Ĥā-Mīm | Hā-Mīm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ān and none but Allāh (Alone) knows their meanings]. (Ad-Dukhan 44:1) |
Wa Al-Kitābi Al-Mubīni | By the manifest Book (this Qur'ān) that makes things clear, (Ad-Dukhan 44:2) |
'Innā 'Anzalnāhu Fī Laylatin Mubārakatin 'Innā Kunnā Mundhirīna | We sent it (this Qur'ān) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Sûrah No: 97) in the month of Ramadān,, the 9th month of the Islāmic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. (Ad-Dukhan 44:3) |
Fīhā Yufraqu Kullu 'Amrin Ĥakīmin | Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. (Ad-Dukhan 44:4) |
'Amrāan Min `Indinā 'Innā Kunnā Mursilīna | Amran (i.e. a Command or this Qur'an or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), (Ad-Dukhan 44:5) |
Raĥmatan Min Rabbika 'Innahu Huwa As-Samī`u Al-`Alīmu | (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (Ad-Dukhan 44:6) |
Rabbi As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā 'In Kuntum Mūqinīna | The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. (Ad-Dukhan 44:7) |
Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa Yuĥyī Wa Yumītu Rabbukum Wa Rabbu 'Ābā'ikumu Al-'Awwalīna | Lā ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. (Ad-Dukhan 44:8) |
Bal Hum Fī Shakkin Yal`abūna | Nay! They play in doubt. (Ad-Dukhan 44:9) |
Fārtaqib Yawma Ta'tī As-Samā'u Bidukhānin Mubīnin | Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. (Ad-Dukhan 44:10) |
Yaghshá An-Nāsa Hādhā `Adhābun 'Alīmun | Covering the people, this is a painful torment. (Ad-Dukhan 44:11) |
Rabbanā Akshif `Annā Al-`Adhāba 'Innā Mu'uminūna | (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" (Ad-Dukhan 44:12) |
'Anná Lahumu Adh-Dhikrá Wa Qad Jā'ahum Rasūlun Mubīnun | How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them. (Ad-Dukhan 44:13) |
Thumma Tawallaw `Anhu Wa Qālū Mu`allamun Majnūnun | Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" (Ad-Dukhan 44:14) |
'Innā Kāshifū Al-`Adhābi Qalīlāan 'Innakum `Ā'idūna | Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. (Ad-Dukhan 44:15) |
Yawma Nabţishu Al-Baţshata Al-Kubrá 'Innā Muntaqimūna | On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. (Ad-Dukhan 44:16) |
Wa Laqad Fatannā Qablahum Qawma Fir`awna Wa Jā'ahum Rasūlun Karīmun | And indeed We tried before them Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, when there came to them a noble Messenger [i.e. Mûsa (Moses)], (Ad-Dukhan 44:17) |
'An 'Addū 'Ilayya `Ibāda Al-Lahi 'Innī Lakum Rasūlun 'Amīnun | Saying: "Restore to me the slaves of Allāh (i.e. the Children of Israel). Verily! I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust, (Ad-Dukhan 44:18) |
Wa 'An Lā Ta`lū `Alá Al-Lahi 'Innī 'Ātīkum Bisulţānin Mubīnin | "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allāh. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. (Ad-Dukhan 44:19) |
Wa 'Innī `Udhtu Birabbī Wa Rabbikum 'An Tarjumūni | "And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me). (Ad-Dukhan 44:20) |
Wa 'In Lam Tu'uminū Lī Fā`tazilūni | "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." (Ad-Dukhan 44:21) |
Fada`ā Rabbahu 'Anna Hā'uulā' Qawmun Mujrimūna | (But they were aggressive), so he [Mûsa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimûn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." (Ad-Dukhan 44:22) |
Fa'asri Bi`ibādī Laylāan 'Innakum Muttaba`ūna | (Allāh said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. (Ad-Dukhan 44:23) |
Wa Atruki Al-Baĥra Rahwan 'Innahum Jundun Mughraqūna | "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." (Ad-Dukhan 44:24) |
Kam Tarakū Min Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin | How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. (Ad-Dukhan 44:25) |
Wa Zurū`in Wa Maqāmin Karīmin | And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, (Ad-Dukhan 44:26) |
Wa Na`matin Kānū Fīhā Fākihīna | And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! (Ad-Dukhan 44:27) |
Kadhālika Wa 'Awrathnāhā Qawmāan 'Ākharīna | Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). (Ad-Dukhan 44:28) |
Famā Bakat `Alayhimu As-Samā'u Wa Al-'Arđu Wa Mā Kānū Munžarīna | And the heavens and the earth wept not for them , nor were they given a respite. (Ad-Dukhan 44:29) |
Wa Laqad Najjaynā Banī 'Isrā'īla Mina Al-`Adhābi Al-Muhīni | And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, (Ad-Dukhan 44:30) |
Min Fir`awna 'Innahu Kāna `Ālīāan Mina Al-Musrifīna | From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifûn (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). (Ad-Dukhan 44:31) |
Wa Laqadi Akhtarnāhum `Alá `Ilmin `Alá Al-`Ālamīna | And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamīn (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Mûsa (Moses)] with knowledge, (Ad-Dukhan 44:32) |
Wa 'Ātaynāhum Mina Al-'Āyāti Mā Fīhi Balā'un Mubīnun | And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. (Ad-Dukhan 44:33) |
'Inna Hā'uulā' Layaqūlūna | Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: (Ad-Dukhan 44:34) |
'In Hiya 'Illā Mawtatunā Al-'Ūlá Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimunsharīna | "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. (Ad-Dukhan 44:35) |
Fa'tū Bi'ābā'inā 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna | "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" (Ad-Dukhan 44:36) |
'Ahum Khayrun 'Am Qawmu Tubba`in Wa Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim 'Ahlaknāhum 'Innahum Kānū Mujrimīna | Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimûn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). (Ad-Dukhan 44:37) |
Wa Mā Khalaqnā As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Lā`ibīna | And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, (Ad-Dukhan 44:38) |
Mā Khalaqnāhumā 'Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum Lā Ya`lamūna | We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. (Ad-Dukhan 44:39) |
'Inna Yawma Al-Faşli Mīqātuhum 'Ajma`īna | Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allāh will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, (Ad-Dukhan 44:40) |
Yawma Lā Yughnī Mawláan `An Mawláan Shay'āan Wa Lā Hum Yunşarūna | The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, (Ad-Dukhan 44:41) |
'Illā Man Raĥima Al-Lahu 'Innahu Huwa Al-`Azīzu Ar-Raĥīmu | Except him on whom Allāh has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. (Ad-Dukhan 44:42) |
'Inna Shajarata Az-Zaqqūmi | Verily, the tree of Zaqqûm, (Ad-Dukhan 44:43) |
Ţa`āmu Al-'Athīmi | Will be the food of the sinners, (Ad-Dukhan 44:44) |
Kālmuhli Yaghlī Fī Al-Buţūni | Like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies, (Ad-Dukhan 44:45) |
Kaghalyi Al-Ĥamīmi | Like the boiling of scalding water. (Ad-Dukhan 44:46) |
Khudhūhu Fā`tilūhu 'Ilá Sawā'i Al-Jaĥīmi | (It will be said) "Seize him and drag him into the midst of blazing Fire, (Ad-Dukhan 44:47) |
Thumma Şubbū Fawqa Ra'sihi Min `Adhābi Al-Ĥamīmi | "Then pour over his head the torment of boiling water, (Ad-Dukhan 44:48) |
Dhuq 'Innaka 'Anta Al-`Azīzu Al-Karīmu | "Taste you (this)! Verily, you were (pretending to be) the mighty, the generous! (Ad-Dukhan 44:49) |
'Inna Hādhā Mā Kuntum Bihi Tamtarūna | "Verily! This is that whereof you used to doubt!" (Ad-Dukhan 44:50) |
'Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Maqāmin 'Amīnin | Verily! The Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2), will be in place of Security (Paradise). (Ad-Dukhan 44:51) |
Fī Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin | Among Gardens and Springs; (Ad-Dukhan 44:52) |
Yalbasūna Min Sundusin Wa 'Istabraqin Mutaqābilīna | Dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other, (Ad-Dukhan 44:53) |
Kadhālika Wa Zawwajnāhum Biĥūrin `Īnin | So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (female fair ones) with wide, lovely eyes. (Ad-Dukhan 44:54) |
Yad`ūna Fīhā Bikulli Fākihatin 'Āminīna | They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security; (Ad-Dukhan 44:55) |
Lā Yadhūqūna Fīhā Al-Mawta 'Illā Al-Mawtata Al-'Ūlá Wa Waqāhum `Adhāba Al-Jaĥīmi | They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire, (Ad-Dukhan 44:56) |
Fađlāan Min Rabbika Dhālika Huwa Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažīmu | As a Bounty from your Lord! That will be the supreme success! (Ad-Dukhan 44:57) |
Fa'innamā Yassarnāhu Bilisānika La`allahum Yatadhakkarūna | Certainly, We have made this (Qur'ān) easy in your tongue, in order that they may remember. (Ad-Dukhan 44:58) |
Fārtaqib 'Innahum Murtaqibūna | Wait then (O Muhammad SAW); Verily, they (too) are waiting. (Ad-Dukhan 44:59) |
