'Idhā Ash-Shamsu Kūwirat  | When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). (At-Takwir 81:1) | إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā An-Nujūmu Ankadarat  | And when the stars shall fall; (At-Takwir 81:2) | وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jibālu Suyyirat  | And when the mountains shall made to pass away; (At-Takwir 81:3) | وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-`Ishāru `Uţţilat  | And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; (At-Takwir 81:4) | وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Wuĥūshu Ĥushirat  | And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; (At-Takwir 81:5) | وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Biĥāru Sujjirat  | And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; (At-Takwir 81:6) | وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā An-Nufūsu Zūwijat  | And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; (At-Takwir 81:7) | وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Maw'ūdatu Su'ilat  | And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. (At-Takwir 81:8) | وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ |
Bi'ayyi Dhanbin Qutilat  | For what sin she was killed? (At-Takwir 81:9) | بِأَيِّ ذَنْب ٍ قُتِلَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Aş-Şuĥufu Nushirat  | And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; (At-Takwir 81:10) | وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā As-Samā'u Kushiţat  | And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; (At-Takwir 81:11) | وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jaĥīmu Su``irat  | And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze (At-Takwir 81:12) | وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jannatu 'Uzlifat  | And when Paradise shall be brought near, (At-Takwir 81:13) | وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ |
`Alimat Nafsun Mā 'Aĥđarat  | (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). (At-Takwir 81:14) | عَلِمَتْ نَفْس ٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ |
Falā 'Uqsimu Bil-Khunnasi  | So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). (At-Takwir 81:15) | فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ |
Al-Jawāri Al-Kunnasi  | And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, (At-Takwir 81:16) | الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ |
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā `As`asa  | And by the night as it departs; (At-Takwir 81:17) | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ |
Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā Tanaffasa  | And by the dawn as it brightens; (At-Takwir 81:18) | وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ |
'Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin  | Verily, this is the Word (this Qur'ān brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allāh to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. (At-Takwir 81:19) | إِنَّه ُُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُول ٍ كَرِيم ٍ |
Dhī Qūwatin `Inda Dhī Al-`Arshi Makīnin  | Owner of power, and high rank with (Allāh) the Lord of the Throne, (At-Takwir 81:20) | ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِين ٍ |
Muţā`in Thamma 'Amīnin  | Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). (At-Takwir 81:21) | مُطَاع ٍ ثَمَّ أَمِين ٍ |
Wa Mā Şāĥibukum Bimajnūnin  | And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; (At-Takwir 81:22) | وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُون ٍ |
Wa Laqad Ra'āhu Bil-'Ufuqi Al-Mubīni  | And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). (At-Takwir 81:23) | وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ |
Wa Mā Huwa `Alá Al-Ghaybi Biđanīnin  | And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. (At-Takwir 81:24) | وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِين ٍ |
Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shayţānin Rajīmin  | And it (the Qur'ān) is not the word of the outcast Shaitān (Satan). (At-Takwir 81:25) | وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَان ٍ رَجِيم ٍ |
Fa'ayna Tadh/habūna  | Then where are you going? (At-Takwir 81:26) | فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ |
'In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna  | Verily, this (the Qur'ān) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamīn (mankind and jinns). (At-Takwir 81:27) | إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْر ٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ |
Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yastaqīma  | To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, (At-Takwir 81:28) | لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ |
Wa Mā Tashā'ūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Allāhu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna  | And you will not, unless (it be) that Allāh wills, the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (At-Takwir 81:29) | وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
