91) Sūrat Ash-Shams

91) سُورَة الشَّمس

Wa Ash-Shamsi Wa Đuĥāhā َ091-001 I call to witness the sun and its light and heat, وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا
Wa Al-Qamari 'Idhā Talāhā َ091-002 And the moon when it borrows light from it (- the sun), وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلاَهَا
Wa An-Nahāri 'Idhā Jallāhā َ091-003 And the day when it reveals its (- the sun´s) glory, وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلاَّهَا
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā Yaghshāhā َ091-004 And the night when it draws a veil over it, وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا
Wa As-Samā'i Wa Mā Banāhā َ091-005 And the heaven and That (Great Omnifice Divinity) Who made it, وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا
Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Ţaĥāhā َ091-006 And the earth and That (Great Being) Who expanded it, وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا
Wa Nafsin Wa Mā Sawwāhā َ091-007 And the (human) soul and That (Mighty Lord) Who made it perfect, وَنَفْس ٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا
Fa'alhamahā Fujūrahā Wa Taqwāhā َ091-008 Then He revealed to it (- the soul, the ways of) its evil and its righteousness, فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا
Qad 'Aflaĥa Man Zakkāhā َ091-009 (All these are cited to witness that) one who purifies it (- his soul), certainly succeeds, قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا
Wa Qad Khāba Man Dassāhā َ091-010 And he indeed is ruined who corrupts it. وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا
Kadhdhabat Thamūdu Biţaghwāhā َ091-011 (The tribe of) Thamûd belied (Sâlih,) because of their rebelliousness. كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا
'Idhi Anba`atha 'Ashqāhā َ091-012 (It was) when the wretched-most among them arose, إِذِ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا
Faqāla Lahum Rasūlu Al-Lahi Nāqata Al-Lahi Wa Suqyāhā َ091-013 And Allâh´s Messenger said to them, `(Do not interfere with) the she-camel (- a symbol appointed by the command) of Allâh and (do not obstruct) her (from) watering.´ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا
Fakadhdhabūhu Fa`aqarūhā Fadamdama `Alayhim Rabbuhum Bidhanbihim Fasawwāhā َ091-014 But they belied (and disobeyed) him and hamstrung her. Then their Lord destroyed them completely for their sin, so much so that He leveled them (all to the ground). فَكَذَّبُوه ُُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا
Wa Lā Yakhāfu `Uqbāhā َ091-015 And He did not care at all for their end (as to what an utterly miserable state they were reduced). وَلاَ يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا
