'Idhā Ash-Shamsu Kūwirat | َ081-001 When the sun be folded up and so darkened, | إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā An-Nujūmu Ankadarat | َ081-002 And when the stars are obscured, | وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jibālu Suyyirat | َ081-003 And when the mountains are made to pass away, | وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-`Ishāru `Uţţilat | َ081-004 And when the excellent she-camels will be discarded, | وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Wuĥūshu Ĥushirat | َ081-005 And when the wild beast will be herded together, | وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Biĥāru Sujjirat | َ081-006 And when the rivers will be drained away, | وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā An-Nufūsu Zūwijat | َ081-007 And when (various) people will be united together, | وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Maw'ūdatu Su'ilat | َ081-008 And when the girl-child who is buried alive will be questioned about; | وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ |
Bi'ayyi Dhanbin Qutilat | َ081-009 For what offence was she killed? | بِأَيِّ ذَنْب ٍ قُتِلَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Aş-Şuĥufu Nushirat | َ081-010 And when books and papers will be spread abroad, | وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā As-Samā'u Kushiţat | َ081-011 And when the heights will be discovered, | وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jaĥīmu Su``irat | َ081-012 And when the Hell-Fire will be set ablaze, | وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ |
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jannatu 'Uzlifat | َ081-013 And when the Paradise will be brought near, | وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ |
`Alimat Nafsun Mā 'Aĥđarat | َ081-014 Every soul will know then what (store of deeds) it has brought forward. | عَلِمَتْ نَفْس ٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ |
Falā 'Uqsimu Bil-Khunnasi | َ081-015 Nay, I call to witness those (planets) that recede while advancing in one direction, | فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ |
Al-Jawāri Al-Kunnasi | َ081-016 Those (planets) that continue their forward course (along their orbits) and then disappear. | الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ |
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā `As`asa | َ081-017 And (I call to witness) the night when its darkness begins to depart, | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ |
Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā Tanaffasa | َ081-018 And the dawn as it begins to breathe (and brightens up), | وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ |
'Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin | َ081-019 That verily this (Qur´ân) is indeed the word (revealed to and) uttered by a noble (and illustrious) Messenger (- Muhammad), | إِنَّه ُُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُول ٍ كَرِيم ٍ |
Dhī Qūwatin `Inda Dhī Al-`Arshi Makīnin | َ081-020 Possessor of power, occupying a (glorious) secure position with the Lord of the Throne, | ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِين ٍ |
Muţā`in Thamma 'Amīnin | َ081-021 Who is entitled to be obeyed and who is here also known as trust-worthy. | مُطَاع ٍ ثَمَّ أَمِين ٍ |
Wa Mā Şāĥibukum Bimajnūnin | َ081-022 And that this compatriot of yours (-Muhammad) is not at all mad. | وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُون ٍ |
Wa Laqad Ra'āhu Bil-'Ufuqi Al-Mubīni | َ081-023 And he has most surely seen himself (shining in the resplendence of his own light) in the clear horizon (- in the remotest corners of the world). | وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ |
Wa Mā Huwa `Alá Al-Ghaybi Biđanīnin | َ081-024 And he is not at all niggardly, nor a forgerer in disclosing the hidden realties. | وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِين ٍ |
Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shayţānin Rajīmin | َ081-025 Nor is this (Qur´ân) the word of satan who is driven away (from divine presence). | وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَان ٍ رَجِيم ٍ |
Fa'ayna Tadh/habūna | َ081-026 Where do you wander to (leaving this Qur´ân and the Messenger aside)? | فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ |
'In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna | َ081-027 This is but a means to rise to eminence for all people, | إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْر ٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ |
Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yastaqīma | َ081-028 For such of you who wish to walk straight (to attain eminence). | لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ |
Wa Mā Tashā'ūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Al-Lahu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna | َ081-029 And you should not desire (otherwise) except that which Allâh the Lord of the worlds desires (for you). | وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
