37) سُورَة الصَّافَّات
37) Sūrat Aş-Şāffāt | 37) سُورَة الصَّافَّات |
| Wa Aş-Şāffāti Şaffāan | By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). (As-Saffat 37:1) | وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفّا ً |
| Fālzzājirāti Zajrāan | By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. (As-Saffat 37:2) | فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرا ً |
| Fālttāliyāti Dhikrāan | By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Qur'ān from Allāh to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathīr]. (As-Saffat 37:3) | فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرا ً |
| 'Inna 'Ilahakum Lawāĥidun | Verily your Ilāh (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allāh); (As-Saffat 37:4) | إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِد ٌ |
| Rabbu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Wa Rabbu Al-Mashāriqi | Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun's risings. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allāh). (As-Saffat 37:5) | رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ |
| 'Innā Zayyannā As-Samā'a Ad-Dunyā Bizīnatin Al-Kawākib | Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). (As-Saffat 37:6) | إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَة ٍ الْكَوَاكِب |
| Wa Ĥifžāan Min Kulli Shayţānin Māridin | And to guard against every rebellious devil. (As-Saffat 37:7) | وَحِفْظا ً مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَان ٍ مَارِد ٍ |
| Lā Yassamma`ūna 'Ilá Al-Mala'i Al-'A`lá Wa Yuqdhafūna Min Kulli Jānibin | They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. (As-Saffat 37:8) | لاَ يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الأَعْلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِب ٍ |
| Duĥūrāan Wa Lahum `Adhābun Wa Aşibun | Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. (As-Saffat 37:9) | دُحُورا ً وَلَهُمْ عَذَاب ٌ وَاصِب ٌ |
| 'Illā Man Khaţifa Al-Khaţfata Fa'atba`ahu Shihābun Thāqibāun | Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. (As-Saffat 37:10) | إِلاَّ مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَه ُُ شِهَاب ٌ ثَاقِبا ٌ |
| Fāstaftihim 'Ahum 'Ashaddu Khalqāan 'Am Man Khalaqnā 'Innā Khalaqnāhum Min Ţīnin Lāzibin | Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. (As-Saffat 37:11) | فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقاً أَمْ مَنْ خَلَقْنَا إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِنْ طِين ٍ لاَزِب ٍ |
| Bal `Ajibta Wa Yaskharūna | Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Qur'ān). (As-Saffat 37:12) | بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Dhukkirū Lā Yadhkurūna | And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. (As-Saffat 37:13) | وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لاَ يَذْكُرُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Ra'aw 'Āyatan Yastaskhirūna | And when they see an Ayāh (a sign, a proof, or an evidence) from Allāh, they mock at it. (As-Saffat 37:14) | وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَة ً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ |
| Wa Qālū 'In Hādhā 'Illā Siĥrun Mubīnun | And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! (As-Saffat 37:15) | وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ سِحْر ٌ مُبِين ٌ |
| 'A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'innā Lamab`ūthūna | "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? (As-Saffat 37:16) | أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ |
| 'Awa'ābā'uunā Al-'Awwalūna | "And also our fathers of old?" (As-Saffat 37:17) | أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الأَوَّلُونَ |
| Qul Na`am Wa 'Antum Dākhirūna | Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Yes, and you shall then be humiliated." (As-Saffat 37:18) | قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ |
| Fa'innamā Hiya Zajratun Wāĥidatun Fa'idhā Hum Yanžurūna | It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! (As-Saffat 37:19) | فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَة ٌ وَاحِدَة ٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ |
| Wa Qālū Yā Waylanā Hādhā Yawmu Ad-Dīni | They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" (As-Saffat 37:20) | وَقَالُوا يَاوَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ |
| Hādhā Yawmu Al-Faşli Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna | (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." (As-Saffat 37:21) | هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
| Aĥshurū Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Wa 'Azwājahum Wa Mā Kānū Ya`budūna | (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. (As-Saffat 37:22) | احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ |
| Min Dūni Allāhi Fāhdūhum 'Ilá Şirāţi Al-Jaĥīmi | "Instead of Allāh, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); (As-Saffat 37:23) | مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| Wa Qifūhum 'Innahum Mas'ūlūna | "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. (As-Saffat 37:24) | وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ |
| Mā Lakum Lā Tanāşarūna | "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" (As-Saffat 37:25) | مَا لَكُمْ لاَ تَنَاصَرُونَ |
| Bal Humu Al-Yawma Mustaslimūna | Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, (As-Saffat 37:26) | بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ |
| Wa 'Aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasā'alūna | And they will turn to one another and question one another. (As-Saffat 37:27) | وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ |
| Qālū 'Innakum Kuntum Ta'tūnanā `Ani Al-Yamīni | They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islāmic Monotheism and from every good deed]." (As-Saffat 37:28) | قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ |
| Qālū Bal Lam Takūnū Mu'uminīna | They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. (As-Saffat 37:29) | قَالُوا بَلْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Wa Mā Kāna Lanā `Alaykum Min Sulţānin Bal Kuntum Qawmāan Ţāghīna | "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). (As-Saffat 37:30) | وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ سُلْطَان ٍ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْما ً طَاغِينَ |
| Faĥaqqa `Alaynā Qawlu Rabbinā 'Innā Ladhā'iqūna | "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). (As-Saffat 37:31) | فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ |
| Fa'aghwaynākum 'Innā Kunnā Ghāwīna | "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." (As-Saffat 37:32) | فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ |
| Fa'innahum Yawma'idhin Fī Al-`Adhābi Mushtarikūna | Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. (As-Saffat 37:33) | فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ |
| 'Innā Kadhālika Naf`alu Bil-Mujrimīna | Certainly, that is how We deal with AlMujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allāh, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:34) | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ |
| 'Innahum Kānū 'Idhā Qīla Lahum Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Allāhu Yastakbirūna | Truly, when it was said to them: Lā ilāha ill-Allāh "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allāh)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). (As-Saffat 37:35) | إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لاَ إِلَهَ~َ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ |
| Wa Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Latārikū 'Ālihatinā Lishā`irin Majnūnin | And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our āliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? (As-Saffat 37:36) | وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوا آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِر ٍ مَجْنُون ٍ |
| Bal Jā'a Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Şaddaqa Al-Mursalīna | Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allāh's Religion - Islāmic Monotheism and this Qur'ān) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allāh's religion - Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:37) | بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 'Innakum Ladhā'iqū Al-`Adhābi Al-'Alīmi | Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; (As-Saffat 37:38) | إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الأَلِيمِ |
| Wa Mā Tujzawna 'Illā Mā Kuntum Ta`malūna | And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allāh's disobedience which you used to do in this world); (As-Saffat 37:39) | وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| 'Illā `Ibāda Allāhi Al-Mukhlaşīna | Save the chosen slaves of Allāh (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:40) | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Lahum Rizqun Ma`lūmun | For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). (As-Saffat 37:41) | أُوْلَائِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْق ٌ مَعْلُوم ٌ |
| Fawākihu Wa Hum Mukramūna | Fruits; and they shall be honoured, (As-Saffat 37:42) | فَوَاكِه ُُ وَهُمْ مُكْرَمُونَ |
| Fī Jannāti An-Na`īmi | In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), (As-Saffat 37:43) | فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ |
| `Alá Sururin Mutaqābilīna | Facing one another on thrones, (As-Saffat 37:44) | عَلَى سُرُر ٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ |
| Yuţāfu `Alayhim Bika'sin Min Ma`īnin | Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; (As-Saffat 37:45) | يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْس ٍ مِنْ مَعِين ٍ |
| Bayđā'a Ladhdhatin Lilshshāribīna | White, delicious to the drinkers, (As-Saffat 37:46) | بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّة ٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ |
| Lā Fīhā Ghawlun Wa Lā Hum `Anhā Yunzafūna | Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. (As-Saffat 37:47) | لاَ فِيهَا غَوْل ٌ وَلاَ هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ |
| Wa `Indahum Qāşirātu Aţ-Ţarfi `Īnun | And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. (As-Saffat 37:48) | وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِين ٌ |
| Ka'annahunna Bayđun Maknūnun | (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. (As-Saffat 37:49) | كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْض ٌ مَكْنُون ٌ |
| Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasā'alūna | Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. (As-Saffat 37:50) | فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ |
| Qāla Qā'ilun Minhum 'Innī Kāna Lī Qarīnun | A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), (As-Saffat 37:51) | قَالَ قَائِل ٌ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِين ٌ |
| Yaqūlu 'A'innaka Lamina Al-Muşaddiqīna | Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). (As-Saffat 37:52) | يَقُولُ أَئِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ |
| 'A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'innā Lamadīnūna | "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" (As-Saffat 37:53) | أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ |
| Qāla Hal 'Antum Muţţali`ūna | (The man) said: "Will you look down?" (As-Saffat 37:54) | قَالَ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُطَّلِعُونَ |
| Fāţţala`a Fara'āhu Fī Sawā'i Al-Jaĥīmi | So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. (As-Saffat 37:55) | فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| Qāla Ta-Allāhi 'In Kidta Laturdīni | He said: "By Allāh! You have nearly ruined me. (As-Saffat 37:56) | قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ |
| Wa Lawlā Ni`matu Rabbī Lakuntu Mina Al-Muĥđarīna | "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." (As-Saffat 37:57) | وَلَوْلاَ نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ |
| 'Afamā Naĥnu Bimayyitīna | (Allāh informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? (As-Saffat 37:58) | أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ |
| 'Illā Mawtatanā Al-'Ūlá Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimu`adhdhabīna | "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." (As-Saffat 37:59) | إِلاَّ مَوْتَتَنَا الأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ |
| 'Inna Hādhā Lahuwa Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažīmu | Truly, this is the supreme success! (As-Saffat 37:60) | إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ |
| Limithli Hādhā Falya`mali Al-`Āmilūna | For the like of this let the workers work. (As-Saffat 37:61) | لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ |
| 'Adhalika Khayrun Nuzulāan 'Am Shajaratu Az-Zaqqūmi | Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqûm (a horrible tree in Hell)? (As-Saffat 37:62) | أَذَلِكَ خَيْر ٌ نُزُلاً أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ |
| 'Innā Ja`alnāhā Fitnatan Lilžžālimīna | Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zālimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:63) | إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَة ً لِلظَّالِمِينَ |
| 'Innahā Shajaratun Takhruju Fī 'Aşli Al-Jaĥīmi | Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, (As-Saffat 37:64) | إِنَّهَا شَجَرَة ٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| Ţal`uhā Ka'annahu Ru'ūsu Ash-Shayāţīni | The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayātin (devils); (As-Saffat 37:65) | طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّه ُُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ |
| Fa'innahum La'ākilūna Minhā Famāli'ūna Minhā Al-Buţūna | Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. (As-Saffat 37:66) | فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ |
| Thumma 'Inna Lahum `Alayhā Lashawbāan Min Ĥamīmin | Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqûm in their bellies). (As-Saffat 37:67) | ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبا ً مِنْ حَمِيم ٍ |
| Thumma 'Inna Marji`ahum La'ilá Al-Jaĥīmi | Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. (As-Saffat 37:68) | ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ |
| 'Innahum 'Alfaw 'Ābā'ahum Đāllīna | Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; (As-Saffat 37:69) | إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ |
| Fahum `Alá 'Āthārihim Yuhra`ūna | So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! (As-Saffat 37:70) | فَهُمْ عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Đalla Qablahum 'Aktharu Al-'Awwalīna | And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; (As-Saffat 37:71) | وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الأَوَّلِينَ |
| Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Fīhim Mundhirīna | And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); (As-Saffat 37:72) | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ مُنذِرِينَ |
| Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mundharīna | Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). (As-Saffat 37:73) | فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ |
| 'Illā `Ibāda Allāhi Al-Mukhlaşīna | Except the chosen slaves of Allāh (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:74) | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| Wa Laqad Nādānā Nūĥun Falani`ma Al-Mujībūna | And indeed Nûh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). (As-Saffat 37:75) | وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوح ٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ |
| Wa Najjaynāhu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažīmi | And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), (As-Saffat 37:76) | وَنَجَّيْنَاه ُُ وَأَهْلَه ُُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| Wa Ja`alnā Dhurrīyatahu Humu Al-Bāqīna | And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). (As-Saffat 37:77) | وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَه ُُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ |
| Wa Taraknā `Alayhi Fī Al-'Ākhirīna | And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: (As-Saffat 37:78) | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ |
| Salāmun `Alá Nūĥin Fī Al-`Ālamīna | Salāmun (peace) be upon Nûh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" (As-Saffat 37:79) | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى نُوح ٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 'Innā Kadhālika Najzī Al-Muĥsinīna | Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:80) | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 'Innahu Min `Ibādinā Al-Mu'uminīna | Verily, he [Nûh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:81) | إِنَّه ُُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Thumma 'Aghraqnā Al-'Ākharīna | Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:82) | ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الآخَرِينَ |
| Wa 'Inna Min Shī`atihi La'ibrāhīma | And, verily, among those who followed his [Nûh's (Noah)] way (Islāmic Monotheism) was Ibrāhim (Abraham). (As-Saffat 37:83) | وَإِنَّ مِنْ شِيعَتِه ِِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ |
| 'Idh Jā'a Rabbahu Biqalbin Salīmin | When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allāh Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allāh Alone true Islāmic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism]. (As-Saffat 37:84) | إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّه ُُ بِقَلْب ٍ سَلِيم ٍ |
| 'Idh Qāla Li'abīhi Wa Qawmihi Mādhā Ta`budūna | When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship? (As-Saffat 37:85) | إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيه ِِ وَقَوْمِه ِِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ |
| 'A'ifkāan 'Ālihatan Dūna Allāhi Turīdūna | "Is it a falsehood āliha (gods) other than Allāh that you seek? (As-Saffat 37:86) | أَئِفْكا ً آلِهَة ً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ |
| Famā Žannukum Birabbi Al-`Ālamīna | "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" (As-Saffat 37:87) | فَمَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Fanažara Nažratan Fī An-Nujūmi | Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them), (As-Saffat 37:88) | فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَة ً فِي النُّجُومِ |
| Faqāla 'Innī Saqīmun | And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)." (As-Saffat 37:89) | فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيم ٌ |
| Fatawallaw `Anhu Mudbirīna | So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). (As-Saffat 37:90) | فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ |
| Farāgha 'Ilá 'Ālihatihim Faqāla 'Alā Ta'kulūna | Then he turned to their āliha (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)? (As-Saffat 37:91) | فَرَاغَ إِلَى آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ |
| Mā Lakum Lā Tanţiqūna | "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" (As-Saffat 37:92) | مَا لَكُمْ لاَ تَنطِقُونَ |
| Farāgha `Alayhim Đarbāan Bil-Yamīni | Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. (As-Saffat 37:93) | فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبا ً بِالْيَمِينِ |
| Fa'aqbalū 'Ilayhi Yaziffūna | Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening. (As-Saffat 37:94) | فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ |
| Qāla 'Ata`budūna Mā Tanĥitūna | He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? (As-Saffat 37:95) | قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ |
| Wa Allāhu Khalaqakum Wa Mā Ta`malūna | "While Allāh has created you and what you make!" (As-Saffat 37:96) | وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Qālū Abnū Lahu Bunyānāan Fa'alqūhu Fī Al-Jaĥīmi | They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" (As-Saffat 37:97) | قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَه ُُ بُنْيَانا ً فَأَلْقُوه ُُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ |
| Fa'arādū Bihi Kaydāan Faja`alnāhumu Al-'Asfalīna | So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. (As-Saffat 37:98) | فَأَرَادُوا بِه ِِ كَيْدا ً فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الأَسْفَلِينَ |
| Wa Qāla 'Innī Dhāhibun 'Ilá Rabbī Sayahdīni | And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" (As-Saffat 37:99) | وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِب ٌ إِلَى رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ |
| Rabbi Hab Lī Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna | "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." (As-Saffat 37:100) | رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ |
| Fabashsharnāhu Bighulāmin Ĥalīmin | So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. (As-Saffat 37:101) | فَبَشَّرْنَاه ُُ بِغُلاَمٍ حَلِيم ٍ |
| Falammā Balagha Ma`ahu As-Sa`ya Qāla Yā Bunayya 'Innī 'Ará Fī Al-Manāmi 'Annī 'Adhbaĥuka Fānžur Mādhā Tará Qāla Yā 'Abati Af`al Mā Tu'umaru Satajidunī 'In Shā'a Allāhu Mina Aş-Şābirīna | And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allāh), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshā' Allāh (if Allāh will), you shall find me of As-Sābirin (the patient ones, etc.)." (As-Saffat 37:102) | فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَابُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَى قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ |
| Falammā 'Aslamā Wa Tallahu Liljabīni | Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allāh), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); (As-Saffat 37:103) | فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّه ُُ لِلْجَبِينِ |
| Wa Nādaynāhu 'An Yā 'Ibrāhīmu | And We called out to him: "O Abraham! (As-Saffat 37:104) | وَنَادَيْنَاهُ~ُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ |
| Qad Şaddaqta Ar-Ru'uyā 'Innā Kadhālika Najzī Al-Muĥsinīna | You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:105) | قَد صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 'Inna Hādhā Lahuwa Al-Balā'u Al-Mubīnu | Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial (As-Saffat 37:106) | إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلاَءُ الْمُبِينُ |
| Wa Fadaynāhu Bidhibĥin `Ažīmin | And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. - a ram); (As-Saffat 37:107) | وَفَدَيْنَاه ُُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيم ٍ |
| Wa Taraknā `Alayhi Fī Al-'Ākhirīna | And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. (As-Saffat 37:108) | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ |
| Salāmun `Alá 'Ibrāhīma | Salāmun (peace) be upon Ibrāhim (Abraham)!" (As-Saffat 37:109) | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ |
| Kadhālika Najzī Al-Muĥsinīna | Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:110) | كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 'Innahu Min `Ibādinā Al-Mu'uminīna | Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:111) | إِنَّه ُُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Wa Bashsharnāhu Bi'isĥāqa Nabīyāan Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna | And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishāque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. (As-Saffat 37:112) | وَبَشَّرْنَاه ُُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيّا ً مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ |
| Wa Bāraknā `Alayhi Wa `Alá 'Isĥāqa Wa Min Dhurrīyatihimā Muĥsinun Wa Žālimun Linafsihi Mubīnun | We blessed him and Ishāque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. (As-Saffat 37:113) | وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى إِسْحَاقَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِن ٌ وَظَالِم ٌ لِنَفْسِه ِِ مُبِين ٌ |
| Wa Laqad Manannā `Alá Mūsá Wa Hārūna | And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Mûsa (Moses) and Hārûn (Aaron). (As-Saffat 37:114) | وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ |
| Wa Najjaynāhumā Wa Qawmahumā Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažīmi | And We saved them and their people from the great distress; (As-Saffat 37:115) | وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| Wa Naşarnāhum Fakānū Humu Al-Ghālibīna | And helped them, so that they became the victors; (As-Saffat 37:116) | وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ |
| Wa 'Ātaynāhumā Al-Kitāba Al-Mustabīna | And We gave them the clear Scripture; (As-Saffat 37:117) | وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ |
| Wa Hadaynāhumā Aş-Şirāţa Al-Mustaqīma | And guided them to the Right Path; (As-Saffat 37:118) | وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ |
| Wa Taraknā `Alayhimā Fī Al-'Ākhirīna | And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; (As-Saffat 37:119) | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الآخِرِينَ |
| Salāmun `Alá Mūsá Wa Hārūna | Salāmun (peace) be upon Mûsa (Moses) and Hārûn (Aaron)!" (As-Saffat 37:120) | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ |

| Wa 'Inna 'Ilyāsa Lamina Al-Mursalīna | And verily, Iliyās (Elias) was one of the Messengers. (As-Saffat 37:123) | وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 'Idh Qāla Liqawmihi 'Alā Tattaqūna | When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allāh? (As-Saffat 37:124) | إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ~ِ أَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ |
| 'Atad`ūna Ba`lāan Wa Tadharūna 'Aĥsana Al-Khāliqīna | "Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators, (As-Saffat 37:125) | أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلا ً وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ |
| Allāha Rabbakum Wa Rabba 'Ābā'ikumu Al-'Awwalīna | "Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?" (As-Saffat 37:126) | اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ |
| Fakadhdhabūhu Fa'innahum Lamuĥđarūna | But they denied him [Iliyās (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment), (As-Saffat 37:127) | فَكَذَّبُوه ُُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ |
| 'Illā `Ibāda Allāhi Al-Mukhlaşīna | Except the chosen slaves of Allāh. (As-Saffat 37:128) | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| Wa Taraknā `Alayhi Fī Al-'Ākhirīna | And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; (As-Saffat 37:129) | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ |
| Salāmun `Alá 'Il Yā -Sīn | Salāmun (peace) be upon Ilyāsīn (Elias)!" (As-Saffat 37:130) | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِلْ يَا-سِين |
