By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (An-Nazi'at 79:1)
وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقاً
Wa An-Nāshiţāti Nashţāan
By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (An-Nazi'at 79:2)
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطاً
Wa As-Sābiĥāti Sabĥāan
And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). (An-Nazi'at 79:3)
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحاً
Fālssābiqāti Sabqāan
And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (An-Nazi'at 79:4)
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقاً
Fālmudabbirāti 'Amrāan
And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (An-Nazi'at 79:5)
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْراً
Yawma Tarjufu Ar-Rājifatu
On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (An-Nazi'at 79:6)
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
Tatba`uhā Ar-Rādifatu
The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), (An-Nazi'at 79:7)
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ
Qulūbun Yawma'idhin Wājifatun
(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. (An-Nazi'at 79:8)
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
'Abşāruhā Khāshi`atun
Their eyes cast down. (An-Nazi'at 79:9)
أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ
Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Lamardūdūna Fī Al-Ĥāfirati
They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (An-Nazi'at 79:10)
And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", (An-Nazi'at 79:18)
فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ تَزَكَّى
Wa 'Ahdiyaka 'Ilá Rabbika Fatakhshá
And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? (An-Nazi'at 79:19)
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى
Fa'arāhu Al-'Āyata Al-Kubrá
Then [Mûsa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). (An-Nazi'at 79:20)
فَأَرَاهُ الآيَةَ الْكُبْرَى
Fakadhdhaba Wa `Aşá
But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (An-Nazi'at 79:21)
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَى
Thumma 'Adbara Yas`á
Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allāh). (An-Nazi'at 79:22)
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَى
Faĥashara Fanādá
Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (An-Nazi'at 79:23)
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى
Faqāla 'Anā Rabbukumu Al-'A`lá
Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (An-Nazi'at 79:24)
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الأَعْلَى
Fa'akhadhahu Allāhu Nakāla Al-'Ākhirati Wa Al-'Ūlá
So Allāh, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (An-Nazi'at 79:25)
