| 'Alif-Lām-Mīm | 031-001. Alif Lam Mim. | أَلِف-لَام-مِيم |
| Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Al-Ĥakīmi | 031-002. These are verses of the Book of Wisdom | تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْحَكِيمِ |
| Hudáan Wa Raĥmatan Lilmuĥsinīna | 031-003. A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, | هُدى ً وَرَحْمَة ً لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yuqīmūna Aş-Şalāata Wa Yu'utūna Az-Zakāata Wa Hum Bil-'Ākhirati Hum Yūqinūna | 031-004. Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. | الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ بِالآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika `Alá Hudáan Min Rabbihim Wa 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | 031-005. These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: | أُوْلَائِكَ عَلَى هُدى ً مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
| Wa Mina An-Nāsi Man Yashtarī Lahwa Al-Ĥadīthi Liyuđilla `An Sabīli Allāhi Bighayri `Ilmin Wa Yattakhidhahā Huzūan 'Ūla'ika Lahum `Adhābun Muhīnun | 031-006. And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement. | وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْم ٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُواً أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَاب ٌ مُهِين ٌ |
| Wa 'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Wallá Mustakbirāan Ka'an Lam Yasma`hā Ka'anna Fī 'Udhunayhi Waqrāan Fabashshirhu Bi`adhābin 'Alīmin | 031-007. And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement. | وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا وَلَّى مُسْتَكْبِرا ً كَأَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرا ً فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيم ٍ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lahum Jannātu An-Na`īmi | 031-008. (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss, | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ النَّعِيمِ |
| Khālidīna Fīhā Wa`da Allāhi Ĥaqqāan Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | 031-009. Abiding in them; the promise of Allah; (a) true (promise), and He is the Mighty, the Wise. | خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقّا ً وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
| Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Bighayri `Amadin Tarawnahā Wa 'Alqá Fī Al-'Arđi Rawāsiya 'An Tamīda Bikum Wa Baththa Fīhā Min Kulli Dābbatin Wa 'Anzalnā Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fa'anbatnā Fīhā Min Kulli Zawjin Karīmin | 031-010. He created the heavens without pillars as you see them, and put mountains upon the earth lest it might convulse with you, and He spread in it animals of every kind; and We sent down water from the cloud, then caused to grow therein (vegetation) of every noble kind. | خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَد ٍ تَرَوْنَهَا وَأَلْقَى فِي الأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَنْ تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ دَابَّة ٍ وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاء ً فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْج ٍ كَرِيم ٍ |
| Hādhā Khalqu Allāhi Fa'arūnī Mādhā Khalaqa Al-Ladhīna Min Dūnihi Bali Až-Žālimūna Fī Đalālin Mubīnin | 031-011. This is Allah's creation, but show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the unjust are in manifest error | هَذَا خَلْقُ اللَّهِ فَأَرُونِي مَاذَا خَلَقَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ دُونِه ِِ بَلِ الظَّالِمُونَ فِي ضَلاَل ٍ مُبِين ٍ |
| Wa Laqad 'Ātaynā Luqmāna Al-Ĥikmata 'Ani Ashkur Lillāhi Wa Man Yashkur Fa'innamā Yashkuru Linafsihi Wa Man Kafara Fa'inna Allāha Ghanīyun Ĥamīdun | 031-012. And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman, saying: Be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is on!y grateful for his own soul; and whoever is ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised. | وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا لُقْمَانَ الْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِلَّهِ وَمَنْ يَشْكُرْ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِه ِِ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيد ٌ |
| Wa 'Idh Qāla Luqmānu Liābnihi Wa Huwa Ya`ižuhu Yā Bunayya Lā Tushrik Billāhi 'Inna Ash-Shirka Lažulmun `Ažīmun | 031-013. And when Luqman said to his son while he admonished him: O my son! do not associate aught with Allah; most surely polytheism is a grievous iniquity-- | وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لِابْنِه ِِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُه ُُ يَابُنَيَّ لاَ تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيم ٌ |
| Wa Waşşaynā Al-'Insāna Biwālidayhi Ĥamalat/hu 'Ummuhu Wahnāan `Alá Wahnin Wa Fişāluhu Fī `Āmayni 'Ani Ashkur Lī Wa Liwālidayka 'Ilayya Al-Maşīru | 031-014. And We have enjoined man in respect of his parents-- his mother bears him with faintings upon faintings and his weaning takes two years-- saying: Be grateful to Me and to both your parents; to Me is the eventual coming. | وَوَصَّيْنَا الإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّه ُُ وَهْناً عَلَى وَهْن ٍ وَفِصَالُه ُُ فِي عَامَيْنِ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ |
| Wa 'In Jāhadāka `Alá 'An Tushrika Bī Mā Laysa Laka Bihi `Ilmun Falā Tuţi`humā Wa Şāĥibhumā Fī Ad-Dunyā Ma`rūfāan Wa Attabi` Sabīla Man 'Anāba 'Ilayya Thumma 'Ilayya Marji`ukum Fa'unabbi'ukum Bimā Kuntum Ta`malūna | 031-015. And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them, and keep company with them in this world kindly, and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, then will I inform you of what you did-- | وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ عَلى أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِه ِِ عِلْم ٌ فَلاَ تُطِعْهُمَا وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفا ً وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيَّ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Yā Bunayya 'Innahā 'In Takun Mithqāla Ĥabbatin Min Khardalin Fatakun Fī Şakhratin 'Aw Fī As-Samāwāti 'Aw Fī Al-'Arđi Ya'ti Bihā Allāhu 'Inna Allāha Laţīfun Khabīrun | 031-016. O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware; | يَابُنَيَّ إِنَّهَا إِنْ تَكُنْ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّة ٍ مِنْ خَرْدَل ٍ فَتَكُنْ فِي صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ أَوْ فِي الأَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا اللَّهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَطِيفٌ خَبِير ٌ |
| Yā Bunayya 'Aqimi Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Mur Bil-Ma`rūfi Wa Anha `Ani Al-Munkari Wa Aşbir `Alá Mā 'Aşābaka 'Inna Dhālika Min `Azmi Al-'Umūri | 031-017. O my son! keep up prayer and enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and bear patiently that which befalls you; surely these acts require courage; | يَابُنَيَّ أَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَاصْبِرْ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَكَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الأُمُورِ |
| Wa Lā Tuşa``ir Khaddaka Lilnnāsi Wa Lā Tamshi Fī Al-'Arđi Maraĥāan 'Inna Allāha Lā Yuĥibbu Kulla Mukhtālin Fakhūrin | 031-018. And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exulting overmuch; surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster; | وَلاَ تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلاَ تَمْشِ فِي الأَرْضِ مَرَحا ً إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَال ٍ فَخُور ٍ |
| Wāqşid Fī Mashyika Wa Aghđuđ Min Şawtika 'Inna 'Ankara Al-'Aşwāti Laşawtu Al-Ĥamīri | 031-019. And pursue the right course in your going about and lower your voice; surely the most hateful of voices is braying of the asses. | وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ الأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ |
| 'Alam Taraw 'Anna Allāha Sakhkhara Lakum Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Wa 'Asbagha `Alaykum Ni`amahu Žāhiratan Wa Bāţinatan Wa Mina An-Nāsi Man Yujādilu Fī Allāhi Bighayri `Ilmin Wa Lā Hudáan Wa Lā Kitābin Munīrin | 031-020. Do you not see that Allah has made what is in the heavens and what is in the earth subservient to you, and made complete to you His favors outwardly and inwardly? And among men is he who disputes in respect of Allah though having no knowledge nor guidance, nor a book giving light. | أَلَمْ تَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَه ُُ ظَاهِرَة ً وَبَاطِنَة ً وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْم ٍ وَلاَ هُدى ً وَلاَ كِتَاب ٍ مُنِير ٍ |
| Wa 'Idhā Qīla Lahumu Attabi`ū Mā 'Anzala Allāhu Qālū Bal Nattabi`u Mā Wajadnā `Alayhi 'Ābā'anā 'Awalaw Kāna Ash-Shayţānu Yad`ūhum 'Ilá `Adhābi As-Sa`īri | 031-021. And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire! | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ |
| Wa Man Yuslim Wajhahu 'Ilá Allāhi Wa Huwa Muĥsinun Faqadi Astamsaka Bil-`Urwati Al-Wuthqá Wa 'Ilá Allāhi `Āqibatu Al-'Umūri | 031-022. And whoever submits himself wholly to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others), he indeed has taken hold of the firmest thing upon which one can lay hold; and Allah's is the end of affairs. | وَمَنْ يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ~ُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِن ٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى وَإِلَى اللَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الأُمُورِ |
| Wa Man Kafara Falā Yaĥzunka Kufruhu 'Ilaynā Marji`uhum Fanunabbi'uhum Bimā `Amilū 'Inna Allāha `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri | 031-023. And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; to Us is their return, then will We inform them of what they did surely Allah is the Knower of what is in the breasts. | وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَلاَ يَحْزُنْكَ كُفْرُهُ~ُ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيم ٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ |
| Numatti`uhum Qalīlāan Thumma Nađţarruhum 'Ilá `Adhābin Ghalīžin | 031-024. We give them to enjoy a little, then will We drive them to a severe chastisement. | نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلا ً ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابٍ غَلِيظ ٍ |
| Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Layaqūlunna Allāhu Quli Al-Ĥamdu Lillāhi Bal 'Aktharuhum Lā Ya`lamūna | 031-025. And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say: Allah. Say: (All) praise is due to Allah; nay! most of them do not know. | وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Lillāhi Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi 'Inna Allāha Huwa Al-Ghanīyu Al-Ĥamīdu | 031-026. What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah's; surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised. | لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ |
| Wa Law 'Annamā Fī Al-'Arđi Min Shajaratin 'Aqlāmun Wa Al-Baĥru Yamudduhu Min Ba`dihi Sab`atu 'Abĥurin Mā Nafidat Kalimātu Allāhi 'Inna Allāha `Azīzun Ĥakīmun | 031-027. And were every tree that is in the earth (made into) pens and the sea (to supply it with ink), with seven more seas to increase it, the words of Allah would not come to an end; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. | وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلاَم ٌ وَالْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّه ُُ مِنْ بَعْدِه ِِ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُر ٍ مَا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَاتُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيم ٌ |
| Mā Khalqukum Wa Lā Ba`thukum 'Illā Kanafsin Wāĥidatin 'Inna Allāha Samī`un Başīrun | 031-028. Neither your creation nor your raising is anything but as a single soul; surely Allah is Hearing, Seeing. | مَا خَلْقُكُمْ وَلاَ بَعْثُكُمْ إِلاَّ كَنَفْس ٍ وَاحِدَة ٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيع ٌ بَصِير ٌ |
| 'Alam Tará 'Anna Allāha Yūliju Al-Layla Fī An-Nahāri Wa Yūliju An-Nahāra Fī Al-Layli Wa Sakhkhara Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Kullun Yajrī 'Ilá 'Ajalin Musammáan Wa 'Anna Allāha Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun | 031-029. Do you not see that Allah makes the night to enter into the day, and He makes the day to enter into the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient (to you); each pursues its course till an appointed time; and that Allah is Aware of what you do? | أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلّ ٌ يَجْرِي إِلَى أَجَل ٍ مُسَمّى ً وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِير ٌ |
| Dhālika Bi'anna Allāha Huwa Al-Ĥaqqu Wa 'Anna Mā Yad`ūna Min Dūnihi Al-Bāţilu Wa 'Anna Allāha Huwa Al-`Alīyu Al-Kabīru | 031-030. This is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon besides Him is the falsehood, and that Allah is the High, the Great. | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ الْبَاطِلُ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْكَبِيرُ |
| 'Alam Tará 'Anna Al-Fulka Tajrī Fī Al-Baĥri Bini`mati Allāhi Liyuriyakum Min 'Āyātihi 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Likulli Şabbārin Shakūrin | 031-031. Do you not see that the ships run on in the sea by Allah's favor that He may show you of His signs? Most surely there are signs in this for every patient endurer, grateful one. | أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ الْفُلْكَ تَجْرِي فِي الْبَحْرِ بِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ لِيُرِيَكُمْ مِنْ آيَاتِهِ~ِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَات ٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّار ٍ شَكُور ٍ |
| Wa 'Idhā Ghashiyahum Mawjun Kālžžulali Da`aw Allāha Mukhlişīna Lahu Ad-Dīna Falammā Najjāhum 'Ilá Al-Barri Faminhum Muqtaşidun Wa Mā Yajĥadu Bi'āyātinā 'Illā Kullu Khattārin Kafūrin | 031-032. And when a wave like mountains covers them they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, but when He brings them safe to the land, some of them follow the middle course; and none denies Our signs but every perfidious, ungrateful one. | وَإِذَا غَشِيَهُمْ مَوْج ٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوْا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ فَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِد ٌ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلاَّ كُلُّ خَتَّار ٍ كَفُور ٍ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nāsu Attaqū Rabbakum Wa Akhshaw Yawmāan Lā Yajzī Wa A-Dun `An Waladihi Wa Lā Mawlūdun Huwa Jāzin `An Wa A-Dihi Shay'āan 'Inna Wa`da Allāhi Ĥaqqun Falā Taghurrannakumu Al-Ĥayā Atu Ad-Dunyā Wa Lā Yaghurrannakum Billāhi Al-Gharūru | 031-033. O people! guard against (the punishment of) your Lord and dread the day when a father shall not make any satisfaction for his son, nor shall the child be the maker of any satisfaction for his father; surely the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not this world's life deceive you, nor let the archdeceiver deceive you in respect of Allah. | يَاأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْما ً لاَ يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَنْ وَلَدِه ِِ وَلاَ مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَنْ وَالِدِه ِِ شَيْئا ً إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقّ ٌ فَلاَ تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلاَ يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ |
| 'Inna Allāha `Indahu `Ilmu As-Sā`ati Wa Yunazzilu Al-Ghaytha Wa Ya`lamu Mā Fī Al-'Arĥāmi Wa Mā Tadrī Nafsun Mādhā Taksibu Ghadāan Wa Mā Tadrī Nafsun Bi'ayyi 'Arđin Tamūtu 'Inna Allāha `Alīmun Khabīrun | 031-034. Surely Allah is He with Whom is the knowledge of the hour, and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs; and no one knows what he shall earn on the morrow; and no one knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware. | إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَه ُُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الأَرْحَامِ وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْس ٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدا ً وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْس ٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْض ٍ تَمُوتُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِير ٌ |
