Wa Al-Fajri | َ089-001 I call to witness (all the times and places specially important for the acceptance of prayers including) the dawn (of the twentieth of Ramadzân), | وَالْفَجْرِ |
Wa Layālin `Ashrin | َ089-002 And the (last) ten Nights (of Ramadzân), | وَلَيَالٍ عَشْر ٍ |
Wa Ash-Shaf`i Wa Al-Watri | َ089-003 And (the Prayers which consist of) the even and odd (number of Rak`ats performed during these nights). | وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ |
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā Yasri | َ089-004 And the Night (- Lailatul-Qadr, the Blessed Night), when it moves on (to its close). | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ |
Hal Fī Dhālika Qasamun Lidhī Ĥijrin | َ089-005 In it there is surely a strong evidence for one who has sense and understanding. | هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَم ٌ لِذِي حِجْر ٍ |
'Alam Tara Kayfa Fa`ala Rabbuka Bi`ādin | َ089-006 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with `âd | أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَاد ٍ |
'Irama Dhāti Al-`Imādi | َ089-007 Of Iram, possessors of tall statures and lofty columns, | إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ |
Allatī Lam Yukhlaq Mithluhā Fī Al-Bilādi | َ089-008 The like of whom have not been created in these parts of land? | الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلاَدِ |
Wa Thamūda Al-Ladhīna Jābū Aş-Şakhra Bil-Wādi | َ089-009 And (how He dealt with the tribe of) Thamûd who hewed out huge rocks in the valley (to make their housings)? | وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ |
Wa Fir`awna Dhī Al-'Awtādi | َ089-010 And (how He dealt with) Pharaoh, lord of vast hosts? | وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الأَوْتَادِ |
Al-Ladhīna Ţaghaw Fī Al-Bilādi | َ089-011 (All these people were) those who committed (all sort of) excesses in the cities, | الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلاَدِ |
Fa'aktharū Fīhā Al-Fasāda | َ089-012 And they spread a lot of corruption and lawlessness therein, | فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ |
Faşabba `Alayhim Rabbuka Sawţa `Adhābin | َ089-013 (So much) so that your Lord let loose on them the scourge and various kinds of punishments. | فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَاب ٍ |
'Inna Rabbaka Labiālmirşādi | َ089-014 Behold! your God is always on the watch. | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ |
Fa'ammā Al-'Insānu 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Rabbuhu Fa'akramahu Wa Na``amahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Akramani | َ089-015 Moreover a human being is such that when his Lord disciplines him (by prosperity) and (thus) honours him and bestows favours on him, he says, `My Lord has honoured me.´ | فَأَمَّا الإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ فَأَكْرَمَه ُُ وَنَعَّمَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ |
Wa 'Ammā 'Idhā Mā Abtalāhu Faqadara `Alayhi Rizqahu Fayaqūlu Rabbī 'Ahānani | َ089-016 And when He disciplines him (with affliction) and (thus) straitens for him his (means of) subsistence, he says, `My Lord has (for no reason) disgraced me.´ | وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاَه ُُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَه ُُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ |
Kallā ۖ Bal Lā Tukrimūna Al-Yatīma | َ089-017 Nay, (what you think is wrong,) but (the reason for this degradation is that) you (for your part) do not honour the orphan, | كَلاَّ ۖ بَل لاَ تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ |
Wa Lā Taĥāđđūna `Alá Ţa`āmi Al-Miskīni | َ089-018 And you do not urge one another to feed the poor, | وَلاَ تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ |
Wa Ta'kulūna At-Turātha 'Aklāan Lammāan | َ089-019 And you devour the heritage (of others) wholly and indiscriminately, | وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلا ً لَمّا ً |
Wa Tuĥibbūna Al-Māla Ĥubbāan Jammāan | َ089-020 And you are exceedingly fond of wealth. | وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبّا ً جَمّا ً |
Kallā 'Idhā Dukkati Al-'Arđu Dakkāan Dakkāan | َ089-021 By no means (will it be so as you think). When the earth is completely crushed into pieces, | كَلاَّ إِذَا دُكَّتِ الأَرْضُ دَكّا ً دَكّا ً |
Wa Jā'a Rabbuka Wa Al-Malaku Şaffāan Şaffāan | َ089-022 And when (the judgment of) your Lord comes (to pass), and the angels (descend also) ranged rank on rank (to execute His decree), | وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفّا ً صَفّا ً |
Wa Jī'a Yawma'idhin Bijahannama ۚ Yawma'idhin Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Wa 'Anná Lahu Adh-Dhikrá | َ089-023 On that Day Gehenna shall be brought near. (It is) on that very Day that a person will remember (the admonition), but of what avail shall that remembrance be to him (at that time)? | وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى |
Yaqūlu Yā Laytanī Qaddamtu Liĥayātī | َ089-024 He will say, `O would that I had sent forward (some good deeds as a provision) for this my life here (on this side).´ | يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي |
Fayawma'idhin Lā Yu`adhdhibu `Adhābahu 'Aĥadun | َ089-025 So on that day none but He shall execute His punishment, | فَيَوْمَئِذ ٍ لاَ يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ |
Wa Lā Yūthiqu Wathāqahu 'Aĥadun | َ089-026 And no one but He shall bind like His binding. | وَلاَ يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ |
Yā 'Ayyatuhā An-Nafsu Al-Muţma'innahu | َ089-027 (As for the person who has been blessed with a contented and peaceful mind He will say to him,) `O you soul at peace! | يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ |
Arji`ī 'Ilá Rabbiki Rāđiyatan Marđīyahan | َ089-028 `Come back to your Lord well-pleased with Him and He well-pleased with you. | ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَة ً مَرْضِيَّة ً |
Fādkhulī Fī `Ibādī | َ089-029 `Enter the fold of My chosen servants, | فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي |
Wa Adkhulī Jannatī | َ089-030 `And enter the Garden made by Me.´ | وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي |
