Waylun Lilmuţaffifīna | َ083-001 Woe be to those who make a default in any of their duties and give short measure. | وَيْل ٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ |
Al-Ladhīna 'Idhā Aktālū `Alá An-Nāsi Yastawfūna | َ083-002 When they receive measure from other people they receive in full (not allowing the least shortage and loss), | الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Kālūhum 'Aw Wazanūhum Yukhsirūna | َ083-003 But when they give by measure to others or weigh to them they give them less (than what is due). | وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ |
'Alā Yažunnu 'Ūla'ika 'Annahum Mab`ūthūna | َ083-004 Do not such people realize that they will be raised (to life again), | أَلاَ يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ |
Liyawmin `Ažīmin | َ083-005 To face (and hear the Judgment of) that Great Day? | لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيم ٍ |
Yawma Yaqūmu An-Nāsu Lirabbi Al-`Ālamīna | َ083-006 The Day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? | يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-Fujjāri Lafī Sijjīnin | َ083-007 Nay, (not at all as they believe) the record of (the deeds) of the wicked is in Sijjîn (- the register of a prison) | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّين ٍ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Sijjīnun | َ083-008 What should make you know what that Sijjîn is? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّين ٌ |
Kitābun Marqūmun | َ083-009 (It is) a book written (distinctly and comprehensively). | كِتَاب ٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
Waylun Yawma'idhin Lilmukadhdhibīna | َ083-010 On that Day woe shall befall those who belie (the truth); | وَيْل ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
Al-Ladhīna Yukadhdhibūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni | َ083-011 Those that belie the Day of Requital. | الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ |
Wa Mā Yukadhdhibu Bihi 'Illā Kullu Mu`tadin 'Athīmin | َ083-012 No one can treat it as a lie except every sinful transgressor, | وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيم ٍ |
'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna | َ083-013 (Who) when Our Messages are recited to him says, `(These are) mere fables of the ancients.´ | إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ |
Kallā ۖ Bal ۜ Rāna `Alá Qulūbihim Mā Kānū Yaksibūna | َ083-014 Nay (not at all so), the truth is that their (evil) deeds have rusted their hearts. | كَلاَّ ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
Kallā 'Innahum `An Rabbihim Yawma'idhin Lamaĥjūbūna | َ083-015 Nay (We repeat, not at all so). Verily, they shall be debarred from (the sight and mercy of) their Lord that day. | كَلاَّ إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ |
Thumma 'Innahum Laşālū Al-Jaĥīmi | َ083-016 Then they shall surely enter into the flaming Fire, | ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِيمِ |
Thumma Yuqālu Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna | َ083-017 Then it shall be said (to them), `This is that (very punishment) which you used to cry lies to.´ | ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-'Abrāri Lafī `Illīyīna | َ083-018 Behold! verily the record (of the righteous deeds) of the virtuous will be in `Illîyyîn (- the register of those enjoying the most exalted ranks). | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā `Illīyūna | َ083-019 And what should make you know what `Illîyyûn is? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ |
Kitābun Marqūmun | َ083-020 It is a book (distinctly and comprehensively) written, | كِتَاب ٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
Yash/haduhu Al-Muqarrabūna | َ083-021 Which those drawn near (to their Lord) will find present. | يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
'Inna Al-'Abrāra Lafī Na`īmin | َ083-022 The virtuous shall indeed be in (a state of) bliss (that Day). | إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيم ٍ |
`Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna | َ083-023 (Reclining) upon raised couches they shall be looking (at every thing all around). | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
Ta`rifu Fī Wujūhihim Nađrata An-Na`īmi | َ083-024 You shall find freshness and bloom of bliss in their faces. | تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ |
Yusqawna Min Raĥīqin Makhtūmin | َ083-025 They shall be given to drink a pure and delightfully refreshing beverage sealed (and secure from all contamination). | يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيق ٍ مَخْتُوم ٍ |
Khitāmuhu Miskun ۚ Wa Fī Dhālika Falyatanāfasi Al-Mutanāfisūna | َ083-026 (Even) the sealing and dregs of which will have flavour of musk, so to this (noble end) let (all) the aspirants aspire. | خِتَامُه ُُ مِسْك ٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ |
Wa Mizājuhu Min Tasnīmin | َ083-027 And this (beverage) will be tempered with Tasnîm (flowing from on high). | وَمِزَاجُه ُُ مِنْ تَسْنِيم ٍ |
`Aynāan Yashrabu Bihā Al-Muqarrabūna | َ083-028 (This Tasnîm is) a spring of which those drawn near (to God) shall drink. | عَيْنا ً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Ajramū Kānū Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Yađĥakūna | َ083-029 Those who had severed their ties (with God) used to laugh at those who believed, | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Marrū Bihim Yataghāmazūna | َ083-030 And when they passed by them (- the believers) they winked at one another (by way of ridiculously finding fault with them), | وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Anqalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihimu Anqalabū Fakihīna | َ083-031 And when they returned to their companions they returned exulting with pride, | وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ |
Wa 'Idhā Ra'awhum Qālū 'Inna Hā'uulā' Lađāllūna | َ083-032 And when they saw these (Muslims) they said, `These are surely the straying ones!´ | وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء لَضَالُّونَ |
Wa Mā 'Ursilū `Alayhim Ĥāfižīna | َ083-033 Though they were not deputed as guardians (to guard) over them. | وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ |
Fālyawma Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Mina Al-Kuffāri Yađĥakūna | َ083-034 Now, on this day (of Judgment) it is the believers who will wonder at the disbelievers, | فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ |
`Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna | َ083-035 (Seated) on raised couches of (dignity). They (- the believers) will be looking (at the miserable state of the disbelievers in Gehenna). | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
Hal Thūwiba Al-Kuffāru Mā Kānū Yaf`alūna | َ083-036 (Then it shall be said,) `The disbelievers have been duly requitted for (the misdeeds) that they used to do.´ | هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ |
