`Abasa Wa Tawallá  | (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, ('Abasa 80:1) | عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى |
'An Jā'ahu Al-'A`má  | Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullāh bin Umm-Maktûm, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). ('Abasa 80:2) | أَنْ جَاءَهُ الأَعْمَى |
Wa Mā Yudrīka La`allahu Yazzakká  | But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? ('Abasa 80:3) | وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّه ُُ يَزَّكَّى |
'Aw Yadhdhakkaru Fatanfa`ahu Adh-Dhikrá  | Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? ('Abasa 80:4) | أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى |
'Ammā Mani Astaghná  | As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, ('Abasa 80:5) | أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى |
Fa'anta Lahu Taşaddá  | To him you attend; ('Abasa 80:6) | فَأَنْتَ لَه ُُ تَصَدَّى |
Wa Mā `Alayka 'Allā Yazzakká  | What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allāh). ('Abasa 80:7) | وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلاَّ يَزَّكَّى |
Wa 'Ammā Man Jā'aka Yas`á  | But as to him who came to you running. ('Abasa 80:8) | وَأَمَّا مَنْ جَاءَكَ يَسْعَى |
Wa Huwa Yakhshá  | And is afraid (of Allāh and His Punishment), ('Abasa 80:9) | وَهُوَ يَخْشَى |
Fa'anta `Anhu Talahhá  | Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, ('Abasa 80:10) | فَأَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّى |
Kallā 'Innahā Tadhkirahun  | Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Qur'ān) are an admonition, ('Abasa 80:11) | كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَة ٌ |
Faman Shā'a Dhakarahu  | So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. ('Abasa 80:12) | فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ |
Fī Şuĥufin Mukarramahin  | (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz). ('Abasa 80:13) | فِي صُحُف ٍ مُكَرَّمَة ٍ |
Marfū`atin Muţahharahin  | Exalted (in dignity), purified, ('Abasa 80:14) | مَرْفُوعَة ٍ مُطَهَّرَة ٍ |
Bi'aydī Safarahin  | In the hands of scribes (angels). ('Abasa 80:15) | بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَة ٍ |
Kirāmin Bararahin  | Honourable and obedient. ('Abasa 80:16) | كِرَام ٍ بَرَرَة ٍ |
Qutila Al-'Insānu Mā 'Akfarahu  | Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! ('Abasa 80:17) | قُتِلَ الإِنْسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ |
Min 'Ayyi Shay'in Khalaqahu  | From what thing did He create him? ('Abasa 80:18) | مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ |
Min Nuţfatin Khalaqahu Faqaddarahu  | From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; ('Abasa 80:19) | مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ خَلَقَه ُُ فَقَدَّرَهُ |
Thumma As-Sabīla Yassarahu  | Then He makes the Path easy for him; ('Abasa 80:20) | ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ |
Thumma 'Amātahu Fa'aqbarahu  | Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; ('Abasa 80:21) | ثُمَّ أَمَاتَه ُُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ |
Thumma 'Idhā Shā'a 'Ansharahu  | Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). ('Abasa 80:22) | ثُمَّ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْشَرَهُ |
Kallā Lammā Yaqđi Mā 'Amarahu  | Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. ('Abasa 80:23) | كَلاَّ لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَا أَمَرَهُ |
Falyanžuri Al-'Insānu 'Ilá Ţa`āmihi  | Then let man look at his food, ('Abasa 80:24) | فَلْيَنْظُرِ الإِنسَانُ إِلَى طَعَامِهِ |
'Annā Şababnā Al-Mā'a Şabbāan  | That We pour forth water in abundance, ('Abasa 80:25) | أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا الْمَاءَ صَبّا ً |
Thumma Shaqaqnā Al-'Arđa Shaqqāan  | And We split the earth in clefts, ('Abasa 80:26) | ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الأَرْضَ شَقّا ً |
Fa'anbatnā Fīhā Ĥabbāan  | And We cause therein the grain to grow, ('Abasa 80:27) | فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبّا ً |
Wa `Inabāan Wa Qađbāan  | And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), ('Abasa 80:28) | وَعِنَبا ً وَقَضْبا ً |
Wa Zaytūnāan Wa Nakhlāan  | And olives and date-palms, ('Abasa 80:29) | وَزَيْتُونا ً وَنَخْلا ً |
Wa Ĥadā'iqa Ghulbāan  | And gardens, dense with many trees, ('Abasa 80:30) | وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبا ً |
Wa Fākihatan Wa 'Abbāan  | And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), ('Abasa 80:31) | وَفَاكِهَة ً وَأَبّا ً |
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum  | (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. ('Abasa 80:32) | مَتَاعا ً لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ |
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aş-Şākhkhahu  | Then, when there comes As-Sākhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), ('Abasa 80:33) | فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الصَّاخَّةُ |
Yawma Yafirru Al-Mar'u Min 'Akhīhi  | That Day shall a man flee from his brother, ('Abasa 80:34) | يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ |
Wa 'Ummihi Wa 'Abīhi  | And from his mother and his father, ('Abasa 80:35) | وَأُمِّه ِِ وَأَبِيهِ |
Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa Banīhi  | And from his wife and his children. ('Abasa 80:36) | وَصَاحِبَتِه ِِ وَبَنِيهِ |
Likulli Amri'in Minhum Yawma'idhin Sha'nun Yughnīhi  | Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. ('Abasa 80:37) | لِكُلِّ امْرِئ ٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ شَأْن ٌ يُغْنِيهِ |
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Musfirahun  | Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). ('Abasa 80:38) | وُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ مُسْفِرَة ٌ |
Đāĥikatun Mustabshirahun  | Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). ('Abasa 80:39) | ضَاحِكَة ٌ مُسْتَبْشِرَة ٌ |
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin `Alayhā Ghabarahun  | And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; ('Abasa 80:40) | وَوُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَة ٌ |
Tarhaquhā Qatarahun  | Darkness will cover them, ('Abasa 80:41) | تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَة ٌ |
'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Kafaratu Al-Fajarahu  | Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allāh, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). ('Abasa 80:42) | أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْكَفَرَةُ الْفَجَرَةُ |
