| Lilkāfiryna Laysa Lahu Dāfi`un (Al-Ma`ārij: 2).

For the disbelievers; none can repel it.

لِلْكَافِرينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ |
| Mina Allāhi Dhī Al-Ma`āriji (Al-Ma`ārij: 3).
|
From God, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.
070003 |
مِنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ |
| Ta`ruju Al-Malā'ikatu Wa Ar-Rūĥu 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqdāruhu Khamsīna 'Alfa Sanahin (Al-Ma`ārij: 4).
|
Unto Him the angels and the Spirit ascend on a Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years.
070004 |
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ |
| Fāşbir Şabrāan Jamīlāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 5).
|
So be patient, with sweet patience.
070005 |
فَاصْبِرْ صَبْراً جَمِيلاً |
| 'Innahum Yarawnahu Ba`īdāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 6).
|
They see it distant.
070006 |
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيداً |
| Wa Narāhu Qarībāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 7).
|
But We see it near.
070007 |
وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيباً |
| Yawma Takūnu As-Samā'u Kālmuhli (Al-Ma`ārij: 8).
|
On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass.
070008 |
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ |
| Wa Takūnu Al-Jibālu Kāl`ihni (Al-Ma`ārij: 9).
|
And the mountains will be like tufted wool.
070009 |
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ |
| Wa Lā Yas'alu Ĥamīmun Ĥamīmāan (Al-Ma`ārij: 10).
|
No friend will care about his friend.
070010 |
وَلاَ يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيماً |
| Yubaşşarūnahum ۚ Yawaddu Al-Mujrimu Law Yaftadī Min `Adhābi Yawmi'idhin Bibanīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 11).
|
They will be shown each other. The criminal wishes he would be redeemed from the punishment of that Day by his children.

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ |
| Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa 'Akhīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 12).
|
And his spouse, and his brother.
070012 |
وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ |
| Wa Faşīlatihi Allatī Tu'uwyhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 13).
|
And his family that sheltered him.
070013 |
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْويهِ |
| Wa Man Fī Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Thumma Yunjīhi (Al-Ma`ārij: 14).
|
And everyone on earth, in order to save him.
070014 |
وَمَنْ فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعاً ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ |
| Kallā ۖ 'Innahā Lažá (Al-Ma`ārij: 15).
|
By no means! It is a Raging Fire.
070015 |
كَلاَّ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَى |
| Nazzā`atan Lilshshawá (Al-Ma`ārij: 16).
|
It strips away the scalps.
070016 |
نَزَّاعَة ً لِلشَّوَى |
| Tad`ū Man 'Adbara Wa Tawallá (Al-Ma`ārij: 17).
|
It invites him who once turned his back and fled.
070017 |
تَدْعُوا مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى |
| Wa Jama`a Fa'aw`á (Al-Ma`ārij: 18).
|
And accumulated and hoarded.
070018 |
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَى |
| 'Inna Al-'Insāna Khuliqa Halū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 19).
|
Man was created restless.
070019 |
إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعاً |
| 'Idhā Massahu Ash-Sharru Jazū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 20).
|
Touched by adversity, he is fretful.
070020 |
إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعاً |
| Wa 'Idhā Massahu Al-Khayru Manū`āan (Al-Ma`ārij: 21).
|
Touched by good, he is ungenerous.
070021 |
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعاً |
| 'Illā Al-Muşallīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 22).
|
Except the prayerful.
070022 |
إِلاَّ الْمُصَلِّينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Dā'imūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 23).
|
Those who are constant at their prayers.
070023 |
الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī 'Amwālihim Ĥaqqun Ma`lūmun (Al-Ma`ārij: 24).
|
And those in whose wealth is a rightful share.
070024 |
وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَعْلُومٌ |
| Lilssā'ili Wa Al-Maĥrūmi (Al-Ma`ārij: 25).
|
For the beggar and the deprived.
070025 |
لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Yuşaddiqūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni (Al-Ma`ārij: 26).
|
And those who affirm the Day of Judgment.
070026 |
وَالَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Min `Adhābi Rabbihim Mushfiqūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 27).
|
And those who fear the punishment of their Lord.
070027 |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ |
| 'Inna `Adhāba Rabbihim Ghayru Ma'mūnin (Al-Ma`ārij: 28).
|
Their Lord's punishment is not to be taken for granted.
070028 |
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Lifurūjihim Ĥāfižūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 29).
|
And those who guard their chastity.
070029 |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ |
| 'Illā `Alá 'Azwājihim 'Aw Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhum Fa'innahum Ghayru Malūmīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 30).
|
Except from their spouses or those living under their control, for then they are free of blame.
070030 |
إِلاَّ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ |
| Famani Abtaghá Warā'a Dhālika Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-`Ādūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 31).
|
But whoever seeks to go beyond that"”these are the transgressors.
070031 |
فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Li'mānātihim Wa `Ahdihim Rā`ūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 32).
|
And those who honor their trusts and their pledges.
070032 |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Bishahādātihim Qā'imūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 33).
|
And those who stand by their testimonies.
070033 |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Yuĥāfižūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 34).
|
And those who are dedicated to their prayers.
070034 |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Fī Jannātin Mukramūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 35).
|
These will be honored in Gardens.
070035 |
أُوْلَائِكَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ مُكْرَمُونَ |
| Famāli Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Qibalaka Muhţi`īna (Al-Ma`ārij: 36).
|
What is with those who disbelieve, stretching their necks towards you.
070036 |
فَمَالِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ |
| `Ani Al-Yamīni Wa `Ani Ash-Shimāli `Izīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 37).
|
From the right, and from the left, banding together?
070037 |
عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ |
| 'Aya#5ma`u Kullu Amri'in Minhum 'An Yudkhala Jannata Na`īmin (Al-Ma`ārij: 38).
|
Is every one of them aspiring to be admitted into a Garden of Bliss?
070038 |
أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ |
| Kallā ۖ 'Innā Khalaqnāhum Mimmā Ya`lamūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 39).
|
No indeed! We created them from what they know.
070039 |
كَلاَّ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Falā 'Uqsimu Birabbi Al-Mashāriqi Wa Al-Maghāribi 'Innā Laqādirūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 40).
|
I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We are Able.
070040 |
فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ إِنَّا لَقَادِرُونَ |
| `Alá 'An Nubaddila Khayrāan Minhum Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimasbūqīna (Al-Ma`ārij: 41).
|
To replace them with better than they, and We are not to be outdone.
070041 |
عَلَى أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ خَيْراً مِنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ |
| Fadharhum Yakhūđū Wa Yal`abū Ĥattá Yulāqū Yawmahumu Al-Ladhī Yū`adūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 42).
|
So leave them to blunder and play, until they meet their Day which they are promised.
070042 |
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلاَقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ |
| Yawma Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajdāthi Sirā`āan Ka'annahum 'Ilá Nuşubin Yūfiđūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 43).
|
The Day when they will emerge from the tombs in a rush, as though they were hurrying towards a target.
070043 |
يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعاً كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَى نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ |
| Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun ۚ Dhālika Al-Yawmu Al-Ladhī Kānū Yū`adūna (Al-Ma`ārij: 44).
|
Their eyes cast down; overwhelmed by humiliation. This is the Day which they were promised.
070044 |
خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ |
