رَ دَّهَا وَلاَ هُمْ يُن ظَ رُونَ
Wa Laq adi A stuhzi'a Biru sulin Min Q ab lika Faĥā q a Bial-Ladh ī na Sakh irū Minhum Mā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ū n (Al-'An b yā ': 41).
021.041 Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them.
وَلَقَ دِ ا سْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ فَحَا قَ بِا لَّذِي نَ سَخِ رُوا مِنْ هُمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُ ون
Q ul Man Yakla'uukum Bil-Lay li Wa A n -Nahā r i Mina A r-Ra ĥmani ۗ Bal Hum `An Dh ikr i Ra bbihim Mu`r iđū na (Al-'An b yā ': 42).
021.042 Say: Who guardeth you in the night or in the day from the Beneficent ? Nay, but they turn away from mention of their Lord!
قُ لْ مَن ْ يَكْلَؤُكُمْ بِا ل لَّيْ لِ وَا ل نَّ هَا رِ مِنَ ا ل رَّ حْمَنِ ۗ بَلْ هُمْ عَن ْ ذِكْرِ رَ بِّهِمْ مُعْرِ ضُ ونَ
'Am Lahum 'Ālihatun Tam na`uhum Min Dūninā ۚ Lā Yastaţ ī`ū na Naş ra 'An fusihim Wa Lā Hum Minn ā Yuş ĥabū na (Al-'An b yā ': 43).
021.043 Or have they gods who can shield them from Us ? They cannot help themselves nor can they be defended from Us.
أَمْ لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ تَمْنَعُهُمْ مِن ْ دُونِنَا ۚ لاَ يَسْتَطِ يعُو نَ نَصْ رَ أَن فُسِهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ مِنَّ ا يُصْ حَبُونَ
Bal Matta`nā Hā 'uulā ' Wa 'Ābā 'ahum Ĥattá Ţ ā la `Alayhimu A l-`Umuru ۗ 'Afalā Yara w na 'Ann ā Na'tī A l-'Arđa Nan q uş uhā Min 'Aţ rā fihā ۚ 'Afahumu A l-Gh ālibū na (Al-'An b yā ': 44).
021.044 Nay, but We gave these and their fathers ease until life grew long for them. See they not how we aim to the land, reducing it of its outlying parts ? Can they then be the victors ?
بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَا ؤُلاَء وَآبَا ءَهُمْ حَتَّى طَ ا لَ عَلَيْهِمُ ا لْعُمُرُ ۗ أَفَلاَ يَرَ وْ نَ أَنَّ ا نَأْتِي ا لأَرْضَ نَن قُ صُ هَا مِن ْ أَطْ رَ افِهَا ۚ أَفَهُمُ ا لْغَ الِبُونَ
Q ul 'Inn amā 'Un dh iru kum Bil-Waĥyi ۚ Wa Lā Yasma`u A ş -Ş umm u A d-Du`ā 'a 'Idh ā Mā Yun dh arū na (Al-'An b yā ': 45).
021.045 Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I warn you only by the Inspiration. But the deaf hear not the call when they are warned.
قُ لْ إِنَّ مَا أُن ذِرُكُمْ بِا لْوَحْيِ ۚ وَلاَ يَسْمَعُ ا ل صُّ مُّ ا ل دُّعَا ءَ إِذَا مَا يُن ذَرُونَ
Wa La'in Massat/hum Nafĥatun Min `Adh ā bi Ra bbika Layaq ūlunn a Yā Waylanā 'Inn ā Kunn ā Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 46).
021.046 And if a breath of thy Lord's punishment were to touch them, they assuredly would say: Alas for us! Lo! we were wrong-doers.
وَلَئِن ْ مَسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِن ْ عَذَا بِ رَ بِّكَ لَيَقُ ولُنّ َ يَاوَيْلَنَا إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا ظَ الِمِينَ
Wa Nađa`u A l-Mawāzī na A l-Q isţ a Liyaw mi A l-Q iyāmati Falā Tužlamu Nafsun Sh ay'ā an ۖ Wa 'In Kā na Mith q ā la Ĥabbatin Min Kh ardalin 'Ataynā Bihā ۗ Wa Kafá Binā Ĥāsibī na (Al-'An b yā ': 47).
021.047 And We set a just balance for the Day of Resurrection so that no soul is wronged in aught. Though it be of the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We bring it. And We suffice for reckoners.
وَنَضَ عُ ا لْمَوَازِي نَ ا لْقِ سْطَ لِيَوْ مِ ا لْقِ يَامَةِ فَلاَ تُظْ لَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْ ئاً ۖ وَإِن ْ كَا نَ مِثْقَ ا لَ حَبَّةٍ مِن ْ خَ رْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَى بِنَا حَاسِبِينَ
Wa Laq ad 'Ātaynā Mūsá Wa Hārū na A l-Furq ā na Wa Đ iyā 'an Wa Dh ikrā an Lilmuttaq ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 48).
021.048 And We verily gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion (of right and wrong) and a light and a Reminder for those who keep from evil,
وَلَقَ دْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى وَهَارُو نَ ا لْفُرْقَ ا نَ وَضِ يَا ءً وَذِكْراً لِلْمُتَّقِ ينَ
Al-Ladh ī na Yakh sh aw na Ra bbahum Bil-Gh ay bi Wa Hum Mina A s-Sā`ati Mush fiq ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 49).
021.049 Those who fear their Lord in secret and who dread the Hour (of doom).
ا لَّذِي نَ يَخْ شَوْ نَ رَ بَّهُمْ بِا لْغَ يْ بِ وَهُمْ مِنَ ا ل سَّاعَةِ مُشْفِقُ ونَ
Wa Hadh ā Dh ikru n Mubāra kun 'An zalnā hu ۚ 'Afa'an tum Lahu Mun kirū na (Al-'An b yā ': 50).
021.050 This is a blessed Reminder that we have revealed: Will ye then reject it ?
وَهَذَا ذِكْرٌ مُبَارَ كٌ أَن زَلْنَا هُ ۚ أَفَأَنْ تُمْ لَهُ مُن كِرُونَ
Wa Laq ad 'Ātaynā 'Ib rā hī ma Ru sh dahu Min Q ab lu Wa Kunn ā Bihi `Ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 51).
021.051 And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him,
وَلَقَ دْ آتَيْنَا إِبْ رَ اهِي مَ رُشْدَهُ مِن ْ قَ بْ لُ وَكُنَّ ا بِهِ عَالِمِينَ
'Idh Q ā la Li'abī hi Wa Q awmihi Mā Hadh ihi A t-Tamāth ī lu A llatī 'An tum Lahā `Ākifū na (Al-'An b yā ': 52).
021.052 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion ?
إِذْ قَ ا لَ لِأَبِي هِ وَقَ وْمِهِ مَا هَذِهِ ا ل تَّمَاثِي لُ ا لَّتِي أَنْ تُمْ لَهَا عَاكِفُونَ
Q ālū Wajad nā 'Ābā 'anā Lahā `Ābidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 53).
021.053 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them.
قَ الُوا وَجَدْ نَا آبَا ءَنَا لَهَا عَابِدِينَ
Q ā la Laq ad Kun tum 'An tum Wa 'Ābā 'uukum Fī Đ alā lin Mubī nin (Al-'An b yā ': 54).
021.054 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error.
قَ ا لَ لَقَ دْ كُن تُمْ أَنْ تُمْ وَآبَا ؤُكُمْ فِي ضَ لاَلٍ مُبِينٍ
Q ālū 'Aji'tanā Bil-Ĥaq q i 'Am 'An ta Mina A l-Lā`ibī na (Al-'An b yā ': 55).
021.055 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester ?
قَ الُو ا أَجِئْتَنَا بِا لْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنْ تَ مِنَ ا ل لاَّعِبِينَ
Q ā la Bal Ra bbukum Ra bbu A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi A l-Ladh ī Faţ ara hunn a Wa 'Anā `Alá Dh alikum Mina A sh -Sh āhidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 56).
021.056 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that.
قَ ا لَ بَل رَ بُّكُمْ رَ بُّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ ا لَّذِي فَطَ رَ هُنّ َ وَأَنَا عَلَى ذَلِكُمْ مِنَ ا ل شَّاهِدِينَ
Wa Tā lllahi La'akīdann a 'Aş nāmakum Ba`da 'An Tuwallū Mud bir ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 57).
021.057 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs.
وَتَاللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنّ َ أَصْ نَامَكُمْ بَعْدَ أَن ْ تُوَلُّوا مُدْ بِرِ ينَ
Faja`alahum Judh ādh āan 'Illā Kabīrā an Lahum La`allahum 'Ilay hi Yarji`ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 58).
021.058 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it.
فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَاذاً إِلاَّ كَبِير اً لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْ هِ يَرْجِعُونَ
Q ālū Man Fa`ala Hādh ā Bi'ā lihatinā 'Inn ahu Lamina A ž-Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 59).
021.059 They said: Who hath done this to our gods ? Surely it must be some evil-doer.
قَ الُوا مَن ْ فَعَلَ هَذَا بِآلِهَتِنَا إِنَّ هُ لَمِنَ ا ل ظَّ الِمِينَ
Q ālū Sami`nā Fatan Yadh kuru hum Yuq ā lu Lahu 'Ib rā hī mu (Al-'An b yā ': 60).
021.060 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham.
قَ الُوا سَمِعْنَا فَتىً يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَ ا لُ لَهُ إِبْ رَ اهِيمُ
Q ālū Fa'tū Bihi `Alá 'A`yuni A n -Nā si La`allahum Yash /hadū na (Al-'An b yā ': 61).
021.061 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify.
قَ الُوا فَأْتُوا بِهِ عَلَى أَعْيُنِ ا ل نّ َا سِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ
Q ālū 'A'an ta Fa`alta Hādh ā Bi'ā lihatinā Yā 'Ib rā hī mu (Al-'An b yā ': 62).
021.062 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham ?
قَ الُو ا أَأَنْ تَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا بِآلِهَتِنَا يَاإِبْ رَ اهِيمُ
Q ā la Bal Fa`alahu Kabīru hum Hādh ā Fās'alūhum 'In Kānū Yan ţ iq ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 63).
021.063 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak.
قَ ا لَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَذَا فَاسْأَلُوهُمْ إِن ْ كَانُوا يَن طِ قُ ونَ
Fara ja`ū 'Ilá 'An fusihim Faq ālū 'Inn akum 'An tumu A ž-Ž ālimū na (Al-'An b yā ': 64).
021.064 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers.
فَرَ جَعُو ا إِلَى أَن فُسِهِمْ فَقَ الُو ا إِنَّ كُمْ أَنْ تُمُ ا ل ظَّ الِمُونَ
Th umm a Nukisū `Alá Ru 'ū sihim Laq ad `Alim ta Mā Hā 'uulā ' Yan ţ iq ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 65).
021.065 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not.
ثُمّ َ نُكِسُوا عَلَى رُءُ وسِهِمْ لَقَ دْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَا ؤُلاَء يَن طِ قُ ونَ
Q ā la 'Afata`budū na Min Dū ni A ll ā hi Mā Lā Yan fa`ukum Sh ay'ā an Wa Lā Yađurru kum (Al-'An b yā ': 66).
021.066 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you ?
قَ ا لَ أَفَتَعْبُدُو نَ مِن ْ دُو نِ ا للَّ هِ مَا لاَ يَن فَعُكُمْ شَيْ ئاً وَلاَ يَضُ رُّكُمْ
'Uffin Lakum Wa Limā Ta`budū na Min Dū ni A ll ā hi ۖ 'Afalā Ta`q ilū na (Al-'An b yā ': 67).
021.067 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense ?
أُفٍّ لَكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُو نَ مِن ْ دُو نِ ا للَّ هِ ۖ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِ لُونَ
Q ālū Ĥarr iq ū hu Wa A n ş urū 'Ālihatakum 'In Kun tum Fā`ilī na (Al-'An b yā ': 68).
021.068 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing.
قَ الُوا حَرِّقُ و هُ وَا ن صُ رُو ا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِن ْ كُن تُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Q ulnā Yā Nā ru Kūnī Bardāan Wa Salāmāan `Alá 'Ib rā hī ma (Al-'An b yā ': 69).
021.069 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham,
قُ لْنَا يَا نَا رُ كُونِي بَرْداً وَسَلاَماً عَلَى إِبْ رَ اهِيمَ
Wa 'Arā dū Bihi Kaydāan Faja`alnāhumu A l-'Akh sar ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 70).
021.070 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers.
وَأَرَ ادُوا بِهِ كَيْداً فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ ا لأَخْ سَرِ ينَ
Wa Najjaynā hu Wa Lūţ āan 'Ilá A l-'Arđi A llatī Bāra knā Fīhā Lil`ālamī na (Al-'An b yā ': 71).
021.071 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples.
وَنَجَّيْنَا هُ وَلُوط اً إِلَى ا لأَرْضِ ا لَّتِي بَارَ كْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Wa Wahab nā Lahu 'Isĥā q a Wa Ya`q ū ba Nāfilatan ۖ Wa Kullāan Ja`alnā Ş āliĥī na (Al-'An b yā ': 72).
021.072 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous.
وَوَهَبْ نَا لَهُ إِسْحَا قَ وَيَعْقُ و بَ نَافِلَةً ۖ وَكُلاًّ جَعَلْنَا صَ الِحِينَ
Wa Ja`alnāhum 'A'imm atan Yahdū na Bi'am r inā Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayhim Fi`la A l-Kh ayr ā ti Wa 'Iq ā ma A ş -Ş alāati Wa 'Ītā 'a A z-Zakāati ۖ Wa Kānū Lanā `Ābidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 73).
021.073 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone).
وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّ ةً يَهْدُو نَ بِأَمْرِ نَا وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ا لْخَ يْرَ ا تِ وَإِقَ ا مَ ا ل صَّ لاَةِ وَإِيتَا ءَ ا ل زَّكَا ةِ ۖ وَكَانُوا لَنَا عَابِدِينَ
Wa Lūţ āan 'Ātaynā hu Ĥukmāan Wa `Ilmāan Wa Najjaynā hu Mina A l-Q aryati A llatī Kānat Ta`malu A l-Kh abā 'ith a ۗ 'Inn ahum Kānū Q aw ma Saw 'in Fāsiq ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 74).
021.074 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd.
وَلُوط اً آتَيْنَا هُ حُكْماً وَعِلْماً وَنَجَّيْنَا هُ مِنَ ا لْقَ رْيَةِ ا لَّتِي كَانَتْ تَعْمَلُ ا لْخَ بَا ئِثَ ۗ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا قَ وْ مَ سَوْ ءٍ فَاسِقِ ينَ
Wa 'Ad kh alnā hu Fī Ra ĥmatinā ۖ 'Inn ahu Mina A ş -Ş āliĥī na (Al-'An b yā ': 75).
021.075 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous.
وَأَدْ خَ لْنَا هُ فِي رَ حْمَتِنَا ۖ إِنَّ هُ مِنَ ا ل صَّ الِحِينَ
Wa Nūĥāan 'Idh Nādá Min Q ab lu Fāstajab nā Lahu Fanajjaynā hu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina A l-Karbi A l-`Ažī mi (Al-'An b yā ': 76).
021.076 And Noah, when he cried of old, We heard his prayer and saved him and his household from the great affliction.
وَنُوحاً إِذْ نَادَى مِن ْ قَ بْ لُ فَاسْتَجَبْ نَا لَهُ فَنَجَّيْنَا هُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ ا لْكَرْبِ ا لْعَظِ يمِ
Wa Naş arnā hu Mina A l-Q aw mi A l-Ladh ī na Kadh dh abū Bi'ā yātinā ۚ 'Inn ahum Kānū Q aw ma Saw 'in Fa'agh ra q nāhum 'Aj ma`ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 77).
021.077 And delivered him from the people who denied Our revelations. Lo! they were folk of evil, therefor did We drown them all.
وَنَصَ رْنَا هُ مِنَ ا لْقَ وْ مِ ا لَّذِي نَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا قَ وْ مَ سَوْ ءٍ فَأَغْ رَ قْ نَاهُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
Wa Dāwū da Wa Sulaymā na 'Idh Yaĥkumā ni Fī A l-Ĥarth i 'Idh Nafash at Fī hi Gh anamu A l-Q aw mi Wa Kunn ā Liĥukmihim Sh āhidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 78).
021.078 And David and Solomon, when they gave judgment concerning the field, when people's sheep had strayed and browsed therein by night; and We were witnesses to their judgment.
وَدَاوُو دَ وَسُلَيْمَا نَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَا نِ فِي ا لْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِي هِ غَ نَمُ ا لْقَ وْ مِ وَكُنَّ ا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَاهِدِينَ
Fafahham nāhā Sulaymā na ۚ Wa Kullāan 'Ātaynā Ĥukmāan Wa `Ilmāan ۚ Wa Sakh kh arnā Ma`a Dāwū da A l-Jibā la Yusabbiĥna Wa A ţ -Ţ ay ra ۚ Wa Kunn ā Fā`ilī na (Al-'An b yā ': 79).
021.079 And We made Solomon to understand (the case); and unto each of them We gave judgment and knowledge. And we subdued the hills and the birds to hymn (His) praise along with David. We were the doers (thereof).
فَفَهَّمْنَاهَا سُلَيْمَا نَ ۚ وَكُلاًّ آتَيْنَا حُكْماً وَعِلْماً ۚ وَسَخَّ رْنَا مَعَ دَاوُو دَ ا لْجِبَا لَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَا ل طَّ يْ رَ ۚ وَكُنَّ ا فَاعِلِينَ
Wa `Allam nā hu Ş an`ata Labū sin Lakum Lituĥş inakum Min Ba'sikum ۖ Fahal 'An tum Sh ākirū na (Al-'An b yā ': 80).
021.080 And We taught him the art of making garments (of mail) to protect you in your daring. Are ye then thankful ?
وَعَلَّمْنَا هُ صَ نْ عَةَ لَبُو سٍ لَكُمْ لِتُحْصِ نَكُمْ مِن ْ بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنْ تُمْ شَاكِرُونَ
Wa Lisulaymā na A r-R ī ĥa `Āş ifatan Taj r ī Bi'am r ihi 'Ilá A l-'Arđi A llatī Bāra knā Fīhā ۚ Wa Kunn ā Bikulli Sh ay 'in `Ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 81).
021.081 And unto Solomon (We subdued) the wind in its raging. It set by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are Aware.
وَلِسُلَيْمَا نَ ا ل رِّي حَ عَاصِ فَةً تَجْ رِ ي بِأَمْرِ هِ إِلَى ا لأَرْضِ ا لَّتِي بَارَ كْنَا فِيهَا ۚ وَكُنَّ ا بِكُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ عَالِمِينَ
Wa Mina A sh -Sh ayāţ ī ni Man Yagh ūş ū na Lahu Wa Ya`malū na `Amalāan Dū na Dh ālika ۖ Wa Kunn ā Lahum Ĥāfižī na (Al-'An b yā ': 82).
021.082 And of the evil ones (subdued We unto him) some who dived (for pearls) for him and did other work, and We were warders unto them.
وَمِنَ ا ل شَّيَاطِ ي نِ مَن ْ يَغُ وصُ و نَ لَهُ وَيَعْمَلُو نَ عَمَلاً دُو نَ ذَلِكَ ۖ وَكُنَّ ا لَهُمْ حَافِظِ ينَ
Wa 'Ayyū ba 'Idh Nādá Ra bbahu 'Ann ī Massanī A đ-Đ urru Wa 'An ta 'Arĥamu A r-Rā ĥimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 83).
021.083 And Job, when he cried unto his Lord, (saying): Lo! adversity afflicteth me, and Thou art Most Merciful of all who show mercy.
وَأَيُّو بَ إِذْ نَادَى رَ بَّهُ أَنِّ ي مَسَّنِي ا ل ضُّ رُّ وَأَنْ تَ أَرْحَمُ ا ل رَّ احِمِينَ
Fāstajab nā Lahu Fakash afnā Mā Bihi Min Đ urr in ۖ Wa 'Ātaynā hu 'Ahlahu Wa Mith lahum Ma`ahum Ra ĥmatan Min `In dinā Wa Dh ikrá Lil`ābidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 84).
021.084 Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers;
فَاسْتَجَبْ نَا لَهُ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِ مِن ْ ضُ رٍّ ۖ وَآتَيْنَا هُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ رَ حْمَةً مِن ْ عِنْ دِنَا وَذِكْرَ ى لِلْعَابِدِينَ
Wa 'Ismā`ī la Wa 'Id r ī sa Wa Dh ā A l-Kifli ۖ Kullun Mina A ş -Ş ābir ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 85).
021.085 And (mention) Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhu'l-Kifl. All were of the steadfast.
وَإِسْمَاعِي لَ وَإِدْ ر ِي سَ وَذَا ا لْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّ مِنَ ا ل صَّ ابِرِ ينَ
Wa 'Ad kh alnāhum Fī Ra ĥmatinā ۖ 'Inn ahum Mina A ş -Ş āliĥī na (Al-'An b yā ': 86).
021.086 And We brought them in unto Our mercy. Lo! they are among the righteous.
وَأَدْ خَ لْنَاهُمْ فِي رَ حْمَتِنَا ۖ إِنَّ هُمْ مِنَ ا ل صَّ الِحِينَ
Wa Dh ā A n -Nū ni 'Idh Dh ahaba Mugh āđibāan Fažann a 'An Lan Naq dira `Alay hi Fanādá Fī A ž-Ž ulumā ti 'An Lā 'Ilā ha 'Illā 'An ta Sub ĥānaka 'Inn ī Kun tu Mina A ž-Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 87).
021.087 And (mention) Dhu'n-Nun, when he went off in anger and deemed that We had no power over him, but he cried out in the darkness, saying: There is no God save Thee. Be Thou Glorified! Lo! I have been a wrong-doer.
وَذَا ا ل نّ ُو نِ إِذْ ذَهَبَ مُغَ اضِ باً فَظَ نّ َ أَن ْ لَن ْ نَقْ دِرَ عَلَيْ هِ فَنَادَى فِي ا ل ظُّ لُمَا تِ أَن ْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَ سُبْ حَانَكَ إِنِّ ي كُن تُ مِنَ ا ل ظَّ الِمِينَ
Fāstajab nā Lahu Wa Najjaynā hu Mina A l-Gh amm i ۚ Wa Kadh alika Nun jī A l-Mu'uminī na (Al-'An b yā ': 88).
021.088 Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. Thus we save believers.
فَاسْتَجَبْ نَا لَهُ وَنَجَّيْنَا هُ مِنَ ا لْغَ مّ ِ ۚ وَكَذَلِكَ نُنْ جِي ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Zakar īyā 'Idh Nādá Ra bbahu Ra bbi Lā Tadh arnī Fardāan Wa 'An ta Kh ay ru A l-Wār ith ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 89).
021.089 And Zachariah, when he cried unto his Lord: My Lord! Leave me not childless, though Thou art the Best of inheritors.
وَزَكَرِ يَّا إِذْ نَادَى رَ بَّهُ رَ بِّ لاَ تَذَرْنِي فَرْداً وَأَنْ تَ خَ يْ رُ ا لْوَارِ ثِينَ
Fāstajab nā Lahu Wa Wahab nā Lahu Yaĥyá Wa 'Aş laĥnā Lahu Zawjahu ۚ 'Inn ahum Kānū Yusār i`ū na Fī A l-Kh ayr ā ti Wa Yad `ūnanā Ra gh abāan Wa Ra habāan ۖ Wa Kānū Lanā Kh āsh i`ī na (Al-'An b yā ': 90).
021.090 Then We heard his prayer, and bestowed upon him John, and adjusted his wife (to bear a child) for him. Lo! they used to vie one with the other in good deeds, and they cried unto Us in longing and in fear, and were submissive unto Us.
فَاسْتَجَبْ نَا لَهُ وَوَهَبْ نَا لَهُ يَحْيَى وَأَصْ لَحْنَا لَهُ زَوْجَهُ ۚ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا يُسَارِ عُو نَ فِي ا لْخَ يْرَ ا تِ وَيَدْ عُونَنَا رَ غَ باً وَرَ هَباً ۖ وَكَانُوا لَنَا خَ اشِعِينَ
Wa A -Atī 'Aĥş anat Farjahā Fanafakh nā Fīhā Min Rūĥinā Wa Ja`alnāhā Wa A b nahā 'Āyatan Lil`ālamī na (Al-'An b yā ': 91).
021.091 And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples.
وَالَّتِي أَحْصَ نَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْ نَا فِيهَا مِن ْ رُوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَاهَا وَا بْ نَهَا آيَة ً لِلْعَالَمِينَ
'Inn a Hadh ihi 'Umm atukum 'Umm atan Wāĥidatan Wa 'Anā Ra bbukum Fā`budū ni (Al-'An b yā ': 92).
021.092 Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
إِنّ َ هَذِهِ أُمَّ تُكُمْ أُمَّ ةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَ بُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ
Wa Taq aţ ţ a`ū 'Am ra hum Baynahum ۖ Kullun 'Ilaynā Rā ji`ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 93).
021.093 And they have broken their religion (into fragments) among them, (yet) all are returning unto Us.
وَتَقَ طَّ عُو ا أَمْرَ هُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَ اجِعُونَ
Faman Ya`mal Mina A ş -Ş āliĥā ti Wa Huwa Mu 'uminun Falā Kufr ā na Lisa`yihi Wa 'Inn ā Lahu Kātibū na (Al-'An b yā ': 94).
021.094 Then whoso doeth some good works and is a believer, there will be no rejection of his effort. Lo! We record (it) for him.
فَمَن ْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ا ل صَّ الِحَا تِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلاَ كُفْرَ ا نَ لِسَعْيِهِ وَإِنَّ ا لَهُ كَاتِبُونَ
Wa Ĥar ā mun `Alá Q aryatin 'Ahlaknāhā 'Ann ahum Lā Yarji`ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 95).
021.095 And there is a ban upon any community which We have destroyed: that they shall not return.
وَحَرَ ا مٌ عَلَى قَ رْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا أَنَّ هُمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ
Ĥattá 'Idh ā Futiĥat Ya'jū ju Wa Ma'jū ju Wa Hum Min Kulli Ĥadabin Yan silū na (Al-'An b yā ': 96).
021.096 Until, when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they hasten out of every mound,
حَتَّى إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُو جُ وَمَأْجُو جُ وَهُمْ مِن ْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَن سِلُونَ
Wāq tara ba A l-Wa`du A l-Ĥaq q u Fa'idh ā Hiya Sh ākh iş atun 'Ab ş ā ru A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū Yā Waylanā Q ad Kunn ā Fī Gh aflatin Min Hādh ā Bal Kunn ā Ž ālimī na (Al-'An b yā ': 97).
021.097 And the True Promise draweth nigh; then behold them, staring wide (in terror), the eyes of those who disbelieve! (They say): Alas for us! We (lived) in forgetfulness of this. Ah, but we were wrong-doers!
وَاقْ تَرَ بَ ا لْوَعْدُ ا لْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِيَ شَاخِ صَ ةٌ أَبْ صَ ا رُ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا يَاوَيْلَنَا قَ دْ كُنَّ ا فِي غَ فْلَةٍ مِن ْ هَذَا بَلْ كُنَّ ا ظَ الِمِينَ
'Inn akum Wa Mā Ta`budū na Min Dū ni A ll ā hi Ĥaş abu Jahann ama 'An tum Lahā Wa A r idū na (Al-'An b yā ': 98).
021.098 Lo! ye (idolaters) and that which ye worship beside Allah are fuel of hell. Thereunto ye will come.
إِنَّ كُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُو نَ مِن ْ دُو نِ ا للَّ هِ حَصَ بُ جَهَنَّ مَ أَنْ تُمْ لَهَا وَا رِ دُونَ
Law Kā na Hā 'uulā ' 'Ālihatan Mā Wara dūhā ۖ Wa Kullun Fīhā Kh ālidū na (Al-'An b yā ': 99).
021.099 If these had been gods they would not have come thither, but all will abide therein.
لَوْ كَا نَ هَا ؤُلاَء آلِهَةً مَا وَرَ دُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّ فِيهَا خَ الِدُونَ
Lahum Fīhā Zafī r un Wa Hum Fīhā Lā Yasma`ū na (Al-'An b yā ': 100).
021.100 Therein wailing is their portion, and therein they hear not.
لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِي رٌ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ
'Inn a A l-Ladh ī na Sabaq at Lahum Minn ā A l-Ĥusná 'Ūlā 'ika `Anhā Mub `adū na (Al-'An b yā ': 101).
021.101 Lo! those unto whom kindness hath gone forth before from Us, they will be far removed from thence.
إِنّ َ ا لَّذِي نَ سَبَقَ تْ لَهُمْ مِنَّ ا ا لْحُسْنَى أُ وْلَا ئِكَ عَنْ هَا مُبْ عَدُونَ
Lā Yasma`ū na Ĥasīsahā ۖ Wa Hum Fī Mā A sh tahat 'An fusuhum Kh ālidū na (Al-'An b yā ': 102).
021.102 They will not hear the slightest sound thereof, while they abide in that which their souls desire.
لاَ يَسْمَعُو نَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِي مَا ا شْتَهَتْ أَن فُسُهُمْ خَ الِدُونَ
Lā Yaĥzunuhumu A l-Faza`u A l-'Akbaru Wa Tatalaq q āhumu A l-Malā 'ikatu Hādh ā Yawmuku mu A l-Ladh ī Kun tum Tū`adū na (Al-'An b yā ': 103).
021.103 The Supreme Horror will not grieve them, and the angels will welcome them, (saying): This is your Day which ye were promised;
لاَ يَحْزُنُهُمُ ا لْفَزَعُ ا لأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّ اهُمُ ا لْمَلاَئِكَةُ هَذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ا لَّذِي كُن تُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
Yaw ma Naţ wī A s-Samā 'a Kaţ ay yi A s-Sijilli Lilkutubi ۚ Kamā Bada'nā 'Awwala Kh alq in Nu`īduhu ۚ Wa`dāan `Alaynā ۚ 'Inn ā Kunn ā Fā`ilī na (Al-'An b yā ': 104).
021.104 The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it.
يَوْ مَ نَطْ وِي ا ل سَّمَا ءَ كَطَ يِّ ا ل سِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ كَمَا بَدَأْنَا أَوَّلَ خَ لْق ٍ نُعِيدُهُ ۚ وَعْداً عَلَيْنَا ۚ إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا فَاعِلِينَ
Wa Laq ad Katab nā Fī A z-Zabū r i Min Ba`di A dh -Dh ikr i 'Ann a A l-'Arđa Yar ith uhā `Ibādiya A ş -Ş āliĥū na (Al-'An b yā ': 105).
021.105 And verily we have written in the Scripture, after the Reminder: My righteous slaves will inherit the earth:
وَلَقَ دْ كَتَبْ نَا فِي ا ل زَّبُو رِ مِن ْ بَعْدِ ا ل ذِّكْرِ أَنّ َ ا لأَرْضَ يَرِ ثُهَا عِبَادِيَ ا ل صَّ الِحُونَ
'Inn a Fī Hādh ā Labalāgh āan Liq aw min `Ābidī na (Al-'An b yā ': 106).
021.106 Lo! there is a plain statement for folk who are devout.
إِنّ َ فِي هَذَا لَبَلاَغ اً لِقَ وْ مٍ عَابِدِينَ
Wa Mā 'Arsalnā ka 'Illā Ra ĥmatan Lil`ālamī na (Al-'An b yā ': 107).
021.107 We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples.
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا كَ إِلاَّ رَ حْمَة ً لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Q ul 'Inn amā Yūĥá 'Ilay ya 'A nn amā 'Ilahukum 'Ilahun Wāĥidun ۖ Fahal 'An tum Muslimū na (Al-'An b yā ': 108).
021.108 Say: It is only inspired in me that your God is One God. Will ye then surrender (unto Him) ?
قُ لْ إِنَّ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيَّ أَنَّ مَا إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنْ تُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ
Fa'in Tawallawā Faq ul 'Ādh an tukum `Alá Sawā 'in ۖ Wa 'In 'Ad r ī 'Aq ar ī bun 'Am Ba`ī dun Mā Tū`adū na (Al-'An b yā ': 109).
021.109 But if they are averse, then say: I have warned you all alike, although I know not whether nigh or far is that which ye are promised.
فَإِن ْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُ لْ آذَنْ تُكُمْ عَلَى سَوَا ءٍ ۖ وَإِن ْ أَدْ رِ ي أَقَ ر ِي بٌ أَمْ بَعِي دٌ مَا تُوعَدُونَ
'Inn ahu Ya`lamu A l-Jahra Mina A l-Q aw li Wa Ya`lamu Mā Taktumū na (Al-'An b yā ': 110).
021.110 Lo! He knoweth that which is said openly, and that which ye conceal.
إِنَّ هُ يَعْلَمُ ا لْجَهْرَ مِنَ ا لْقَ وْ لِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ
Wa 'In 'Ad r ī La`allahu Fitnatun Lakum Wa Matā `un 'Ilá Ĥī nin (Al-'An b yā ': 111).
021.111 And I know not but that this may be a trial for you, and enjoyment for a while.
وَإِن ْ أَدْ رِ ي لَعَلَّهُ فِتْنَة ٌ لَكُمْ وَمَتَا عٌ إِلَى حِينٍ
Q ā la Ra bbi A ĥkum Bil-Ĥaq q i ۗ Wa Ra bbunā A r-Ra ĥmā nu A l-Musta`ā nu `Alá Mā Taş ifū na (Al-'An b yā ': 112).
021.112 He saith: My Lord! Judge Thou with truth. Our Lord is the Beneficent, Whose help is to be implored against that which ye ascribe (unto Him).
قَ ا لَ رَ بِّ ا حْكُمْ بِا لْحَقِّ ۗ وَرَ بُّنَا ا ل رَّ حْمَنُ ا لْمُسْتَعَا نُ عَلَى مَا تَصِ فُونَ
