Wa Al-Fajri  | By the dawn; (Al-Fajr 89:1) | وَالْفَجْرِ |
Wa Layālin `Ashrin  | By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hījjah), (Al-Fajr 89:2) | وَلَيَالٍ عَشْر ٍ |
Wa Ash-Shaf`i Wa Al-Watri  | And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allāh). (Al-Fajr 89:3) | وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ |
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā Yasri  | And by the night when it departs. (Al-Fajr 89:4) | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ |
Hal Fī Dhālika Qasamun Lidhī Ĥijrin  | There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! (Al-Fajr 89:5) | هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَم ٌ لِذِي حِجْر ٍ |
'Alam Tara Kayfa Fa`ala Rabbuka Bi`ādin  | Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? (Al-Fajr 89:6) | أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَاد ٍ |
'Irama Dhāti Al-`Imādi  | Who were very tall like lofty pillars, (Al-Fajr 89:7) | إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ |
Allatī Lam Yukhlaq Mithluhā Fī Al-Bilādi  | The like of which were not created in the land? (Al-Fajr 89:8) | الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلاَدِ |
Wa Thamūda Al-Ladhīna Jābū Aş-Şakhra Bil-Wādi  | And (with) Thamûd (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? (Al-Fajr 89:9) | وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ |
Wa Fir`awna Dhī Al-'Awtādi  | And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)? (Al-Fajr 89:10) | وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الأَوْتَادِ |
Al-Ladhīna Ţaghaw Fī Al-Bilādi  | Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allāh). (Al-Fajr 89:11) | الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلاَدِ |
Fa'aktharū Fīhā Al-Fasāda  | And made therein much mischief. (Al-Fajr 89:12) | فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ |
Faşabba `Alayhim Rabbuka Sawţa `Adhābin  | So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. (Al-Fajr 89:13) | فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَاب ٍ |
'Inna Rabbaka Labiālmirşādi  | Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). (Al-Fajr 89:14) | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ |
Fa'ammā Al-'Insānu 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Rabbuhu Fa'akramahu Wa Na``amahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Akramani  | As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." (Al-Fajr 89:15) | فَأَمَّا الإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ فَأَكْرَمَه ُُ وَنَعَّمَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ |
Wa 'Ammā 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Faqadara `Alayhi Rizqahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Ahānani  | But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" (Al-Fajr 89:16) | وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ |
Kallā Bal Lā Tukrimūna Al-Yatīma  | Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! (Al-Fajr 89:17) | كَلاَّ بَل لاَ تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ |
Wa Lā Taĥāđđūna `Alá Ţa`āmi Al-Miskīni  | And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskīn (the poor)! (Al-Fajr 89:18) | وَلاَ تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ |
Wa Ta'kulūna At-Turātha 'Aklāan Lammāan  | And you devour inheritance all with greed, (Al-Fajr 89:19) | وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلا ً لَمّا ً |
Wa Tuĥibbūna Al-Māla Ĥubbāan Jammāan  | And you love wealth with much love! (Al-Fajr 89:20) | وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبّا ً جَمّا ً |
Kallā 'Idhā Dukkati Al-'Arđu Dakkāan Dakkāan  | Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, (Al-Fajr 89:21) | كَلاَّ إِذَا دُكَّتِ الأَرْضُ دَكّا ً دَكّا ً |
Wa Jā'a Rabbuka Wa Al-Malaku Şaffāan Şaffāan  | And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, (Al-Fajr 89:22) | وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفّا ً صَفّا ً |
Wa Jī'a Yawma'idhin Bijahannama Yawma'idhin Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Wa 'Anná Lahu Adh-Dhikrá  | And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? (Al-Fajr 89:23) | وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى |
Yaqūlu Yā Laytanī Qaddamtu Liĥayātī  | He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" (Al-Fajr 89:24) | يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي |
Fayawma'idhin Lā Yu`adhdhibu `Adhābahu 'Aĥadun  | So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. (Al-Fajr 89:25) | فَيَوْمَئِذ ٍ لاَ يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ |
Wa Lā Yūthiqu Wathāqahu 'Aĥadun  | And none will bind as He will bind. (Al-Fajr 89:26) | وَلاَ يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ |
Yā 'Ayyatuhā An-Nafsu Al-Muţma'innahu  | (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! (Al-Fajr 89:27) | يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ |
Arji`ī 'Ilá Rabbiki Rāđiyatan Marđīyahan  | "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! (Al-Fajr 89:28) | ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَة ً مَرْضِيَّة ً |
Fādkhulī Fī `Ibādī  | "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, (Al-Fajr 89:29) | فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي |
Wa Adkhulī Jannatī  | "And enter you My Paradise!" (Al-Fajr 89:30) | وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي |
