Wa A ş -Ş ā ffā ti Ş affāan
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). (As-Saffat 37:1)
وَالصَّ ا فَّا تِ صَ فّاً
Fālzzājir ā ti Zaj rā an
By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. (As-Saffat 37:2)
فَالزَّاجِرَ ا تِ زَجْ راً
Fālttāliyā ti Dh ikrā an
By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Qur'ān from Allāh to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathīr]. (As-Saffat 37:3)
فَالتَّالِيَا تِ ذِكْراً
'Inn a 'Ilahakum Lawāĥid un
Verily your Ilāh (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allāh); (As-Saffat 37:4)
إِنّ َ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ
Ra bbu A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Wa Ra bbu A l-Mash ār iq i
Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun's risings. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allāh). (As-Saffat 37:5)
رَ بُّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَ بُّ ا لْمَشَار ِقِ
'Inn ā Zayyann ā A s-Samā 'a A d-Dun yā Bizīnatin A l-Kawākib
Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). (As-Saffat 37:6)
إِنَّ ا زَيَّنَّ ا ا ل سَّمَا ءَ ا ل دُّنْ يَا بِزِينَةٍ ا لْكَوَاكِب
Wa Ĥifžāan Min Kulli Sh ayţ ā nin Mār id in
And to guard against every rebellious devil. (As-Saffat 37:7)
وَحِفْظ ا ً مِن ْ كُلِّ شَيْطَ ا نٍ مَار ِدٍ
Lā Yassamm a`ū na 'Ilá A l-Mala'i A l-'A`lá Wa Yuq dh afū na Min Kulli Jānib in
They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. (As-Saffat 37:8)
لاَ يَسَّمَّ عُو نَ إِلَى ا لْمَلَإِ ا لأَعْلَى وَيُقْ ذَفُو نَ مِن ْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
Duĥūrā an ۖ Wa Lahum `Adh ā bun Wa A ş ib un
Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. (As-Saffat 37:9)
دُحُورا ً ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَا بٌ وَا صِ بٌ
'Illā Man Kh aţ ifa A l-Kh aţ fata Fa'atba`ahu Sh ihā bun Th āq ibunā
Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. (As-Saffat 37:10)
إِلاَّ مَن ْ خَ طِ فَ ا لْخَ طْ فَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَا بٌ ثَاقِ باٌ
Fāstaftihim 'Ahum 'Ash addu Kh alq āan 'Am Man Kh alaq nā ۚ 'Inn ā Kh alaq nāhum Min Ţ ī nin Lāzib in
Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. (As-Saffat 37:11)
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَ لْق اً أَمْ مَن ْ خَ لَقْ نَا ۚ إِنَّ ا خَ لَقْ نَاهُمْ مِن ْ طِ ي نٍ لاَزِبٍ
Bal `Ajib ta Wa Yaskh arū na
Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Qur'ān). (As-Saffat 37:12)
بَلْ عَجِبْ تَ وَيَسْخَ رُونَ
Wa 'Idh ā Dh ukkirū Lā Yadh kurū na
And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. (As-Saffat 37:13)
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لاَ يَذْكُرُونَ
Wa 'Idh ā Ra 'aw 'Āyatan Yastaskh irū na
And when they see an Ayāh (a sign, a proof, or an evidence) from Allāh, they mock at it. (As-Saffat 37:14)
وَإِذَا رَ أَوْا آيَة ً يَسْتَسْخِ رُونَ
Wa Q ālū 'In Hādh ā 'Illā Siĥru n Mubī nun
And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! (As-Saffat 37:15)
وَقَ الُو ا إِن ْ هَذَا إِلاَّ سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ
'A'idh ā Mitnā Wa Kunn ā Turā bāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'inn ā Lamab `ūth ū na
"When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? (As-Saffat 37:16)
أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّ ا تُرَ ابا ً وَعِظَ اماً أَئِنَّ ا لَمَبْ عُوثُونَ
'Awa'ā bā 'uunā A l-'Awwalū na
"And also our fathers of old?" (As-Saffat 37:17)
أَوَآبَا ؤُنَا ا لأَوَّلُونَ
Q ul Na`am Wa 'An tum Dākh irū na
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Yes, and you shall then be humiliated." (As-Saffat 37:18)
قُ لْ نَعَمْ وَأَنْ تُمْ دَاخِ رُونَ
Fa'inn amā Hiya Zaj ra tun Wāĥidatun Fa'idh ā Hum Yan žurū na
It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! (As-Saffat 37:19)
فَإِنَّ مَا هِيَ زَجْ رَ ةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَن ظُ رُونَ
Wa Q ālū Yā Waylanā Hādh ā Yaw mu A d-Dī ni
They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" (As-Saffat 37:20)
وَقَ الُوا يَاوَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْ مُ ا ل دِّينِ
Hādh ā Yaw mu A l-Faş li A l-Ladh ī Kun tum Bihi Tukadh dh ibū na
(It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." (As-Saffat 37:21)
هَذَا يَوْ مُ ا لْفَصْ لِ ا لَّذِي كُن تُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
A ĥsh urū A l-Ladh ī na Ž alamū Wa 'Azwājahum Wa Mā Kānū Ya`budū na
(It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. (As-Saffat 37:22)
ا حْشُرُوا ا لَّذِي نَ ظَ لَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ
Min Dū ni A ll ā hi Fāhdūhum 'Ilá Ş ir ā ţ i A l-Jaĥī mi
"Instead of Allāh, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); (As-Saffat 37:23)
مِن ْ دُو نِ ا للَّ هِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِ رَ ا طِ ا لْجَحِيمِ
Wa Q ifūhum ۖ 'Inn ahum Mas'ū lū na
"But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. (As-Saffat 37:24)
وَقِ فُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هُمْ مَسْئُ ولُونَ
Mā Lakum Lā Tanāş arū na
"What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" (As-Saffat 37:25)
مَا لَكُمْ لاَ تَنَاصَ رُونَ
Bal Humu A l-Yaw ma Mustaslimū na
Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, (As-Saffat 37:26)
بَلْ هُمُ ا لْيَوْ مَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
Wa 'Aq bala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasā 'alū na
And they will turn to one another and question one another. (As-Saffat 37:27)
وَأَقْ بَلَ بَعْضُ هُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ يَتَسَا ءَلُونَ
Q ālū 'Inn akum Kun tum Ta'tūnanā `Ani A l-Yamī ni
They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islāmic Monotheism and from every good deed]." (As-Saffat 37:28)
قَ الُو ا إِنَّ كُمْ كُن تُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ا لْيَمِينِ
Q ālū Bal Lam Takūnū Mu'uminī na
They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. (As-Saffat 37:29)
قَ الُوا بَلْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Mā Kā na Lanā `Alaykum Min Sulţ ā nin ۖ Bal Kun tum Q awmāan Ţ āgh ī na
"And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). (As-Saffat 37:30)
وَمَا كَا نَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِن ْ سُلْطَ ا ن ٍ ۖ بَلْ كُن تُمْ قَ وْما ً طَ اغِ ينَ
Faĥaq q a `Alaynā Q aw lu Ra bbinā ۖ 'Inn ā Ladh ā 'iq ū na
"So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). (As-Saffat 37:31)
فَحَقّ َ عَلَيْنَا قَ وْ لُ رَ بِّنَا ۖ إِنَّ ا لَذَا ئِقُ ونَ
Fa'agh waynākum 'Inn ā Kunn ā Gh āwī na
"So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." (As-Saffat 37:32)
فَأَغْ وَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّ ا كُنَّ ا غَ اوِينَ
Fa'inn ahum Yawma'idh in Fī A l-`Adh ā bi Mush tar ikū na
Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. (As-Saffat 37:33)
فَإِنَّ هُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي ا لْعَذَا بِ مُشْتَر ِكُونَ
'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naf`alu Bil-Muj r imī na
Certainly, that is how We deal with AlMujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allāh, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:34)
إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِا لْمُجْ ر ِمِينَ
'Inn ahum Kānū 'Idh ā Q ī la Lahum Lā 'Ilā ha 'Illā A l-Lahu Yastakbirū na
Truly, when it was said to them: Lā ilāha ill-Allāh "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allāh)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). (As-Saffat 37:35)
إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُو ا إِذَا قِ ي لَ لَهُمْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ ا للَّ هُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Wa Yaq ūlū na 'A'inn ā Latār ikū 'Ālihatinā Lish ā`ir in Maj nū nin
And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our āliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? (As-Saffat 37:36)
وَيَقُ ولُو نَ أَئِنَّ ا لَتَار ِكُو ا آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِر ٍ مَجْ نُونٍ
Bal Jā 'a Bil-Ĥaq q i Wa Ş addaq a A l-Mursalī na
Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allāh's Religion - Islāmic Monotheism and this Qur'ān) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allāh's religion - Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:37)
بَلْ جَا ءَ بِا لْحَقِّ وَصَ دَّقَ ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
'Inn akum Ladh ā 'iq ū A l-`Adh ā bi A l-'Alī mi
Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; (As-Saffat 37:38)
إِنَّ كُمْ لَذَا ئِقُ و ا لْعَذَا بِ ا لأَلِيمِ
Wa Mā Tuj zaw na 'Illā Mā Kun tum Ta`malū na
And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allāh's disobedience which you used to do in this world); (As-Saffat 37:39)
وَمَا تُجْ زَوْ نَ إِلاَّ مَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
'Illā `Ibā da A ll āhi A l-Mukh laş ī na
Save the chosen slaves of Allāh (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:40)
إِلاَّ عِبَا دَ ا للَّ هِ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
'Ūlā 'ika Lahum R izq un Ma`lū mun
For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). (As-Saffat 37:41)
أُ وْلَا ئِكَ لَهُمْ ر ِزْق ٌ مَعْلُومٌ
Fawākihu ۖ Wa Hum Mukra mū na
Fruits; and they shall be honoured, (As-Saffat 37:42)
فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُمْ مُكْرَ مُونَ
Fī Jann ā ti A n -Na`ī mi
In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), (As-Saffat 37:43)
فِي جَنّ َا تِ ا ل نَّ عِيمِ
`Alá Suru r in Mutaq ābilī na
Facing one another on thrones, (As-Saffat 37:44)
عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُتَقَ ابِلِينَ
Yuţ ā fu `Alayhim Bika'sin Min Ma`ī nin
Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; (As-Saffat 37:45)
يُطَ ا فُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْسٍ مِن ْ مَعِينٍ
Bayđā 'a Ladh dh atin Lilsh sh ār ibī na
White, delicious to the drinkers, (As-Saffat 37:46)
بَيْضَ ا ءَ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّار ِبِينَ
Lā Fīhā Gh aw lun Wa Lā Hum `Anhā Yun zafū na
Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. (As-Saffat 37:47)
لاَ فِيهَا غَ وْ لٌ وَلاَ هُمْ عَنْ هَا يُن زَفُونَ
Wa `In dahum Q āş ir ā tu A ţ -Ţ arfi `Ī nun
And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. (As-Saffat 37:48)
وَعِنْ دَهُمْ قَ اصِ رَ ا تُ ا ل طَّ رْفِ عِينٌ
Ka'ann ahunn a Bayđun Maknū nun
(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. (As-Saffat 37:49)
كَأَنَّ هُنّ َ بَيْ ض ٌ مَكْنُونٌ
Fa'aq bala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasā 'alū na
Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. (As-Saffat 37:50)
فَأَقْ بَلَ بَعْضُ هُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ يَتَسَا ءَلُونَ
Q ā la Q ā 'ilun Minhum 'Inn ī Kā na Lī Q ar ī nun
A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), (As-Saffat 37:51)
قَ ا لَ قَ ا ئِلٌ مِنْ هُمْ إِنِّ ي كَا نَ لِي قَ ر ِينٌ
Yaq ū lu 'A'inn aka Lamina A l-Muş addiq ī na
Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). (As-Saffat 37:52)
يَقُ و لُ أَئِنَّ كَ لَمِنَ ا لْمُصَ دِّقِ ينَ
'A'idh ā Mitnā Wa Kunn ā Turā bāan Wa `Ižāmāan 'A'inn ā Lamadīnū na
"(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" (As-Saffat 37:53)
أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّ ا تُرَ ابا ً وَعِظَ اماً أَئِنَّ ا لَمَدِينُونَ
Q ā la Hal 'An tum Muţ ţ ali`ū na
(The man) said: "Will you look down?" (As-Saffat 37:54)
قَ ا لَ هَلْ أَنْ تُمْ مُطَّ لِعُونَ
Fā ţ ţ ala`a Fara 'ā hu Fī Sawā 'i A l-Jaĥī mi
So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. (As-Saffat 37:55)
فَاطَّ لَعَ فَرَ آهُ فِي سَوَا ءِ ا لْجَحِيمِ
Q ā la Ta-Allā hi 'In Kid ta Laturdī ni
He said: "By Allāh! You have nearly ruined me. (As-Saffat 37:56)
قَ ا لَ تَاللَّهِ إِن ْ كِد ْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ
Wa Lawlā Ni`matu Ra bbī Lakun tu Mina A l-Muĥđar ī na
"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." (As-Saffat 37:57)
وَلَوْلاَ نِعْمَةُ رَ بِّي لَكُن تُ مِنَ ا لْمُحْضَ ر ِينَ
'Afamā Naĥnu Bimayyitī na
(Allāh informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? (As-Saffat 37:58)
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
'Illā Mawtatanā A l-'Ūlá Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimu`adh dh abī na
"Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." (As-Saffat 37:59)
إِلاَّ مَوْتَتَنَا ا لأُ ولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
'Inn a Hādh ā Lahuwa A l-Faw zu A l-`Ažī mu
Truly, this is the supreme success! (As-Saffat 37:60)
إِنّ َ هَذَا لَهُوَ ا لْفَوْ زُ ا لْعَظِ يمُ
Limith li Hādh ā Falya`mali A l-`Āmilū na
For the like of this let the workers work. (As-Saffat 37:61)
لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ا لْعَامِلُونَ
'Adh alika Kh ay ru n Nuzulāan 'Am Sh ajara tu A z-Zaq q ū mi
Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqûm (a horrible tree in Hell)? (As-Saffat 37:62)
أَذَلِكَ خَ يْ رٌ نُزُلاً أَمْ شَجَرَ ةُ ا ل زَّقُّ ومِ
'Inn ā Ja`alnāhā Fitnatan Lilžžālimī na
Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zālimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:63)
إِنَّ ا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَة ً لِلظَّ الِمِينَ
'Inn ahā Sh ajara tun Takh ru ju Fī 'Aş li A l-Jaĥī mi
Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, (As-Saffat 37:64)
إِنَّ هَا شَجَرَ ةٌ تَخْ رُجُ فِي أَصْ لِ ا لْجَحِيمِ
Ţ al`uhā Ka'ann ahu Ru 'ū su A sh -Sh ayāţ ī ni
The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayātin (devils); (As-Saffat 37:65)
طَ لْعُهَا كَأَنَّ هُ رُءُو سُ ا ل شَّيَاطِ ينِ
Fa'inn ahum La'ā kilū na Minhā Famāli'ū na Minhā A l-Buţ ū na
Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. (As-Saffat 37:66)
فَإِنَّ هُمْ لَآكِلُو نَ مِنْ هَا فَمَالِئُو نَ مِنْ هَا ا لْبُطُ ونَ
Th umm a 'Inn a Lahum `Alayhā Lash awbāan Min Ĥamī min
Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqûm in their bellies). (As-Saffat 37:67)
ثُمّ َ إِنّ َ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبا ً مِن ْ حَمِيمٍ
Th umm a 'Inn a Marji`ahum La'ilá A l-Jaĥī mi
Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. (As-Saffat 37:68)
ثُمّ َ إِنّ َ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ا لْجَحِيمِ
'Inn ahum 'Alfaw 'Ābā 'ahum Đ ā llī na
Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; (As-Saffat 37:69)
إِنَّ هُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَا ءَهُمْ ضَ ا لِّينَ
Fahum `Alá 'Āth ār ihim Yuhra `ū na
So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! (As-Saffat 37:70)
فَهُمْ عَلَى آثَار ِهِمْ يُهْرَ عُونَ
Wa Laq ad Đ alla Q ab lahum 'Akth aru A l-'Awwalī na
And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; (As-Saffat 37:71)
وَلَقَ د ْ ضَ لَّ قَ بْ لَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Wa Laq ad 'Arsalnā Fīhim Mun dh ir ī na
And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); (As-Saffat 37:72)
وَلَقَ د ْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ مُن ذِر ِينَ
Fān žur Kay fa Kā na `Āq ibatu A l-Mun dh ar ī na
Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). (As-Saffat 37:73)
فَان ظُ رْ كَيْ فَ كَا نَ عَاقِ بَةُ ا لْمُن ذَر ِينَ
'Illā `Ibā da A ll āhi A l-Mukh laş ī na
Except the chosen slaves of Allāh (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islāmic Monotheism). (As-Saffat 37:74)
إِلاَّ عِبَا دَ ا للَّ هِ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
Wa Laq ad Nādānā Nūĥun Falani`ma A l-Mujībū na
And indeed Nûh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). (As-Saffat 37:75)
وَلَقَ د ْ نَادَانَا نُو حٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ا لْمُجِيبُونَ
Wa Najjaynā hu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina A l-Karbi A l-`Ažī mi
And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), (As-Saffat 37:76)
وَنَجَّيْنَا هُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ ا لْكَرْبِ ا لْعَظِ يمِ
Wa Ja`alnā Dh urr īyatahu Humu A l-Bāq ī na
And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). (As-Saffat 37:77)
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ ا لْبَاقِ ينَ
Wa Tara knā `Alay hi Fī A l-'Ākh ir ī na
And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: (As-Saffat 37:78)
وَتَرَ كْنَا عَلَيْ هِ فِي ا لآخِ ر ِينَ
Salā mun `Alá Nūĥin Fī A l-`Ālamī na
Salāmun (peace) be upon Nûh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" (As-Saffat 37:79)
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى نُو حٍ فِي ا لْعَالَمِينَ
'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:80)
إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
'Inn ahu Min `Ibādinā A l-Mu'uminī na
Verily, he [Nûh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:81)
إِنَّ هُ مِن ْ عِبَادِنَا ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Th umm a 'Agh ra q nā A l-'Ākh ar ī na
Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). (As-Saffat 37:82)
ثُمّ َ أَغْ رَ قْ نَا ا لآخَ ر ِينَ
Wa 'Inn a Min Sh ī`atihi La'ib rā hī ma
And, verily, among those who followed his [Nûh's (Noah)] way (Islāmic Monotheism) was Ibrāhim (Abraham). (As-Saffat 37:83)
وَإِنّ َ مِن ْ شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْ رَ اهِيمَ
'Idh Jā 'a Ra bbahu Biq albin Salī min
When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allāh Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allāh Alone true Islāmic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism]. (As-Saffat 37:84)
إِذْ جَا ءَ رَ بَّهُ بِقَ لْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
'Idh Q ā la Li'abī hi Wa Q awmihi Mādh ā Ta`budū na
When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship? (As-Saffat 37:85)
إِذْ قَ ا لَ لِأَبِي هِ وَقَ وْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
'A'ifkāan 'Ālihatan Dū na A ll āhi Tur īdū na
"Is it a falsehood āliha (gods) other than Allāh that you seek? (As-Saffat 37:86)
أَئِفْكا ً آلِهَة ً دُو نَ ا للَّ هِ تُر ِيدُونَ
Famā Ž ann ukum Bira bbi A l-`Ālamī na
"Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" (As-Saffat 37:87)
فَمَا ظَ نُّ كُمْ بِرَ بِّ ا لْعَالَمِينَ
Fanažara Nažra tan Fī A n -Nujū mi
Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them), (As-Saffat 37:88)
فَنَظَ رَ نَظْ رَ ة ً فِي ا ل نُّ جُومِ
Faq ā la 'Inn ī Saq ī mun
And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)." (As-Saffat 37:89)
فَقَ ا لَ إِنِّ ي سَقِ يمٌ
Fatawallaw `Anhu Mud bir ī na
So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). (As-Saffat 37:90)
فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْ هُ مُد ْبِر ِينَ
Farā gh a 'Ilá 'Ālihatihim Faq ā la 'Alā Ta'kulū na
Then he turned to their āliha (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)? (As-Saffat 37:91)
فَرَ ا غَ إِلَى آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَ ا لَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ
Mā Lakum Lā Tan ţ iq ū na
"What is the matter with you that you speak not?" (As-Saffat 37:92)
مَا لَكُمْ لاَ تَن طِ قُ ونَ
Farā gh a `Alayhim Đ arbāan Bil-Yamī ni
Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. (As-Saffat 37:93)
فَرَ ا غَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَ رْبا ً بِا لْيَمِينِ
Fa'aq balū 'Ilay hi Yaziffū na
Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening. (As-Saffat 37:94)
فَأَقْ بَلُو ا إِلَيْ هِ يَزِفُّونَ
Q ā la 'Ata`budū na Mā Tanĥitū na
He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? (As-Saffat 37:95)
قَ ا لَ أَتَعْبُدُو نَ مَا تَنْ حِتُونَ
Wa A ll āhu Kh alaq akum Wa Mā Ta`malū na
"While Allāh has created you and what you make!" (As-Saffat 37:96)
وَا للَّ هُ خَ لَقَ كُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Q ālū A b nū Lahu Bun yānāan Fa'alq ū hu Fī A l-Jaĥī mi
They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" (As-Saffat 37:97)
قَ الُوا ا بْ نُوا لَهُ بُنْ يَانا ً فَأَلْقُ و هُ فِي ا لْجَحِيمِ
Fa'arā dū Bihi Kaydāan Faja`alnāhumu A l-'Asfalī na
So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. (As-Saffat 37:98)
فَأَرَ ادُوا بِهِ كَيْدا ً فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ ا لأَسْفَلِينَ
Wa Q ā la 'Inn ī Dh āhibun 'Ilá Ra bbī Sayahdī ni
And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" (As-Saffat 37:99)
وَقَ ا لَ إِنِّ ي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى رَ بِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
Ra bbi Hab Lī Mina A ş -Ş āliĥī na
"My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." (As-Saffat 37:100)
رَ بِّ هَب ْ لِي مِنَ ا ل صَّ الِحِينَ
Fabash sh arnā hu Bigh ulā min Ĥalī min
So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. (As-Saffat 37:101)
فَبَشَّرْنَا هُ بِغُ لاَمٍ حَلِيمٍ
Falamm ā Balagh a Ma`ahu A s-Sa`ya Q ā la Yā Bunay ya 'Inn ī 'Ará Fī A l-Manā mi 'Ann ī 'Adh baĥuka Fān žur Mādh ā Tará ۚ Q ā la Yā 'Abati A f`al Mā Tu'umaru ۖ Satajidunī 'In Sh ā 'a A ll āhu Mina A ş -Ş ābir ī na
And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allāh), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshā' Allāh (if Allāh will), you shall find me of As-Sābirin (the patient ones, etc.)." (As-Saffat 37:102)
فَلَمَّ ا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ا ل سَّعْيَ قَ ا لَ يَابُنَيَّ إِنِّ ي أَرَ ى فِي ا لْمَنَا مِ أَنِّ ي أَذْبَحُكَ فَان ظُ رْ مَاذَا تَرَ ى قَ ا لَ ۚ يَا أَبَتِ ا فْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِي ۖ إِن ْ شَا ءَ ا للَّ هُ مِنَ ا ل صَّ ابِر ِينَ
Falamm ā 'Aslamā Wa Tallahu Liljabī ni
Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allāh), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); (As-Saffat 37:103)
فَلَمَّ ا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ
Wa Nādaynā hu 'An Yā 'Ib rā hī mu
And We called out to him: "O Abraham! (As-Saffat 37:104)
وَنَادَيْنَا هُ أَن ْ يَا إِبْ رَ اهِيمُ
Q ad Ş addaq ta A r-Ru 'uyā ۚ 'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:105)
قَ د صَ دَّقْ تَ ا ل رُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
'Inn a Hādh ā Lahuwa A l-Balā 'u A l-Mubī nu
Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial (As-Saffat 37:106)
إِنّ َ هَذَا لَهُوَ ا لْبَلاَءُ ا لْمُبِينُ
Wa Fadaynā hu Bidh ib ĥin `Ažī min
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. - a ram); (As-Saffat 37:107)
وَفَدَيْنَا هُ بِذِبْ حٍ عَظِ يمٍ
Wa Tara knā `Alay hi Fī A l-'Ākh ir ī na
And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. (As-Saffat 37:108)
وَتَرَ كْنَا عَلَيْ هِ فِي ا لآخِ ر ِينَ
Salā mun `Alá 'Ib rā hī ma
Salāmun (peace) be upon Ibrāhim (Abraham)!" (As-Saffat 37:109)
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِبْ رَ اهِيمَ
Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:110)
كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
'Inn ahu Min `Ibādinā A l-Mu'uminī na
Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:111)
إِنَّ هُ مِن ْ عِبَادِنَا ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Bash sh arnā hu Bi'isĥā q a Nabīyāan Mina A ş -Ş āliĥī na
And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishāque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. (As-Saffat 37:112)
وَبَشَّرْنَا هُ بِإِسْحَا قَ نَبِيّا ً مِنَ ا ل صَّ الِحِينَ
Wa Bāra knā `Alay hi Wa `Alá 'Isĥā q a ۚ Wa Min Dh urr īyatihimā Muĥsinun Wa Ž ālimun Linafsihi Mubī nun
We blessed him and Ishāque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. (As-Saffat 37:113)
وَبَارَ كْنَا عَلَيْ هِ وَعَلَى إِسْحَا قَ ۚ وَمِن ْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَ الِم ٌ لِنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ
Wa Laq ad Manann ā `Alá Mūsá Wa Hārū na
And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Mûsa (Moses) and Hārûn (Aaron). (As-Saffat 37:114)
وَلَقَ د ْ مَنَنَّ ا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ
Wa Najjaynāhumā Wa Q awmahumā Mina A l-Karbi A l-`Ažī mi
And We saved them and their people from the great distress; (As-Saffat 37:115)
وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَ وْمَهُمَا مِنَ ا لْكَرْبِ ا لْعَظِ يمِ
Wa Naş arnāhum Fakānū Humu A l-Gh ālibī na
And helped them, so that they became the victors; (As-Saffat 37:116)
وَنَصَ رْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ ا لْغَ الِبِينَ
Wa 'Ātaynāhumā A l-Kitā ba A l-Mustabī na
And We gave them the clear Scripture; (As-Saffat 37:117)
وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا ا لْكِتَا بَ ا لْمُسْتَبِينَ
Wa Hadaynāhumā A ş -Ş ir ā ţ a A l-Mustaq ī ma
And guided them to the Right Path; (As-Saffat 37:118)
وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا ا ل صِّ رَ ا طَ ا لْمُسْتَقِ يمَ
Wa Tara knā `Alayhimā Fī A l-'Ākh ir ī na
And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; (As-Saffat 37:119)
وَتَرَ كْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي ا لآخِ ر ِينَ
Salā mun `Alá Mūsá Wa Hārū na
Salāmun (peace) be upon Mûsa (Moses) and Hārûn (Aaron)!" (As-Saffat 37:120)
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ
'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:121)
إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
'Inn ahumā Min `Ibādinā A l-Mu'uminī na
Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:122)
إِنَّ هُمَا مِن ْ عِبَادِنَا ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa 'Inn a 'Ilyā sa Lamina A l-Mursalī na
And verily, Iliyās (Elias) was one of the Messengers. (As-Saffat 37:123)
وَإِنّ َ إِلْيَا سَ لَمِنَ ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
'Idh Q ā la Liq awmihi~ 'Alā Tattaq ū na
When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allāh? (As-Saffat 37:124)
إِذْ قَ ا لَ لِقَ وْمِهِ~ ِ أَلاَ تَتَّقُ ونَ
'Atad `ū na Ba`lāan Wa Tadh arū na 'Aĥsana A l-Kh āliq ī na
"Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators, (As-Saffat 37:125)
أَتَد ْعُو نَ بَعْلا ً وَتَذَرُو نَ أَحْسَنَ ا لْخَ الِقِ ينَ
Al-Laha Ra bbakum Wa Ra bba 'Ābā 'ikumu A l-'Awwalī na
"Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?" (As-Saffat 37:126)
ا للَّهَ رَ بَّكُمْ وَرَ بَّ آبَا ئِكُمُ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Fakadh dh abū hu Fa'inn ahum Lamuĥđarū na
But they denied him [Iliyās (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment), (As-Saffat 37:127)
فَكَذَّبُو هُ فَإِنَّ هُمْ لَمُحْضَ رُونَ
'Illā `Ibā da A ll āhi A l-Mukh laş ī na
Except the chosen slaves of Allāh. (As-Saffat 37:128)
إِلاَّ عِبَا دَ ا للَّ هِ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
Wa Tara knā `Alay hi Fī A l-'Ākh ir ī na
And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; (As-Saffat 37:129)
وَتَرَ كْنَا عَلَيْ هِ فِي ا لآخِ ر ِينَ
Salā mun `Alá 'Il Yā -Sīn
Salāmun (peace) be upon Ilyāsīn (Elias)!" (As-Saffat 37:130)
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِلْ يَا-سِين
'Inn ā Kadh ālika Naj zī A l-Muĥsinī na
Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allāh's sake only - see V.2:112). (As-Saffat 37:131)
إِنَّ ا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي ا لْمُحْسِنِينَ
'Inn ahu Min `Ibādinā A l-Mu'uminī na
Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. (As-Saffat 37:132)
إِنَّ هُ مِن ْ عِبَادِنَا ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa 'Inn a Lūţ āan Lamina A l-Mursalī na
And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers. (As-Saffat 37:133)
وَإِنّ َ لُوط ا ً لَمِنَ ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
'Idh Najjaynā hu Wa 'Ahlahu~ 'Aj ma`ī na
When We saved him and his family, all, (As-Saffat 37:134)
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَا هُ وَأَهْلَهُ~ ُ أَجْ مَعِينَ
'Illā `Ajūzāan Fī A l-Gh ābir ī na
Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind. (As-Saffat 37:135)
إِلاَّ عَجُوزا ً فِي ا لْغَ ابِر ِينَ
Th umm a Damm arnā A l-'Ākh ar ī na
Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathīr]. (As-Saffat 37:136)
ثُمّ َ دَمَّ رْنَا ا لآخَ ر ِينَ
Wa 'Inn akum Latamurrū na `Alayhim Muş biĥī na
Verily, you pass by them in the morning. (As-Saffat 37:137)
وَإِنَّ كُمْ لَتَمُرُّو نَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُصْ بِحِينَ
Wa Bil-Lay li ۗ 'Afalā Ta`q ilū na
And at night; will you not then reflect? (As-Saffat 37:138)
وَبِاللَّيْ لِ ۗ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِ لُونَ
Wa 'Inn a Yūnis Lamina A l-Mursalī na
And, verily, Yûnus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. (As-Saffat 37:139)
وَإِنّ َ يُونِس لَمِنَ ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
'Idh 'Abaq a 'Ilá A l-Fulki A l-Mash ĥū ni
When he ran to the laden ship, (As-Saffat 37:140)
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ا لْفُلْكِ ا لْمَشْحُونِ
Fasāhama Fakā na Mina A l-Mud ĥađī na
He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, (As-Saffat 37:141)
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَا نَ مِنَ ا لْمُد ْحَضِ ينَ
Fāltaq amahu A l-Ĥū tu Wa Huwa Mulī mun
Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. (As-Saffat 37:142)
فَالْتَقَ مَهُ ا لْحُو تُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
Falawlā 'Ann ahu Kā na Mina A l-Musabbiĥī na
Had he not been of them who glorify Allāh, (As-Saffat 37:143)
فَلَوْلاَ أَنَّ هُ كَا نَ مِنَ ا لْمُسَبِّحِينَ
Lalabith a Fī Baţ nihi~ 'Ilá Yaw mi Yub `ath ū na
He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. (As-Saffat 37:144)
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْ نِهِ إِلَى يَوْ مِ يُبْ عَثُونَ
Fanabadh nā hu Bil-`Arā 'i Wa Huwa Saq ī mun
But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, (As-Saffat 37:145)
فَنَبَذْنَا هُ بِا لْعَرَا ءِ وَهُوَ سَقِ يمٌ
Wa 'An batnā `Alay hi Sh ajara tan Min Yaq ţ ī nin
And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. (As-Saffat 37:146)
وَأَنْ بَتْنَا عَلَيْ هِ شَجَرَ ة ً مِن ْ يَقْ طِ ينٍ
Wa 'Arsalnā hu 'Ilá Miā 'ati 'Alfin 'Aw Yazīdū na
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. (As-Saffat 37:147)
وَأَرْسَلْنَا هُ إِلَى مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
Fa'ā manū Famatta`nāhum 'Ilá Ĥī nin
And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. (As-Saffat 37:148)
فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَى حِينٍ
Fāstaftihim 'Alira bbika A l-Banā tu Wa Lahumu A l-Banū na
Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" (As-Saffat 37:149)
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَ بِّكَ ا لْبَنَا تُ وَلَهُمُ ا لْبَنُونَ
'Am Kh alaq nā A l-Malā 'ikata 'Ināth āan Wa Hum Sh āhidū na
Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? (As-Saffat 37:150)
أَمْ خَ لَقْ نَا ا لْمَلاَئِكَةَ إِنَاثا ً وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ
'Alā 'Inn ahum Min 'Ifkihim Layaq ūlū na
Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: (As-Saffat 37:151)
أَلاَ إِنَّ هُمْ مِن ْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُ ولُونَ
Walada A ll āhu Wa 'Inn ahum Lakādh ibū na
"Allāh has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allāh)?" And, verily, they are liars! (As-Saffat 37:152)
وَلَدَ ا للَّ هُ وَإِنَّ هُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
'Ā ş ţ afá A l-Banā ti `Alá A l-Banī na
Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? (As-Saffat 37:153)
أَ اصْ طَ فَى ا لْبَنَا تِ عَلَى ا لْبَنِينَ
Mā Lakum Kay fa Taĥkumū na
What is the matter with you? How do you decide? (As-Saffat 37:154)
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْ فَ تَحْكُمُونَ
'Afalā Tadh akkarūn
Will you not then remember? (As-Saffat 37:155)
أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُون
'Am Lakum Sulţ ā nun Mubī nun
Or is there for you a plain authority? (As-Saffat 37:156)
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَ ا نٌ مُبِينٌ
Fa'tū Bikitābikum 'In Kun tum Ş ādiq ī na
Then bring your Book if you are truthful! (As-Saffat 37:157)
فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِن ْ كُن تُمْ صَ ادِقِ ينَ
Wa Ja`alū Baynahu Wa Bay na A l-Jinn ati Nasabāan ۚ Wa Laq ad `Alimati A l-Jinn atu 'Inn ahum Lamuĥđarū na
And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). (As-Saffat 37:158)
وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْ نَ ا لْجِنَّ ةِ نَسَبا ً ۚ وَلَقَ د ْ عَلِمَتِ ا لْجِنَّ ةُ إِنَّ هُمْ لَمُحْضَ رُونَ
Sub ĥā na A ll āhi `Amm ā Yaş ifū na
Glorified is Allāh! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! (As-Saffat 37:159)
سُبْ حَا نَ ا للَّ هِ عَمَّ ا يَصِ فُونَ
'Illā `Ibā da A ll āhi A l-Mukh laş ī na
Except the slaves of Allāh, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islāmic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allāh). (As-Saffat 37:160)
إِلاَّ عِبَا دَ ا للَّ هِ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
Fa'inn akum Wa Mā Ta`budū na
So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). (As-Saffat 37:161)
فَإِنَّ كُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Mā 'An tum `Alay hi Bifātinī na
Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allāh) anyone of the believers], (As-Saffat 37:162)
مَا أَنْ تُمْ عَلَيْ هِ بِفَاتِنِينَ
'Illā Man Huwa Ş ālī A l-Jaĥī mi
Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! (As-Saffat 37:163)
إِلاَّ مَن ْ هُوَ صَ الِي ا لْجَحِيمِ
Wa Mā Minn ā 'Illā Lahu Maq ā mun Ma`lū mun
There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); (As-Saffat 37:164)
وَمَا مِنَّ ا إِلاَّ لَهُ مَقَ ا مٌ مَعْلُومٌ
Wa 'Inn ā Lanaĥnu A ş -Ş ā ffū na
Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); (As-Saffat 37:165)
وَإِنَّ ا لَنَحْنُ ا ل صَّ ا فُّونَ
Wa 'Inn ā Lanaĥnu A l-Musabbiĥū na
Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allāh's Praises i.e. perform prayers). (As-Saffat 37:166)
وَإِنَّ ا لَنَحْنُ ا لْمُسَبِّحُونَ
Wa 'In Kānū Layaq ūlū na
And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; (As-Saffat 37:167)
وَإِن ْ كَانُوا لَيَقُ ولُونَ
Law 'Ann a `In danā Dh ikrā an Mina A l-'Awwalī na
"If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allāh). (As-Saffat 37:168)
لَوْ أَنّ َ عِنْ دَنَا ذِكْرا ً مِنَ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Lakunn ā `Ibā da A ll āhi A l-Mukh laş ī na
"We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allāh (true believers of Islāmic Monotheism)!" (As-Saffat 37:169)
لَكُنَّ ا عِبَا دَ ا للَّ هِ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
Fakafarū Bihi ۖ Fasaw fa Ya`lamū na
But (now that the Qur'ān has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Qur'ān and in Prophet Muhammad SAW , and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! (As-Saffat 37:170)
فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْ فَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Laq ad Sabaq at Kalimatunā Li`ibādinā A l-Mursalīn
And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, (As-Saffat 37:171)
وَلَقَ د ْ سَبَقَ تْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ا لْمُرْسَلِين
'Inn ahum Lahumu A l-Man ş ūrū na
That they verily would be made triumphant. (As-Saffat 37:172)
إِنَّ هُمْ لَهُمُ ا لْمَن صُ ورُونَ
Wa 'Inn a Jun danā Lahumu A l-Gh ālibū na
And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. (As-Saffat 37:173)
وَإِنّ َ جُن دَنَا لَهُمُ ا لْغَ الِبُونَ
Fatawalla `Anhum Ĥattá Ĥī nin
So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, (As-Saffat 37:174)
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْ هُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ
Wa 'Ab ş ir hum Fasaw fa Yub ş irū na
And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! (As-Saffat 37:175)
وَأَبْ صِ ر ْهُمْ فَسَوْ فَ يُبْ صِ رُونَ
'Afabi`adh ābinā Yasta`jilū na
Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? (As-Saffat 37:176)
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
Fa'idh ā Nazala Bisāĥatihim Fasā 'a Ş abā ĥu A l-Mun dh ar ī na
Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! (As-Saffat 37:177)
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَا ءَ صَ بَا حُ ا لْمُن ذَر ِينَ
Wa Tawalla `Anhum Ĥattá Ĥī nin
So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, (As-Saffat 37:178)
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْ هُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ
Wa 'Ab ş ir Fasaw fa Yub ş irū na
And watch and they shall see (the torment)! (As-Saffat 37:179)
وَأَبْ صِ ر ْ فَسَوْ فَ يُبْ صِ رُونَ
Sub ĥā na Ra bbika Ra bbi A l-`Izzati `Amm ā Yaş ifū na
Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! (As-Saffat 37:180)
سُبْ حَا نَ رَ بِّكَ رَ بِّ ا لْعِزَّةِ عَمَّ ا يَصِ فُونَ
Wa Salā mun `Alá A l-Mursalī na
And peace be on the Messengers! (As-Saffat 37:181)
وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَى ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
Wa A l-Ĥam du Lill ā h Ra bbi A l-`Ālamī na
And all the praise and thanks be to Allāh, Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (As-Saffat 37:182)
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَ بِّ ا لْعَالَمِينَ
