Lā 'Uqsimu Biyawmi Al-Qiyāmahi | َ075-001 Nay, (it is not like what you imagine,) I swear by the Day of Resurrection; | لاَ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ |
Wa Lā 'Uqsimu Bin-Nafsi Al-Lawwāmahi | َ075-002 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul (at the doing of an evil deed as an evidence to the truth of Final Resurrection). | وَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ |
'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insānu 'Allan Najma`a `Ižāmahu | َ075-003 Does a human-being think that We will not assemble his bones? (We will indeed.) | أَيَحْسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ |
Balá Qādirīna `Alá 'An Nusawwiya Banānahu | َ075-004 No doubt, We have the power to reproduce him to a complete form even to the very tips of his fingers. | بَلَى قَادِرِينَ عَلَى أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ |
Bal Yurīdu Al-'Insānu Liyafjura 'Amāmahu | َ075-005 (His denial of Resurrection is because) a human being likes to continue in his evil ways in (the life) that is before him (without fearing the consequences of his deeds). | بَلْ يُرِيدُ الإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ |
Yas'alu 'Ayyāna Yawmu Al-Qiyāmahi | َ075-006 He asks (with contempt and doubt), `When shall the Day of Resurrection come to be?´ | يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ |
Fa'idhā Bariqa Al-Başaru | َ075-007 (It shall be the day) when the sight (of a person) is confused (and he is confounded for being unable to find the right course). | فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ |
Wa Khasafa Al-Qamaru | َ075-008 And the moon will eclipse. | وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ |
Wa Jumi`a Ash-Shamsu Wa Al-Qamaru | َ075-009 And the sun and the moon will be brought together. | وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ |
Yaqūlu Al-'Insānu Yawma'idhin 'Ayna Al-Mafarru | َ075-010 The human being shall say on that day, `Whither to flee?´ | يَقُولُ الإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ |
Kallā Lā Wazara | َ075-011 To nowhere at all, there is no refuge. | كَلاَّ لاَ وَزَرَ |
'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Mustaqarru | َ075-012 Upon that day the recourse shall be to your Lord. | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ |
Yunabba'u Al-'Insānu Yawma'idhin Bimā Qaddama Wa 'Akhkhara | َ075-013 Upon that day every soul shall be informed about all his commissions and omissions. | يُنَبَّأُ الإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ |
Bali Al-'Insānu `Alá Nafsihi Başīrahun | َ075-014 Rather a human being is himself well-aware of his own self (and so himself is a witness against his own soul). | بَلِ الإِنسَانُ عَلَى نَفْسِه ِِ بَصِيرَة ٌ |
Wa Law 'Alqá Ma`ādhīrahu | َ075-015 (No excuse will be accepted from him) even though he puts forth his (all possible) excuses, (to prove his innocence). | وَلَوْ أَلْقَى مَعَاذِيرَهُ |
Lā Tuĥarrik Bihi Lisānaka Lita`jala Bihi | َ075-016 (Prophet! when We reveal the Qur´ân) do not move your tongue (with a mind) to repeat (this revelation in order to commit it to your memory) hurriedly. | لاَ تُحَرِّكْ بِه ِِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ |
'Inna `Alaynā Jam`ahu Wa Qur'ānahu | َ075-017 The responsibility of its collection and its arrangement lies on Us. | إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَه ُُ وَقُرْآنَهُ |
Fa'idhā Qara'nāhu Fa Attabi` Qur'ānahu | َ075-018 When We recite it, then follow its recitation. | فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاه ُُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ |
Thumma 'Inna `Alaynā Bayānahu | َ075-019 The responsibility of explaining it lies again on Us. | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ |
Kallā Bal Tuĥibbūna Al-`Ājilaha | َ075-020 Behold! you people love the present transient (life), | كَلاَّ بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ |
Wa Tadharūna Al-'Ākhiraha | َ075-021 And neglect the Hereafter. | وَتَذَرُونَ الآخِرَةَ |
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Nāđirahun | َ075-022 On that day some faces will be fresh, beaming and bright, | وُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ نَاضِرَة ٌ |
'Ilá Rabbihā Nāžirahun | َ075-023 Looking (absorbed in the vision of) their Lord; | إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَة ٌ |
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Bāsirahun | َ075-024 And also on that day some faces will look gloomy and dismal, | وَوُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ بَاسِرَة ٌ |
Tažunnu 'An Yuf`ala Bihā Fāqirahun | َ075-025 Because they will realise that a back breaking calamity is about to befall them. | تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَة ٌ |
Kallā 'Idhā Balaghati At-Tarāqī | َ075-026 Behold! when it (- the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat (to leave his body in death) | كَلاَّ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِي |
Wa Qīla Man ۜ Rāqin | َ075-027 And (when those around the dying person say), `Who is the physician to cure and save him?´ | وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاق ٍ |
Wa Žanna 'Annahu Al-Firāqu | َ075-028 And he himself realizes that it is the (time of) parting. | وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ |
Wa Altaffati As-Sāqu Bis-Sāqi | َ075-029 And one shank rubs against the other (in death agony) and one distress will be combined with another distress (for the departing soul). | وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ |
'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Masāqu | َ075-030 On that day people will be driven towards your Lord (to reap the fruit of the deeds done in this life). | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ الْمَسَاقُ |
Falā Şaddaqa Wa Lā Şallá | َ075-031 For this person (being unmindful of the consequences) neither accepted the truth nor offered Prayer. | فَلاَ صَدَّقَ وَلاَ صَلَّى |
Wa Lakin Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá | َ075-032 Rather he cried lies (to the truth and the Prophet) and turned away (refusing to obey His commandments). | وَلَكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
Thumma Dhahaba 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Yatamaţţá | َ075-033 Then he went to his kinsfolk strutting along (in false pride). | ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَهْلِه ِِ يَتَمَطَّى |
'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá | َ075-034 Woe be to you! then woe upon woe (in this very life). | أَوْلَى لَكَ فَأَوْلَى |
Thumma 'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá | َ075-035 Again (in the Hereafter) woe be to you, then woe upon woe! | ثُمَّ أَوْلَى لَكَ فَأَوْلَى |
'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insānu 'An Yutraka Sudáan | َ075-036 Does a person think that he will be left alone without purpose. | أَيَحْسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدى ً |
'Alam Yaku Nuţfatan Min Manīyin Yumná | َ075-037 Was he not a small drop of semen ejected (into a proper place). | أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَة ً مِنْ مَنِيّ ٍ يُمْنَى |
Thumma Kāna `Alaqatan Fakhalaqa Fasawwá | َ075-038 (Which drop) then became a clot of blood, then He fashioned (him through various stages) and perfected (him in his make). | ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَة ً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّى |
Faja`ala Minhu Az-Zawjayni Adh-Dhakara Wa Al-'Unthá | َ075-039 Then He made of him a pair, the male and the female. | فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثَى |
'Alaysa Dhālika Biqādirin `Alá 'An Yuĥyiya Al-Mawtá | َ075-040 Has not such a One (Who creates from an inanimate source) the power of raising the (physically and spiritually) dead to life. | أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى |
