| THIS CHAPTER was revealed after Splitting Open 84 and before the previous chapter on The Spider 29. It consists of six sections with 60 verses in all; 59 are Meccan, while one, v. 17, dates from Madina. The term Ar-Rum refers to Europe in its imperialistic phase, even recently in North Africa. A clear consciousness of history is displayed here, as it was in the previous chapter; the references is to the current wars then being waged between the Byzantine or Eastern Roman Empire and the Persian Empire in the days of the Prophet. The chapter also has some lyric passages on the glory of God (II) and His signs (III). Marriage is discussed, and also differences in speech and race. | Fī 'Adná Al-'Arđi Wa Hum Min Ba`di Ghalabihim Sayaghlibūna | 030-003* on the nearest front! Following their defeat they shall conquer | فِي أَدْنَى الأَرْضِ وَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ |
| Fī Biđ`i Sinīna ۗ Lillahi Al-'Amru Min Qablu Wa Min Ba`du ۚ Wa Yawma'idhin Yafraĥu Al-Mu'uminūna | 030-004* a few years later. With God lies command, both before and later on. On that day believers will be glad | فِي بِضْعِ سِنِينَ ۗ لِلَّهِ الأَمْرُ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَمِنْ بَعْدُ ۚ وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Binaşri Al-Lahi ۚ Yanşuru Man Yashā'u ۖ Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Ar-Raĥīmu | 030-005* of God's support. He supports anyone he wishes, and is the Powerful, the Merciful. | بِنَصْرِ اللَّهِ ۚ يَنصُرُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ |
| Wa`da Al-Lahi ۖ Lā Yukhlifu Al-Lahu Wa`dahu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna | 030-006*[Such is] God's promise; God does not break His promise even though most men do not realize it. | وَعْدَ اللَّهِ ۖ لاَ يُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ وَعْدَه ُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Ya`lamūna Žāhirāan Mina Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Hum `Ani Al-'Ākhirati Hum Ghāfilūna | 030-007* They recognize he outer show of worldly life, while they are heedless about the Hereafter. Philosophy of History | يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرا ً مِنَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ الآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yatafakkarū Fī 'Anfusihim ۗ Mā Khalaqa Al-Lahu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā 'Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Ajalin Musammáan ۗ Wa 'Inna Kathīrāan Mina An-Nāsi Biliqā'i Rabbihim Lakāfirūna | 030-008* Have they not reflected about themselves? God has only created Heaven and Earth and whatever lies in between them for the Truth and till a specific deadline. Yet many men disbelieve about meeting their Lord. | أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ ۗ مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُسَمّى ً ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرا ً مِنَ النَّاسِ بِلِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ لَكَافِرُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yasīrū Fī Al-'Arđi Fayanžurū Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim ۚ Kānū 'Ashadda Minhum Qūwatan Wa 'Athārū Al-'Arđa Wa `Amarūhā 'Akthara Mimmā `Amarūhā Wa Jā'at/hum Rusuluhum Bil-Bayyināti ۖ Famā Kāna Al-Lahu Liyažlimahum Wa Lakin Kānū 'Anfusahum Yažlimūna | 030-009* Have they not travelled around the earth and seen what the outcome was for those who existed before them? They were even stronger than they are: they cultivated the earth and developed it more than they have ever developed it. Their messengers brought them explanations; it was not God who wronged them, but they wronged themselves. | أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَانُوا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّة ً وَأَثَارُوا الأَرْضَ وَعَمَرُوهَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا عَمَرُوهَا وَجَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَكِنْ كَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Thumma Kāna `Āqibata Al-Ladhīna 'Asā'ū As-Sū'á 'An Kadhdhabū Bi'āyāti Al-Lahi Wa Kānū Bihā Yastahzi'ūn | 030-010* Then how evil was the outcome for those who practised evil, simply because they denied God's signs and kept on making fun of them! The Hour (II) | ثُمَّ كَانَ عَاقِبَةَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا السُّوءَى أَنْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَكَانُوا بِهَا يَسْتَهْزِئُون |
| Al-Lahu Yabda'u Al-Khalqa Thumma Yu`īduhu Thumma 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna | 030-011* God begins with creation, then He performs it all over again; then to Him will you return. | اللَّهُ يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُه ُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
| Wa Yawma Taqūmu As-Sā`atu Yublisu Al-Mujrimūna | 030-012* Some day when the Hour has been established, criminals will feel stunned. | وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يُبْلِسُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ |
| Wa Lam Yakun Lahum Min Shurakā'ihim Shufa`ā'u Wa Kānū Bishurakā'ihim Kāfirīna | 030-013* They will have no intercessors from among their own associates; they will even deny they were their associates! | وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ مِنْ شُرَكَائِهِمْ شُفَعَاءُ وَكَانُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ كَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Yawma Taqūmu As-Sā`atu Yawma'idhin Yatafarraqūna | 030-014* Some day when the Hour has been established, on that day they will be dipersed. | وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَفَرَّقُونَ |
| Fa'ammā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Fahum Fī Rawđatin Yuĥbarūna | 030-015* Those who believe and have performed honorable deeds will rejoice in a park, | فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَهُمْ فِي رَوْضَةٍ يُحْبَرُونَ |
| Wa 'Ammā Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Wa Liqā'i Al-'Ākhirati Fa'ūlā'ika Fī Al-`Adhābi Muĥđarūna | 030-016* while those who disbelieve and reject both Our signs and meeting in the Hereafter will be presented with torment. Glory to God | وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاءِ الآخِرَةِ فَأُوْلَائِكَ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُونَ |
| Fasubĥāna Al-Lahi Ĥīna Tumsūna Wa Ĥīna Tuşbiĥūna | 030-017* Glory be to God when you reach evening and when you arise in the morning! | فَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ |
| Wa Lahu Al-Ĥamdu Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa `Ashīyāan Wa Ĥīna Tužhirūna | 030-018* Praise belongs to Him throughout Heaven and Earth,] and after supper and when you are at your noonhour. | وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَعَشِيّا ً وَحِينَ تُظْهِرُونَ |
| Yukhriju Al-Ĥayya Mina Al-Mayyiti Wa Yukhriju Al-Mayyita Mina Al-Ĥayyi Wa Yuĥyī Al-'Arđa Ba`da Mawtihā ۚ Wa Kadhalika Tukhrajūna | 030-019* He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and He revives the earth following its death. Thus shall you (all) be brought forth [again]. God's Signs (III) | يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَيُحْيِي الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ وَكَذَلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi 'An Khalaqakum Min Turābin Thumma 'Idhā 'Antum Basharun Tantashirūna | 030-020* Among His signs is [the fact] that he has created you from dust; then you were propagated as human beings. Marriage | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ تُرَاب ٍ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ بَشَر ٌ تَنتَشِرُونَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi 'An Khalaqa Lakum Min 'Anfusikum 'Azwājāan Litaskunū 'Ilayhā Wa Ja`ala Baynakum Mawaddatan Wa Raĥmatan ۚ 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yatafakkarūna | 030-021* Among His signs is [the fact] that He has created spouses for you from among yourselves so that you may console yourselves with them. He has planted affection and mercy between you; in that are signs for people who think things over. Differences in Speech and Race | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجا ً لِتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَوَدَّة ً وَرَحْمَة ً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi Khalqu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Akhtilāfu 'Alsinatikum Wa 'Alwānikum ۚ 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Lil`ālimīna | 030-022* Among His signs are the creation of Heaven and Earth, as well as the diversity in your tongues and colors. In that are signs for those who know. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِه ِِ خَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلاَفُ أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَأَلْوَانِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْعَالِمِينَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi Manāmukum Bil-Layli Wa An-Nahāri Wa Abtighā'uukum Min Fađlihi ۚ 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yasma`ūna | 030-023* Among His signs are your sleeping at night and by day, and your pursuit of His bounty. In that are signs for any folk who listen. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِه ِِ مَنَامُكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَاؤُكُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi Yurīkumu Al-Barqa Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan Wa Yunazzilu Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fayuĥyī Bihi Al-'Arđa Ba`da Mawtihā ۚ 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Ya`qilūna | 030-024* Among His signsis how He shows you lightning for both fear and anticipation. He sends water down from the sky so He may revive the earth with it following its death. In that are signs for folk who use their reason. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِه ِِ يُرِيكُمُ الْبَرْقَ خَوْفا ً وَطَمَعا ً وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاء ً فَيُحْيِي بِهِ الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi 'An Taqūma As-Samā'u Wa Al-'Arđu Bi'amrihi ۚ Thumma 'Idhā Da`ākum Da`watan Mina Al-'Arđi 'Idhā 'Antum Takhrujūna | 030-025* Among His signs are [the fact] that the sky and earth hold firm at His command. Then whenever He calls you forth out of the earth once and for all, you will (all) come forth! | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّمَاءُ وَالأَرْضُ بِأَمْرِه ِِ ۚ ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَة ً مِنَ الأَرْضِ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ |
| Wa Lahu Man Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi ۖ Kullun Lahu Qānitūna | 030-026* Anyone who is in Heaven and Earth belongs to Him; all are susservient to Him. | وَلَه ُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ۖ كُلّ ٌ لَه ُ قَانِتُونَ |
| Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Yabda'u Al-Khalqa Thumma Yu`īduhu Wa Huwa 'Ahwanu `Alayhi ۚ Wa Lahu Al-Mathalu Al-'A`lá Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi ۚ Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | 030-027* He is the One Who starts out with creation; then He performs it all over again. It is quite simple for Him [to do]. He sets the Supreme Example in Heaven and Earth; He is the Powerful, the Wise! Sharing Control (IV) | وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُه ُ وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ ۚ وَلَهُ الْمَثَلُ الأَعْلَى فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
| Đaraba Lakum Mathalāan Min 'Anfusikum ۖ Hal Lakum Min Mā Malakat 'Aymānukum Min Shurakā'a Fī Mā Razaqnākum Fa'antum Fīhi Sawā'un Takhāfūnahum Kakhīfatikum 'Anfusakum ۚ Kadhālika Nufaşşilu Al-'Āyāti Liqawmin Ya`qilūna | 030-028* He offers you an example frm among yourselves. Do you have any partners for what We have provided you with among those whom your right hand controls? Do you [feel] the same in such a case so that you fear [these servants] just as you fear one another? Thus We spell out signs for folk who will use their reason. | ضَرَبَ لَكُمْ مَثَلا ً مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ ۖ هَلْ لَكُمْ مِنْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ مِنْ شُرَكَاءَ فِي مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ فَأَنْتُمْ فِيه ِِ سَوَاءٌ تَخَافُونَهُمْ كَخِيفَتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ |
| Bal Attaba`a Al-Ladhīna Žalamū 'Ahwā'ahum Bighayri `Ilmin ۖ Faman Yahdī Man 'Ađalla Al-Lahu ۖ Wa Mā Lahum Min Nāşirīna | 030-029* Rather the ones who do wrong follow their own whims without having any knowledge. Who will guide someone whom God has let go astray? They will have no supporters. Correct Religion | بَلْ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۖ فَمَنْ يَهْدِي مَنْ أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِنْ نَاصِرِينَ |
| Fa'aqim Wajhaka Lilddīni Ĥanīfāan Fiţrata ۚ Al-Lahi Allatī Faţara An-Nāsa `Alayhā Lā ۚ Tabdīla Likhalqi Al-Lahi Dhālika ۚ Ad-Dīnu Al-Qayyimu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna | 030-030* So keep your face set enquiringly towards the [true] religion, God's natural handiwork along which lines He has patterned mankind. There is no way to alter God's creation. That is the correct religion, though most men do not realize it | فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفا ً ۚ فِطْرَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا ۚ لاَ تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Munībīna 'Ilayhi Wa Attaqūhu Wa 'Aqīmū Aş-Şalāata Wa Lā Takūnū Mina Al-Mushrikīna | 030-031* even as they turn towards Him. Heed Him and keep up prayer, and do not be one of those who associate [others with Him], | مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ وَاتَّقُوه ُ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَلاَ تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ |
| Mina Al-Ladhīna Farraqū Dīnahum Wa Kānū Shiya`āan ۖ Kullu Ĥizbin Bimā Ladayhim Fariĥūna | 030-032* such as the ones who split up their religion and form sects. Each party is happy with whatever lies before them. | مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعا ً ۖ كُلُّ حِزْب ٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Massa An-Nāsa Đurrun Da`aw Rabbahum Munībīna 'Ilayhi Thumma 'Idhā 'Adhāqahum Minhu Raĥmatan 'Idhā Farīqun Minhum Birabbihim Yushrikūna | 030-033* Whenever some trouble afflicts mankind, they appeal to their Lord, turning towards Him; then when He lets them taste some mercy from Himself, a group of them will associate others with their Lord, | وَإِذَا مَسَّ النَّاسَ ضُرّ ٌ دَعَوْا رَبَّهُمْ مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَذَاقَهُمْ مِنْهُ رَحْمَة ً إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمْ بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ |
| Liyakfurū Bimā 'Ātaynāhum ۚ Fatamatta`ū Fasawfa Ta`lamūna | 030-034* so as to disbelieve in whatever We have given them. So enjoy yourselves, for you shall know! | لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Am 'Anzalnā `Alayhim Sulţānāan Fahuwa Yatakallamu Bimā Kānū Bihi Yushrikūna | 030-035* Or have We sent down some authority to them which speaks t them about what they are associating with Him? | أَمْ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانا ً فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِمَا كَانُوا بِه ِِ يُشْرِكُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā 'Adhaqnā An-Nāsa Raĥmatan Fariĥū Bihā ۖ Wa 'In Tuşibhum Sayyi'atun Bimā Qaddamat 'Aydīhim 'Idhā Hum Yaqnaţūna | 030-036* Whenever We let mankind taste mercy, they are glad about it; yet if any evil should strike them because of what their hands have sent ahead, then they feel despondent. | وَإِذَا أَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَة ً فَرِحُوا بِهَا ۖ وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَقْنَطُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yaraw 'Anna Al-Laha Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Wa Yaqdiru ۚ 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | 030-037* Have they not seen how God extends sustenance to anyone He wishes, and budgets it? There are signs in that for folk who believe. | أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Fa'āti Dhā Al-Qurbá Ĥaqqahu Wa Al-Miskīna Wa Abna As-Sabīli ۚ Dhālika Khayrun Lilladhīna Yurīdūna Wajha Al-Lahi Wa 'Ūlā'ika ۖ Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | 030-038* So give the near relative his due, and the needy and the wayfarer; that will be best for the ones who want [to see] God's face. Those will be prosperous. | فَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّه ُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ ۚ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
| Wa Mā 'Ātaytum Min Ribāan Liyarbuwā Fī 'Amwāli An-Nāsi Falā Yarbū `Inda Al-Lahi ۖ Wa Mā 'Ātaytum Min Zakāatin Turīdūna Wajha Al-Lahi Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-Muđ`ifūna | 030-039* Any usury you farm out so it will be increased from (other) people's wealth will never increase so far as God is concerned; while those of you who pay something as welfare tax while you seek God's face, will have it multiplied. | وَمَا آتَيْتُمْ مِنْ رِبا ً لِيَرْبُوَا فِي أَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ فَلاَ يَرْبُوا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا آتَيْتُمْ مِنْ زَكَاةٍ تُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ فَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُضْعِفُونَ |
| Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Thumma Razaqakum Thumma Yumītukum Thumma Yuĥyīkum ۖ Hal Min Shurakā'ikum Man Yaf`alu Min Dhālikum Min Shay'in ۚ Subĥānahu Wa Ta`ālá `Ammā Yushrikūna | 030-040* God is the One Who has created you, then provided for you; next He will cause you to die, then revive you. Are there any of your associates who can perform anything like that? Glory be to Him; Exalted is He over anything they may associate [with Him]! (V) | اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ هَلْ مِنْ شُرَكَائِكُمْ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۚ سُبْحَانَه ُ وَتَعَالَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ |
| Žahara Al-Fasādu Fī Al-Barri Wa Al-Baĥri Bimā Kasabat 'Aydī An-Nāsi Liyudhīqahum Ba`đa Al-Ladhī `Amilū La`allahum Yarji`ūna | 030-041* Pollution has appeared on land and at sea because of what man's hands have accomplished, so he may let them taste something of what they have earned, in order that they will turn back [in repentance]. | ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ |
| Qul Sīrū Fī Al-'Arđi Fānžurū Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Ladhīna Min Qablu ۚ Kāna 'Aktharuhum Mushrikīna | 030-042* SAY: "Travel around the earth and see what the outcome was for those who [lived] before. Most of them were associators [of others in their worship of God]." | قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۚ كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُشْرِكِينَ |
| Fa'aqim Wajhaka Lilddīni Al-Qayyimi Min Qabli 'An Ya'tiya Yawmun Lā Maradda Lahu Mina Al-Lahi Yawma'idhin ۖ Yaşşadda`ūna | 030-043* Keep your face set toward the established religion before a day comes from God which cannot be fended off. On that day they will be dispersed! | فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ الْقَيِّمِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْم ٌ لاَ مَرَدَّ لَه ُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۖ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعُونَ |
| Man Kafara Fa`alayhi Kufruhu ۖ Wa Man `Amila Şāliĥāan Fali'anfusihim Yamhadūna | 030-044* Anyone who disbelieves must assume [responsibility for] his disbelief, while whoever acts honorably will have things adjusted for themselves, | مَنْ كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُه ُ ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحا ً فَلِأَنفُسِهِمْ يَمْهَدُونَ |
| Liyajziya Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Min Fađlihi ۚ 'Innahu Lā Yuĥibbu Al-Kāfirīna | 030-045* so He may reward the ones who have believed and performed honorable deeds out of His bounty. He does not love disbelievers. | لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Min 'Āyātihi 'An Yursila Ar-Riyāĥa Mubashshirātin Wa Liyudhīqakum Min Raĥmatihi Wa Litajriya Al-Fulku Bi'amrihi Wa Litabtaghū Min Fađlihi Wa La`allakum Tashkurūna | 030-046* Among His signs is [the fact] that He sends the winds to bring news so he may let you taste some of His mercy, and so ships may sail at His command, in order that you may seek some of His bounty and so that you may act grateful. | وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ الرِّيَاحَ مُبَشِّرَاتٍ وَلِيُذِيقَكُمْ مِنْ رَحْمَتِه ِِ وَلِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ بِأَمْرِه ِِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِه ِِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ |
| Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Min Qablika Rusulāan 'Ilá Qawmihim Fajā'ūhum Bil-Bayyināti Fāntaqamnā Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Ajramū ۖ Wa Kāna Ĥaqqāan `Alaynā Naşru Al-Mu'uminīna | 030-047* We have sent messengers to their folk before you; they brought them explanations and We were avenged on those who had committed any crimes. It is right for us to support believers! | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ رُسُلا ً إِلَى قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَاءُوهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا ۖ وَكَانَ حَقّا ً عَلَيْنَا نَصْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Yursilu Ar-Riyāĥa Fatuthīru Saĥābāan Fayabsuţuhu Fī As-Samā'i Kayfa Yashā'u Wa Yaj`aluhu Kisafāan Fatará Al-Wadqa Yakhruju Min Khilālihi ۖ Fa'idhā 'Aşāba Bihi Man Yashā'u Min `Ibādihi 'Idhā Hum Yastabshirūna | 030-048* God is the One Who sends the winds to blow the clouds along. He spreads them out in the sky just as he wishes, and breaks them up into patches so you see a shower coming from inside them. When He strikes any of His servants whom He wishes with it, they are overjoyed, | اللَّهُ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابا ً فَيَبْسُطُه ُ فِي السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ وَيَجْعَلُه ُ كِسَفا ً فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلاَلِه ِِ ۖ فَإِذَا أَصَابَ بِه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ |
| Wa 'In Kānū Min Qabli 'An Yunazzala `Alayhim Min Qablihi Lamublisīna | 030-049* even if before it fell on them, they had felt disheartened. | وَإِنْ كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ قَبْلِه ِِ لَمُبْلِسِينَ |
| Fānžur 'Ilá 'Āthāri Raĥmati Al-Lahi Kayfa Yuĥyī Al-'Arđa Ba`da Mawtihā ۚ 'Inna Dhālika Lamuĥyī Al-Mawtá ۖ Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun | 030-050* Look at the traces of God's mercy, how he revives the earth following its death. Such is the Reviver from the dead; He is capable of everything! | فَانظُرْ إِلَى آثَارِ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ يُحْيِي الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |
| Wa La'in 'Arsalnā Rīĥāan Fara'awhu Muşfarrāan Lažallū Min Ba`dihi Yakfurūna | 030-051* Even if We sent a wind so they might see it turning things yellow, they would still keep on disbelieving even after it. | وَلَئِنْ أَرْسَلْنَا رِيحا ً فَرَأَوْهُ مُصْفَرّا ً لَظَلُّوا مِنْ بَعْدِه ِِ يَكْفُرُونَ |
| Fa'innaka Lā Tusmi`u Al-Mawtá Wa Lā Tusmi`u Aş-Şumma Ad-Du`ā'a 'Idhā Wa Llaw Mudbirīna | 030-052* You cannot make the dead hear, nor even make the deaf hear the Appeal once they have turned their backs on it. | فَإِنَّكَ لاَ تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَى وَلاَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِينَ |
| Wa Mā 'Anta Bihādī Al-`Umyi `An Đalālatihim ۖ 'In Tusmi`u 'Illā Man Yu'uminu Bi'āyātinā Fahum Muslimūn | 030-053* You are no one to guide the blind out of their error: only someone who believes in Our signs will listen; since they are committed to (live in) peace. The Final Hour (VI) | وَمَا أَنْتَ بِهَادِي الْعُمْيِ عَنْ ضَلاَلَتِهِمْ ۖ إِنْ تُسْمِعُ إِلاَّ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا فَهُمْ مُسْلِمُون |
| Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Min Đa`fin Thumma Ja`ala Min Ba`di Đa`fin Qūwatan Thumma Ja`ala Min Ba`di Qūwatin Đa`fāan Wa Shaybatan ۚ Yakhluqu Mā Yashā'u ۖ Wa Huwa Al-`Alīmu Al-Qadīru | 030-054* God is the One Who has created you out of weakness; then He has granted strength following [your] weakness; later on He has granted weakness and grey hairs in place of strength. He creates whatever He wishes; He is the Aware, the Capable. | اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ضَعْفٍ قُوَّة ً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعْفا ً وَشَيْبَة ً ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْقَدِيرُ |
| Wa Yawma Taqūmu As-Sā`atu Yuqsimu Al-Mujrimūna Mā Labithū Ghayra Sā`atin ۚ Kadhālika Kānū Yu'ufakūna | 030-055* Some day the Hour will be established when criminals will swear they have been hanging around for only an hour. Thus they have (always) shrugged things off! | وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يُقْسِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ مَا لَبِثُوا غَيْرَ سَاعَةٍ ۚ كَذَلِكَ كَانُوا يُؤْفَكُونَ |
| Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Wa Al-'Īmāna Laqad Labithtum Fī Kitābi Al-Lahi 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Ba`thi ۖ Fahadhā Yawmu Al-Ba`thi Wa Lakinnakum Kuntum Lā Ta`lamūna | 030-056* The ones who have been given knowledge and faith will say: "You have hung around until the Day of Rebirth, but you are such that you do not know it!: | وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَالإِيمَانَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ ۖ فَهَذَا يَوْمُ الْبَعْثِ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Fayawma'idhin Lā Yanfa`u Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Ma`dhiratuhum Wa Lā Hum Yusta`tabūna | 030-057* On that day no excuse of theirs will benefit those who have done wrong nor will they be allowed to argue back. | فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لاَ يَنفَعُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Đarabnā Lilnnāsi Fī Hādhā Al-Qur'āni Min Kulli Mathalin ۚ Wa La'in Ji'tahum Bi'āyatin Layaqūlanna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'In 'Antum 'Illā Mubţilūna | 030-058* We have set forth every sort of example for men in this Quran. Yet even if you brought them some sign, those who disbelieve would still say: "You (all) are only trifling!" | وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَثَلٍ ۚ وَلَئِنْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِآيَةٍ لَيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلاَّ مُبْطِلُونَ |
| Kadhālika Yaţba`u Al-Lahu `Alá Qulūbi Al-Ladhīna Lā Ya`lamūna | 030-059* Thus God seals off the hearts of those who will not know. | كَذَلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Fāşbir 'Inna Wa`da Al-Lahi Ĥaqqun ۖ Wa Lā Yastakhiffannaka Al-Ladhīna Lā Yūqinūna | 030-060* Be patient; God's promise is true. Do not let those who will not be convinced treat you lightly! | فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ وَلاَ يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُوقِنُونَ |
