By the heaven, and At-Tāriq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); (At-Tariq 86:1)
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Aţ-Ţāriqu
And what will make you to know what At-Tāriq (night-comer) is? (At-Tariq 86:2)
An-Najmu Ath-Thāqibu
(It is) the star of piercing brightness; (At-Tariq 86:3)
'In Kullu Nafsin Lammā `Alayhā Ĥāfižun
There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.). (At-Tariq 86:4)
By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. (At-Tariq 86:11)
Wa Al-'Arđi Dhāti Aş-Şad`i
And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), (At-Tariq 86:12)
'Innahu Laqawlun Faşlun
Verily! This (the Qur'ān) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). (At-Tariq 86:13)
Wa Mā Huwa Bil-Hazli
And it is not a thing for amusement. (At-Tariq 86:14)
'Innahum Yakīdūna Kaydāan
Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). (At-Tariq 86:15)
Wa 'Akīdu Kaydāan
And I (too) am planning a plan. (At-Tariq 86:16)
Famahhili Al-Kāfirīna 'AmhilhumRuwaydāan
So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. (At-Tariq 86:17)
