Q āf ۚ Wa A l-Q ur'ā ni A l-Majī d i (Q āf: 1).
050.001 Qaf: By the Glorious Qur'an (Thou art God's Apostle).
قَ اف ۚ وَا لْقُ رْآنِ ا لْمَجِيدِ
Bal `Ajibū 'An Jā 'ahum Mun dh ir un Minhum Faq ā la A l-Kāfirū na Hādh ā Sh ay 'un `Ajī b un (Q āf: 2).
050.002 But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves. So the Unbelievers say: "This is a wonderful thing!
بَلْ عَجِبُو ا أَن ْ جَا ءَهُمْ مُنْ ذِرٌ مِنْ هُمْ فَقَ ا لَ ا لْكَافِرُو نَ هَذَا شَيْ ءٌ عَجِيبٌ
'A'idh ā Mitnā Wa Kunn ā Turā bāan ۖ Dh ālika Ra j `un Ba`ī d un (Q āf: 3).
050.003 "What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding)."
أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّ ا تُرَ اباً ۖ ذَلِكَ رَ جْ عٌ بَعِيدٌ
Q ad `Alim nā Mā Tan q uş u A l-'Arđu Minhum ۖ Wa `In danā Kitā bun Ĥafīžun (Q āf: 4).
050.004 We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account).
قَ دْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنْ قُ صُ ا لأَرْضُ مِنْ هُمْ ۖ وَعِنْ دَنَا كِتَا بٌ حَفِيظٌ
Bal Kadh dh abū Bil-Ĥaq q i Lamm ā Jā 'ahum Fahum Fī 'Am r in Mar ī j in (Q āf: 5).
050.005 But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: so they are in a confused state.
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِا لْحَقِّ لَمَّ ا جَا ءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَرِ يجٍ
'Afalam Yan žurū 'Ilá A s-Samā 'i Fawq ahum Kay fa Banaynāhā Wa Zayyann āhā Wa Mā Lahā Min Furū j in (Q āf: 6).
050.006 Do they not look at the sky above them?- How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?
أَفَلَمْ يَنْ ظُ رُو ا إِلَى ا ل سَّمَا ءِ فَوْقَ هُمْ كَيْ فَ بَنَيْنَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّ اهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن ْ فُرُوجٍ
Wa A l-'Arđa Madad nāhā Wa 'Alq aynā Fīhā Ra wāsiya Wa 'An batnā Fīhā Min Kulli Zaw jin Bahī j in (Q āf: 7).
050.007 And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)-
وَالأَرْضَ مَدَدْ نَاهَا وَأَلْقَ يْنَا فِيهَا رَ وَاسِيَ وَأَنْ بَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن ْ كُلِّ زَوْ جٍ بَهِيجٍ
Tab ş ira tan Wa Dh ikrá Likulli `Ab din Munī b in (Q āf: 8).
050.008 To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to God).
تَبْ صِ رَ ةً وَذِكْرَ ى لِكُلِّ عَبْ دٍ مُنِيبٍ
Wa Nazzalnā Mina A s-Samā 'i Mā 'an Mubāra kāan Fa'an batnā Bihi Jann ā tin Wa Ĥabba A l-Ĥaş ī d i (Q āf: 9).
050.009 And We send down from the sky rain charted with blessing, and We produce therewith gardens and Grain for harvests;
وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ مَا ءً مُبَارَ كاً فَأَنْ بَتْنَا بِهِ جَنّ َا تٍ وَحَبَّ ا لْحَصِ يدِ
Wa A n -Nakh la Bāsiq ā tin Lahā Ţ al`un Nađī d un (Q āf: 10).
050.010 And tall (and stately) palm-trees, with shoots of fruit-stalks, piled one over another;-
وَالنَّ خْ لَ بَاسِقَ ا تٍ لَهَا طَ لْعٌ نَضِ يدٌ
R izq āan Lil`ibā di ۖ Wa 'Aĥyaynā Bihi Baldatan Maytāan ۚ Kadh ālika A l-Kh urū j u (Q āf: 11).
050.011 As sustenance for (God's) Servants;- and We give (new) life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the Resurrection.
رِ زْق اً لِلْعِبَا دِ ۖ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتاً ۚ كَذَلِكَ ا لْخُ رُوجُ
Kadh dh abat Q ab lahum Q aw mu Nūĥin Wa 'Aş ĥā bu A r-Ra ssi Wa Th amū d u (Q āf: 12).
050.012 Before them was denied (the Hereafter) by the People of Noah, the Companions of the Rass, the Thamud,
كَذَّبَتْ قَ بْ لَهُمْ قَ وْ مُ نُو حٍ وَأَصْ حَا بُ ا ل رَّ سِّ وَثَمُودُ
Wa `Ā dun Wa Fir `aw nu Wa 'Ikh wā nu Lūţ in (Q āf: 13).
050.013 The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,
وَعَا دٌ وَفِر ْعَوْ نُ وَإِخْ وَا نُ لُوطٍ
Wa 'Aş ĥā bu A l-'Aykati Wa Q aw mu Tubba`in ۚ Kullun Kadh dh aba A r-Ru sula Faĥaq q a Wa`ī d i (Q āf: 14).
050.014 The Companions of the Wood, and the People of Tubba'; each one (of them) rejected the apostles, and My warning was duly fulfilled (in them).
وَأَصْ حَا بُ ا لأَيْكَةِ وَقَ وْ مُ تُبَّعٍ ۚ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ ا ل رُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ
'Afa`ayīnā Bil-Kh alq i A l-'Awwali ۚ Bal Hum Fī Lab sin Min Kh alq in Jadī d in (Q āf: 15).
050.015 Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?
أَفَعَيِينَا بِا لْخَ لْقِ ا لأَوَّلِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِي لَبْ سٍ مِن ْ خَ لْق ٍ جَدِيدٍ
Wa Laq ad Kh alaq nā A l-'In sā na Wa Na`lamu Mā Tuwaswi su Bihi Nafsuhu ۖ Wa Naĥnu 'Aq ra bu 'Ilay hi Min Ĥab li A l-War ī d i (Q āf: 16).
050.016 It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.
وَلَقَ دْ خَ لَقْ نَا ا لإِن سَا نَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْ رَ بُ إِلَيْ هِ مِن ْ حَبْ لِ ا لْوَرِ يدِ
'Idh Yatalaq q á A l-Mutalaq q iyā ni `Ani A l-Yamī ni Wa `Ani A sh -Sh imā li Q a`ī d un (Q āf: 17).
050.017 Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.
إِذْ يَتَلَقَّ ى ا لْمُتَلَقِّ يَا نِ عَنِ ا لْيَمِي نِ وَعَنِ ا ل شِّمَا لِ قَ عِيدٌ
Mā Yalfižu Min Q aw lin 'Illā Laday hi Ra q ī bun `Atī d un (Q āf: 18).
050.018 Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).
مَا يَلْفِظُ مِن ْ قَ وْ لٍ إِلاَّ لَدَيْ هِ رَ قِ ي بٌ عَتِيدٌ
Wa Jā 'at Sakra tu A l-Maw ti Bil-Ĥaq q i ۖ Dh ālika Mā Kun ta Minhu Taĥī d u (Q āf: 19).
050.019 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!"
وَجَا ءَتْ سَكْرَ ةُ ا لْمَوْ تِ بِا لْحَقِّ ۖ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنْ تَ مِنْ هُ تَحِيدُ
Wa Nufikh a Fī A ş -Ş ū r i ۚ Dh ālika Yaw mu A l-Wa`ī d i (Q āf: 20).
050.020 And the Trumpet shall be blown: that will be the Day whereof Warning (had been given).
وَنُفِخَ فِي ا ل صُّ و رِ ۚ ذَلِكَ يَوْ مُ ا لْوَعِيدِ
Wa Jā 'at Kullu Nafsin Ma`ahā Sā 'iq un Wa Sh ahī d un (Q āf: 21).
050.021 And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an (angel) to drive, and an (angel) to bear witness.
وَجَا ءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَا ئِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ
Laq ad Kun ta Fī Gh aflatin Min Hādh ā Fakash afnā `An ka Gh iţ ā 'aka Fabaş aru ka A l-Yaw ma Ĥadī d un (Q āf: 22).
050.022 (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!"
لَقَ دْ كُنْ تَ فِي غَ فْلَةٍ مِن ْ هَذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْ كَ غِ طَ ا ءَكَ فَبَصَ رُكَ ا لْيَوْ مَ حَدِيدٌ
Wa Q ā la Q ar īnuhu Hādh ā Mā Laday ya `Atī d un (Q āf: 23).
050.023 And his Companion will say: "Here is (his Record) ready with me!"
وَقَ ا لَ قَ رِ ينُهُ هَذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ
'Alq iyā Fī Jahann ama Kulla Kaffā r in `Anī d in (Q āf: 24).
050.024 (The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of God)!-
أَلْقِ يَا فِي جَهَنَّ مَ كُلَّ كَفَّا رٍ عَنِيدٍ
Mann ā `in Lilkh ay r i Mu`tadin Mur ī b in (Q āf: 25).
050.025 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions;
مَنّ َا عٍ لِلْخَ يْ رِ مُعْتَدٍ مُرِ يبٍ
Al-Ladh ī Ja`ala Ma`a A ll āhi 'Ilahāan 'Ākh ara Fa'alq iyā hu Fī A l-`Adh ā bi A sh -Sh adī d i (Q āf: 26).
050.026 "Who set up another god beside God: Throw him into a severe penalty."
ا لَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ ا للَّ هِ إِلَهاً آخَ رَ فَأَلْقِ يَا هُ فِي ا لْعَذَا بِ ا ل شَّدِيدِ
Q ā la Q ar īnuhu Ra bbanā Mā 'Aţ gh aytuhu Wa Lakin Kā na Fī Đ alā lin Ba`ī d in (Q āf: 27).
050.027 His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray."
قَ ا لَ قَ رِ ينُهُ رَ بَّنَا مَا أَطْ غَ يْتُهُ وَلَكِن ْ كَا نَ فِي ضَ لاَلٍ بَعِيدٍ
Q ā la Lā Takh taş imū Laday ya Wa Q ad Q addam tu 'Ilaykum Bil-Wa`ī d i (Q āf: 28).
050.028 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning.
قَ ا لَ لاَ تَخْ تَصِ مُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَ دْ قَ دَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِا لْوَعِيدِ
Mā Yubaddalu A l-Q aw lu Laday ya Wa Mā 'Anā Bižallā min Lil`abī d i (Q āf: 29).
050.029 "The Word changes not before Me, and I do not the least injustice to My Servants."
مَا يُبَدَّلُ ا لْقَ وْ لُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَ لاَّمٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ
Yaw ma Naq ū lu Lijahann ama Hal A m tala'ti Wa Taq ū lu Hal Min Mazī d in (Q āf: 30).
050.030 One Day We will ask Hell, "Art thou filled to the full?" It will say, "Are there any more (to come)?"
يَوْ مَ نَقُ و لُ لِجَهَنَّ مَ هَلْ ا مْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُ و لُ هَلْ مِن ْ مَزِيدٍ
Wa 'Uzlifati A l-Jann atu Lilmuttaq ī na Gh ay ra Ba`ī d in (Q āf: 31).
050.031 And the Garden will be brought nigh to the Righteous,- no more a thing distant.
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ا لْجَنَّ ةُ لِلْمُتَّقِ ي نَ غَ يْ رَ بَعِيدٍ
Hādh ā Mā Tū`adū na Likulli 'Awwā bin Ĥafīžin (Q āf: 32).
050.032 (A voice will say:) "This is what was promised for you,- for every one who turned (to God) in sincere repentance, who kept (His Law),
هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُو نَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّا بٍ حَفِيظٍ
Man Kh ash iya A r-Ra ĥmana Bil-Gh ay bi Wa Jā 'a Biq albin Munī b in (Q āf: 33).
050.033 "Who feared (God) Most Gracious Unseen, and brought a heart turned in devotion (to Him):
مَن ْ خَ شِيَ ا ل رَّ حْمَنَ بِا لْغَ يْ بِ وَجَا ءَ بِقَ لْبٍ مُنِيبٍ
A d kh ulūhā Bisalā min ۖ Dh ālika Yaw mu A l-Kh ulū d i (Q āf: 34).
050.034 "Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life!"
ا دْ خُ لُوهَا بِسَلاَمٍ ۖ ذَلِكَ يَوْ مُ ا لْخُ لُودِ
Lahum Mā Yash ā 'ū na Fīhā Wa Ladaynā Mazī d un (Q āf: 35).
050.035 There will be for them therein all that they wish,- and more besides in Our Presence.
لَهُمْ مَا يَشَا ءُو نَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ
Wa Kam 'Ahlaknā Q ab lahum Min Q arnin Hum 'Ash addu Minhum Baţ sh āan Fanaq q abū Fī A l-Bilā di Hal Min Maĥīş in (Q āf: 36).
050.036 But how many generations before them did We destroy (for their sins),- stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: was there any place of escape (for them)?
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَ بْ لَهُمْ مِن ْ قَ رْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْ هُمْ بَطْ شاً فَنَقَّ بُوا فِي ا لْبِلاَدِ هَلْ مِن ْ مَحِيصٍ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika Ladh ikrá Liman Kā na Lahu Q albun 'Aw 'Alq á A s-Sam `a Wa Huwa Sh ahī d un (Q āf: 37).
050.037 Verily in this is a Message for any that has a heart and understanding or who gives ear and earnestly witnesses (the truth).
إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَذِكْرَ ى لِمَن ْ كَا نَ لَهُ قَ لْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَ ى ا ل سَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ
Wa Laq ad Kh alaq nā A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Fī Sittati 'Ayyā min Wa Mā Massanā Min Lugh ū b in (Q āf: 38).
050.038 We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.
وَلَقَ دْ خَ لَقْ نَا ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّا مٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن ْ لُغُ وبٍ
Fāş bir `Alá Mā Yaq ūlū na Wa Sabbiĥ Biĥam di Ra bbika Q ab la Ţ ulū `i A sh -Sh am si Wa Q ab la A l-Gh urū b i (Q āf: 39).
050.039 Bear, then, with patience, all that they say, and celebrate the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting.
فَاصْ بِر ْ عَلَى مَا يَقُ ولُو نَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَ بِّكَ قَ بْ لَ طُ لُو عِ ا ل شَّمْسِ وَقَ بْ لَ ا لْغُ رُوبِ
Wa Mina A l-Lay li Fasabbiĥhu Wa 'Ad bā ra A s-Sujū d i (Q āf: 40).
050.040 And during part of the night, (also,) celebrate His praises, and (so likewise) after the postures of adoration.
وَمِنَ ا ل لَّيْ لِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَأَدْ بَا رَ ا ل سُّجُودِ
Wa A stami` Yaw ma Yunā di A l-Munā di Min Makā nin Q ar ī b in (Q āf: 41).
050.041 And listen for the Day when the Caller will call out from a place quiet near,-
وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْ مَ يُنَا دِ ا لْمُنَا دِ مِن ْ مَكَا نٍ قَ رِ يبٍ
Yaw ma Yasma`ū na A ş -Ş ayĥata Bil-Ĥaq q i ۚ Dh ālika Yaw mu A l-Kh urū j i (Q āf: 42).
050.042 The Day when they will hear a (mighty) Blast in (very) truth: that will be the Day of Resurrection.
يَوْ مَ يَسْمَعُو نَ ا ل صَّ يْحَةَ بِا لْحَقِّ ۚ ذَلِكَ يَوْ مُ ا لْخُ رُوجِ
'Inn ā Naĥnu Nuĥyī Wa Numī tu Wa 'Ilaynā A l-Maş ī r u (Q āf: 43).
050.043 Verily it is We Who give Life and Death; and to Us is the Final Goal-
إِنَّ ا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِي تُ وَإِلَيْنَا ا لْمَصِ يرُ
Yaw ma Tash aq q aq u A l-'Arđu `Anhum Sirā `āan ۚ Dh ālika Ĥash ru n `Alaynā Yasī r un (Q āf: 44).
050.044 The Day when the Earth will be rent asunder, from (men) hurrying out: that will be a gathering together,- quite easy for Us.
يَوْ مَ تَشَقَّ قُ ا لأَرْضُ عَنْ هُمْ سِرَ اعاً ۚ ذَلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ
Naĥnu 'A`lamu Bimā Yaq ūlū na ۖ Wa Mā 'An ta `Alayhim Bijabbā r in ۖ Fadh akkir Bil-Q ur'ā ni Man Yakh ā fu Wa`ī d i (Q āf: 45).
050.045 We know best what they say; and thou art not one to overawe them by force. So admonish with the Qur'an such as fear My Warning!
نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُ ولُو نَ ۖ وَمَا أَنْ تَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِجَبَّا رٍ ۖ فَذَكِّر ْ بِا لْقُ رْآنِ مَن ْ يَخَ ا فُ وَعِيدِ
