Wa An-Nāzi`āti Gharqāan | 079.001 By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; |
Wa An-Nāshiţāti Nashţāan | 079.002 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); |
Wa As-Sābiĥāti Sabĥāan | 079.003 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), |
Fālssābiqāti Sabqāan | 079.004 Then press forward as in a race, |
Fālmudabbirāti 'Amrāan | 079.005 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), |
Yawma Tarjufu Ar-Rājifahu | 079.006 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, |
Tatba`uhā Ar-Rādifahu | 079.007 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): |
Qulūbun Yawma'idhin Wājifahun | 079.008 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; |
'Abşāruhā Khāshi`ahun | 079.009 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. |
Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Lamardūdūna Fī Al-Ĥāfirahi | 079.010 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? |
'A'idhā Kunnā `Ižāmāan Nakhirahan | 079.011 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" |
Qālū Tilka 'Idhāan Karratun Khāsirahun | 079.012 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" |
Fa'innamā Hiya Zajratun Wāĥidahun | 079.013 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, |
Fa'idhā Hum Bis-Sāhirahi | 079.014 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). |
Hal 'Tāka Ĥadīthu Mūsá | 079.015 Has the story of Moses reached thee? |
'Idh Nādāhu Rabbuhu Bil-Wādi Al-Muqaddasi Ţūáan | 079.016 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- |
Adh/hab 'Ilá Fir`awna 'Innahu Ţaghá | 079.017 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: |
Faqul Hal Laka 'Ilá 'An Tazakká | 079.018 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- |
Wa 'Ahdiyaka 'Ilá Rabbika Fatakhshá | 079.019 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" |
Fa'arāhu Al-'Āyata Al-Kubrá | 079.020 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. |
Fakadhdhaba Wa `Aşá | 079.021 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); |
Thumma 'Adbara Yas`á | 079.022 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against God). |
Faĥashara Fanādá | 079.023 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, |
Faqāla 'Anā Rabbukumu Al-'A`lá | 079.024 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". |
Fa'akhadhahu Al-Lahu Nakāla Al-'Ākhirati Wa Al-'Ūlá | 079.025 But God did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. |
'Inna Fī Dhālika La`ibratan Liman Yakhshá | 079.026 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (God). |
'A'antum 'Ashaddu Khalqāan 'Ami As-Samā'u Banāhā | 079.027 What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (God) hath constructed it: |
Rafa`a Samkahā Fasawwāhā | 079.028 On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection. |
Wa 'Aghţasha Laylahā Wa 'Akhraja Đuĥāhā | 079.029 Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light). |
Wa Al-'Arđa Ba`da Dhālika Daĥāhā | 079.030 And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse); |
'Akhraja Minhā Mā'ahā Wa Mar`āhā | 079.031 He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture; |
Wa Al-Jibāla 'Arsāhā | 079.032 And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;- |
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum | 079.033 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. |
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aţ-Ţāmmatu Al-Kubrá | 079.034 Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),- |
Yawma Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Mā Sa`á | 079.035 The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for, |
Wa Burrizati Al-Jaĥīmu Liman Yará | 079.036 And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,- |
Fa'ammā Man Ţaghá | 079.037 Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds, |
Wa 'Āthara Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā | 079.038 And had preferred the life of this world, |
Fa'inna Al-Jaĥīma Hiya Al-Ma'wá | 079.039 The Abode will be Hell-Fire; |
Wa 'Ammā Man Khāfa Maqāma Rabbihi Wa Nahá An-Nafsa `Ani Al-Hawá | 079.040 And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires, |
Fa'inna Al-Jannata Hiya Al-Ma'wá | 079.041 Their abode will be the Garden. |
Yas'alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati 'Ayyāna Mursāhā | 079.042 They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time? |
Fīma 'Anta Min Dhikrāhā | 079.043 Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof? |
'Ilá Rabbika Muntahāhā | 079.044 With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor. |
'Innamā 'Anta Mundhiru Man Yakhshāhā | 079.045 Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it. |
Ka'annahum Yawma Yarawnahā Lam Yalbathū 'Illā `Ashīyatan 'Aw Đuĥāhā | 079.046 The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn! |
