Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Muddaththiru | O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:1) |
Qum Fa'andhir | Arise and warn! (Al-Muddaththir 74:2) |
Wa Rabbaka Fakabbir | And your Lord (Allāh) magnify! (Al-Muddaththir 74:3) |
Wa Thiyābaka Faţahhir | And your garments purify! (Al-Muddaththir 74:4) |
Wa Ar-Rujza Fāhjur | And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:5) |
Wa Lā Tamnun Tastakthiru | And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allāh's obedience as a favour to Allāh). (Al-Muddaththir 74:6) |
Wa Lirabbika Fāşbir | And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allāh)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:7) |
Fa'idhā Nuqira Fī An-Nāqūri | Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (Al-Muddaththir 74:8) |
Fadhālika Yawma'idhin Yawmun `Asīrun | Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. (Al-Muddaththir 74:9) |
`Alá Al-Kāfirīna Ghayru Yasīrin | Far from easy for the disbelievers. (Al-Muddaththir 74:10) |
Dharnī Wa Man Khalaqtu Waĥīdāan | Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walīd bin Al-Mughīrah Al-Makhzûmī)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:11) |
Wa Ja`altu Lahu Mālāan Mamdūdāan | And then granted him resources in abundance. (Al-Muddaththir 74:12) |
Wa Banīna Shuhūdāan | And children to be by his side! (Al-Muddaththir 74:13) |
Wa Mahhadtu Lahu Tamhīdāan | And made life smooth and comfortable for him! (Al-Muddaththir 74:14) |
Thumma Yaţma`u 'An 'Azīda | After all that he desires that I should give more; (Al-Muddaththir 74:15) |
Kallā 'Innahu Kāna Li'yātinā `Anīdāan | Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). (Al-Muddaththir 74:16) |
Sa'urhiquhu Şa`ūdāan | I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called AsSa'ûd, or to) face a severe torment! (Al-Muddaththir 74:17) |
'Innahu Fakkara Wa Qaddara | Verily, he thought and plotted; (Al-Muddaththir 74:18) |
Faqutila Kayfa Qaddara | So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (Al-Muddaththir 74:19) |
Thumma Qutila Kayfa Qaddara | And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! (Al-Muddaththir 74:20) |
Thumma Nažara | Then he thought; (Al-Muddaththir 74:21) |
Thumma `Abasa Wa Basara | Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; (Al-Muddaththir 74:22) |
Thumma 'Adbara Wa Astakbara | Then he turned back and was proud; (Al-Muddaththir 74:23) |
Faqāla 'In Hādhā 'Illā Siĥrun Yu'utharu | Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; (Al-Muddaththir 74:24) |
'In Hādhā 'Illā Qawlu Al-Bashari | "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" (Al-Muddaththir 74:25) |
Sa'uşlīhi Saqara | I will cast him into Hell-fire (Al-Muddaththir 74:26) |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Saqaru | And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? (Al-Muddaththir 74:27) |
Lā Tubqī Wa Lā Tadharu | It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:28) |
Lawwāĥatun Lilbashari | Burning the skins! (Al-Muddaththir 74:29) |
`Alayhā Tis`ata `Ashara | Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). (Al-Muddaththir 74:30) |
Wa Mā Ja`alnā 'Aşĥāba An-Nāri 'Illā Malā'ikatan Wa Mā Ja`alnā `Iddatahum 'Illā Fitnatan Lilladhīna Kafarū Liyastayqina Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-Kitāba Wa Yazdāda Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Īmānāan Wa Lā Yartāba Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-Kitāba Wa Al-Mu'uminūna Wa Liyaqūla Al-Ladhīna Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Wa Al-Kāfirūna Mādhā 'Arāda Al-Lahu Bihadhā Mathalāan Kadhālika Yuđillu Al-Lahu Man Yashā'u Wa Yahdī Man Yashā'u Wa Mā Ya`lamu Junūda Rabbika 'Illā Huwa Wa Mā Hiya 'Illā Dhikrá Lilbashari | And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Qur'ān is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurāt (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Qur'ān is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allāh intends by this (curious) example ?" Thus Allāh leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (Al-Muddaththir 74:31) |
Kallā Wa Al-Qamari | Nay, and by the moon, (Al-Muddaththir 74:32) |
Wa Al-Layli 'Idh 'Adbara | And by the night when it withdraws, (Al-Muddaththir 74:33) |
Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā 'Asfara | And by the dawn when it brightens, (Al-Muddaththir 74:34) |
'Innahā La'iĥdá Al-Kubari | Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW , or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. (Al-Muddaththir 74:35) |
Nadhīrāan Lilbashari | A warning to mankind, (Al-Muddaththir 74:36) |
Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yataqaddama 'Aw Yata'akhkhara | To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), (Al-Muddaththir 74:37) |
Kullu Nafsin Bimā Kasabat Rahīnahun | Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, (Al-Muddaththir 74:38) |
'Illā 'Aşĥāba Al-Yamīni | Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islāmic Monotheism); (Al-Muddaththir 74:39) |
Fī Jannātin Yatasā'alūna | In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, (Al-Muddaththir 74:40) |
`Ani Al-Mujrimīna | About Al-Mujrimûn (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): (Al-Muddaththir 74:41) |
Mā Salakakum Fī Saqara | "What has caused you to enter Hell?" (Al-Muddaththir 74:42) |
Qālū Lam Naku Mina Al-Muşallīna | They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salāt (prayers). (Al-Muddaththir 74:43) |
Wa Lam Naku Nuţ`imu Al-Miskīna | "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); (Al-Muddaththir 74:44) |
Wa Kunnā Nakhūđu Ma`a Al-Khā'iđīna | "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allāh hated) with vain talkers. (Al-Muddaththir 74:45) |
Wa Kunnā Nukadhdhibu Biyawmi Ad-Dīni | "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense. (Al-Muddaththir 74:46) |
Ĥattá 'Atānā Al-Yaqīnu | "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." (Al-Muddaththir 74:47) |
Famā Tanfa`uhum Shafā`atu Ash-Shāfi`īna | So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. (Al-Muddaththir 74:48) |
Famā Lahum `Ani At-Tadhkirati Mu`riđīna | Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? (Al-Muddaththir 74:49) |
Ka'annahum Ĥumurun Mustanfirahun | As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. (Al-Muddaththir 74:50) |
Farrat Min Qaswarahin | Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey (Al-Muddaththir 74:51) |
Bal Yurīdu Kullu Amri'in Minhum 'An Yu'utá Şuĥufāan Munashsharahan | Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allāh with a writing that Islām is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allāh the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). (Al-Muddaththir 74:52) |
Kallā Bal Lā Yakhāfūna Al-'Ākhiraha | Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allāh's punishment). (Al-Muddaththir 74:53) |
Kallā 'Innahu Tadhkirahun | Nay, verily, this (Qur'ān) is an admonition, (Al-Muddaththir 74:54) |
Faman Shā'a Dhakarahu | So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! (Al-Muddaththir 74:55) |
Wa Mā Yadhkurūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Al-Lahu Huwa 'Ahlu At-Taqwá Wa 'Ahlu Al-Maghfirahi | And they will not receive admonition unless Allāh wills; He (Allāh) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilāh (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). (Al-Muddaththir 74:56) |
