Wa A l-Mursalā ti `Urfāan
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allāh) sent forth one after another. (Al-Mursalat 77:1)
وَالْمُرْسَلاَتِ عُرْفاً
Fāl`āş ifā ti `Aş fāan
And by the winds that blow violently, (Al-Mursalat 77:2)
فَالْعَاصِ فَا تِ عَصْ فاً
Wa A n -Nāsh ir ā ti Nash rā an
And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; (Al-Mursalat 77:3)
وَالنَّ اشِرَ ا تِ نَشْراً
Fālfār iq ā ti Farq āan
And by the Verses (of the Qur'ān) that separate the right from the wrong. (Al-Mursalat 77:4)
فَالْفَار ِقَ ا تِ فَرْق اً
Fālmulq iyā ti Dh ikrā an
And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, (Al-Mursalat 77:5)
فَالْمُلْقِ يَا تِ ذِكْراً
`Udh rā an 'Aw Nudh rā an
To cut off all excuses or to warn; (Al-Mursalat 77:6)
عُذْراً أَوْ نُذْراً
'Inn amā Tū`adū na Lawāq i`un
Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. (Al-Mursalat 77:7)
إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُو نَ لَوَاق ِ عٌ
Fa'idh ā A n -Nujū mu Ţ umisat
Then when the stars lose their lights; (Al-Mursalat 77:8)
فَإِذَا ا ل نُّ جُو مُ طُ مِسَتْ
Wa 'Idh ā A s-Samā 'u Fur ij at
And when the heaven is cleft asunder; (Al-Mursalat 77:9)
وَإِذَا ا ل سَّمَا ءُ فُر ِجَ تْ
Wa 'Idh ā A l-Jibā lu Nusifat
And when the mountains are blown away; (Al-Mursalat 77:10)
وَإِذَا ا لْجِبَا لُ نُسِفَتْ
Wa 'Idh ā A r-Ru sulu 'Uq q itat
And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; (Al-Mursalat 77:11)
وَإِذَا ا ل رُّسُلُ أُقِّ تَتْ
L'ay yi Yaw min 'Ujjilat
For what Day are these signs postponed? (Al-Mursalat 77:12)
لأَيِّ يَوْ مٍ أُجِّلَتْ
Liyaw mi A l-Faş li
For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). (Al-Mursalat 77:13)
لِيَوْ مِ ا لْفَصْ لِ
Wa Mā 'Ad r ā ka Mā Yaw mu A l-Faş li
And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? (Al-Mursalat 77:14)
وَمَا أَد ْرَ ا كَ مَا يَوْ مُ ا لْفَصْ لِ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:15)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
'Alam Nuhliki A l-'Awwalī na
Did We not destroy the ancients? (Al-Mursalat 77:16)
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Th umm a Nutbi`uhumu A l-'Ākh r ī na
So shall We make later generations to follow them. (Al-Mursalat 77:17)
ثُمّ َ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ا لآخِ ر ِينَ
Kadh ālika Naf`alu Bil-Muj r imī na
Thus do We deal with the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)! (Al-Mursalat 77:18)
كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِا لْمُجْ ر ِمِينَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:19)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
'Alam Nakh q m Min Mā 'in Mahī nin
Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? (Al-Mursalat 77:20)
أَلَمْ نَخْ لُقْ كُمْ مِن ْ مَا ءٍ مَهِينٍ
Faja`alnā hu Fī Q ar ā r in Makī nin
Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), (Al-Mursalat 77:21)
فَجَعَلْنَا هُ فِي قَ رَ ا رٍ مَكِينٍ
'Ilá Q adar in Ma`lū min
For a known period (determined by gestation)? (Al-Mursalat 77:22)
إِلَى قَ دَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ
Faq adarnā Fani`ma A l-Q ādirū na
So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). (Al-Mursalat 77:23)
فَقَ دَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ا لْقَ ادِرُونَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:24)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
'Alam Naj `ali A l-'Arđa Kifātāan
Have We not made the earth a receptacle? (Al-Mursalat 77:25)
أَلَمْ نَجْ عَلِ ا لأَرْضَ كِفَاتاً
'Aĥyā 'an Wa 'Am wātāan
For the living and the dead. (Al-Mursalat 77:26)
أَحْيَا ء ً وَأَمْوَاتاً
Wa Ja`alnā Fīhā Ra wāsiya Sh āmikh ā tin Wa 'Asq aynākum Mā 'an Furā tāan
And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? (Al-Mursalat 77:27)
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَ وَاسِيَ شَامِخَ ا تٍ وَأَسْقَ يْنَاكُمْ مَا ء ً فُرَ اتاً
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:28)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
A n ţ aliq ū 'Ilá Mā Kun tum Bihi Tukadh dh ibū na
(It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! (Al-Mursalat 77:29)
ا ن طَ لِقُ و ا إِلَى مَا كُن تُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
A n ţ aliq ū 'Ilá Ž illin Dh ī Th alāth i Sh u`ab in
"Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, (Al-Mursalat 77:30)
ا ن طَ لِقُ و ا إِلَى ظِ لٍّ ذِي ثَلاَثِ شُعَبٍ
Lā Ž alī lin Wa Lā Yugh A ll āhabi
"Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." (Al-Mursalat 77:31)
لاَ ظَ لِي لٍ وَلاَ يُغْ نِي مِنَ ا للَّ هَبِ
'Inn ahā Tarmī Bish ara r in Kālq aş r i
Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], (Al-Mursalat 77:32)
إِنَّ هَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَ رٍ كَالْقَ صْ ر ِ
Ka'ann ahu Jimālatun Ş ufru n
As if they were Jimālatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." (Al-Mursalat 77:33)
كَأَنَّ هُ جِمَالَةٌ صُ فْرٌ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:34)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Hādh ā Yaw mu Lā Yan ţ iq ū na
That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), (Al-Mursalat 77:35)
هَذَا يَوْ مُ لاَ يَن طِ قُ ونَ
Wa Lā Yu'udh anu Lahum Faya`tadh irū na
And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. (Al-Mursalat 77:36)
وَلاَ يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:37)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Hādh ā Yaw mu A l-Faş li ۖ Jama`nākum Wa A l-'Awwalī na
That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! (Al-Mursalat 77:38)
هَذَا يَوْ مُ ا لْفَصْ لِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَا لأَوَّلِينَ
Fa'in Kā na Lakum Kay dun Fakīdū ni
So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allāh)! (Al-Mursalat 77:39)
فَإِن ْ كَا نَ لَكُمْ كَيْ دٌ فَكِيدُونِ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:40)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
'Inn a A l-Muttaq ī na Fī Ž ilā lin Wa `Uyū nin
Verily, the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs. (Al-Mursalat 77:41)
إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِ ي نَ فِي ظِ لاَلٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Wa Fawākiha Mimm ā Yash tahū na
And fruits, such as they desire. (Al-Mursalat 77:42)
وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّ ا يَشْتَهُونَ
Kulū Wa A sh ra bū Hanī 'ā an Bimā Kun tum Ta`malū na
"Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do. (Al-Mursalat 77:43)
كُلُوا وَا رَ بُوا هَنِي ئا ً بِمَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers). (Al-Mursalat 77:44)
إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:45)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Kulū Wa Tamatta`ū Q alīlāan 'Inn akum Muj r imū na
(O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.). (Al-Mursalat 77:46)
كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَ لِيلا ً إِنَّ كُمْ مُجْ ر ِمُونَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:47)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Wa 'Idh ā Q ī la Lahumu A ū na
And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers). (Al-Mursalat 77:48)
وَإِذَا قِ ي لَ لَهُمُ ا ا لاَ يَرْكَعُونَ
Way lun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (Al-Mursalat 77:49)
وَيْ لٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Fabi'ay yi Ĥadīth in Ba`dahu Yu'uminū na
Then in what statement after this (the Qur'ān) will they believe? (Al-Mursalat 77:50)
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِي ث ٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ
