12) سُورَة يُوسُف

'Alif-Lām-Rā Tilka 'Āyātu Al-Kitābi Al-Mubīni َ012-001 Alif Lâm Râ. These are the verses of the perfect Book, containing luminous (truths) that tell the right from the wrong. أَلِف-لَام-رَا تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
'Innā 'Anzalnāhu Qur'ānāan `Arabīyāan La`allakum Ta`qilūna َ012-002 We have, indeed revealed this Qur´ân which explains its object eloquently well that you may abstain (from evils). إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاه ُُ قُرْآناً عَرَبِيّا ً لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Naĥnu Naquşşu `Alayka 'Aĥsana Al-Qaşaşi Bimā 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayka Hādhā Al-Qur'āna Wa 'In Kunta Min Qablihi Lamina Al-Ghāfilīna َ012-003 We narrate (rightly) to you with the best explanation because We revealed to you this Qur´ân; otherwise you were of those not possessed of the (requisite) knowledge before this. نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ بِمَا أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ وَإِنْ كُنتَ مِنْ قَبْلِه ِِ لَمِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ
'Idh Qāla Yūsufu Li'abīhi Yā 'Abati 'Innī Ra'aytu 'Aĥada `Ashara Kawkabāan Wa Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Ra'aytuhum Lī Sājidīna َ012-004 (Remember the time) when Joseph said to his father, `My dear father! I have seen (in a vision) eleven stars and the sun and the moon. I saw them falling down prostrate (before God) because of me.´ إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيه ِِ يَاأَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبا ً وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِي سَاجِدِينَ
Qāla Yā Bunayya Lā Taqşuş Ru'uyā Ka `Alá 'Ikhwatika Fayakīdū Laka  ۖ  Kaydāan 'Inna Ash-Shayţāna Lil'insāni `Adūwun Mubīnun َ012-005 He said, `My dear son! relate not your vision to your brothers lest they should intrigue against you, for satan is to a human being an enemy disuniting. قَالَ يَابُنَيَّ لاَ تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَى إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيْدا ً إِنَّ  ۖ  الشَّيْطَانَ لِلإِنسَانِ عَدُوّ ٌ مُبِين ٌ
Wa Kadhalika Yajtabīka Rabbuka Wa Yu`allimuka Min Ta'wīli Al-'Aĥādīthi Wa Yutimmu Ni`matahu `Alayka Wa `Alá 'Āli Ya`qūba Kamā 'Atammahā `Alá 'Abawayka Min Qablu 'Ibrāhīma Wa 'Isĥāqa  ۚ  'Inna Rabbaka `Alīmun Ĥakīmun َ012-006 `And thus (shall it be as He has shown you in this vision). Your Lord will make you His chosen one and impart you knowledge of the true interpretation of (Divine) sayings and will perfect His favours upon you and upon the family of Jacob, just as He perfected it formerly upon two of your forefathers - Abraham and Isaac. Verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise.´ وَكَذَلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَه ُُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى آلِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَا أَتَمَّهَا عَلَى أَبَوَيْكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ  ۚ  إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيم ٌ
Laqad Kāna Fī Yūsufa Wa 'Ikhwatihi 'Āyātun Lilssā'ilīna َ012-007 The fact is that there are many signs in (the account of) Joseph and his brothers for the inquirers (about the prophethood of Muhammad and about his opponents). لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِ آيَات ٌ لِلسَّائِلِينَ
'Idh Qālū Layūsufu Wa 'Akhūhu 'Aĥabbu 'Ilá 'Abīnā Minnā Wa Naĥnu `Uşbatun 'Inna 'Abānā Lafī Đalālin Mubīnin َ012-008 (Recall) when they (- brothers of Joseph) said (to one another), `Surely, Joseph and his brother (Benjamin) are dearer to our father than we are, though we are a formidable party. Surely, our father is cherishing a love that has gone too far. إِذْ قَالُوا لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ~ُ أَحَبُّ إِلَى أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَة ٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِي ضَلاَل ٍ مُبِين ٍ
Aqtulū Yūsufa 'Awi Aţraĥūhu 'Arđāan Yakhlu Lakum Wajhu 'Abīkum Wa Takūnū Min Ba`dihi Qawmāan Şāliĥīna َ012-009 `So you (had better either) kill Joseph or remove him to some distant land. (In this way) your father´s favour will be exclusively yours. After that you can (repent and) become a pious people.´ اقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ أَوِ اطْرَحُوهُ~ُ أَرْضا ً يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا مِنْ بَعْدِه ِِ قَوْما ً صَالِحِينَ
Qāla Qā'ilun Minhum Lā Taqtulū Yūsufa Wa 'Alqūhu Fī Ghayābati Al-Jubbi Yaltaqiţhu Ba`đu As-Sayyārati 'In Kuntum Fā`ilīna َ012-010 (At this) a speaker among them said, `If you are bent upon doing something at all, do not kill Joseph but put him into the dark depths of the dry well; (perhaps) some caravan of travellers may pick him out.´ قَالَ قَائِل ٌ مِنْهُمْ لاَ تَقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوه ُُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ إِنْ كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Qālū Yā 'Abānā Mā Laka Lā Ta'mannā `Alá Yūsufa Wa 'Innā Lahu Lanāşiĥūna َ012-011 (On making this resolution) they (went to their father and) said, `Our father! why do you not trust us with regard to Joseph, while, as a matter of fact, we are his sincere well-wishers? قَالُوا يَاأَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لاَ تَأْمَنَّا عَلَى يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَه ُُ لَنَاصِحُونَ
'Arsilhu Ma`anā Ghadāan Yarta` Wa Yal`ab Wa 'Innā Lahu Laĥāfižūna َ012-012 `Send him forth with us (for an outing) tomorrow, that he may enjoy himself and play. Surely, we will keep guard over him.´ أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدا ً يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَه ُُ لَحَافِظُونَ
Qāla 'Innī Layaĥzununī 'An Tadh/habū Bihi Wa 'Akhāfu 'An Ya'kulahu Adh-Dhi'bu Wa 'Antum `Anhu Ghāfilūna َ012-013 He said, `It worries me that you should take him away. Moreover, I fear lest a wolf should devour him while you are heedless of him.´ قَالَ إِنِّي لَيَحْزُنُنِي أَنْ تَذْهَبُوا بِه ِِ وَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَأَنْتُمْ عَنْهُ غَافِلُونَ
Qālū La'in 'Akalahu Adh-Dhi'bu Wa Naĥnu `Uşbatun 'Innā 'Idhāan Lakhāsirūna َ012-014 They said, `If the wolf were to devour him inspite of the fact we are a formidable party, in that case we shall be indeed losers.´ قَالُوا لَئِنْ أَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَة ٌ إِنَّا إِذا ً لَخَاسِرُونَ
Falammā Dhahabū Bihi Wa 'Ajma`ū 'An Yaj`alūhu Fī Ghayābati Al-Jubbi  ۚ  Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayhi Latunabbi'annahum Bi'amrihimdhā Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna َ012-015 So when (after forcing their father) they took him away and agreed to put him into the depths of a dry well (and carried their plan out), We revealed to him (- Joseph), `You shall certainly tell them (one day) of this (treacherous) doing of theirs while they perceive not.´ فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا بِه ِِ وَأَجْمَعُوا أَنْ يَجْعَلُوه ُُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ  ۚ  وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُمْ بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَذَا وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
Wa Jā'ū 'Abāhum `Ishā'an Yabkūna َ012-016 And they came weeping to their father at nightfall. وَجَاءُوا أَبَاهُمْ عِشَاء ً يَبْكُونَ
Qālū Yā 'Abānā 'Innā Dhahabnā Nastabiqu Wa Taraknā Yūsufa `Inda Matā`inā Fa'akalahu Adh-Dhi'bu  ۖ  Wa Mā 'Anta Bimu'uminin Lanā Wa Law Kunnā Şādiqīna َ012-017 They said, `Our father! we went forth racing one with another and left Joseph (behind) with our belongings and the wolf devoured him. But you would never believe us though we be the truthful ones.´ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوسُفَ عِنْدَ مَتَاعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ  ۖ  وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُؤْمِن ٍ لَنَا وَلَوْ كُنَّا صَادِقِينَ
Wa Jā'ū `Alá Qamīşihi Bidamin Kadhibin  ۚ  Qāla Bal Sawwalat Lakum 'Anfusukum 'Amrāan  ۖ  Faşabrun Jamīlun Wa  ۖ  Allāhu Al-Musta`ānu `Alá Mā Taşifūna َ012-018 And (to assure their father) they came (to him) with (stains of) false blood on his (- Joseph´s) shirt. He (- Jacob) said, `This is not true, but you yourselves have made a (malicious) thing seem fair to you. So (now showing) patience is befitting (for me). And it is Allâh (alone) whose help can be sought to avert what you describe.´ وَجَاءُوا عَلَى قَمِيصِه ِِ بِدَم ٍ كَذِب ٍ  ۚ  قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرا ً  ۖ  فَصَبْر ٌ جَمِيل ٌ  ۖ  وَاللَّهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَى مَا تَصِفُونَ
Wa Jā'at Sayyāratun Fa'arsalū Wa Aridahum Fa'adlá Dalwahu  ۖ  Qāla Yā Bushrá Hādhā Ghulāmun  ۚ  Wa 'Asarrūhu Biđā`atan Wa  ۚ  Allāhu `Alīmun Bimā Ya`malūna َ012-019 (Now) there came a caravan of travellers and they sent their water-drawer (to fetch water) and he let down his bucket (into the well). And behold! he cried, `Oh, glad tidings, here is a young boy.´ So they (- Joseph´s brothers) presented him (in this way) as (if) a piece of merchandise, and Allâh was Well-Aware of their doings. وَجَاءَتْ سَيَّارَة ٌ فَأَرْسَلُوا وَارِدَهُمْ فَأَدْلَى دَلْوَه ُُ  ۖ  قَالَ يَا بُشْرَى هَذَا غُلاَم ٌ  ۚ  وَأَسَرُّوه ُُ بِضَاعَة ً  ۚ  وَاللَّهُ عَلِيم ٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Sharawhu Bithamanin Bakhsin Darāhima Ma`dūdatin Wa Kānū Fīhi Mina Az-Zāhidīna َ012-020 And they (- the brothers of Joseph) sold him, (claiming him to be their slave, to the travellers) for a trifling price - a few dirhams (- silver coins), and they were not (even) desirous of it. وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَن ٍ بَخْس ٍ دَرَاهِمَ مَعْدُودَة ٍ وَكَانُوا فِيه ِِ مِنَ الزَّاهِدِينَ
Wa Qāla Al-Ladhī Ashtarāhu Min Mişra Li'imra'atihi 'Akrimī Mathwāhu `Asá 'An Yanfa`anā 'Aw Nattakhidhahu Waladāan  ۚ  Wa Kadhalika Makkannā Liyūsufa Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Linu`allimahu Min Ta'wīli Al-'Aĥādīthi Wa  ۚ  Allāhu Ghālibun `Alá 'Amrihi Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna َ012-021 And (Joseph was taken to Egypt and resold there;) the man from Egypt who bought him (from the travellers) said to his wife, `Make his stay honourable. He may prove useful to us or we may adopt him as a son.´ In this way did We grant Joseph an honourable position in the country and (We did it) that We might impart to him knowledge of the interpretation of some (Divine) sayings. And Allâh has full power over His decree, but most people do not know (this). وَقَالَ الَّذِي اشْتَرَاه ُُ مِنْ مِصْرَ لِإمْرَأَتِهِ~ِ أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاه ُُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَه ُُ وَلَدا ً  ۚ  وَكَذَلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَه ُُ مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الأَحَادِيثِ  ۚ  وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِه ِِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Lammā Balagha 'Ashuddahu 'Ātaynāhu Ĥukmāan Wa `Ilmāan  ۚ  Wa Kadhalika Naj Al-Muĥsinīna َ012-022 And when he attained his (age of) full strength, We granted him judgment and knowledge, and thus do We reward the doers of good deeds to others. وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ آتَيْنَاه ُُ حُكْما ً وَعِلْما ً  ۚ  وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa Rāwadat/hu Allatī Huwa Fī Baytihā `An Nafsihi Wa Ghallaqati Al-'Abwāba Wa Qālat Hayta Laka  ۚ  Qāla Ma`ādha Al-Lahi  ۖ  'Innahu Rabbī 'Aĥsana Mathwāya  ۖ  'Innahu Lā Yufliĥu Až-Žālimūna َ012-023 Now the woman in whose house he was (putting up) sought to seduce him against his will and she bolted the doors well and said, `Now come, I am ready to receive you.´ He (- Joseph) said, `(How can it be possible,) I seek refuge with Allâh, He alone is my Lord. He has made my stay (with you) honourable. Verily, the wrong doers never flourish.´ وَرَاوَدَتْهُ الَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيْتِهَا عَنْ نَفْسِه ِِ وَغَلَّقَتِ الأَبْوَابَ وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ  ۚ  قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ  ۖ  إِنَّه ُُ رَبِّي أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَايَ  ۖ  إِنَّهُ لاَ يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ
Wa Laqad Hammat Bihi  ۖ  Wa Hamma Bihā Lawlā 'An Ra'á Burhāna Rabbihi  ۚ  Kadhālika Linaşrifa `Anhu As-Sū'a Wa Al-Faĥshā'a  ۚ  'Innahu Min `Ibādinā Al-Mukhlaşīna َ012-024 And she made up her mind with regard to him, and he made up his mind with regard to her (and would have fallen into her snares as the temptations were so strong) if he had not seen the manifest evidence of his Lord. (It happened thus) so that We might turn away from him every evil and indecency. Surely, he was one of Our purified servants. وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِه ِِ  ۖ  وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلاَ أَنْ رَأَى بُرْهَانَ رَبِّه ِِ  ۚ  كَذَلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ السُّوءَ وَالْفَحْشَاءَ  ۚ  إِنَّه ُُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُخْلَصِينَ
Wa Astabaqā Al-Bāba Wa Qaddat Qamīşahu Min Duburin Wa 'Alfayā Sayyidahā Ladá Al-Bābi  ۚ  Qālat Mā Jazā'u Man 'Arāda Bi'ahlika Sū'āan 'Illā 'An Yusjana 'Aw `Adhābun 'Alīmun َ012-025 And both of them ran for the door, one trying to outdo the other. And (in the struggle) she tore his shirt from behind. They encountered her husband (all of a sudden) by the door. She said, `There can be no punishment less than imprisonment or some other painful torture for the man who intended evil with your wife.´ وَاسْتَبَقَا الْبَابَ وَقَدَّتْ قَمِيصَه ُُ مِنْ دُبُر ٍ وَأَلْفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَى الْبَابِ  ۚ  قَالَتْ مَا جَزَاءُ مَنْ أَرَادَ بِأَهْلِكَ سُوءا ً إِلاَّ أَنْ يُسْجَنَ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيم ٌ
Qāla Hiya Rāwadatnī `An Nafsī  ۚ  Wa Shahida Shāhidun Min 'Ahlihā 'In Kāna Qamīşuhu Qudda Min Qubulin Faşadaqat Wa Huwa Mina Al-Kādhibīna َ012-026 He (- Joseph) said, `No, (it is not so as she describes but) she it was who sought to seduce me against my will.´ Now a (learned) witness of her own family bore a (circumstantial) evidence (saying), `If his shirt has been torn from the front then she speaks the truth and he is of the liars. قَالَ هِيَ رَاوَدَتْنِي عَنْ نَفْسِي  ۚ  وَشَهِدَ شَاهِد ٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا إِنْ كَانَ قَمِيصُه ُُ قُدَّ مِنْ قُبُل ٍ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ
Wa 'In Kāna Qamīşuhu Qudda Min Duburin Fakadhabat Wa Huwa Mina Aş-Şādiqīna َ012-027 `But if his shirt has been torn from behind then she is a liar and he speaks the truth.´ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَمِيصُه ُُ قُدَّ مِنْ دُبُر ٍ فَكَذَبَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Falammā Ra'á Qamīşahu Qudda Min Duburin Qāla 'Innahu Min Kaydikunna  ۖ  'Inna Kaydakunna `Ažīmun َ012-028 So when he (- her husband) saw his shirt torn from behind, he (at once understood the truth of the matter and) said (to his wife), `This is surely a (deceiving) device which you women practise. Your (cunning) device is indeed great.´ فَلَمَّا رَأَى قَمِيصَه ُُ قُدَّ مِنْ دُبُر ٍ قَالَ إِنَّه ُُ مِنْ كَيْدِكُنَّ  ۖ  إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيم ٌ
Yūsufu 'A`riđ `An Hādhā  ۚ  Wa Astaghfirī Lidhanbiki  ۖ  'Innaki Kunti Mina Al-Khāţi'īna َ012-029 (Turning to Joseph) he said, `Joseph! leave the matter alone and you (- woman) seek forgiveness for your sin. It is you, of course who are of the sinful.´ يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَذَا  ۚ  وَاسْتَغْفِرِي لِذَنْبِكِ  ۖ  إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الْخَاطِئِينَ
Wa Qāla Niswatun Al-Madīnati Amra'atu Al-`Azīzi Turāwidu Fatāhā `An Nafsihi  ۖ  Qad Shaghafahā Ĥubbāan  ۖ  'Innā Lanarāhā Fī Đalālin Mubīnin َ012-030 And the women talked in the city, `The wife of the ´Azîz (- Potiphar, the captain of king´s guard) seeks to seduce her young slave against his will. His love has indeed penetrated deep in her heart. Indeed, we see her in obvious error (in going too far in her love).´ وَقَالَ نِسْوَة ٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ امْرَأَتُ الْعَزِيزِ تُرَاوِدُ فَتَاهَا عَنْ نَفْسِه ِِ  ۖ  قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبّا ً  ۖ  إِنَّا لَنَرَاهَا فِي ضَلاَل ٍ مُبِين ٍ
Falammā Sami`at Bimakrihinna 'Arsalat 'Ilayhinna Wa 'A`tadat Lahunna Muttaka'an Wa 'Ātat Kulla Wāĥidatin Minhunna Sikkīnāan Wa Qālati Akhruj `Alayhinna  ۖ  Falammā Ra'aynahu 'Akbarnahu Wa Qaţţa`na 'Aydiyahunna Wa Qulna Ĥāsha Lillahi Mā Hādhā Basharāan 'In Hādhā 'Illā Malakun Karīmun َ012-031 And when she heard of their sly whisperings (and taunting remarks), she sent for them and prepared a repast for them, then (on the women´s arrival) she gave to each one of them a knife (to eat fruit therewith) and said (to Joseph then), `Come forth in their presence.´ So when they saw him they found him a dignified personality and cut their hands (through wonder and) said, `Glory be to Allâh! He is not a human being. He is but a noble angel.´ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَأ ً وَآتَتْ كُلَّ وَاحِدَة ٍ مِنْهُنَّ سِكِّينا ً وَقَالَتِ اخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ  ۖ  فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُ~ُ أَكْبَرْنَه ُُ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَذَا بَشَرا ً إِنْ هَذَا إِلاَّ مَلَك ٌ كَرِيم ٌ
Qālat Fadhālikunna Al-Ladhī Lumtunnanī Fīhi  ۖ  Wa Laqad Rāwadttuhu `An Nafsihi Fāsta`şama  ۖ  Wa La'in Lam Yaf`al Mā 'Āmuruhu Layusjananna Wa Layakūnāan Mina Aş-Şāghirīna َ012-032 She said, `So (you have seen) this is he about whom you blamed me. I did seek to seduce him against his will, but he preserved himself (from sin), yet (I tell him aloud) if he do not what I bid him, he shall certainly be imprisoned, and he shall indeed be of the humiliated ones.´ قَالَتْ فَذَلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيه ِِ  ۖ  وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدتُّه ُُ عَنْ نَفْسِه ِِ فَاسْتَعْصَمَ  ۖ  وَلَئِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ مَا آمُرُه ُُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونا ً مِنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ
Qāla Rabbi As-Sijnu 'Aĥabbu 'Ilayya Mimmā Yad`ūnanī 'Ilayhi  ۖ  Wa 'Illā Taşrif `Annī Kaydahunna 'Aşbu 'Ilayhinna Wa 'Akun Mina Al-Jāhilīna َ012-033 (Hearing this) he (- Joseph) said, `My Lord, the prison is more to my liking than that to which they call me to, and unless you turn away their guile from me I might yield to their allurement and be of those devoid of knowledge.´ قَالَ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ  ۖ  وَإِلاَّ تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُنْ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ
Fāstajāba Lahu Rabbuhu Faşarafa `Anhu Kaydahunna  ۚ  'Innahu Huwa As-Samī`u Al-`Alīmu َ012-034 So his Lord accepted his prayer and turned away their (- women´s) guile from him. Verily, He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. فَاسْتَجَابَ لَه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ  ۚ  إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Thumma Badā Lahum Min Ba`di Mā Ra'aw Al-'Āyāti Layasjununnahu Ĥattá Ĥīnin َ012-035 Then it occurred to them (-the companions of the `Azîz) after they had examined all the circumstances and signs (of Joseph´s innocence) that they had better imprison him for a time. (So Joseph was consigned to the prison.) ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا رَأَوُا الآيَاتِ لَيَسْجُنُنَّه ُُ حَتَّى حِين ٍ
Wa Dakhala Ma`ahu As-Sijna Fatayāni  ۖ  Qāla 'Aĥaduhumā 'Innī 'Arānī 'A`şiru Khamrāan  ۖ  Wa Qāla Al-'Ākharu 'Innī 'Arānī 'Aĥmilu Fawqa Ra'sī Khubzāan Ta'kulu Aţ-Ţayru Minhu  ۖ  Nabbi'nā Bita'wīlihi  ۖ  'Innā Narāka Mina Al-Muĥsinīna َ012-036 And with him there entered the prison two young men (- the butler and the baker of the king). One of them said to him, `I see myself (in a dream) pressing grapes.´ And the other said, `I see myself carrying upon my head bread of which the birds are eating. Inform us of the interpretation of these (dreams) for we surely find you of the doers of good to others.´ وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّجْنَ فَتَيَانِ  ۖ  قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَعْصِرُ خَمْرا ً  ۖ  وَقَالَ الآخَرُ إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَحْمِلُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِي خُبْزا ً تَأْكُلُ الطَّيْرُ مِنْهُ  ۖ  نَبِّئْنَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِ~ِ  ۖ  إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Qāla Lā Ya'tīkumā Ţa`āmun Turzaqānihi 'Illā Nabba'tukumā Bita'wīlihi Qabla 'An Ya'tiyakumā  ۚ  Dhālikumā Mimmā `Allamanī Rabbī  ۚ  'Innī Taraktu Millata Qawmin Lā Yu'uminūna Bil-Lahi Wa Hum Bil-'Ākhirati Hum Kāfirūna َ012-037 He said, `(Do not worry,) I shall inform you of the interpretation of these (dreams) before the meal you two are given comes to you. This (my ability to interpret, you should bear in mind) is a part of that knowledge which my Lord has imparted to me. I have indeed renounced the creed of the people who do not believe in Allâh and who, moreover, are disbelievers in the Hereafter. قَالَ لاَ يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَام ٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِ~ِ إِلاَّ نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِه ِِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَكُمَا  ۚ  ذَلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِي رَبِّي  ۚ  إِنِّي تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْم ٍ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَهُمْ بِالآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ
Wa Attaba`tu Millata 'Ābā'ī 'Ibrāhīma Wa 'Isĥāqa Wa Ya`qūba  ۚ  Mā Kāna Lanā 'An Nushrika Bil-Lahi Min Shay'in  ۚ  Dhālika Min Fađli Al-Lahi `Alaynā Wa `Alá An-Nāsi Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yashkurūna َ012-038 `And I have followed the creed of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is not proper for us to associate anything as a partner with Allâh. That (He taught us unity of God) is entirely due to Allâh´s grace upon us and upon (other) people. But most people do not render thanks (for this blessing). وَاتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ آبَائِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ  ۚ  مَا كَانَ لَنَا أَنْ نُشْرِكَ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ  ۚ  ذَلِكَ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَشْكُرُونَ
Yā Şāĥibayi As-Sijni 'A'arbābun Mutafarriqūna Khayrun 'Ami Al-Lahu Al-Wāĥidu Al-Qahhāru َ012-039 `My two fellow-prisoners! what is better? Diverse and numerous gods or Allâh, the One, the Most Supreme? يَا صَاحِبَيِ السِّجْنِ أَأَرْبَاب ٌ مُتَفَرِّقُونَ خَيْرٌ أَمِ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ
Mā Ta`budūna Min Dūnihi 'Illā 'Asmā'an Sammaytumūhā 'Antum Wa 'Ābā'uukum Mā 'Anzala Al-Lahu Bihā Min Sulţānin  ۚ  'Ini Al-Ĥukmu 'Illā Lillahi  ۚ  'Amara 'Allā Ta`budū 'Illā 'Īyāhu  ۚ  Dhālika Ad-Dīnu Al-Qayyimu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna َ012-040 `You worship nothing, apart from Him but some mere (imaginary) names coined by you and by your fathers. Allâh has sent down no authority for (worshipping) that. The judgment rests with Allâh alone. He has commanded that you shall worship none but Him alone. That is the right (and lasting) faith, yet most people know (it) not. مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ~ِ إِلاَّ أَسْمَاء ً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَان ٍ  ۚ  إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلاَّ لِلَّهِ  ۚ  أَمَرَ أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُوا إِلاَّ إِيَّاه ُُ  ۚ  ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Yā Şāĥibayi As-Sijni 'Ammā 'Aĥadukumā Fayasqī Rabbahu Khamrāan  ۖ  Wa 'Ammā Al-'Ākharu Fayuşlabu Fata'kulu Aţ-Ţayru Min Ra'sihi  ۚ  Quđiya Al-'Amru Al-Ladhī Fīhi Tastaftiyāni َ012-041 `My two fellow-prisoners! as for one of you, he will pour out wine for his lord to drink and as for the other, he shall be crucified so that the birds will eat (flesh) from off his head. The matter about which you inquired stands decreed.´ يَا صَاحِبَيِ السِّجْنِ أَمَّا أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسْقِي رَبَّه ُُ خَمْرا ً  ۖ  وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَيُصْلَبُ فَتَأْكُلُ الطَّيْرُ مِنْ رَأْسِه ِِ  ۚ  قُضِيَ الأَمْرُ الَّذِي فِيه ِِ تَسْتَفْتِيَانِ
Wa Qāla Lilladhī Žanna 'Annahu Nājin Minhumā Adhkurnī `Inda Rabbika Fa'ansāhu Ash-Shayţānu Dhikra Rabbihi Falabitha Fī As-Sijni Biđ`a Sinīna َ012-042 And of the two, he knew to be the one who would be released, he said, `Mention me to your lord.´ But satan made him (-the released person) forget to mention (Joseph) to his lord so that he (- Joseph) remained confined in the prison for a few years. وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّه ُُ نَاج ٍ مِنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّه ِِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ
Wa Qāla Al-Maliku 'Innī 'Ará Sab`a Baqarātin Simānin Ya'kuluhunna Sab`un `Ijāfun Wa Sab`a Sunbulātin Khrin Wa 'Ukhara Yā  ۖ  Bisātin Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Mala'u 'Aftūnī Fī Ru'uyā Ya 'In Kuntum Lilrru'uyā Ta`burūna َ012-043 Now (it so happened that one day) the king said, `I saw (in a dream) seven fat kine which seven lean ones were eating, and seven green ears of corn and (as many) others withered. You nobles of the court! explain to me the real significance of my dream if you can interpret dreams.´ وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ إِنِّي أَرَى سَبْعَ بَقَرَات ٍ سِمَان ٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَاف ٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنْبُلاَتٍ خُضْر ٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَات ٍ  ۖ  يَاأَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِنْ كُنتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ
Qālū 'Ađghāthu 'Aĥlāmin  ۖ  Wa Mā Naĥnu Bita'wīli Al-'Aĥlāmi Bi`ālimīna َ012-044 They said, `(These are) confused dreams and we do not know the interpretation of such confused dreams.´ قَالُوا أَضْغَاثُ أَحْلاَم ٍ  ۖ  وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ الأَحْلاَمِ بِعَالِمِينَ
Wa Qāla Al-Ladhī Najā Minhumā Wa Aiddakara Ba`da 'Ummatin 'Anā 'Unabbi'ukum Bita'wīlihi Fa'arsilūni َ012-045 And of the two (prisoners) the one who had got his release and who (now) recalled (Joseph) to his mind after a long time, said, `I will inform you of its (true) interpretation, therefore send me (for the purpose to Joseph in prison).´ وَقَالَ الَّذِي نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَاِدَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِتَأْوِيلِه ِِ فَأَرْسِلُونِ
Yūsufu 'Ayyuhā Aş-Şiddīqu 'Aftinā Fī Sab`i Baqarātin Simānin Ya'kuluhunna Sab`un `Ijāfun Wa Sab`i Sunbulātin Khrin Wa 'Ukhara Yā Bisātin La`allī 'Arji`u 'Ilá An-Nāsi La`allahum Ya`lamūna َ012-046 (So he went to Joseph in the prison and exclaimed,) `Joseph, you, the man of truth, explain to us the (real) significance of (a dream in which) seven fat kine which seven lean ones devour; and (of) seven green ears of corn and as many others withered, so that I may return to the people and they may know (the interpretation and thereby your exalted position).´ يُوسُفُ أَيُّهَا الصِّدِّيقُ أَفْتِنَا فِي سَبْعِ بَقَرَات ٍ سِمَان ٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَاف ٌ وَسَبْعِ سُنْبُلاَتٍ خُضْر ٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَات ٍ لَعَلِّي أَرْجِعُ إِلَى النَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
Qāla Tazra`ūna Sab`a Sinīna Da'abāan Famā Ĥaşadtum Fadharūhu Fī Sunbulihi 'Illā Qalīlāan Mimmā Ta'kulūna َ012-047 He (- Joseph) replied, `You shall sow for seven years working hard and continuously and let what you have harvested remain in its ear excepting a little whereof you may eat. قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبا ً فَمَا حَصَدْتُمْ فَذَرُوه ُُ فِي سُنْبُلِهِ~ِ إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ
Thumma Ya'tī Min Ba`di Dhālika Sab`un Shidādun Ya'kulna Mā Qaddamtum Lahunna 'Illā Qalīlāan Mimmā Tuĥşinūna َ012-048 `Then there shall follow seven (years of famine) of great severity (and) these (years) shall consume all the stores you have laid by in advance for them except a little which you may have preserved. ثُمَّ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ سَبْع ٌ شِدَاد ٌ يَأْكُلْنَ مَا قَدَّمْتُمْ لَهُنَّ إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً مِمَّا تُحْصِنُونَ
Thumma Ya'tī Min Ba`di Dhālika `Āmun Fīhi Yughāthu An-Nāsu Wa Fīhi Ya`şirūna َ012-049 `Then, thereafter shall come a year of rains in which people shall be relieved and in which (season) they will press (fruit and seeds).´ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ عَام ٌ فِيه ِِ يُغَاثُ النَّاسُ وَفِيه ِِ يَعْصِرُونَ
Wa Qāla Al-Maliku A'tūnī Bihi  ۖ  Falammā Jā'ahu Ar-Rasūlu Qāla Arji` 'Ilá Rabbika Fās'alhu Mā Bālu An-Niswati Al-Lātī Qaţţa`na 'Aydiyahunna  ۚ  'Inna Rabbī Bikaydihinna `Alīmun َ012-050 And the King (after hearing the interpretation by Joseph) said, `Bring him to me!´ But when the messengers came to him he said, `Go back to your lord and ask him (on my behalf), `How does the matter (deserving of your attention) stands with regard to the women who cut their hands; for my Lord has full knowledge of their crafty designs.´ وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِه ِِ  ۖ  فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُ الرَّسُولُ قَالَ ارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ اللاَّتِي قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ  ۚ  إِنَّ رَبِّي بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيم ٌ
Qāla Mā Khaţbukunna 'Idh Rāwadttunna Yūsufa `An Nafsihi  ۚ  Qulna Ĥāsha Lillahi Mā `Alimnā `Alayhi Min Sū'in  ۚ  Qālati Amra'atu Al-`Azīzi Al-'Āna Ĥaşĥaşa Al-Ĥaqqu 'Anā Rāwadttuhu `An Nafsihi Wa 'Innahu Lamina Aş-Şādiqīna َ012-051 (The king then sent for the ladies and to them) he said, `What was that important matter (in reality) that you had in view when you sought to seduce Joseph against his will?´ They said, `He kept away (from committing sin) for the sake of Allâh. We did not perceive the least evil (intention) on his part.´ The wife of the `Azîz said, `Now the truth has come to light (at last). It was I who sought to seduce him against his will and most surely he is of the truthful.´ قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَاوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَنْ نَفْسِه ِِ  ۚ  قُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنْ سُوء ٍ  ۚ  قَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ الْعَزِيزِ الآنَ حَصْحَصَ الْحَقُّ أَنَا رَاوَدتُّه ُُ عَنْ نَفْسِه ِِ وَإِنَّه ُُ لَمِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Dhālika Liya`lama 'Annī Lam 'Akhunhu Bil-Ghaybi Wa 'Anna Al-Laha Lā Yahdī Kayda Al-Khā'inīna َ012-052 (When the news was brought to Joseph he said,) `This (course of action I adopted) so that he (- the `Azîz) might know that I had not betrayed him in (his) absence and that Allâh suffers not the device of the unfaithful to succeed.´ ذَلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِالْغَيْبِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي كَيْدَ الْخَائِنِينَ
Wa Mā 'Ubarri'u Nafsī  ۚ  'Inna An-Nafsa La'ammāratun Bis-Sū'i 'Illā Mā Raĥima Rabbī  ۚ  'Inna Rabbī Ghafūrun Raĥīmun َ012-053 `Yet I do not hold myself to be free from weakness, for human nature is surely prone to enjoin evil, except on whom my Lord has mercy. My Lord is of course Protector (against sins), Ever Merciful.´ وَمَا أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِي  ۚ  إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَة ٌ بِالسُّوءِ إِلاَّ مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّي  ۚ  إِنَّ رَبِّي غَفُور ٌ رَحِيم ٌ
Wa Qāla Al-Maliku A'tūnī Bihi 'Astakhlişhu Linafsī  ۖ  Falammā Kallamahu Qāla 'Innaka Al-Yawma Ladaynā Makīnun 'Amīnun َ012-054 And the king said, `Bring him to me. I will make him my special attache.´ And when he (- Joseph came and) spoke to him, he (- the king) said, `From this day you hold a (notable) position of honour (and) trust with us.´ وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ~ِ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِي  ۖ  فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَه ُُ قَالَ إِنَّكَ الْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِينٌ أَمِين ٌ
Qāla Aj`alnī `Alá Khazā'ini Al-'Arđi  ۖ  'Innī Ĥafīžun `Alīmun َ012-055 (Joseph) said, `Appoint me over the treasures (- granaries and stores) of the land, for I am a careful keeper and possessed of knowledge (of the Job).´ قَالَ اجْعَلْنِي عَلَى خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ  ۖ  إِنِّي حَفِيظٌ عَلِيم ٌ
Wa Kadhalika Makkannā Liyūsufa Fī Al-'Arđi Yatabawwa'u Minhā Ĥaythu Yashā'u  ۚ  Nuşību Biraĥmatinā Man Nashā'u  ۖ  Wa Lā Nuđī`u 'Ajra Al-Muĥsinīna َ012-056 That is how We granted Joseph high power in the country. He wielded authority therein wherever he chose. We bestow Our mercy on whomsoever We will and We suffer not the reward of the doers of excellent deeds to be lost. وَكَذَلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الأَرْضِ يَتَبَوَّأُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ  ۚ  نُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِنَا مَنْ نَشَاءُ  ۖ  وَلاَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa La'ajru Al-'Ākhirati Khayrun Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Kānū Yattaqūna َ012-057 Yet those who believe and have been guarding against sin and dutiful, shall have a much better reward in the Hereafter. وَلَأَجْرُ الآخِرَةِ خَيْر ٌ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ
Wa Jā'a 'Ikhwatu Yūsufa Fadakhalū `Alayhi Fa`arafahum Wa Hum Lahu Munkirūna َ012-058 And (in the years of famine) Joseph´s brothers came (from Kin`ân to Egypt) and they presented themselves to him. But though he knew them they recognized him not. وَجَاءَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَه ُُ مُنكِرُونَ
Wa Lammā Jahhazahum Bijahāzihim Qāla A'tūnī Bi'akhin Lakum Min 'Abīkum  ۚ  'Alā Tarawna 'Annī 'Ū Al-Kayla Wa 'Anā Khayru Al-Munzilīna َ012-059 When he had provided them with their provision he said, `(When you come next) bring me your brother from your father´s side. Do you not see that I give full measure (of corn) and I am the best of hosts? وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُمْ بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ائْتُونِي بِأَخ ٍ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَبِيكُمْ  ۚ  أَلاَ تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي أُوفِي الْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ
Fa'in Lam Ta'tūnī Bihi Falā Kayla Lakum `Indī Wa Lā Taqrabūni َ012-060 `But if you do not bring him to me, there shall be no more measure (of corn) for you from me, nor shall you find access to me.´ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَأْتُونِي بِه ِِ فَلاَ كَيْلَ لَكُمْ عِندِي وَلاَ تَقْرَبُونِ
Qālū Sanurāwidu `Anhu 'Abāhu Wa 'Innā Lafā`ilūna َ012-061 They said, `We will certainly persuade his father to part with him and we are sure to do (it).´ قَالُوا سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاه ُُ وَإِنَّا لَفَاعِلُونَ
Wa Qāla Lifityānihi Aj`alū Biđā`atahumRiĥālihim La`allahum Ya`rifūnahā 'Idhā Anqalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihim La`allahum Yarji`ūna َ012-062 And he said to his servants, `Put their cash (they paid for the corn) in their saddle-bags,´ (and to himself,) `that they may recognize it (as benevolence) when they return to their family and perhaps they may come back (with his brother on this account).´ وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَانِهِ اجْعَلُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَا إِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Falammā Raja`ū 'Ilá 'Abīhim Qālū Yā 'Abānā Muni`a Minnā Al-Kaylu Fa'arsil Ma`anā 'Akhānā Naktal Wa 'Innā Lahu Laĥāfižūna َ012-063 So when they returned to their father they said, `Our father! (a further) measure (of corn) has been denied us (unless we take our brother Benjamin with us), therefore send our brother with us that we may have (our) measure (of corn) and we will surely be able to take (due) care of him.´ فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا إِلَى أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَه ُُ لَحَافِظُونَ
Qāla Hal 'Āmanukum `Alayhi 'Illā Kamā 'Amintukum `Alá 'Akhīhi Min Qablu  ۖ  Fa-Allāhu Khayrun Ĥāfižāan  ۖ  Wa Huwa 'Arĥamu Ar-Rāĥimīna َ012-064 (Jacob) said, `Shall I trust you with him as I trusted you with his brother before? (I would rather trust Allâh.) Allâh is the best Guardian and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.´ قَالَ هَلْ آمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ كَمَا أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَى أَخِيه ِِ مِنْ قَبْلُ  ۖ  فَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظا ً  ۖ  وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Wa Lammā Fataĥū Matā`ahum Wa Jadū Biđā`atahum Ruddat 'Ilayhim  ۖ  Qālū Yā 'Abānā Mā Nabghī  ۖ  Hadhihi Biđā`atunā Ruddat 'Ilaynā  ۖ  Wa Namīru 'Ahlanā Wa Naĥfažu 'Akhānā Wa Nazdādu Kayla Ba`īrin  ۖ  Dhālika Kaylun Yasīrun َ012-065 And when they unpacked their goods they found their cash (too) returned to them. They said, `Our father! what more should we desire? Here is our cash returned to us. And (if Benjamin accompanies us we will make the best use of it,) we will bring food for our family and we will take care of our brother, and we shall have the measure of a camel-load in addition. That measure of corn (we have already brought) is a light one (and so little and insufficient). وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا مَتَاعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ  ۖ  قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِي  ۖ  هَذِه ِِ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا  ۖ  وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِير ٍ  ۖ  ذَلِكَ كَيْل ٌ يَسِير ٌ
Qāla Lan 'Ursilahu Ma`akum Ĥattá Tu'utūni Mawthiqāan Mina Al-Lahi Lata'tunanī Bihi 'Illā 'An Yuĥāţa Bikum  ۖ  Falammā 'Ātawhu Mawthiqahum Qāla Al-Lahu `Alá Mā Naqūlu Wa Kīlun َ012-066 He said, `Never will I send him with you until you give me a solemn pledge in the name of Allâh that you shall surely bring him to me unless it be that you yourselves are beset with difficult circumstances.´ When they had given him their solemn pledge he said, `Allâh shall be Guardian over what we have agreed.´ قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَه ُُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّى تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقا ً مِنَ اللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَنِي بِهِ~ِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ  ۖ  فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيل ٌ
Wa Qāla Yā Banīya Lā Tadkhulū Min Bābin Wāĥidin Wa Adkhulū Min 'Abwābin Mutafarriqatin  ۖ  Wa Mā 'Ughnī `Ankum Mina Al-Lahi Min Shay'in  ۖ  'Ini Al-Ĥukmu 'Illā Lillahi  ۖ  `Alayhi Tawakkaltu  ۖ  Wa `Alayhi Falyatawakkali Al-Mutawakkilūna َ012-067 And he also said (on their departure), `My sons! (reaching Egypt) enter (the city) not by one gate rather enter (it) by different gates. Yet I can avail you naught against (the decree of) Allâh. The decision only rests with Allâh. In Him do I put my trust and in Him let all who would trust, put their trust (in the like manner).´ وَقَالَ يَا بَنِيَّ لاَ تَدْخُلُوا مِنْ بَاب ٍ وَاحِد ٍ وَادْخُلُوا مِنْ أَبْوَاب ٍ مُتَفَرِّقَة ٍ  ۖ  وَمَا أُغْنِي عَنكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ  ۖ  إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلاَّ لِلَّهِ  ۖ  عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ  ۖ  وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
Wa Lammā Dakhalū Min Ĥaythu 'Amarahum 'Abūhum Mmā Kāna Yughnī `Anhum Mmina Al-Lahi Min Shay'in 'Illā Ĥājatan Fī Nafsi Ya`qūba Qađāhā  ۚ  Wa 'Innahu Ladhū `Ilmin Limā `Allamnāhu Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Ya`lamūna َ012-068 And when they entered the city after the manner their father had bidden them (Jacob´s object was achieved but) it could not at all help them against the decree of Allâh. All that it came to was that Jacob´s desire he had in his mind was (thus) satisfied (and his purpose achieved) and he was surely possessed of knowledge because We had imparted full knowledge to him. But most people do not know (these things). وَلَمَّا دَخَلُواْ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِي عَنْهُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ إِلاَّ حَاجَة ً فِي نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَاهَا  ۚ  وَإِنَّه ُُ لَذُو عِلْم ٍ لِمَا عَلَّمْنَاه ُُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Lammā Dakhalū `Alá Yūsufa 'Āwá 'Ilayhi 'Akhāhu  ۖ  Qāla 'Innī 'Anā 'Akhūka Falā Tabta'is Bimā Kānū Ya`malūna َ012-069 When they entered upon Joseph he betook his brother to himself for restful lodging (making him his personal guest). He (- Joseph) said (to Benjamin), `I am your (real) brother (Joseph), so now do not grieve over what they (- our other brothers) have been doing.´ وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَى يُوسُفَ آوَى إِلَيْهِ أَخَاه ُُ  ۖ  قَالَ إِنِّي أَنَا أَخُوكَ فَلاَ تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Falammā Jahhazahum Bijahāzihim Ja`ala As-Siqāyata Fī Raĥli 'Akhīhi Thumma 'Adhdhana Mu'uadhdhinun 'Ayyatuhā Al-`Īru 'Innakum Lasāriqūna َ012-070 When he had provided them with their provision (to set on a return journey), someone put a drinking cup in the saddle-bag of his brother (Benjamin). Then (it so happened that) a crier called, `O (men of) the caravan carrying the corn, you are most surely thieves.´ فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُمْ بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ السِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحْلِ أَخِيه ِِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا الْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَارِقُونَ
Qālū Wa 'Aqbalū `Alayhimdhā Tafqidūna َ012-071 They (- men of the caravan) said turning towards them (- the heralds), `What is it that you are missing?´ قَالُوا وَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ مَاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ
Qālū Nafqidu Şuwā`a Al-Maliki Wa Liman Jā'a Bihi Ĥimlu Ba`īrin Wa 'Anā Bihi Za`īmun َ012-072 They said, `We find the king´s measuring vessel missing´ and (added), `Whoever restores it shall receive a camel-load (of corn as a reward),´ (and one of them said), `I am surely responsible for it.´ قَالُوا نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ الْمَلِكِ وَلِمَنْ جَاءَ بِه ِِ حِمْلُ بَعِير ٍ وَأَنَا بِه ِِ زَعِيم ٌ
Qālū Ta-Allāhi Laqad `Alimtum Mā Ji'nā Linufsida Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Kunnā Sāriqīna َ012-073 They replied, `By Allâh, you know well that we did not come to commit mischief in this country, nor are we (professional) thieves.´ قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ مَا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَارِقِينَ
Qālū Famā Jazā'uuhu 'In Kuntumdhibīna َ012-074 They (- the Egyptians) said, `What shall be the punishment for this (theft) if you are (proved to be) liars?´ قَالُوا فَمَا جَزَاؤُهُ~ُ إِنْ كُنتُمْ كَاذِبِينَ
Qālū Jazā'uuhu Man Wujida Fī Raĥlihi Fahuwa Jazā'uuhu  ۚ  Kadhālika Naj Až-Žālimīna َ012-075 They replied, `The punishment for this is that he in whose saddle-bag this (vessel) is found shall himself be the penalty for it (and so he himself shall be confiscated as its forfeit). This is how we punish the wrong doers.´ قَالُوا جَزَاؤُه ُُ مَنْ وُجِدَ فِي رَحْلِه ِِ فَهُوَ جَزَاؤُه ُُ  ۚ  كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ
Fabada'a Bi'aw`iyatihim Qabla Wi`ā'i 'Akhīhi Thumma Astakhrajahā Min Wi`ā'i 'Akhīhi  ۚ  Kadhālika Kidnā Liyūsufa  ۖ  Mā Kāna Liya'khudha 'Akhāhu Fī Dīni Al-Maliki 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Al-Lahu  ۚ  Narfa`u Darajātin Man Nashā'u  ۗ  Wa Fawqa Kulli Dhī `Ilmin `Alīmun َ012-076 Then he (- the king´s herald) began (the search) with the sacks of others before (he came to) the sack of his (- Joseph´s) brother (Benjamin). (Finding the vessel therein) he brought it out of his brother´s sack. That is how We contrived for Joseph (to keep Benjamin with him, otherwise) he could not have taken his brother according to the king´s law. Yet it came about as Allâh willed. We raise in degrees (of rank) whomsoever We will. And over and above every possessor of knowledge there is One (Almighty God), Who is All Knowing. فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَاءِ أَخِيه ِِ ثُمَّ اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ وِعَاءِ أَخِيه ِِ  ۚ  كَذَلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ  ۖ  مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاه ُُ فِي دِينِ الْمَلِكِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ  ۚ  نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَات ٍ مَنْ نَشَاءُ  ۗ  وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيم ٌ
Qālū 'In Yasriq Faqad Saraqa 'Akhun Lahu Min Qablu  ۚ  Fa'asarrahā Yūsufu Fī Nafsihi Wa Lam Yubdihā Lahum  ۚ  Qāla 'Antum Sharrun Makānāan Wa  ۖ  Allāhu 'A`lamu Bimā Taşifūna َ012-077 (Joseph´s brothers) said, `If he has stolen, (no wonder) a brother of his had (also) committed theft before (this).´ But Joseph kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He (simply) said, `You are a worse case and Allâh knows best what you are alleging.´ قَالُوا إِنْ يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخ ٌ لَه ُُ مِنْ قَبْلُ  ۚ  فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفْسِه ِِ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ  ۚ  قَالَ أَنْتُمْ شَرّ ٌ مَكَانا ً  ۖ  وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ
Qālū Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-`Azīzu 'Inna Lahu 'Abāan Shaykhāan Kabīrāan Fakhudh 'Aĥadanā Makānahu  ۖ  'Innā Narāka Mina Al-Muĥsinīna َ012-078 (Brothers of Joseph) said, `O noble chief! surely he has an old father, advanced in years, so retain one of us in his place. Surely, we see you to be of the doers of good (to all).´ قَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُ~ُ أَبا ً شَيْخا ً كَبِيرا ً فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُ~ُ  ۖ  إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Qāla Ma`ādha Al-Lahi 'An Na'khudha 'Illā Man Wajadnā Matā`anā `Indahu 'Innā 'Idhāan Lažālimūna َ012-079 He said, `God forbid that we take anyone except the one with whom we found our property, for (otherwise) we would, of course, be unjust.´ قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ أَنْ نَأْخُذَ إِلاَّ مَنْ وَجَدْنَا مَتَاعَنَا عِنْدَهُ~ُ إِنَّا إِذا ً لَظَالِمُونَ
Falammā Astay'asū Minhu Khalaşū Najīyāan  ۖ  Qāla Kabīruhum 'Alam Ta`lamū 'Anna 'Abākum Qad 'Akhadha `Alaykum Mawthiqāan Mina Al-Lahi Wa Min Qablu Mā Farraţtum Fī Yūsufa  ۖ  Falan 'Abraĥa Al-'Arđa Ĥattá Ya'dhana Lī 'Abī 'Aw Yaĥkuma Al-Lahu Lī  ۖ  Wa Huwa Khayru Al-Ĥākimīna َ012-080 When they were despaired of (moving) him, they retired to confer together in private. One of their leaders said, `Are you not aware that your father has bound you to a solemn pledge in the name of Allâh? And how before this, you fell short of your duty in respect of Joseph? Never will I, therefore, leave this land until my father gives me permission or Allâh, Who is the best of Judges, decides (the matter) for me. فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْئَسُوا مِنْهُ خَلَصُوا نَجِيّا ً  ۖ  قَالَ كَبِيرُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ أَبَاكُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُمْ مَوْثِقا ً مِنَ اللَّهِ وَمِنْ قَبْلُ مَا فَرَّطتُمْ فِي يُوسُفَ  ۖ  فَلَنْ أَبْرَحَ الأَرْضَ حَتَّى يَأْذَنَ لِي أَبِي أَوْ يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ لِي  ۖ  وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ
Arji`ū 'Ilá 'Abīkum Faqūlū Yā 'Abānā 'Inna Abnaka Saraqa Wa Mā Shahidnā 'Illā Bimā `Alimnā Wa Mā Kunnā Lilghaybi Ĥāfižīna َ012-081 `Return all of you to your father and say, "Our father! your son has committed the theft, and we say no more than what we know (and we did not witness him stealing), and we could not be guardians over what was unseen (by us). ارْجِعُوا إِلَى أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُوا يَا أَبَانَا إِنَّ ابْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَا إِلاَّ بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَافِظِينَ
Wa As'ali Al-Qaryata Allatī Kunnā Fīhā Wa Al-`Īra Allatī 'Aqbalnā Fīhā  ۖ  Wa 'Innā Laşādiqūna َ012-082 And you may inquire of (the inhabitants of) the city we were in, and of (the people of) the caravan carrying the corn we accompanied. We speak nothing but the truth.´ وَاسْأَلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِي كُنَّا فِيهَا وَالْعِيرَ الَّتِي أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا  ۖ  وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ
Qāla Bal Sawwalat Lakum 'Anfusukum 'Amrāan  ۖ  Faşabrun Jamīlun  ۖ  `Asá Al-Lahu 'An Ya'tiyanī Bihim Jamī`āan  ۚ  'Innahu Huwa Al-`Alīmu Al-Ĥakīmu َ012-083 (So when, reaching home Jacob´s sons gave all this information to him, Jacob) said, `Nay, it is not so, rather your (baser) selves have embellished to you an other (abominable) thing. So (now showing) patience is befitting. It is not far from (the grace of) Allâh to bring them all to me for He is indeed the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.´ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرا ً  ۖ  فَصَبْر ٌ جَمِيلٌ  ۖ  عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعا ً  ۚ  إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ
Wa Tawallá `Anhum Wa Qāla Yā 'Asafá `Alá Yūsufa Wa Abyađđat `Aynāhu Mina Al-Ĥuzni Fahuwa Kažīmun َ012-084 And he turned away from them and said, `O my grief for Joseph!´ and his eyes were drowned (with tears) for the pangs of grief and he was suppressing (his sorrow). وَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا أَسَفَى عَلَى يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاه ُُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيم ٌ
Qālū Ta-Allāhi Tafta'u Tadhkuru Yūsufa Ĥattá Takūna Ĥarađāan 'Aw Takūna Mina Al-Hālikīna َ012-085 They said, `By Allâh! you will not cease mentioning Joseph until you are consumed away (for some disease) or become of the perished.´ قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ حَرَضاً أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ
Qāla 'Innamā 'Ashkū Baththī Wa Ĥuznī 'Ilá Al-Lahi Wa 'A`lamu Mina Al-Lahi Mā Lā Ta`lamūna َ012-086 He replied, `I complain of my anguish and of my sorrow to Allâh alone. I know from Allâh what you do not know. قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Yā Banīya Adh/habū Fataĥassasū Min Yūsufa Wa 'Akhīhi Wa Lā Tay'asū Min Rawĥi Al-Lahi  ۖ  'Innahu Lā Yay'asu Min Rawĥi Al-Lahi 'Illā Al-Qawmu Al-Kāfirūna َ012-087 `Go, my sons, and make a thorough search for Joseph and his brother. Do not despair of Allâh´s soothing mercy. Verily, none but the people who deny (the truth) can ever lose hope of Allâh´s soothing mercy.´ يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوا فَتَحَسَّسُوا مِنْ يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيه ِِ وَلاَ تَيْئَسُوا مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ  ۖ  إِنَّهُ لاَ يَيْئَسُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الكَافِرُونَ
Falammā Dakhalū `Alayhi Qālū Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-`Azīzu Massanā Wa 'Ahlanā Ađ-Đurru Wa Ji'nā Bibiđā`atin Muzjāatin Fa'awfi Lanā Al-Kayla Wa Taşaddaq `Alaynā  ۖ  'Inna Al-Laha Yaj Al-Mutaşaddiqīna َ012-088 And when they (- Joseph´s brothers) came again before him (- Joseph) they said, `O noble chief! distress and poverty (due to famine) has befallen us and our family. We have brought only a scanty amount of money. Give us (nonetheless) full measure (of corn) and show us charity. Surely, Allâh rewards the charitable.´ فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ مَسَّنَا وَأَهْلَنَا الضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا بِبِضَاعَة ٍ مُزْجَاة ٍ فَأَوْفِ لَنَا الْكَيْلَ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْنَا  ۖ  إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَجْزِي الْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
Qāla Hal `Alimtum Mā Fa`altum Biyūsufa Wa 'Akhīhi 'Idh 'Antum Jāhilūna َ012-089 (Joseph) said, `Are you aware what you did to Joseph and his brother (- Benjamin to involve him in trouble) in your ignorance?´ قَالَ هَلْ عَلِمْتُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ بِيُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ~ِ إِذْ أَنْتُمْ جَاهِلُونَ
Qālū 'A'innaka La'anta Yūsufu  ۖ  Qāla 'Anā Yūsufu Wa Hadhā 'Akhī  ۖ  Qad Manna Al-Lahu `Alaynā  ۖ  'Innahu Man Yattaqi Wa Yaşbir Fa'inna Al-Laha Lā Yuđī`u 'Ajra Al-Muĥsinīna َ012-090 They (were startled and) said, `Are you (Joseph)? Yes you are Joseph indeed!´ He said, `(Yes) I am Joseph, and this is my brother (Benjamin), Allâh has indeed been gracious to us. As a matter of fact, he who guards against evil (seeking refuge in Him) and patiently perseveres, will find that Allâh suffers not the reward of the doers of good to others to be lost.´ قَالُوا أَئِنَّكَ لَأَنْتَ يُوسُفُ  ۖ  قَالَ أَنَا يُوسُفُ وَهَذَا أَخِي  ۖ  قَدْ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا  ۖ  إِنَّه ُُ مَنْ يَتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Qālū Ta-Allāhi Laqad 'Ātharaka Al-Lahu `Alaynā Wa 'In Kunnā Lakhāţi'īna َ012-091 They said, `By Allâh, Allâh has surely exalted you above us and we have indeed been guilty.´ قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ آثَرَكَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنْ كُنَّا لَخَاطِئِينَ
Qāla Lā Tathrība `Alaykumu Al-Yawma  ۖ  Yaghfiru Al-Lahu Lakum  ۖ  Wa Huwa 'Arĥamu Ar-Rāĥimīna َ012-092 (Joseph) said, `No reproach (from me shall be) on you this day. May Allâh forgive you; He is the Most Merciful to those who show mercy. قَالَ لاَ تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ  ۖ  يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ  ۖ  وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Adh/habū Biqamīşī Hādhā Fa'alqūhu `Alá Wajhi 'Abī Ya'ti Başīrāan Wa 'Tūnī Bi'ahlikum 'Ajma`īna َ012-093 `Go with this my shirt and lay it before my father he will come to know (the whole affair and as well believe). And bring to me the whole of your family.´ اذْهَبُوا بِقَمِيصِي هَذَا فَأَلْقُوه ُُ عَلَى وَجْهِ أَبِي يَأْتِ بَصِيرا ً وَأْتُونِي بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Wa Lammā Faşalati Al-`Īru Qāla 'Abūhum 'Innī La'ajidu Rīĥa Yūsufa  ۖ  Lawlā 'An Tufannidūni َ012-094 So when the caravan with the corn departed (from Egypt) their father said (in Kin`ân), `If you do not pronounce my judgment to be weak and unsound (let me tell you that) I do scent the power of Joseph.´ وَلَمَّا فَصَلَتِ الْعِيرُ قَالَ أَبُوهُمْ إِنِّي لَأَجِدُ رِيحَ يُوسُفَ  ۖ  لَوْلاَ أَنْ تُفَنِّدُونِ
Qālū Ta-Allāhi 'Innaka Lafī Đalālika Al-Qadīmi َ012-095 They (- people of Joseph´s household) said, `By Allâh! you are (still) suffering from your old delusion.´ قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَفِي ضَلاَلِكَ الْقَدِيمِ
Falammā 'An Jā'a Al-Bashīru 'Alqāhu `Alá Wajhihi Fārtadda Başīrāan Qāla  ۖ  'Alam 'Aqul Lakum 'Innī 'A`lamu Mina Al-Lahi Mā Lā Ta`lamūna َ012-096 And when the bearer of the happy tidings came (to Jacob) he laid it (- the shirt) before him and he became enlightened (about the true state of affairs), he said, `Did I not tell you I know from Allâh what you do not know.´ فَلَمَّا أَنْ جَاءَ الْبَشِيرُ أَلْقَاه ُُ عَلَى وَجْهِه ِِ فَارْتَدَّ بَصِيرا ً  ۖ  قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Qālū Yā 'Abānā Astaghfir Lanā Dhunūbanā 'Innā Kunnā Khāţi'īna َ012-097 They said, `Our father! pray that our sins are forgiven to us, for certainly we have been sinful.´ قَالُوا يَاأَبَانَا اسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا خَاطِئِينَ
Qāla Sawfa 'Astaghfiru Lakum Rabbī  ۖ  'Innahu Huwa Al-Ghafūru Ar-Raĥīmu َ012-098 He (- Jacob) said, `I will certainly pray to my Lord to forgive you. Surely, He is the Most Forgiving, the Ever Merciful.´ قَالَ سَوْفَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ رَبِّي  ۖ  إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Falammā Dakhalū `Alá Yūsufa 'Āwá 'Ilayhi 'Abawayhi Wa Qāla Adkhulū Mişra 'In Shā'a Al-Lahu 'Āminīna َ012-099 And when they all came to Joseph he betook his parents to himself for a restful lodging (making them his personal guests) and said, `Enter the city, if Allâh will, you shall always be safe and secure.´ فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَى يُوسُفَ آوَى إِلَيْهِ أَبَوَيْهِ وَقَالَ ادْخُلُوا مِصْرَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ آمِنِينَ
Wa Rafa`a 'Abawayhi `Alá Al-`Arshi Wa Kharrū Lahu Sujjadāan  ۖ  Wa Qāla Yā 'Abati Hādhā Ta'wīlu Ru'uyā Y Min Qablu Qad Ja`alahā Rabbī  ۖ  Ĥaqqāan Wa Qad 'Aĥsana Bī 'Idh 'Akhrajanī Mina As-Sijni Wa Jā'a Bikum Mina Al-Badwi Min Ba`di 'An Nazagha Ash-Shayţānu Baynī Wa Bayna  ۚ  'Ikhwatī 'Inna Rabbī Laţīfun Limā  ۚ  Yashā'u 'Innahu Huwa Al-`Alīmu Al-Ĥakīmu َ012-100 And he took his parents to the royal court and they all fell down prostrate (before God) because of him and he said, `My father! this is the real fulfillment of my vision of old. My Lord has made it come true. He has been gracious to me, indeed, when he released me out of the prison and brought you from the desert. (This all happened) after satan had stirred up discord between me and my brothers. Surely, my Lord is Benignant to whomsoever He pleases. He it is, Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.´ وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا لَه ُُ سُجَّدا ً  ۖ  وَقَالَ يَاأَبَتِ هَذَا تَأْوِيلُ رُؤْيَاي مِنْ قَبْلُ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّي حَقّا ً وَقَدْ  ۖ  أَحْسَنَ بِي إِذْ أَخْرَجَنِي مِنَ السِّجْنِ وَجَاءَ بِكُمْ مِنَ الْبَدْوِ مِنْ بَعْدِ أَنْ نَزَغَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ إِخْوَتِي إِنَّ  ۚ  رَبِّي لَطِيف ٌ لِمَا يَشَاءُ إِنَّه ُُ  ۚ  هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ
Rabbi Qad 'Ātaytanī Mina Al-Mulki Wa `Allamtanī Min Ta'wīli Al-'Aĥādīthi  ۚ  Fāţira As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi 'Anta Wa Līyi Fī Ad-Dunyā Wa Al-'Ākhirati  ۖ  Tawaffanī Muslimāan Wa 'Alĥiqnī Biş-Şāliĥīna َ012-101 (Addressing his Lord, Joseph then said,) `My Lord! You have bestowed a part of the sovereignty upon me and it is You Who have imparted me true knowledge of the significance of (divine) sayings. O You, the Originator of the heavens and the earth! You alone are my Patron in this world and the Hereafter. Let it be that I die in a state of complete submission (to You), let it be that I join the righteous.´ رَبِّ قَدْ آتَيْتَنِي مِنَ الْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِي مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الأَحَادِيثِ  ۚ  فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ  ۖ  تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِما ً وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
Dhālika Min 'Anbā'i Al-Ghaybi Nūĥīhi 'Ilayka  ۖ  Wa Mā Kunta Ladayhim 'Idh 'Ajma`ū 'Amrahum Wa Hum Yamkurūna َ012-102 (Prophet!) this (narrative) is a part of the important news of the hidden realities which We reveal to you. You were not present with these (enemies of yours) when they agreed upon their plan (against you) and they are (still) hatching subtle plots. ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ~ِ إِلَيْكَ  ۖ  وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ أَجْمَعُوا أَمْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَمْكُرُونَ
Wa Mā 'Aktharu An-Nāsi Wa Law Ĥaraşta Bimu'uminīna َ012-103 And many people, even though you ardently desire (it), will not at all believe. وَمَا أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Mā Tas'aluhum `Alayhi Min 'Ajrin  ۚ  'In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna َ012-104 While you ask from them no wages for it (- bringing this teaching contained in the Qur´ân). On the other hand this (Qur´ân) is but (a source of) eminence and glory for all mankind. وَمَا تَسْأَلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْر ٍ  ۚ  إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْر ٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Wa Ka'ayyin Min 'Āyatin As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Yamurrūna `Alayhā Wa Hum `Anhā Mu`rūna َ012-105 And many are the signs in the heavens and the earth, which they pass by turning away (arrogantly) from them. وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ آيَة ٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ
Wa Mā Yu'uminu 'Aktharuhum Bil-Lahi 'Illā Wa Hum Mushrikūna َ012-106 Infact, most of them believe not in Allâh without (at the same time) ascribing partners (to Him). وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلاَّ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ
'Afa'aminū 'An Ta'tiyahum Ghāshiyatun Min `Adhābi Al-Lahi 'Aw Ta'tiyahumu As-Sā`atu Baghtatan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna َ012-107 Do they then, feel secure from the coming of an overwhelming punishment on them from Allâh, or the sudden coming of the Hour upon them, taking them unawares. أَفَأَمِنُوا أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَاشِيَة ٌ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَة ً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
Qul Hadhihi Sabīlī 'Ad`ū 'Ilá Al-Lahi  ۚ  `Alá Başīratin 'Anā Wa Mani Attaba`anī  ۖ  Wa Subĥāna Al-Lahi Wa Mā 'Anā Mina Al-Mushrikīna َ012-108 Say, `This is my path. I call to Allâh. I am on sure knowledge verifiable by reason and (so are) those who follow me. (I believe that) Holy is Allâh. I am not of the polytheists.´ قُلْ هَذِه ِِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ  ۚ  عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي  ۖ  وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Min Qablika 'Illā Rijālāan Nūĥī 'Ilayhim Min 'Ahli Al-Qurá  ۗ  'Afalam Yasīrū Fī Al-'Arđi Fayanžurū Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim  ۗ  Wa Ladāru Al-'Ākhirati Khayrun Lilladhīna Attaqaw  ۗ  'Afalā Ta`qilūna َ012-109 And We sent none (as Messengers) before you but they were men from among the people of the townships to whom We revealed (Our will). Have they not then journeyed in the land and seen how was the end of their predecessors? Indeed, the abode of the Hereafter holds out better promises for those who guard against evil and keep their duty. Will you not then refrain (from disbelief and unrighteous deeds)? وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلاَّ رِجَالا ً نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى  ۗ  أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ  ۗ  وَلَدَارُ الآخِرَةِ خَيْر ٌ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا  ۗ  أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ
Ĥattá 'Idhā Astay'asa Ar-Rusulu Wa Žannū 'Annahum Qad Kudhibū Jā'ahum Naşrunā Fanujjiya Man Nashā'u  ۖ  Wa Lā Yuraddu Ba'sunā `Ani Al-Qawmi Al-Mujrimīna َ012-110 (It always happened with the previous Messengers as well, they went on with their teachings) till when those Messengers despaired (of believing on the part of their people) and they (the people of their nation) thought that they have been told only lies (in the name of revelations), Our help reached these (Messengers) suddenly, delivering those whom We pleased. Surely, Our punishment is not averted from the people who sever their ties (with Us). حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا فَنُجِّيَ مَنْ نَشَاءُ  ۖ  وَلاَ يُرَدُّ بَأْسُنَا عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
Laqad Kāna Fī Qaşaşihim `Ibratun Li'wlī Al-'Albābi  ۗ  Mā Kāna Ĥadīthāan Yuftará Wa Lakin Taşdīqa Al-Ladhī Bayna Yadayhi Wa Tafşīla Kulli Shay'in Wa Hudáan Wa Raĥmatan Liqawmin Yu'uminūna َ012-111 Most assuredly the narratives of the people (gone by) contain lessons for the people possessed of pure and clear understanding. This (Qur´ân) is no forged narrative. It is a fulfillment of those (prophecies contained in the Scriptures) which were before it and is a detailed exposition of all things, and a guide, and a mercy to a people who believe. لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَة ٌ لِأوْلِي الأَلْبَابِ  ۗ  مَا كَانَ حَدِيثا ً يُفْتَرَى وَلَكِنْ تَصْدِيقَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ وَهُدى ً وَرَحْمَة ً لِقَوْم ٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
