Lā 'Uqsimu Bihadhā Al-Baladi I swear by this city (Makkah); (Al-Balad 90:1) ‌ ‌‍‍‍ ‌‌
Wa 'Anta Ĥillun Bihadhā Al-Baladi And you are free (from sin, to punish the enemies of Islām on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah), (Al-Balad 90:2) ‌‌‍ ‌‌ ‌‌
Wa Wālidin Wa Mā Walada And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); (Al-Balad 90:3) ‌‌‌ ‌‌ ‌
Laqad Khalaq Al-'Insāna Fī Kabadin Verily, We have created man in toil. (Al-Balad 90:4) ‍‍‍‍‍‌ ‍‍‍‍‍‍
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lan Yaqdira `Alayhi 'Aĥadun Thinks he that none can overcome him? (Al-Balad 90:5) ‌‌ ‍‌‍‍‍‍‌ ‍‍‍‍ ‌
Yaqūlu 'Ahlaktu Mālāan Lubadāan He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" (Al-Balad 90:6) ‌ ‌
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lam Yarahu~ 'Aĥadun Thinks he that none sees him? (Al-Balad 90:7) ‌‌~
'Alam Naj`al Lahu `Aynayni Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? (Al-Balad 90:8) ‍‍‍ ‍
Wa Lisānāan Wa Shafatayni And a tongue and a pair of lips? (Al-Balad 90:9) ‌ ‌
Wa Hadaynāhu An-Najdayni And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? (Al-Balad 90:10) ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍
Falā Aqtaĥama Al-`Aqabata But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. (Al-Balad 90:11) ‍‍‍‍‍‍
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Al-`Aqabatu And what will make you know the path that is steep? (Al-Balad 90:12) ‌ ‌‍‌‍‍‍‍
Fakku Raqabatin (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.). (Al-Balad 90:13) ‌‍‍‍
'Aw 'Iţ`āmun Fī Yawmin Dhī Masghabatin Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), (Al-Balad 90:14) ‌‌ ‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌ ‍‌ ‌ ‍‍‍‍‍
Yatīmāan Dhā Maqrabatin To an orphan near of kin. (Al-Balad 90:15) ‌ ‌‌‌ ‍‍‍‍‍
'Aw Miskīnāan Dhā Matrabatin Or to a Miskīn (poor) afflicted with misery. (Al-Balad 90:16) ‌‌ ‌‌ ‌‌‌ ‍
Thumma Kāna Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Tawāşaw Biş-Şabri Wa Tawāşaw Bil-Marĥamati Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. (Al-Balad 90:17) ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍ ‌‌ ‌‌‍‌‌ ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌ ‌‌‍‌‌ ‍
'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Maymanati They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), (Al-Balad 90:18) ‍‍‌‍‍‍ ‌‍‍‍‍‍
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi'āyātinā Hum 'Aşĥābu Al-Mash'amati But those who disbelieved in Our Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). (Al-Balad 90:19) ‍‍‍‍ ‌‌ ‌ ‌‍‍‍‍‍
`Alayhim Nārun Mu'uşadatun The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. (Al-Balad 90:20) ‍‍‌ ‍‍‍‍‍
