Wa An-Nāzi`āti Gharqāan | َ079-001 I call to witness those groups of beings, who perform their duties (towards their Lord and mankind and themselves) with intense zeal and to the best of their capacity, | وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقا ً |
Wa An-Nāshiţāti Nashţāan | َ079-002 And those who exert themselves vigorously, | وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطا ً |
Wa As-Sābiĥāti Sabĥāan | َ079-003 And those who steer their course swiftly and skillfully, | وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحا ً |
Fālssābiqāti Sabqāan | َ079-004 Then those who going foremost greatly excel (all others and attain the topmost positions), | فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقا ً |
Fālmudabbirāti 'Amrāan | َ079-005 Then those who administer the affairs in an excellent manner (shall reap the fruit of their striving). | فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرا ً |
Yawma Tarjufu Ar-Rājifahu | َ079-006 (It shall be) on the day when the quacking (earth) shall quake; | يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ |
Tatba`uhā Ar-Rādifahu | َ079-007 Quakes after quakes shall follow this. | تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ |
Qulūbun Yawma'idhin Wājifahun | َ079-008 On that day many hearts will be trembling with fear, | قُلُوب ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ وَاجِفَة ٌ |
'Abşāruhā Khāshi`ahun | َ079-009 Their eyes will be downcast (in disgrace). | أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَة ٌ |
Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Lamardūdūna Fī Al-Ĥāfirahi | َ079-010 (These are the people) who say, `Shall we (really) be restored to (our) former state (after we are dead)? | يَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ |
'A'idhā Kunnā `Ižāmāan Nakhirahan | َ079-011 `Shall it be (even) when we are (reduced to) hollow bones?´ | أَئِذَا كُنَّا عِظَاما ً نَخِرَة ً |
Qālū Tilka 'Idhāan Karratun Khāsirahun | َ079-012 (And) who say, `Then such a resurrection shall indeed be fraught with loss.´ | قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذا ً كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَة ٌ |
Fa'innamā Hiya Zajratun Wāĥidahun | َ079-013 (Let them say what they think,) It will be no more than a single scare blast. | فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَة ٌ وَاحِدَة ٌ |
Fa'idhā Hum Bis-Sāhirahi | َ079-014 And behold! (after that) they will all be (awakened and come out) in the open. | فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ |
Hal 'Tāka Ĥadīthu Mūsá | َ079-015 The story of Moses has reached you. | هَلْ أتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَى |
'Idh Nādāhu Rabbuhu Bil-Wādi Al-Muqaddasi Ţūáan | َ079-016 When his Lord called out to him in the Sacred Valley of Tuwâ, | إِذْ نَادَاه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوى ً |
Adh/hab 'Ilá Fir`awna 'Innahu Ţaghá | َ079-017 (And directed him,) `Go to Pharaoh, he has transgressed all limits. | اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّه ُُ طَغَى |
Faqul Hal Laka 'Ilá 'An Tazakká | َ079-018 `And say (to him), "Would you like to purify yourself; | فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ تَزَكَّى |
Wa 'Ahdiyaka 'Ilá Rabbika Fatakhshá | َ079-019 That I should guide you to your Lord so that you may stand in awe of Him?´ | وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى |
Fa'arāhu Al-'Āyata Al-Kubrá | َ079-020 So (Moses went to Pharaoh and) he showed him the great sign (of the staff). | فَأَرَاهُ الآيَةَ الْكُبْرَى |
Fakadhdhaba Wa `Aşá | َ079-021 But he belied (Moses) and disobeyed, | فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَى |
Thumma 'Adbara Yas`á | َ079-022 Then he turned back striving (and devising schemes against him). | ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَى |
Faĥashara Fanādá | َ079-023 And he gathered (his people) and proclaimed, | فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى |
Faqāla 'Anā Rabbukumu Al-'A`lá | َ079-024 Saying, `I (- Pharaoh) am your supreme lord.´ | فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الأَعْلَى |
Fa'akhadhahu Al-Lahu Nakāla Al-'Ākhirati Wa Al-'Ūlá | َ079-025 So Allâh seized him for the punishment of (both) the next and the present life. | فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الآخِرَةِ وَالأُولَى |
'Inna Fī Dhālika La`ibratan Liman Yakhshá | َ079-026 Indeed, there is a lesson in this (event) for him who stands in awe (of his Lord). | إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَة ً لِمَنْ يَخْشَى |
'A'antum 'Ashaddu Khalqāan 'Ami As-Samā'u ۚ Banāhā | َ079-027 (O mankind!) are you harder to be created (again) or the heaven? He (the Almighty Lord) has made it. | أَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقاً أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا |
Rafa`a Samkahā Fasawwāhā | َ079-028 He has raised the height thereof, and has made it flawlessly perfect and well-balanced. | رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا |
Wa 'Aghţasha Laylahā Wa 'Akhraja Đuĥāhā | َ079-029 And He gave darkness to its night, and brought forth the morn thereof. | وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا |
Wa Al-'Arđa Ba`da Dhālika Daĥāhā | َ079-030 And along with it He hurled the earth away (from a bigger mass) and spread it forth. | وَالأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا |
'Akhraja Minhā Mā'ahā Wa Mar`āhā | َ079-031 He produced from it its water and pasture. | أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا |
Wa Al-Jibāla 'Arsāhā | َ079-032 He set the mountains firmly. | وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا |
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum | َ079-033 (He has done all this to serve as) a goodly provisions for you and your cattle. | مَتَاعا ً لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ |
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aţ-Ţāmmatu Al-Kubrá | َ079-034 Behold! when that great calamity comes to pass, | فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَى |
Yawma Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Mā Sa`á | َ079-035 On that day every person will call to mind all that he strove for. | يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَى |
Wa Burrizati Al-Jaĥīmu Liman Yará | َ079-036 And Hell shall be brought in view of him who sees. | وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَرَى |
Fa'ammā Man Ţaghá | َ079-037 Then as for the one who transgresses, | فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَى |
Wa 'Āthara Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā | َ079-038 And prefers the present life (to the Hereafter), | وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا |
Fa'inna Al-Jaĥīma Hiya Al-Ma'wá | َ079-039 (Let him remember that) the Hell shall surely be (his) abode. | فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى |
Wa 'Ammā Man Khāfa Maqāma Rabbihi Wa Nahá An-Nafsa `Ani Al-Hawá | َ079-040 But as for the one who fears to stand before his Lord and restrains himself from evil desires, | وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّه ِِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى |
Fa'inna Al-Jannata Hiya Al-Ma'wá | َ079-041 Then Garden (of bliss) shall surely be (his permanent) abode. | فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى |
Yas'alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati 'Ayyāna Mursāhā | َ079-042 The people ask you concerning the Hour (saying), `When shall it come to pass?´ | يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا |
Fīma 'Anta Min Dhikrāhā | َ079-043 Why (do they ask this question)? It is you who are its reminder (you being one of its signs). | فِيمَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ذِكْرَاهَا |
'Ilá Rabbika Muntahāhā | َ079-044 The ultimate end of it is decreed by your Lord. | إِلَى رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا |
'Innamā 'Anta Mundhiru Man Yakhshāhā | َ079-045 You are only a Warner to one who fears it. | إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنذِرُ مَنْ يَخْشَاهَا |
Ka'annahum Yawma Yarawnahā Lam Yalbathū 'Illā `Ashīyatan 'Aw Đuĥāhā | َ079-046 The day they witness it (-the Hour, they will feel) as if they had stayed (in the world and the grave) for an afternoon or a (short) forenoon thereof. | كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلاَّ عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا |
