وَمَا أَدْ رَ ا كَ مَا ا لْحَا قَّ ةُ
Kadh dh abat Th amū du Wa `Ā dun Bil-Q ār i`ah i (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 4).
Thamood and Aad denied the Catastrophe.

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُو دُ وَعَا دٌ بِا لْقَ ارِ عَةِ
Fa'amm ā Th amū du Fa'uhlikū Biţ -Ţ āgh iyah i (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 5).
As for Thamood, they were annihilated by the Overwhelming.

فَأَمَّ ا ثَمُو دُ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِا ل طَّ اغِ يَةِ
Wa 'Amm ā `Ā dun Fa'uhlikū Bir īĥin Ş arş ar in `Ātiyah in (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 6).
And as for Aad; they were annihilated by a furious, roaring wind.

وَأَمَّ ا عَا دٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِر ِي حٍ صَ رْصَ رٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
Sakh kh ara hā `Alayhim Sab `a Layā lin Wa Th amāniyata 'Ayyā min Ĥusūmāan Fatará A l-Q aw ma Fīhā Ş ar`á Ka'ann ahum 'A`jā zu Nakh lin Kh āwiyah in (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 7).
He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, in succession. You could see the people tossed around, as though they were stumps of hollow palm-trees.

سَخَّ رَ هَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْ عَ لَيَا لٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّا مٍ حُسُوماً فَتَرَ ى ا لْقَ وْ مَ فِيهَا صَ رْعَى كَأَنَّ هُمْ أَعْجَا زُ نَخْ لٍ خَ اوِيَةٍ
Fahal Tará Lahum Min Bāq iyah in (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 8).
Can you see any remnant of them?

فَهَلْ تَرَ ى لَهُمْ مِن ْ بَاقِ يَةٍ
Wa Jā 'a Fir `aw nu Wa Man Q ab lahu Wa A l-Mu'utafikā tu Bil-Kh āţ i'ah i (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 9).
Then Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the Overturned Cities steeped in sin.

وَجَا ءَ فِر ْعَوْ نُ وَمَن ْ قَ بْ لَهُ وَا لْمُؤْتَفِكَا تُ بِا لْخَ اطِ ئَةِ
Fa`aş awā Ra sū la Ra bbihim Fa'akh adh ahum 'Akh dh atan Rā biyah an (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 10).
But they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an overpowering grip.

فَعَصَ وْا رَ سُو لَ رَ بِّهِمْ فَأَخَ ذَهُمْ أَخْ ذَة ً رَ ابِيَةً
'Inn ā Lamm ā Ţ agh á A l-Mā 'u Ĥamalnākum Fī A l-Jār iyah i (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 11).
When the waters overflowed, We carried you in the cruising ship.

إِنَّ ا لَمَّ ا طَ غَ ى ا لْمَا ءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي ا لْجَارِ يَةِ
Linaj `alahā Lakum Tadh kira tan Wa Ta`iyahā 'Udh unun Wā`iyah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 12).
To make it a lesson for you"”so that retaining ears may retain it.

لِنَجْ عَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَ ةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ
Fa'idh ā Nufikh a Fī A ş -Ş ū r i Nafkh atun Wāĥidah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 13).
Then, when the Trumpet is sounded a single time.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ا ل صُّ و رِ نَفْخَ ةٌ وَاحِد َةٌ
Wa Ĥumilati A l-'Arđu Wa A l-Jibā lu Fadukkatā Dakkatan Wāĥidah an (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 14).
And the earth and the mountains are lifted up, and crushed, with a single crush.

وَحُمِلَتِ ا لأَرْضُ وَا لْجِبَا لُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِد َةً
Fayawma 'idh in Waq a`ati A l-Wāq i`ah u (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 15).
On that Day, the Event will come to pass.

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَ عَتِ ا لْوَاقِ عَةُ
Wa A n sh aq q ati A s-Samā 'u Fahiya Yawma'idh in Wāhiyah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 16).
And the heaven will crack; so on that Day it will be frail.

وَان شَقَّ تِ ا ل سَّمَا ءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
Wa A l-Malaku `Alá 'Arjā 'ihā ۚ Wa Yaĥmilu `Arsh a Ra bbika Fawq ahum Yawma'idh in Th amāniyah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 17).
And the angels will be ranged around its borders, while eight will be carrying the Throne of your Lord above them that Day.

وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَى أَرْجَا ئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَ بِّكَ فَوْقَ هُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ
Yawma'idh in Tu`ra đū na Lā Takh fá Min kum Kh āfiyah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 18).
On that Day you will be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden.

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَ ضُ و نَ لاَ تَخْ فَى مِنْ كُمْ خَ افِيَةٌ
Fa'amm ā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Biyamīnihi Fayaq ū lu Hā 'uum A q ra 'ū Kitābī (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 19).
As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, "Here, take my book and read it.

فَأَمَّ ا مَنْ أُ وتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَيَقُ و لُ هَا ؤُمْ ا قْ رَ ءُ وا كِتَابِي
'Inn ī Ž anan tu 'Ann ī Mulā q in Ĥisābiyah (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 20).
I knew I would be held accountable."

إِنِّ ي ظَ نَن تُ أَنِّ ي مُلاَقٍ حِسَابِي َه
Fahuwa Fī `Īsh atin Rā điyah in (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 21).
So he will be in pleasant living.

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَ اضِ يَةٍ
Fī Jann atin `Āliyah in (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 22).
In a lofty Garden.

فِي جَنَّ ةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
Q uţ ūfuhā Dāniyah un (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 23).
Its pickings are within reach.

قُ طُ وفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
Kulū Wa A sh ra bū Hanī 'ā an Bimā 'Aslaftum Fī A l-'Ayyā mi A l-Kh āliyah i (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 24).
"Eat and drink merrily for what you did in the days gone by."

كُلُوا وَا شْرَ بُوا هَنِي ئاً بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي ا لأَيَّا مِ ا لْخَ الِيَةِ
Wa 'Amm ā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Bish imālihi Fayaq ū lu Yā Laytanī Lam 'Ū ta Kitābīh (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 25).
But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, "I wish I was never given my book.

وَأَمَّ ا مَنْ أُ وتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُ و لُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُو تَ كِتَابِي هْ
Wa Lam 'Ad r i Mā Ĥisābīh (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 26).
And never knew what my account was.

وَلَمْ أَدْ رِ مَا حِسَابِي هْ
Yā Laytahā Kānati A l-Q āđiyah a (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 27).
If only it was the end.

يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ا لْقَ اضِ يَةَ
Mā 'Agh ná `Ann ī Mālīh ۜ (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 28).
My money cannot avail me.

مَا أَغْ نَى عَنّ ِي مَالِي هْ
Halaka `Ann ī Sulţ ānīh (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 29).
My power has vanished from me."

هَلَكَ عَنِّ ي سُلْطَ انِي هْ
Kh udh ū hu Fagh ullū hu (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 30).
"Take him and shackle him.

خُ ذُو هُ فَغُ لُّو هُ
Th umm a A l-Jaĥī ma Ş allū hu (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 31).
Then scorch him in the Blaze.
069031
ثُمّ َ ا لْجَحِي مَ صَ لُّو هُ
Th umm a Fī Silsilatin Dh ar`uhā Sab `ū na Dh irā `āan Fāslukū hu (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 32).
Then in a chain which length is seventy cubits tie him up.

ثُمّ َ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْ عُو نَ ذِرَ اعاً فَاسْلُكُو هُ
'Inn ahu Kā na Lā Yu'uminu Bill āhi A l-`Ažī mi (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 33).
For he would not believe in God the Great.

إِنَّ هُ كَا نَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ بِا ل لَّ هِ ا لْعَظ ِي مِ
Wa Lā Yaĥuđđu `Alá Ţ a`ā mi A l-Miskī ni (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 34).
Nor would he advocate the feeding of the destitute.

وَلاَ يَحُضّ ُ عَلَى طَ عَا مِ ا لْمِسْكِي نِ
Falay sa Lahu A l-Yaw ma Hāhunā Ĥamī mun (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 35).
So he has no friend here today.
069035
فَلَيْ سَ لَهُ ا لْيَوْ مَ هَاهُنَا حَمِي مٌ
Wa Lā Ţ a`ā mun 'Illā Min Gh islī nin (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 36).
And no food except scum.
069036
وَلاَ طَ عَا مٌ إِلاَّ مِنْ غِ سْلِي نٍ
Lā Ya'kuluhu 'Illā A l-Kh āţ i'ū na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 37).
Which only the sinners eat."

لاَ يَأْكُلُهُ إِلاَّ ا لْخَ اطِ ئُو نَ
Falā 'Uq simu Bimā Tub ş irū na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 38).
Indeed, I swear by what you see.

فَلاَ أُقْ سِمُ بِمَا تُبْ صِ رُو نَ
Wa Mā Lā Tub ş irū na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 39).
And by what you do not see.

وَمَا لاَ تُبْ صِ رُو نَ
'Inn ahu Laq aw lu Ra sū lin Kar ī min (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 40).
It is the speech of a noble messenger.
069040
إِنَّ هُ لَقَ وْ لُ رَ سُو لٍ كَرِ ي مٍ
Wa Mā Huwa Biq aw li Sh ā`ir in ۚ Q alīlāan Mā Tu'uminū na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 41).
And it is not the speech of a poet"”little do you believe.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَ وْ لِ شَاعِر ٍ ۚ قَ لِيلاً مَا تُؤْمِنُو نَ
Wa Lā Biq aw li Kāhinin ۚ Q alīlāan Mā Tadh akkarū na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 42).
Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer"”little do you take heed.

وَلاَ بِقَ وْ لِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَ لِيلاً مَا تَذَكَّرُو نَ
Tan zī lun Min Ra bbi A l-`Ālamī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 43).
It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

تَن زِي لٌ مِن ْ رَ بِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Wa Law Taq awwala `Alaynā Ba`đa A l-'Aq āwī li (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 44).
Had he falsely attributed some statements to Us.

وَلَوْ تَقَ وَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ا لأَقَ اوِي لِ
La'akh adh nā Minhu Bil-Yamī ni (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 45).
We would have seized him by the right arm.
069045
لَأَخَ ذْنَا مِنْ هُ بِا لْيَمِي نِ
Th umm a Laq aţ a`nā Minhu A l-Watī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 46).
Then slashed his lifeline.

ثُمّ َ لَقَ طَ عْنَا مِنْ هُ ا لْوَتِي نَ
Famā Min kum Min 'Aĥadin `Anhu Ĥājizī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 47).
And none of you could have restrained Us from him.
069047
فَمَا مِنْ كُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْ هُ حَاجِزِي نَ
Wa 'Inn ahu Latadh kira tun Lilmuttaq ī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 48).
Surely, it is a message for the righteous.
069048
وَإِنَّ هُ لَتَذْكِرَ ة ٌ لِلْمُتَّق ِي نَ
Wa 'Inn ā Lana`lamu 'Ann a Min kum Mukadh dh ibī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 49).
And We know that some of you will reject it.
069049
وَإِنَّ ا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنّ َ مِنْ كُمْ مُكَذِّبِي نَ
Wa 'Inn ahu Laĥasra tun `Alá A l-Kāfir ī na (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 50).
And it is surely a source of grief for the unbelievers.

وَإِنَّ هُ لَحَسْرَ ةٌ عَلَى ا لْكَافِرِ ي نَ
Wa 'Inn ahu Laĥaq q u A l-Yaq ī ni (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 51).
Yet it is the absolute truth.

وَإِنَّ هُ لَحَقُّ ا لْيَق ِي نِ
Fasabbiĥ Biāsmi Ra bbika A l-`Ažī mi (Al-Ĥā q q ah: 52).
So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.

فَسَبِّحْ بِا سْمِ رَ بِّكَ ا لْعَظ ِي مِ
