| THIS TWO-SECTION chapter is arranged in 14 verses which date from Madina. It was revealed after Haggling 64 and before the next one on Friday (OR Congregation) 62. The chapter begins with the refrain: "Whatever is in Heaven/and whatever is on Earth/celebrates God...", the same refrain as with Iron 57 and Banishment 59, four and two chapters preceding, and in the one immediately following, Friday (OR Congregation) 62. | Sabbaĥa Lillahi Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | 061-001* Whatever is in Heaven and whatever is on Earth celebrates God. He is the Powerful, the Wise! | سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āamanū Lima Taqūlūna Mā Lā Taf`alūna | 061-002* You who believe, why do you preach something you are not practising? | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لاَ تَفْعَلُونَ |
| Kabura Maqtāan `Inda Al-Lahi 'An Taqūlū Mā Lā Taf`alūna | 061-003* God feels a strong distaste for you to preach something you do not practise. | كَبُرَ مَقْتا ً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا لاَ تَفْعَلُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Laha Yuĥibbu Al-Ladhīna Yuqātilūna Fī Sabīlihi Şaffāan Ka'annahum Bunyānun Marşūşun | 061-004* God loves those who fight for His sake in [battle] ranks as if they were a solid structure. | إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِه ِِ صَفّا ً كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنيَانٌ مَرْصُوص ٌ |
| Wa 'Idh Qāla Mūsá Liqawmihi Yā Qawmi Lima Tu'udhūnanī Wa Qad Ta`lamūna 'Annī Rasūlu Al-Lahi 'Ilaykum ۖ Falammā Zāghū 'Azāgha Al-Lahu Qulūbahum Wa ۚ Allāhu Lā Yahdī Al-Qawma Al-Fāsiqīna | 061-005* Thus Moses told his folk: "My folk, why do you annoy me? You know I am God's messenger to you." When they wavered, God let their hearts waver too; God does not guide immoral folk. A New Messenger Predicted in the Gospel | وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِه ِِ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تُؤْذُونَنِي وَقَدْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا زَاغُوا أَزَاغَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ |
| Wa 'Idh Qāla `Īsá Abnu Maryama Yā Banī 'Isrā'īla 'Innī Rasūlu Al-Lahi 'Ilaykum Muşaddiqāan Limā Bayna Yadayya Mina At-Tawrāati Wa Mubashshirāan Birasūlin Ya'tī Min Ba`dī Asmuhu 'Aĥmadu ۖ Falammā Jā'ahum Bil-Bayyināti Qālū Hādhā Siĥrun Mubīnun | 061-006* So Jesus the son of Mary said: "Children of Israel, I am God's messenger to you, confirming whatever came before me in the Testament and announcing a messenger coming after me whose name will be Ahmad." Yet when he brought them explanations, they said: "This is sheer magic!" The Pagans | وَإِذْ قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ مُصَدِّقا ً لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَمُبَشِّرا ً بِرَسُولٍ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي اسْمُهُ~ُ أَحْمَدُ ۖ فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالُوا هَذَا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ |
| Wa Man 'Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Al-Kadhiba Wa Huwa Yud`á 'Ilá Al-'Islāmi Wa ۚ Allāhu Lā Yahdī Al-Qawma Až-Žālimīna | 061-007* Who is more in the wrong than someone who invents a lie about God while he is being invited to [embrace] Islam? God does not guide such wrongdoing folk. | وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدْعَى إِلَى الإِسْلاَمِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ |
| Yurīdūna Liyuţfi'ū Nūra Al-Lahi Bi'afwāhihim Wa Allāhu Mutimmu Nūrihi Wa Law Kariha Al-Kāfirūna | 061-008* They want to blow God's light out with their mouths while He is Perfecting His light no matter how disbelievers may dislike it. | يُرِيدُونَ لِيُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَاللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِه ِِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī 'Arsala Rasūlahu Bil-Hudá Wa Dīni Al-Ĥaqqi Liyužhirahu `Alá Ad-Dīni Kullihi Wa Law Kariha Al-Mushrikūna | 061-009* He is the One Who has sent His messenger with guidance and the True Religion, so He may have it prevail over every other religion no matter how those who associate [others with God] may hate it. The Spiritual Struggle (ii) | هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَه ُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَه ُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّه ِِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āamanū Hal 'Adullukum `Alá Tijāratin Tunjīkum Min `Adhābin 'Alīmin | 061-010* You who believe, shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from painful torment? | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى تِجَارَة ٍ تُنجِيكُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيم ٍ |
| Tu'uminūna Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Tujāhidūna Fī Sabīli Al-Lahi Bi'amwālikum Wa 'Anfusikum ۚ Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum 'In Kuntum Ta`lamūna | 061-011* You should believe in God and His messenger, and strive in God's way with your property and your persons; that will be better for you if you only knew. | تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِه ِِ وَتُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Yaghfir Lakum Dhunūbakum Wa Yudkhilkum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Wa Masākina Ţayyibatan Fī Jannāti `Adnin ۚ Dhālika Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažīmu | 061-012* He will forgive you your offences and show you into gardens through which rivers flow, and wholesome dwellings in the gardens of Eden. That will be the supreme Achievement! | يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَيُدْخِلْكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَة ً فِي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ ۚ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ |
| Wa 'Ukhrá Tuĥibbūnahā ۖ Naşrun Mina Al-Lahi Wa Fatĥun Qarībun ۗ Wa Bashshiri Al-Mu'uminīna | 061-013* And something else you will love to have: support from God and a victory close at hand. Proclaim such to believers! | وَأُخْرَى تُحِبُّونَهَا ۖ نَصْرٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَفَتْحٌ قَرِيبٌ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āamanū Kūnw 'Anşāra Al-Lahi Kamā Qāla `Īsá Abnu Maryama Lilĥawārīyīna Man 'Anşārī 'Ilá Al-Lahi ۖ Qāla Al-Ĥawārīyūna Naĥnu 'Anşāru Al-Lahi ۖ Fa'āamanat Ţā'ifatun Min Banī 'Isrā'īla Wa Kafarat Ţā'ifatun ۖ Fa'ayyadnā Al-Ladhīna 'Āamanū `Alá `Adūwihim Fa'aşbaĥū Žāhirīna | 061-014* You who believe, act as God's supporters just as Jesus the son of Mary told the disciples: "Who will be my supporters [along the way] towards God?" The disciples said: "We are God's supporters." A faction from the Children of Israel believed, while another faction disbelieved. We assisted the ones who believed against their enemy, till they held the upper hand. | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا كُونوا أَنصَارَ اللَّهِ كَمَا قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ مَنْ أَنصَارِي إِلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ ۖ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنصَارُ اللَّهِ فَآَمَنَتْ ۖ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَكَفَرَتْ طَائِفَةٌ فَأَيَّدْنَا ۖ الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا عَلَى عَدُوِّهِمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا ظَاهِرِينَ |
