(The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, ('Abasa 80:1)
'An Jā'ahu Al-'A`má
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullāh bin Umm-Maktûm, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). ('Abasa 80:2)
Wa Mā Yudrīka La`allahu Yazzakká
But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? ('Abasa 80:3)
'Aw Yadhdhakkaru Fatanfa`ahu Adh-Dhikrá
Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? ('Abasa 80:4)
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, ('Abasa 80:5)
Fa'anta Lahu Taşaddá
To him you attend; ('Abasa 80:6)
Wa Mā `Alayka 'Allā Yazzakká
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allāh). ('Abasa 80:7)
Wa 'Ammā Man Jā'aka Yas`á
But as to him who came to you running. ('Abasa 80:8)
Wa Huwa Yakhshá
And is afraid (of Allāh and His Punishment), ('Abasa 80:9)
Fa'anta `Anhu Talahhá
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, ('Abasa 80:10)
Kallā 'Innahā Tadhkiratun
Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Qur'ān) are an admonition, ('Abasa 80:11)
FamanShā'a Dhakarahu
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. ('Abasa 80:12)
Fī Şuĥufin Mukarramatin
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz). ('Abasa 80:13)
Marfū`atin Muţahharatin
Exalted (in dignity), purified, ('Abasa 80:14)
Bi'aydī Safaratin
In the hands of scribes (angels). ('Abasa 80:15)
Kirāmin Bararatin
Honourable and obedient. ('Abasa 80:16)
Qutila Al-'Insānu Mā 'Akfarahu
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! ('Abasa 80:17)
Min 'Ayyi Shay'in Khalaqahu
From what thing did He create him? ('Abasa 80:18)
Min Nuţfatin Khalaqahu Faqaddarahu
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; ('Abasa 80:19)
Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). ('Abasa 80:38)
Đāĥikatun Mustabshiratun
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). ('Abasa 80:39)
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin `Alayhā Ghabaratun
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; ('Abasa 80:40)
Tarhaquhā Qataratun
Darkness will cover them, ('Abasa 80:41)
'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Kafaratu Al-Fajaratu
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allāh, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). ('Abasa 80:42)
