| THIS CHAPTER is often called the "Heart" of the Quran and sometimes it bears the alternate title of The Sprites. It is frequently read for solace in times of stress such as one faces with deathe or illness. It is traditionally recited at funreals. The entire chapter consists of five sections with 83 middle Meccan verses, all except for v. 45 which dates from Madina. It was revealed just before The Standard 25. The full name of the initials occuring in the title is said to stand for "Ya-insan!" OR "O Man!", or "Everyman", but these letters have become traditional and like those of another title Ta-Ha 20, are now a common man's name. "The Town Which Was Warned" (II) and "The Last Trumpet" (III) are two parables contained in it. Towards the end of the chapter is an apocalyptic description of how the world will end. | Litundhira Qawmāan Mā 'Undhira 'Ābā'uuhum Fahum Ghāfilūna | 036-006* so you may warn a folk whose forefathers have not been warned, and hence they are unaware. Fate and Destiny | لِتُنذِرَ قَوْما ً مَا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ |
| Laqad Ĥaqqa Al-Qawlu `Alá 'Aktharihim Fahum Lā Yu'uminūna | 036-007* The statement has been proven to be true about most of them, yet they still will not believe. | لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| 'Innā Ja`alnā Fī 'A`nāqihim 'Aghlālāan Fahiya 'Ilá Al-'Adhqāni Fahum Muqmaĥūna | 036-008* We have placed fettes around their necks which reach up to their chins till they seem to be out of joint. | إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلاَلا ً فَهِيَ إِلَى الأَذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ |
| Wa Ja`alnā Min Bayni 'Aydīhim Saddāan Wa Min Khalfihim Saddāan Fa'aghshaynāhum Fahum Lā Yubşirūna | 036-009* We have placed a barrier before them and another barrier behind them, and have covered them up so they do not notice anything. | وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدّا ً وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدّا ً فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ |
| Wa Sawā'un `Alayhim 'A'andhartahum 'Am Lam Tundhirhum Lā Yu'uminūna | 036-010* It is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them; they still will not believe. | وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| 'Innamā Tundhiru Mani Attaba`a Adh-Dhikra Wa Khashiya Ar-Raĥmana Bil-Ghaybi ۖ Fabashshirhu Bimaghfiratin Wa 'Ajrin Karīmin | 036-011* You will only warn someone who follows the Reminder and dreads the Mercy-giving even though He is Unseen. Proclaim forgiveness and generous payment to him. | إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ |
| 'Innā Naĥnu Nuĥyi Al-Mawtá Wa Naktubu Mā Qaddamū Wa 'Āthārahum ۚ Wa Kulla Shay'in 'Ĥşaynāhu Fī 'Imāmin Mubīnin | 036-012* We revive the dead and write down whatever they have sent on ahead and [left] as traces; We calculate everythin in an open ledger. The Town Which Was Warned (II) | إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِ الْمَوْتَى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أحْصَيْنَاه ُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ |
| Wa Ađrib Lahum Mathalāan 'Aşĥāba Al-Qaryati 'Idh Jā'ahā Al-Mursalūna | 036-013* Compose a parable for them about the inhabitants of the town when emissaries came to them. | وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلاً أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ |
| 'Idh 'Arsalnā 'Ilayhimu Athnayni Fakadhdhabūhumā Fa`azzaznā Bithālithin Faqālū 'Innā 'Ilaykum Mursalūna | 036-014* When We sent them two, they rejected them both, so We reinforced them with a third. | إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِث ٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ |
| Qālū Mā 'Antum 'Illā Basharun Mithlunā Wa Mā 'Anzala Ar-Raĥmānu Min Shay'in 'In 'Antum 'Illā Takdhibūna | 036-015* They said; "You are only human beings like ourselves. The Mercy-giving has net sent anything down; you are only lying!" | قَالُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمَنُ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلاَّ تَكْذِبُونَ |
| Qālū Rabbunā Ya`lamu 'Innā 'Ilaykum Lamursalūna | 036-016* They said: "Our Lord knows that we have been [sent] to you as emmissaries. | قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ |
| Wa Mā `Alaynā 'Illā Al-Balāghu Al-Mubīnu | 036-017* We have only to proclaim things clearly." | وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلاَّ الْبَلاَغُ الْمُبِينُ |
| Qālū 'Innā Taţayyarnā Bikum ۖ La'in Lam Tantahū Lanarjumannakum Wa Layamassannakum Minnā `Adhābun 'Alīmun | 036-018* They said: "We sense something unlucky about you; so if you will not stop, we'll expel you, and painful torment from us will afflict you." | قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| Qālū Ţā'irukum Ma`akum ۚ 'A'in Dhukkirtum ۚ Bal 'Antum Qawmun Musrifūna | 036-019* They said: "The bad luck you sense lies within yourselves. Will you not be reminded? Indeed you are such dissipated folk!" | قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ |
| Wa Jā'a Min 'Aqşá Al-Madīnati Rajulun Yas`á Qāla Yā Qawmi Attabi`ū Al-Mursalīna | 036-020* A man came hurrying up from the further end of the city. he said: "O my people, follow the emissaries! | وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Attabi`ū Man Lā Yas'alukum 'Ajrāan Wa Hum Muhtadūna | 036-021* Follow someone who does not ask for any payment while they are being guided." PART TWENTY-THREE (II cont'd) | اتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لاَ يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرا ً وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ |
| Wa Mā Liya Lā 'A`budu Al-Ladhī Faţaranī Wa 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna | 036-022* Why should I worship the One Who fashioned me and to Whom you will (all) return? | وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
| 'A'attakhidhu Min Dūnihi 'Ālihatan 'In Yuridni Ar-Raĥmānu Biđurrin Lā Tughni `Annī Shafā`atuhum Shay'āan Wa Lā Yunqidhūni | 036-023* Should I adopt other gods instead of Him? If the Mercy-giving should want any harm [to happen] to me, their intercession would never help me out in any way nor would they rescue me: | أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَة ً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَنُ بِضُرٍّ لاَ تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئا ً وَلاَ يُنقِذُونِ |
| 'Innī 'Idhāan Lafī Đalālin Mubīnin | 036-024* I'd then be completely lost! | إِنِّي إِذا ً لَفِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِين ٍ |
| 'Innī 'Āmantu Birabbikum Fāsma`ūni | 036-025* I believe in your Lord, so hear me!" | إِنِّي آمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ |
| Qīla Adkhuli Al-Jannata ۖ Qāla Yā Layta Qawmī Ya`lamūna | 036-026* He was told: "Enter the Garden." He said: "If my people only knew | قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَالَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Bimā Ghafara Lī Rabbī Wa Ja`alanī Mina Al-Mukramīna | 036-027* how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored ones!" | بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ |
| Wa Mā 'Anzalnā `Alá Qawmihi Min Ba`dihi Min Jundin Mina As-Samā'i Wa Mā Kunnā Munzilīna | 036-028* We did not send any army down from Heaven to his folk after him, nor do We ever send any down. | وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى قَوْمِه ِِ مِنْ بَعْدِه ِِ مِنْ جُندٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ |
| 'In Kānat 'Illā Şayĥatan Wāĥidatan Fa'idhā Hum Khāmidūna | 036-029* There was only a single Blast, and imagine, they [lay] shrivelled up! | إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلاَّ صَيْحَة ً وَاحِدَة ً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ |
| Yā Ĥasratan `Alá Al-`Ibādi ۚ Mā Ya'tīhim Min Rasūlin 'Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ūn | 036-030* What a pity it is with such worshippers! No messenger has ever come to them unless they made fun of him. | يَاحَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ مَا ۚ يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِه ِِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون |
| 'Alam Yaraw Kam 'Ahlaknā Qablahum Mina Al-Qurūni 'Annahum 'Ilayhim Lā Yarji`ūna | 036-031* Have they not seen how many generations We have wiped out before them who will never return to them? | أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Wa 'In Kullun Lammā Jamī`un Ladaynā Muĥđarūna | 036-032* Each will be arraigned so they all stand before Us. God's Signs (III) | وَإِنْ كُلّ ٌ لَمَّا جَمِيع ٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ |
| Wa 'Āyatun Lahumu Al-'Arđu Al-Maytatu 'Aĥyaynāhā Wa 'Akhrajnā Minhā Ĥabbāan Faminhu Ya'kulūna | 036-033* The dead earth serves as a sign for them; We reveve it and bring forth grain from it which they may eat. | وَآيَة ٌ لَهُمُ الأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبّا ً فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ |
| Wa Ja`alnā Fīhā Jannātin Min Nakhīlin Wa 'A`nābin Wa Fajjarnā Fīhā Mina Al-`Uyūni | 036-034* We have placed date groves and vineyards on it, and make springs flow forth from it | وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِنْ نَخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ |
| Liya'kulū Min Thamarihi Wa Mā `Amilat/hu 'Aydīhim ۖ 'Afalā Yashkurūna | 036-035* so they may eat its fruit. Their own hands did not produce it. So, will they not give thanks? | لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِه ِِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلاَ يَشْكُرُونَ |
| Subĥāna Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Al-'Azwāja Kullahā Mimmā Tunbitu Al-'Arđu Wa Min 'Anfusihim Wa Mimmā Lā Ya`lamūna | 036-036* Glory be to the One Who has created every kind of species such as the earth grows, their own kind, and even some things they do not know! | سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Wa 'Āyatun Lahumu Al-Laylu Naslakhu Minhu An-Nahāra Fa'idhā Hum Mužlimūna | 036-037* Another sign for them is night; We strip daylight off from it so they are pluged into darkness! | وَآيَة ٌ لَهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُمْ مُظْلِمُونَ |
| Wa Ash-Shamsu Tajrī Limustaqarrin Lahā ۚ Dhālika Taqdīru Al-`Azīzi Al-`Alīmi | 036-038* The sun runs along on a course of its own. Such is the designof the Powerful, the Aware! | وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ۚ ذَلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ |
| Wa Al-Qamara Qaddarnāhu Manāzila Ĥattá `Āda Kāl`urjūni Al-Qadīmi | 036-039* And We have designed phases for the moon so it finally appears again like an old palm frond. | وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاه ُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّى عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ |
| Lā Ash-Shamsu Yanbaghī Lahā 'An Tudrika Al-Qamara Wa Lā Al-Laylu Sābiqu An-Nahāri ۚ Wa Kullun Fī Falakin Yasbaĥūna | 036-040* The sun dare not overtake the moon nor does night outpace the day. Each floats along in its own orbit. | لاَ الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلاَ اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ |
| Wa 'Āyatun Lahum 'Annā Ĥamalnā Dhurrīyatahum Fī Al-Fulki Al-Mashĥūni | 036-041* Another for them is how We transported their offspring on the laden ship. | وَآيَة ٌ لَهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ |
| Wa Khalaqnā Lahum Min Mithlihi Mā Yarkabūna | 036-042* We fave created something like it for them on which they must sail. | وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مِثْلِه ِِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ |
| Wa 'In Nasha' Nughriqhum Falā Şarīkha Lahum Wa Lā Hum Yunqadhūna | 036-043* If We wished, We might even let them drown and they would have no one tho cry out to, nor would they be rescued | وَإِنْ نَشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلاَ صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ |
| 'Illā Raĥmatan Minnā Wa Matā`āan 'Ilá Ĥīnin | 036-044* except as a mercy from Us and to enjoy things for a wile. | إِلاَّ رَحْمَة ً مِنَّا وَمَتَاعا ً إِلَى حِين ٍ |
| Wa 'Idhā Qīla Lahumu Attaqū Mā Bayna 'Aydīkum Wa Mā Khalfakum La`allakum Turĥamūna | 036-045* When they are told: "Heed what lies in front of you and what's behind you so that you may find mercy," | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ |
| Wa Mā Ta'tīhim Min 'Āyatin Min 'Āyāti Rabbihim 'Illā Kānū `Anhā Mu`riđīna | 036-046* not ont of their Lord's signs has come to them except they tried to avoid it. | وَمَا تَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلاَّ كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Qīla Lahum 'Anfiqū Mimmā Razaqakumu Al-Lahu Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lilladhīna 'Āmanū 'Anuţ`imu Man Law Yashā'u Al-Lahu 'Aţ`amahu 'In 'Antum 'Illā Fī Đalālin Mubīnin | 036-047* When they are (also) told: "Spend something God has provided you with," the ones who disbelieve tell those who believe: "Should we feed someone whom God would feed if He so wishes? You are quite obviously in error!" The Last Trumpet | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَنْ لَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ~ُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلاَّ فِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِين ٍ |
| Wa Yaqūlūna Matá Hādhā Al-Wa`du 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna | 036-048*They say: "When will this promise occur if you are so truthful?" | وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |
| Mā Yanžurūna 'Illā Şayĥatan Wāĥidatan Ta'khudhuhum Wa Hum Yakhişşimūna | 036-049* They need only wait for a single Blast to catch them while they are arguing away. | مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ صَيْحَة ً وَاحِدَة ً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ |
| Falā Yastaţī`ūna Tawşiyatan Wa Lā 'Ilá 'Ahlihim Yarji`ūna | 036-050* They will not even manage to draw up a will, nor will they return to their own people. (IV) | فَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَة ً وَلاَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Wa Nufikha Fī Aş-Şūri Fa'idhā Hum Mina Al-'Ajdāthi 'Ilá Rabbihim Yansilūna | 036-051* The Trumpet will be blow and then they will swarm forth from their tombs to meet their Lord. | وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ |
| Qālū Yā Waylanā Man Ba`athanā Min Marqadinā ۜ ۗ Hādhā Mā Wa`ada Ar-Raĥmānu Wa Şadaqa Al-Mursalūna | 036-052* They will say: "It's too bad for us! Whoefer has raised us up from our sleeping quarters? This is what the Mercy-giving promised; the emissaries have been telling the truth." Paradise | قَالُوا يَاوَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَا هَذَا ۜ ۗ مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ |
| 'In Kānat 'Illā Şayĥatan Wāĥidatan Fa'idhā Hum Jamī`un Ladaynā Muĥđarūna | 036-053* There will be only a single Blast and then they will all be assembled in Our presence. | إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلاَّ صَيْحَة ً وَاحِدَة ً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيع ٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ |
| Fālyawma Lā Tužlamu Nafsun Shay'āan Wa Lā Tujzawna 'Illā Mā Kuntum Ta`malūna | 036-054* On that day no soul will be harmed in any way, and you will be rewarded only for what you have been doing. | فَالْيَوْمَ لاَ تُظْلَمُ نَفْس ٌ شَيْئا ً وَلاَ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| 'Inna 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati Al-Yawma Fī Shughulin Fākihūna | 036-055* The inhabitnts of the Garden will be happily at work of that day. | إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُل ٍ فَاكِهُونَ |
| Hum Wa 'Azwājuhum Fī Žilālin `Alá Al-'Arā'iki Muttaki'ūna | 036-056* They and thier spouses will relax on couches in shady nooks; | هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلاَلٍ عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ |
| Lahum Fīhā Fākihatun Wa Lahum Mā Yadda`ūna | 036-057* they will have fruit and they shall have anything they request. | لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُمْ مَا يَدَّعُونَ |
| Salāmun Qawlāan Min Rabbin Raĥīmin | 036-058* "Peace!" will be a greeting from a Merciful Lord. Satan a Hindrance | سَلاَم ٌ قَوْلا ً مِنْ رَبّ ٍ رَحِيم ٍ |
| Wa Amtāzū Al-Yawma 'Ayyuhā Al-Mujrimūna | 036-059* "Step aside today, you criminals! | وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ |
| 'Alam 'A`had 'Ilaykum Yā Banī 'Ādama 'An Lā Ta`budū Ash-Shayţāna ۖ 'Innahu Lakum `Adūwun Mubīnun | 036-060* Did I not contract you, O children of Adam, not to serve Satan? He is an open enemy of yours. | أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَابَنِي آدَمَ أَنْ لاَ تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ إِنَّه ُ ۖ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ |
| Wa 'Ani A`budūnī ۚ Hādhā Şirāţun Mustaqīmun | 036-061* And to worship Me [Alone]! This is a Straight Road. | وَأَنِ اعْبُدُونِي ۚ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ |
| Wa Laqad 'Ađalla Minkum Jibillāan Kathīrāan ۖ 'Afalam Takūnū Ta`qilūna | 036-062* He has led a numerous mob of you astray. Havent you been reasoning things out? | وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنْكُمْ جِبِلّا ً كَثِيرا ً ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ |
| Hadhihi Jahannamu Allatī Kuntum Tū`adūna | 036-063* This is Hell, which you were threatened with. | هَذِه ِِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ |
| Aşlawhā Al-Yawma Bimā Kuntum Takfurūna | 036-064* Roast in it today because you have disbelieved!" | اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ |
| Al-Yawma Nakhtimu `Alá 'Afwāhihim Wa Tukallimunā 'Aydīhim Wa Tash/hadu 'Arjuluhum Bimā Kānū Yaksibūna | 036-065* That day We shall seal their mouths up whil their hands will speak to Us and their feet bear witness about what they have been earning. | الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
| Wa Law Nashā'u Laţamasnā `Alá 'A`yunihim Fāstabaqū Aş-Şirāţa Fa'anná Yubşirūna | 036-066* If We so wished, We would put their eyes out so they must grope along the Road. Yet how will they ever norice [anything]? | وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَى أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّى يُبْصِرُونَ |
| Wa Law Nashā'u Lamasakhnāhum `Alá Makānatihim Famā Astaţā`ū Muđīyāan Wa Lā Yarji`ūna | 036-067* If We wished, We would nail them to the spot so they would not manage to keep on going nor would they ever return. (V) | وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيّا ً وَلاَ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Wa Man Nu`ammirhu Nunakkis/hu Fī Al-Khalqi ۖ 'Afalā Ya`qilūna | 036-068* Anyone We grant long life to, We switch around within creation. Will theynot use their reason? Muhammad no Poet | وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلاَ يَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa Mā `Allamnāhu Ash-Shi`ra Wa Mā Yanbaghī Lahu ۚ 'In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Wa Qur'ānun Mubīnun | 036-069*We have not taught him any poetry nor would it be fitting for him. It is merely a Reminder and a clear Reading | وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ~ُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُبِينٌ |
| Liyundhira Man Kāna Ĥayyāan Wa Yaĥiqqa Al-Qawlu `Alá Al-Kāfirīna | 036-070* so he may warn anyone who is alive and the Sentence may be confirmed against disbelievers. | لِيُنْذِرَ مَنْ كَانَ حَيّا ً وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ |
| 'Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Khalaqnā Lahum Mimmā `Amilat 'Aydīnā 'An`āmāan Fahum Lahā Mālikūna | 036-071* Have they not considered how We have created livestock for them out of what Our own hands have made, and they are masters over them? | أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَاما ً فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ |
| Wa Dhallalnāhā Lahum Faminhā Rakūbuhum Wa Minhā Ya'kulūna | 036-072* We let them tame them: some of them are to be ridden, while others they eat; | وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ |
| Wa Lahum Fīhā Manāfi`u Wa Mashāribu ۖ 'Afalā Yashkurūna | 036-073* they recieve benefits and drinks from them. Will they not act grateful? | وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلاَ يَشْكُرُونَ |
| Wa Attakhadhū Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Ālihatan La`allahum Yunşarūna | 036-074* Yet they have adopted [other] gods instead of God [Alone, so that they may be supported. | وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَة ً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ |
| Lā Yastaţī`ūna Naşrahum Wa Hum Lahum Jundun Muĥđarūna | 036-075* They still cannot achieve their support; yet they stand up for them like an army in thier prescence! | لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُحْضَرُونَ |
| Falā Yaĥzunka Qawluhum ۘ 'Innā Na`lamu Mā Yusirrūna Wa Mā Yu`linūna | 036-076* Do not let their statemant sadden you; We know what they are keeping secret and what they are disclosing. | فَلاَ يَحْزُنْكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yara Al-'Insānu 'Annā Khalaqnāhu Min Nuţfatin Fa'idhā Huwa Khaşīmun Mubīnun | 036-077* Has not man considered how We created him from a drop of semen? Yet he is an open adversary! | أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الإِنسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاه ُ مِنْ نُطْفَة ٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُبِين ٌ |
| Wa Đaraba Lanā Mathalāan Wa Nasiya Khalqahu ۖ Qāla Man Yuĥyī Al-`Ižāma Wa Hiya Ramīmun | 036-078* He makes something up to be compared with Us and forgets how he was created. He even says: "Who will revive [our] bones once they have rotted away?" | وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلا ً وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَه ُ ۖ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ |
| Qul Yuĥyīhā Al-Ladhī 'Ansha'ahā 'Awwala Marratin ۖ Wa Huwa Bikulli Khalqin `Alīmun | 036-079*SAY: "The One Who raised them up in the first place will revive them. He is Awware of all creation, | قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ |
| Al-Ladhī Ja`ala Lakum Mina Ash-Shajari Al-'Akhđari Nārāan Fa'idhā 'Antum Minhu Tūqidūna | 036-080* the One Who grants you fire from green trees. Notice how you kindle a fire for them. | الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ الأَخْضَرِ نَارا ً فَإِذَا أَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ |
| 'Awalaysa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Biqādirin `Alá 'An Yakhluqa Mithlahum ۚ Balá Wa Huwa Al-Khallāqu Al-`Alīmu | 036-081* Is not Whoever created Heaven and Earth Able to create the same as them?" Of course [He is]! He is the Creator, the Aware. | أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ ۚ بَلَى وَهُوَ الْخَلاَّقُ الْعَلِيمُ |
| 'Innamā 'Amruhu 'Idhā 'Arāda Shay'āan 'An Yaqūla Lahu Kun Fayakūnu | 036-082* Once He wishes anything, His command only needs to tell it: "Be"; and it is! | إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ~ُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئا ً أَنْ يَقُولَ لَه ُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ |
| Fasubĥāna Al-Ladhī Biyadihi Malakūtu Kulli Shay'in Wa 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna | 036-083* Glory be to Him Whose hand holds sovereignty over everything! To Him will you return. | فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِه ِِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
