| THIS CHAPTER containing 29 verses in four sections from the Madinese period was revealed after The Earthquake 99 and before Muhammad 47. It is composed in a different style from those immediately before and after it, because its verses are longer, like those found in other chapters composed in Madina. It begins in a lyric mood with a hymn to God's omnipresence (i) and then presents a picture of hypocrites begging for light to guide them (ii). Other subjects discussed are showers of rain (iii), different prophets (iv), monasticism and finally God's bounty or grace. | Lahu Mulku As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi ۖ Yuĥyī Wa Yumītu ۖ Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun | 057-002* He holds control over Heaven and Earth. He grants life and brings death; He is Capable of everything! | لَه ُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ۖ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |
| Huwa Al-'Awwalu Wa Al-'Ākhiru Wa Až-Žāhiru Wa Al-Bāţinu ۖ Wa Huwa Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun | 057-003* He is the First and the Last, the Outward and the Innermost. He is Aware of everything! And Omniscience | هُوَ الأَوَّلُ وَالآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Fī Sittati 'Ayyāmin Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi ۚ Ya`lamu Mā Yaliju Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Yakhruju Minhā Wa Mā Yanzilu Mina As-Samā'i Wa Mā Ya`ruju Fīhā ۖ Wa Huwa Ma`akum 'Ayna Mā Kuntum Wa ۚ Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun | 057-004* He is the One Who created Heaven and Earth in six days; then He mounted on the Throne. He knows what penetrates the earth and what issues from it, and what comes down from the sky and what soars up into it. He is with you (all) wherever you may be! God is Observant of anything you do. | هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا ۖ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ |
| Lahu Mulku As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi ۚ Wa 'Ilá Al-Lahi Turja`u Al-'Umūru | 057-005* He holds control over Heaven and Earth; unto God do matters return. | لَه ُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الأُمُورُ |
| Yūliju Al-Layla Fī An-Nahāri Wa Yūliju An-Nahāra Fī Al-Layli ۚ Wa Huwa `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri | 057-006* He wraps night up in daytime; and wraps daytime up in night. He is Aware of whatever is on our minds. | يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ |
| 'Āminū Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi Wa 'Anfiqū Mimmā Ja`alakum Mustakhlafīna Fīhi ۖ Fa-Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Minkum Wa 'Anfaqū Lahum 'Ajrun Kabīrun | 057-007* Believe in God and His messenger, and spend something out of whatever He has let you inherit [from anyone else]. Those of you who believe and spend [on charity and in public service] will have an even larger fee. | آمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِه ِِ وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيه ِِ ۖ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ |
| Wa Mā Lakum Lā Tu'uminūna Bil-Lahi Wa ۙ Ar-Rasūlu Yad`ūkum Litu'uminū Birabbikum Wa Qad 'Akhadha Mīthāqakum 'In Kuntum Mu'uminīna | 057-008* What is wrong with you that you do not believe in God and the Messenger? He invites you (all) to believe in your Lord; He has made an agreement with you, provided you are believers. Early and Late Believers | وَمَا لَكُمْ لاَ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ ۙ وَالرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَاقَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī Yunazzilu `Alá `Abdihi 'Āyātin Bayyinātin Liyukhrijakum Mina Až-Žulumāti 'Ilá An-Nūri ۚ Wa 'Inna Al-Laha Bikum Lara'ūfun Raĥīmun | 057-009* He is the One Who has sent down clear signs upon His servant, so he may lead you out of darkness into Light. God is so Gentle, Merciful with you. | هُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ آيَات ٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوف ٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| Wa Mā Lakum 'Allā Tunfiqū Fī Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Lillahi Mīrāthu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi ۚ Lā Yastawī Minkum Man 'Anfaqa Min Qabli Al-Fatĥi Wa Qātala ۚ 'Ūlā'ika 'A`žamu Darajatan Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Anfaqū Min Ba`du Wa Qātalū ۚ Wa Kullāan Wa`ada Al-Lahu Al-Ĥusná Wa ۚ Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun | 057-010* What is wrong with you that you do not spend anything for God's sake? God holds the heritage of Heaven and Earth. Those among you who have spent and fought before the victory are not equal: those stand higher in rank than the ones who spent and fought later on. God has promised each one the very finest. God is Informed about whatever you do. (ii) | وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلاَّ تُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ۚ لاَ يَسْتَوِي مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ ۚ أُوْلَائِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَة ً مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُوا ۚ وَكُلاّ ً وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَى ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ |
| Man Dhā Al-Ladhī Yuqriđu Al-Laha Qarđāan Ĥasanāan Fayuđā`ifahu Lahu Wa Lahu 'Ajrun Karīmun | 057-011* Who is the one who will advance God a handsome loan? He will double it for him so he [will receive] a generous fee. | مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضا ً حَسَنا ً فَيُضَاعِفَه ُ لَه ُ وَلَهُ~ُ أَجْر ٌ كَرِيم ٌ |
| Yawma Tará Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Yas`á Nūruhum Bayna 'Aydīhim Wa Bi'aymānihim Bushrākumu Al-Yawma Jannātun Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā ۚ Dhālika Huwa Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažīmu | 057-012* Some day you will see believing men and believing women with their light streaming on ahead of them and off to their right: "Your good news today [consists of] gardens through which rivers flow, to live in for ever!" That will be the splendid Achievement. Hypocrites Begging Light | يَوْمَ تَرَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَسْعَى نُورُهُمْ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَانِهِمْ بُشْرَاكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ |
| Yawma Yaqūlu Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Munāfiqātu Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Anžurūnā Naqtabis Min Nūrikum Qīla Arji`ū Warā'akum Fāltamisū Nūrāan Fađuriba Baynahum Bisūrin Lahu Bābun Bāţinuhu Fīhi Ar-Raĥmatu Wa Žāhiruhu Min Qibalihi Al-`Adhābu | 057-013* Some day hypocritical men and hypocritical women will tell the ones who believe: "Wait for us; we need to borrow a fight from you!" Someone will say:"Go on back the way you came, and request a light [somewhere else]!" Their Wall So a wall will rise up between them which will have a door in it; inside there will be mercy while outside facing it there will be torment. | يَوْمَ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا انْظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِنْ نُورِكُمْ قِيلَ ارْجِعُوا وَرَاءَكُمْ فَالْتَمِسُوا نُورا ً فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِسُورٍ لَه ُ بَاب ٌ بَاطِنُه ُ فِيهِ الرَّحْمَةُ وَظَاهِرُه ُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ الْعَذَابُ |
| Yunādūnahum 'Alam Nakun Ma`akum ۖ Qālū Balá Wa Lakinnakum Fatantum 'Anfusakum Wa Tarabbaştum Wa Artabtum Wa Gharratkumu Al-'Amānīyu Ĥattá Jā'a 'Amru Al-Lahi Wa Gharrakum Bil-Lahi Al-Gharūru | 057-014* They will call out to them: "Were we not with you?" They will say: "Of course, but you tempted one another, and let yourselves waver and doubt. [Your saying] 'Amens' [to everybody] has deceived you till God's command came along. The Deceiver has even deluded you concerning God! | يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَى وَلَكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَارْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّى جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ |
| Fālyawma Lā Yu'ukhadhu Minkum Fidyatun Wa Lā Mina Al-Ladhīna Kafarū ۚ Ma'wākumu An-Nāru ۖ Hiya Mawlākum ۖ Wa Bi'sa Al-Maşīru | 057-015* So today no redemption will be accepted from you nor from those who disbelieve: your lodging shall be the Fire; it is your patron and how awful is such a goal!" | فَالْيَوْمَ لاَ يُؤْخَذُ مِنْكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ وَلاَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ مَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ ۖ هِيَ مَوْلاَكُمْ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ |
| 'Alam Ya'ni Lilladhīna 'Āmanū 'An Takhsha`a Qulūbuhum Lidhikri Al-Lahi Wa Mā Nazala Mina Al-Ĥaqqi Wa Lā Yakūnū Kālladhīna 'Ūtū Al-Kitāba Min Qablu Faţāla `Alayhimu Al-'Amadu Faqasat Qulūbuhum ۖ Wa Kathīrun Minhum Fāsiqūna | 057-016* Is it not high time for the hearts of those who believe to submit to God's reminder and any truth that has been sent down? Let them not act like the ones who were given the Book previously: the waiting period seemed too long for them, so their hearts were hardened, and many of them became immoral. | أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَلاَ يَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ |
| A`lamū 'Anna Al-Laha Yuĥyī Al-'Arđa Ba`da Mawtihā ۚ Qad Bayyannā Lakumu Al-'Āyāti La`allakum Ta`qilūna | 057-017* Know that God revives the earth following its death. We have explained signs to you so that you may use your reason. | اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Muşşaddiqīna Wa Al-Muşşaddiqāti Wa 'Aqrađū Al-Laha Qarđāan Ĥasanāan Yuđā`afu Lahum Wa Lahum 'Ajrun Karīmun | 057-018* Charitable men and charitable women who have advanced God a handsome loan will have it doubled for them; they shall have a generous fee. | إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضا ً حَسَنا ً يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْر ٌ كَرِيم ٌ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Bil-Lahi Wa Rusulihi 'Ūlā'ika Humu Aş-Şiddīqūna Wa ۖ Ash-Shuhadā'u `Inda Rabbihim Lahum 'Ajruhum Wa Nūruhum Wa ۖ Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Jaĥīmi | 057-019* Those who believe in God and His messengers act sincerely, and serve as witnesses for their Lord, will have their earnings plus their own light, while those who disbelieve and reject Our signs will become the inmates of Hades. Worldly Life (iii) | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الصِّدِّيقُونَ ۖ وَالشُّهَدَاءُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ |
| A`lamū 'Annamā Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā La`ibun Wa Lahwun Wa Zīnatun Wa Tafākhurun Baynakum Wa Takāthurun Fī Al-'Amwli Wa Al-'Awlādi ۖ Kamathali Ghaythin 'A`jaba Al-Kuffāra Nabātuhu Thumma Yahīju Fatarāhu Muşfarrāan Thumma Yakūnu Ĥuţāmāan ۖ Wa Fī Al-'Ākhirati `Adhābun Shadīdun Wa Maghfiratun Mina Al-Lahi Wa Riđwānun ۚ Wa Mā Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā 'Illā Matā`u Al-Ghurūri | 057-020* Know that worldly life is merely a sport and a pastime [involving] worldly show and competition among yourselves, as well as rivalry in wealth and children. It may be compared to showers where the plantlike amazes the incredulous: then it withers away and you see it turning yellow; soon it will be just stubble. In the Hereafter there will be both severe torment and forgiveness as well as approval on the part of God. Worldly life means only the enjoyment of illusion. | اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الأَمْوالِ وَالأَوْلاَدِ ۖ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُه ُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاه ُ مُصْفَرّا ً ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَاما ً ۖ وَفِي الآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٌ ۚ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ |
| Sābiqū 'Ilá Maghfiratin Min Rabbikum Wa Jannatin `Arđuhā Ka`arđi As-Samā'i Wa Al-'Arđi 'U`iddat Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Bil-Lahi Wa Rusulihi ۚ Dhālika Fađlu Al-Lahi Yu'utīhi Man Yashā'u Wa ۚ Allāhu Dhū Al-Fađli Al-`Ažīmi | 057-021* Compete for forgiveness from your Lord, and a garden broader than the sky plus the earth, which has been prepared for those who believe in God and His messenger. Such is God's bounty which He gives to anyone He wishes. God possesses splendid bounty! Predestination | سَابِقُوا إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِه ِِ ۚ ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| Mā 'Aşāba Min Muşībatin Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Lā Fī 'Anfusikum 'Illā Fī Kitābin Min Qabli 'An Nabra'ahā ۚ 'Inna Dhālika `Alá Al-Lahi Yasīrun | 057-022* No disaster ever happens on earth nor to yourselves unless it is [contained] in a Book even before We brought it into existence. That is easy for God [to do], | مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ إِلاَّ فِي كِتَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَبْرَأَهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ |
| Likaylā Ta'saw `Alá Mā Fātakum Wa Lā Tafraĥū Bimā 'Ātākum Wa ۗ Allāhu Lā Yuĥibbu Kulla Mukhtālin Fakhūrin | 057-023* so that you should not feel sorry about what may have escaped you, nor yet rejoice in what He has given you. God does not love every conceited boaster | لِكَيْلاَ تَأْسَوْا عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلاَ تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yabkhalūna Wa Ya'murūna An-Nāsa Bil-Bukhli ۗ Wa Man Yatawalla Fa'inna Al-Laha Huwa Al-Ghanīyu Al-Ĥamīdu | 057-024* who is miserly and orders people to be miserly. For anyone who turns away from it, God is Transcendent, Praiseworthy. Human Behavior | الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ ۗ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ |
| Laqad 'Arsalnā Rusulanā Bil-Bayyināti Wa 'Anzalnā Ma`ahumu Al-Kitāba Wa Al-Mīzāna Liyaqūma An-Nāsu Bil-Qisţi ۖ Wa 'Anzalnā Al-Ĥadīda Fīhi Ba'sun Shadīdun Wa Manāfi`u Lilnnāsi Wa Liya`lama Al-Lahu Man Yanşuruhu Wa Rusulahu Bil-Ghaybi ۚ 'Inna Al-Laha Qawīyun `Azīzun | 057-025* We have sent Our messengers with explanations, and sent the Book and the Balance down along with them, so that mankind may conduct themselves with all fairness. We have sent iron down laden with grim violence as well as (other) benefits for mankind, so that God may know who supports Him and His messengers even though [He is] Unseen. God is Strong, Powerful. Other Prophets (iv) | لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَأَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيه ِِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُه ُ وَرُسُلَه ُ بِالْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ |
| Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan Wa 'Ibrāhīma Wa Ja`alnā Fī Dhurrīyatihimā An-Nubūwata Wa Al-Kitāba ۖ Faminhum Muhtadin ۖ Wa Kathīrun Minhum Fāsiqūna | 057-026* We sent Noah and Abraham, and granted prophethood and the Book to the offspring of them both. Some of them have accepted guidance while many of them have been immoral. | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحا ً وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ مُهْتَدٍ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ |
| Thumma Qaffaynā `Alá 'Āthārihim Birusulinā Wa Qaffaynā Bi`īsá Abni Maryama Wa 'Ātaynāhu Al-'Injīla Wa Ja`alnā Fī Qulūbi Al-Ladhīna Attaba`ūhu Ra'fatan Wa Raĥmatan Wa Rahbānīyatan Abtada`ūhā Mā Katabnāhā `Alayhim 'Illā Abtighā'a Riđwāni Al-Lahi Famā Ra`awhā Ĥaqqa Ri`āyatihā ۖ Fa'ātaynā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Minhum 'Ajrahum ۖ Wa Kathīrun Minhum Fāsiqūna | 057-027* Then We made Our messengers follow along in their footsteps and We followed them up with Jesus the son of Mary. Christians and Monastcism We gave him the Gospel and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who have followed him, as well as monkhood; yet they initiated it: We did not prescribe it for them-accept through (their) aspiring for God's approval. They do not observe it in the way it should be observed. We gave their earnings to those of them who believe; yet many of them are immoral. God's Bounty OR Grace | ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الإِنجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوه ُ رَأْفَة ً وَرَحْمَة ً وَرَهْبَانِيَّة ً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلاَّ ابْتِغَاءَ رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا ۖ فَآتَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Attaqū Al-Laha Wa 'Āminū Birasūlihi Yu'utikum Kiflayni Min Raĥmatihi Wa Yaj`al Lakum Nūrāan Tamshūna Bihi Wa Yaghfir Lakum Wa ۚ Allāhu Ghafūrun Raĥīmun | 057-028* You who believe, heed God and believe in His messenger; He will give you double shares in His mercy and grant you a fight to walk by as well as forgive you. God is Forgiving, Merciful, | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِه ِِ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِه ِِ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ نُورا ً تَمْشُونَ بِه ِِ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ ۚ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| Li'allā Ya`lama 'Ahlu Al-Kitābi 'Allā Yaqdirūna `Alá Shay'in Min Fađli Al-Lahi ۙ Wa 'Anna Al-Fađla Biyadi Al-Lahi Yu'utīhi Man Yashā'u Wa ۚ Allāhu Dhū Al-Fađli Al-`Ažīmi | 057-029* so let the People of the Book know they can do nothing about God's bounty, since bounty lies [entirely] in God's hand. He gives it to anyone He wishes. God possesses such tremendous grace! | لِئَلاَّ يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلاَّ يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ ۙ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ |
