043.001 Ha-Mim
حَا-مِيم
Wa A l-Kitā bi A l-Mubī ni (Az-Zukh ru f: 2).
043.002 By the Book that makes things clear,-
وَالْكِتَا بِ ا لْمُبِينِ
'Inn ā Ja`alnā hu Q ur'ā nāan `Ara bīy 7an La`allakum Ta`q ilū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 3).
043.003 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom).
إِنَّ ا جَعَلْنَا هُ قُ رْآناً عَرَ بِيّاً لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِ لُونَ
Wa 'Inn ahu Fī 'Umm i A l-Kitā bi Ladaynā La`alī yun Ĥakī mun (Az-Zukh ru f: 4).
043.004 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom.
وَإِنَّ هُ فِي أُمّ ِ ا لْكِتَا بِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ
'Afanađr ibu `An kumu A dh -Dh ikra Ş afĥāan 'An Kun tum Q awmāan Musr ifī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 5).
043.005 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds?
أَفَنَضْ رِ بُ عَن كُمُ ا ل ذِّكْرَ صَ فْحاً أَن ْ كُن تُمْ قَ وْماً مُسْرِ فِينَ
Wa Kam 'Arsalnā Min Nabī yin Fī A l-'Awwalī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 6).
043.006 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old?
وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ نَبِيٍّ فِي ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Nabī yin 'Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ū n (Az-Zukh ru f: 7).
043.007 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِن ْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُ ون
Fa'ahlaknā 'Ash adda Minhum Baţ sh āan Wa Mađá Math alu A l-'Awwalī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 8).
043.008 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old.
فَأَهْلَكْنَا أَشَدَّ مِنْ هُمْ بَطْ شاً وَمَضَ ى مَثَلُ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Kh alaq a A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Layaq ūlunn a Kh alaq ahunn a A l-`Azī zu A l-`Alī mu (Az-Zukh ru f: 9).
043.009 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';-
وَلَئِن ْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَن ْ خَ لَقَ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضَ لَيَقُ ولُنّ َ خَ لَقَ هُنّ َ ا لْعَزِي زُ ا لْعَلِيمُ
Al-Ladh ī Ja`ala Lakumu A l-'Arđa Mahdāan Wa Ja`ala Lakum Fīhā Subulāan La`allakum Tahtadū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 10).
043.010 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way);
ا لَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ا لأَرْضَ مَهْداً وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلاً لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Nazzala Mina A s-Samā 'i Mā 'an Biq adar in Fa'an sh arnā Bihi Baldatan Maytāan ۚ Kadh ālika Tukh ra jū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 11).
043.011 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);-
وَالَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ مَا ءً بِقَ دَرٍ فَأَن شَرْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتاً ۚ كَذَلِكَ تُخْ رَ جُونَ
Wa A l-Ladh ī Kh alaq a A l-'Azwā ja Kullahā Wa Ja`ala Lakum Mina A l-Fulki Wa A l-'An`ām Mā Tarkabū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 12).
043.012 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride,
وَالَّذِي خَ لَقَ ا لأَزْوَا جَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ ا لْفُلْكِ وَا لأَنعَام مَا تَرْكَبُونَ
Litastawū `Alá Ž uhūr ihi Th umm a Tadh kurū Ni`mata Ra bbikum 'Idh ā A stawaytum `Alay hi Wa Taq ūlū Sub ĥā na A l-Ladh ī Sakh kh ara Lanā Hādh ā Wa Mā Kunn ā Lahu Muq r inī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 13).
043.013 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves),
لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَى ظُ هُورِ هِ ثُمّ َ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَ بِّكُمْ إِذَا ا سْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْ هِ وَتَقُ ولُوا سُبْ حانَ ا لَّذِي سَخَّ رَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّ ا لَهُ مُقْ رِ نِينَ
Wa 'Inn ā 'Ilá Ra bbinā Lamun q alibū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 14).
043.014 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!"
وَإِنَّ ا إِلَى رَ بِّنَا لَمُن قَ لِبُونَ
Wa Ja`alū Lahu Min `Ibādihi Juz'ā an ۚ 'Inn a A l-'In sā na Lakafū ru n Mubī nun (Az-Zukh ru f: 15).
043.015 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed!
وَجَعَلُوا لَهُ مِن ْ عِبَادِهِ جُزْءاً ۚ إِنّ َ ا لإِن سَا نَ لَكَفُو رٌ مُبِينٌ
'Am A ttakh adh a Mimm ā Yakh luq u Banā tin Wa 'Aş fākum Bil-Banī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 16).
043.016 What! has He taken daughters out of what He himself creates, and granted to you sons for choice?
أَمْ ا تَّخَ ذَ مِمَّ ا يَخْ لُقُ بَنَا تٍ وَأَصْ فَاكُمْ بِا لْبَنِينَ
Wa 'Idh ā Bush sh ir a 'Aĥaduhum Bimā Đ ara ba Lilrra ĥmani Math alāan Ž alla Waj huhu Muswaddāan Wa Huwa Kažī mun (Az-Zukh ru f: 17).
043.017 When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) what he sets up as a likeness to (God) Most Gracious, his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِمَا ضَ رَ بَ لِل رَّ حْمَنِ مَثَلاً ظَ لَّ وَجْ هُهُ مُسْوَدّاً وَهُوَ كَظِ يمٌ
'Awaman Yunash sh a'u Fī A l-Ĥilyati Wa Huwa Fī A l-Kh iş ā mi Gh ay ru Mubī nin (Az-Zukh ru f: 18).
043.018 Is then one brought up among trinkets, and unable to give a clear account in a dispute (to be associated with God)?
أَوَمَن ْ يُنَشَّأُ فِي ا لْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي ا لْخِ صَ ا مِ غَ يْ رُ مُبِينٍ
Wa Ja`alū A l-Malā 'ikata A l-Ladh ī na Hum `Ibā du A r-Ra ĥmani 'Ināth āan ۚ 'Ash ahidū Kh alq ahum ۚ Satuktabu Sh ahādatuhum Wa Yus'alū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 19).
043.019 And they make into females angels who themselves serve God. Did they witness their creation? Their evidence will be recorded, and they will be called to account!
وَجَعَلُوا ا لْمَلاَئِكَةَ ا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ عِبَا دُ ا ل رَّ حْمَنِ إِنَاثاً ۚ أَشَهِدُوا خَ لْقَ هُمْ ۚ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُونَ
Wa Q ālū Law Sh ā 'a A r-Ra ĥmā nu Mā `Abad nāhum ۗ Mā Lahum Bidh ālika Min `Ilmin ۖ 'In Hum 'Illā Yakh ru ş ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 20).
043.020 ("Ah!") they say, "If it had been the will of (God) Most Gracious, we should not have worshipped such (deities)!" Of that they have no knowledge! they do nothing but lie!
وَقَ الُوا لَوْ شَا ءَ ا ل رَّ حْمَنُ مَا عَبَدْ نَاهُمْ ۗ مَا لَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ مِن ْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن ْ هُمْ إِلاَّ يَخْ رُصُ ونَ
'Am 'Ātaynāhum Kitābāan Min Q ab lihi Fahum Bihi Mustam sikū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 21).
043.021 What! have We given them a Book before this, to which they are holding fast?
أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَاباً مِن ْ قَ بْ لِهِ فَهُمْ بِهِ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
Bal Q ālū 'Inn ā Wajad nā 'Ābā 'anā `Alá 'Umm atin Wa 'Inn ā `Alá 'Āth ār ihim Muhtadū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 22).
043.022 Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps."
بَلْ قَ الُو ا إِنَّ ا وَجَدْ نَا آبَا ءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّ ةٍ وَإِنَّ ا عَلَى آثَارِ هِمْ مُهْتَدُونَ
Wa Kadh alika Mā 'Arsalnā Min Q ab lika Fī Q aryatin Min Nadh ī r in 'Illā Q ā la Mutra fūhā 'Inn ā Wajad nā 'Ābā 'anā `Alá 'Umm atin Wa 'Inn ā `Alá 'Āth ār ihim Muq tadū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 23).
043.023 Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."
وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ فِي قَ رْيَةٍ مِن ْ نَذِي ر ٍ إِلاَّ قَ ا لَ مُتْرَ فُوهَا إِنَّ ا وَجَدْ نَا آبَا ءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّ ةٍ وَإِنَّ ا عَلَى آثَارِ هِمْ مُقْ تَدُونَ
Q ā la 'Awalaw Ji'tukum Bi'ahdá Mimm ā Wajad tum `Alay hi 'Ābā 'akum ۖ Q ālū 'Inn ā Bimā 'Ursiltum Bihi Kāfirū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 24).
043.024 He said: "What! Even if I brought you better guidance than that which ye found your fathers following?" They said: "For us, we deny that ye (prophets) are sent (on a mission at all)."
قَ ا لَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِأَهْدَى مِمَّ ا وَجَدْ تُمْ عَلَيْ هِ آبَا ءَكُمْ ۖ قَ الُو ا إِنَّ ا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَ
Fān taq am nā Minhum ۖ Fān žur Kay fa Kā na `Āq ibatu A l-Mukadh dh ibī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 25).
043.025 So We exacted retribution from them: now see what was the end of those who rejected (Truth)!
فَان تَقَ مْنَا مِنْ هُمْ ۖ فَان ظُ رْ كَيْ فَ كَا نَ عَاقِ بَةُ ا لْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Wa 'Idh Q ā la 'Ib rā hī mu Li'abī hi Wa Q awmihi 'Inn anī Barā 'un Mimm ā Ta`budū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 26).
043.026 Behold! Abraham said to his father and his people: "I do indeed clear myself of what ye worship:
وَإِذْ قَ ا لَ إِبْ رَ اهِي مُ لِأَبِي هِ وَقَ وْمِهِ إِنَّ نِي بَرَا ءٌ مِمَّ ا تَعْبُدُونَ
'Illā A l-Ladh ī Faţ ara nī Fa'inn ahu Sayahdī ni (Az-Zukh ru f: 27).
043.027 "(I worship) only Him Who made me, and He will certainly guide me."
إِلاَّ ا لَّذِي فَطَ رَ نِي فَإِنَّ هُ سَيَهْدِينِ
Wa Ja`alahā Kalimatan Bāq iyatan Fī `Aq ibihi La`allahum Yarji`ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 28).
043.028 And he left it as a Word to endure among those who came after him, that they may turn back (to God).
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً بَاقِ يَةً فِي عَقِ بِهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Bal Matta`tu Hā 'uulā ' Wa 'Ābā 'ahum Ĥattá Jā 'ahumu A l-Ĥaq q u Wa Ra sū lun Mubī nun (Az-Zukh ru f: 29).
043.029 Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and an apostle making things clear.
بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَا ؤُلاَء وَآبَا ءَهُمْ حَتَّى جَا ءَهُمُ ا لْحَقُّ وَرَ سُو لٌ مُبِينٌ
Wa Lamm ā Jā 'ahumu A l-Ĥaq q u Q ālū Hādh ā Siĥru n Wa 'Inn ā Bihi Kāfirū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 30).
043.030 But when the Truth came to them, they said: "This is sorcery, and we do reject it."
وَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَهُمُ ا لْحَقُّ قَ الُوا هَذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّ ا بِهِ كَافِرُونَ
Wa Q ālū Lawlā Nuzzila Hādh ā A l-Q ur'ā nu `Alá Ra julin Mina A l-Q aryatay ni `Ažī min (Az-Zukh ru f: 31).
043.031 Also, they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some leading man in either of the two (chief) cities?"
وَقَ الُوا لَوْلاَ نُزِّلَ هَذَا ا لْقُ رْآنُ عَلَى رَ جُلٍ مِنَ ا لْقَ رْيَتَيْ نِ عَظِ يمٍ
'Ahum Yaq simū na Ra ĥmata Ra bbika ۚ Naĥnu Q asam nā Baynahum Ma`īsh atahum Fī A l-Ĥayāati A d-Dun yā ۚ Wa Ra fa`nā Ba`đahum Faw q a Ba`đin Dara jā tin Liyattakh idh a Ba`đuhum Ba`đāan Sukh r īy 7an ۗ Wa Ra ĥmatu Ra bbika Kh ay ru n Mimm ā Yaj ma`ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 32).
043.032 Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass.
أَهُمْ يَقْ سِمُو نَ رَ حْمَةَ رَ بِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَ سَمْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي ا لْحَيَا ةِ ا ل دُّنْ يَا ۚ وَرَ فَعْنَا بَعْضَ هُمْ فَوْ قَ بَعْض ٍ دَرَ جَا تٍ لِيَتَّخِ ذَ بَعْضُ هُمْ بَعْض اً سُخْ رِ يّاً ۗ وَرَ حْمَةُ رَ بِّكَ خَ يْ رٌ مِمَّ ا يَجْ مَعُونَ
Wa Lawlā 'An Yakū na A n -Nā su 'Umm atan Wāĥidatan Laja`alnā Liman Yakfuru Bir -Ra ĥmani Libuyūtihim Suq ufāan Min Fađđatin Wa Ma`ār ija `Alayhā Yažharū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 33).
043.033 And were it not that (all) men might become of one (evil) way of life, We would provide, for everyone that blasphemes against (God) Most Gracious, silver roofs for their houses and (silver) stair-ways on which to go up,
وَلَوْلاَ أَن ْ يَكُو نَ ا ل نّ َا سُ أُمَّ ةً وَاحِدَة ً لَجَعَلْنَا لِمَن ْ يَكْفُرُ بِا ل رَّ حْمَنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُ فاً مِن ْ فَضَّ ةٍ وَمَعَارِ جَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْ هَرُونَ
Wa Libuyūtihim 'Ab wābāan Wa Suru rā an `Alayhā Yattaki'ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 34).
043.034 And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline,
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْ وَاباً وَسُرُراً عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِئُ ونَ
Wa Zukh ru fāan ۚ Wa 'In Kullu Dh ālika Lamm ā Matā `u A l-Ĥayāati A d-Dun yā ۚ Wa A l-'Ākh ira tu `In da Ra bbika Lilmuttaq ī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 35).
043.035 And also adornments of gold. But all this were nothing but conveniences of the present life: The Hereafter, in the sight of thy Lord is for the Righteous.
وَزُخْ رُفاً ۚ وَإِن ْ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ لَمَّ ا مَتَا عُ ا لْحَيَا ةِ ا ل دُّنْ يَا ۚ وَا لآخِ رَ ةُ عِنْ دَ رَ بِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِ ينَ
Wa Man Ya`sh u `An Dh ikr i A r-Ra ĥmani Nuq ayyiđ Lahu Sh ayţ ānāan Fahuwa La hu Q ar ī nun (Az-Zukh ru f: 36).
043.036 If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (God) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him.
وَمَن ْ يَعْشُ عَن ْ ذِكْرِ ا ل رَّ حْمَنِ نُقَ يِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَ اناً فَهُوَ لَهُ قَ رِ ينٌ
Wa 'Inn ahum Layaş uddūnahum `Ani A s-Sabī li Wa Yaĥsabū na 'Ann ahum Muhtadū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 37).
043.037 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright!
وَإِنَّ هُمْ لَيَصُ دُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ا ل سَّبِي لِ وَيَحْسَبُو نَ أَنَّ هُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ
Ĥattá 'Idh ā Jā 'anā Q ā la Yā Lay ta Bayn 99 Wa Baynaka Bu`da A l-Mash r iq ay ni Fabi'sa A l-Q ar ī nu (Az-Zukh ru f: 38).
043.038 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)!
حَتَّى إِذَا جَا ءَنَا قَ ا لَ يَالَيْ تَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ ا لْمَشْرِ قَ يْ نِ فَبِئْسَ ا لْقَ رِ ينُ
Wa Lan Yan fa`akumu A l-Yaw ma 'Idh Ž alam tum 'Ann akum Fī A l-`Adh ā bi Mush tar ikū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 39).
043.039 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment!
وَلَن ْ يَن فَعَكُمُ ا لْيَوْ مَ إِذْ ظَ لَمْتُمْ أَنَّ كُمْ فِي ا لْعَذَا بِ مُشْتَرِ كُونَ
'Afa'an ta Tusmi`u A ş -Ş umm a 'Aw Tahdī A l-`Um ya Wa Man Kā na Fī Đ alā lin Mubī nin (Az-Zukh ru f: 40).
043.040 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error?
أَفَأَنْ تَ تُسْمِعُ ا ل صُّ مّ َ أَوْ تَهْدِي ا لْعُمْيَ وَمَن ْ كَا نَ فِي ضَ لاَلٍ مُبِينٍ
Fa'imm ā Nadh /habann a Bika Fa'inn ā Minhum Mun taq imū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 41).
043.041 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them,
فَإِمَّ ا نَذْهَبَنّ َ بِكَ فَإِنَّ ا مِنْ هُمْ مُنْ تَقِ مُونَ
'Aw Nur iyanna ka A l-Ladh ī Wa`ad nāhum Fa'inn ā `Alayhim Muq tadirū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 42).
043.042 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them.
أَوْ نُرِ يَنَّ كَ ا لَّذِي وَعَدْ نَاهُمْ فَإِنَّ ا عَلَيْهِمْ مُقْ تَدِرُونَ
Fāstam sik Bial-Ladh ī 'Ūĥiya 'Ilay ka ۖ 'Inn aka `Alá Ş irā ţ in Mustaq ī min (Az-Zukh ru f: 43).
043.043 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way.
فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِا لَّذِي أُ وحِيَ إِلَيْ كَ ۖ إِنَّ كَ عَلَى صِ رَ ا ط ٍ مُسْتَقِ يمٍ
Wa 'Inn ahu Ladh ikru n Laka Wa Liq awmika ۖ Wa Saw fa Tus'alū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 44).
043.044 The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account.
وَإِنَّ هُ لَذِكْرٌ لَكَ وَلِقَ وْمِكَ ۖ وَسَوْ فَ تُسْأَلُونَ
Wa A s'al Man 'Arsalnā Min Q ab lika Min Ru sulinā 'Aja`alnā Min Dū ni A r-Ra ĥmani 'Ālihatan Yu`badū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 45).
043.045 And question thou our apostles whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (God) Most Gracious, to be worshipped?
وَاسْأَلْ مَن ْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ مِن ْ رُسُلِنَا أَجَعَلْنَا مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل رَّ حْمَنِ آلِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ
Wa Laq ad 'Arsalnā Mūsá Bi'ā yātinā 'Ilá Fir `aw na Wa Mala'ihi Faq ā la 'Inn ī Ra sū lu Ra bbi A l-`Ālamī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 46).
043.046 We did send Moses aforetime, with Our Signs, to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: He said, "I am an apostle of the Lord of the Worlds."
وَلَقَ دْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَى فِر ْعَوْ نَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَقَ ا لَ إِنِّ ي رَ سُو لُ رَ بِّ ا لْعَالَمِينَ
Falamm ā Jā 'ahum Bi'ā yātinā 'Idh ā Hum Minhā Yađĥakū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 47).
043.047 But when he came to them with Our Signs, behold they ridiculed them.
فَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَهُمْ بِآيَاتِنَا إِذَا هُمْ مِنْ هَا يَضْ حَكُونَ
Wa Mā Nur īhim Min 'Āyatin 'Illā Hiya 'Akbaru Min 'Ukh tihā ۖ Wa 'Akh adh nāhum Bil-`Adh ā bi La`allahum Yarji`ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 48).
043.048 We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us).
وَمَا نُرِ يهِمْ مِن ْ آيَةٍ إِلاَّ هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِن ْ أُخْ تِهَا ۖ وَأَخَ ذْنَاهُمْ بِا لْعَذَا بِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Wa Q ālū Yā 'Ayyuhā A s-Sāĥir u A d `u Lanā Ra bbaka Bimā `Ahida `In daka 'Inn anā Lamuhtadūn (Az-Zukh ru f: 49).
043.049 And they said, "O thou sorcerer! Invoke thy Lord for us according to His covenant with thee; for we shall truly accept guidance."
وَقَ الُوا يَا أَيُّهَا ا ل سَّاحِر ُا دْ عُ لَنَا رَ بَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْ دَكَ إِنَّ نَا لَمُهْتَد ُون
Falamm ā Kash afnā `Anhumu A l-`Adh ā ba 'Idh ā Hum Yan kuth ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 50).
043.050 But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.
فَلَمَّ ا كَشَفْنَا عَنْ هُمُ ا لْعَذَا بَ إِذَا هُمْ يَن كُثُونَ
Wa Nādá Fir `aw nu Fī Q awmihi Q ā la Yā Q aw mi 'Alay sa Lī Mulku Miş ra Wa Hadh ihi A l-'Anhā ru Taj r ī Min Taĥtī ۖ 'Afalā Tub ş irū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 51).
043.051 And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Does not the dominion of Egypt belong to me, (witness) these streams flowing underneath my (palace)? What! see ye not then?
وَنَادَى فِر ْعَوْ نُ فِي قَ وْمِهِ قَ ا لَ يَاقَ وْ مِ أَلَيْ سَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْ رَ وَهَذِهِ ا لأَنْ هَا رُ تَجْ رِ ي مِن ْ تَحْتِي أَفَلاَ ۖ تُبْ صِ رُونَ
'Am 'Anā Kh ay ru n Min Hādh ā A l-Ladh ī Huwa Mahī nun Wa Lā Yakā du Yubī nu (Az-Zukh ru f: 52).
043.052 "Am I not better than this (Moses), who is a contemptible wretch and can scarcely express himself clearly?
أَمْ أَنَا خَ يْ رٌ مِن ْ هَذَا ا لَّذِي هُوَ مَهِي نٌ وَلاَ يَكَا دُ يُبِينُ
Falawlā 'Ulq iya `Alay hi 'Aswira tun Min Dh ahabin 'Aw Jā 'a Ma`ahu A l-Malā 'ikatu Muq tar inī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 53).
043.053 "Then why are not gold bracelets bestowed on him, or (why) come (not) with him angels accompanying him in procession?"
فَلَوْلاَ أُلْقِ يَ عَلَيْ هِ أَسْوِرَ ةٌ مِن ْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَا ءَ مَعَهُ ا لْمَلاَئِكَةُ مُقْ تَرِ نِينَ
Fāstakh affa Q awmahu Fa'aţ ā`ū hu ۚ 'Inn ahum Kānū Q awmāan Fāsiq ī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 54).
043.054 Thus did he make fools of his people, and they obeyed him: truly were they a people rebellious (against God).
فَاسْتَخَ فَّ قَ وْمَهُ فَأَطَ اعُو هُ ۚ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا قَ وْماً فَاسِقِ ينَ
Falamm ā 'Āsafūnā A n taq am nā Minhum Fa'agh ra q nāhum 'Aj ma`ī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 55).
043.055 When at length they provoked Us, We exacted retribution from them, and We drowned them all.
فَلَمَّ ا آسَفُونَا ا ن تَقَ مْنَا مِنْ هُمْ فَأَغْ رَ قْ نَاهُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
Faja`alnāhum Salafāan Wa Math alāan Lil'ā kh ir ī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 56).
043.056 And We made them (a people) of the Past and an Example to later ages.
فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفاً وَمَثَلاً لِلآخِ رِ ينَ
Wa Lamm ā Đ ur iba A b nu Maryama Math alāan 'Idh ā Q awmuka Minhu Yaş iddū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 57).
043.057 When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)!
وَلَمَّ ا ضُ رِ بَ ا بْ نُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلاً إِذَا قَ وْمُكَ مِنْ هُ يَصِ دُّونَ
Wa Q ālū 'A'ā lihatunā Kh ay ru n 'Am Huwa ۚ Mā Đ ara bū hu Laka 'Illā Jadalāan ۚ Bal Hum Q aw mun Kh aş imū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 58).
043.058 And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people.
وَقَ الُو ا أَآلِهَتُنَا خَ يْ رٌ أَمْ هُوَ ۚ مَا ضَ رَ بُو هُ لَكَ إِلاَّ جَدَلاً ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَ وْ مٌ خَ صِ مُونَ
'In Huwa 'I llā `Ab dun 'An`am nā `Alay hi Wa Ja`alnā hu Math alāan Libanī 'Isrā 'ī la (Az-Zukh ru f: 59).
043.059 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel.
إِن ْ هُوَ إِلاَّ عَبْ دٌ أَنْ عَمْنَا عَلَيْ هِ وَجَعَلْنَا هُ مَثَلاً لِبَنِي إِسْرَا ئِ يلَ
Wa Law Nash ā 'u Laja`alnā Min kum Malā 'ikatan Fī A l-'Arđi Yakh lufū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 60).
043.060 And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth.
وَلَوْ نَشَا ءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ كُمْ مَلاَئِكَةً فِي ا لأَرْضِ يَخْ لُفُونَ
Wa 'Inn ahu La`ilmun Lilssā`ati Falā Tam taru nn a Bihā Wa A ttabi`ūnī ۚ Hādh ā Ş irā ţ un Mustaq ī mun (Az-Zukh ru f: 61).
043.061 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.
وَإِنَّ هُ لَعِلْم ٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ فَلاَ تَمْتَرُنّ َ بِهَا وَا تَّبِعُونِي ۚ هَذَا صِ رَ ا ط ٌ مُسْتَقِ يمٌ
Wa Lā Yaş uddann akumu A sh -Sh ayţ ā nu ۖ 'Inn ahu Lakum `Adū wun Mubī nun (Az-Zukh ru f: 62).
043.062 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed.
وَلاَ يَصُ دَّنَّ كُمُ ا ل شَّيْطَ ا نُ ۖ إِنَّ هُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ
Wa Lamm ā Jā 'a `Īsá Bil-Bayyinā ti Q ā la Q ad Ji'tukum Bil-Ĥikmati Wa Li'abayyina Lakum Ba`đa A l-Ladh ī Takh talifū na Fī hi Fa ۖ A ttaq ū A ll aha Wa 'Aţ ī`ū ni (Az-Zukh ru f: 63).
043.063 When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear God and obey me.
وَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَ عِيسَى بِا لْبَيِّنَا تِ قَ ا لَ قَ دْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِا لْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأَبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ بَعْضَ ا لَّذِي تَخْ تَلِفُو نَ فِي هِ ۖ فَاتَّقُ وا ا للَّ هَ وَأَطِ يعُونِ
'Inn a A ll āha Huwa Ra bbī Wa Ra bbukum Fā`budū hu ۚ Hādh ā Ş irā ţ un Mustaq ī mun (Az-Zukh ru f: 64).
043.064 "For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way."
إِنّ َ ا للَّ هَ هُوَ رَ بِّي وَرَ بُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُو هُ ۚ هَذَا صِ رَ ا ط ٌ مُسْتَقِ يمٌ
Fākh talafa A l-'Aĥzā bu Min Baynihim ۖ Faway lun Lilladh ī na Ž alamū Min `Adh ā bi Yaw min 'Alī min (Az-Zukh ru f: 65).
043.065 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!
فَاخْ تَلَفَ ا لأَحْزَا بُ مِن ْ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْ ل ٌ لِلَّذِي نَ ظَ لَمُوا مِن ْ عَذَا بِ يَوْ مٍ أَلِيمٍ
Hal Yan žurū na 'Illā A s-Sā`ata 'An Ta'tiyahum Bagh tatan Wa Hum Lā Yash `urū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 66).
043.066 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not?
هَلْ يَن ظُ رُو نَ إِلاَّ ا ل سَّاعَةَ أَن ْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْ تَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
Al-'Akh illā 'u Yawma'idh in Ba`đuhum Liba`đin `Adū wun 'Illā A l-Muttaq ī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 67).
043.067 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous.
ا لأَخِ لاَّءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُ هُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلاَّ ا لْمُتَّقِ ينَ
Yā `Ibā di Lā Kh aw fun `Alaykumu A l-Yaw ma Wa Lā 'An tum Taĥzanū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 68).
043.068 My devotees! no fear shall be on you that Day, nor shall ye grieve,-
يَاعِبَا دِ لاَ خَ وْ فٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ا لْيَوْ مَ وَلاَ أَنْ تُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ
Al-Ladh ī na 'Āmanū Bi'ā yātinā Wa Kānū Muslimī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 69).
043.069 (Being) those who have believed in Our Signs and bowed (their wills to Ours) in Islam.
ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ
A d kh ulū A l-Jann ata 'An tum Wa 'Azwājukum Tuĥbarū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 70).
043.070 Enter ye the Garden, ye and your wives, in (beauty and) rejoicing.
ا دْ خُ لُوا ا لْجَنَّ ةَ أَنْ تُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ
Yuţ ā fu `Alayhim Biş iĥā fin Min Dh ahabin Wa 'Akwā bin ۖ Wa Fīhā Mā Tash tahī hi A l-'An fusu Wa Taladh dh u A l-'A`yunu ۖ Wa 'An tum Fīhā Kh ālidū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 71).
043.071 To them will be passed round, dishes and goblets of gold: there will be there all that the souls could desire, all that their ayes could delight in: and ye shall abide therein (for eye).
يُطَ ا فُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِصِ حَا فٍ مِن ْ ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَا بٍ ۖ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي هِ ا لأَن فُسُ وَتَلَذُّ ا لأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنْ تُمْ فِيهَا خَ الِدُونَ
Wa Tilka A l-Jann atu A llatī 'Ūr ith tumūhā Bimā Kun tum Ta`malū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 72).
043.072 Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your (good) deeds (in life).
وَتِلْكَ ا لْجَنَّ ةُ ا لَّتِي أُ ورِ ثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُن تُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Lakum Fīhā Fākihatun Kath īra tun Minhā Ta'kulū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 73).
043.073 Ye shall have therein abundance of fruit, from which ye shall have satisfaction.
لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَ ةٌ مِنْ هَا تَأْكُلُونَ
'Inn a A l-Muj r imī na Fī `Adh ā bi Jahann ama Kh ālidūn (Az-Zukh ru f: 74).
043.074 The sinners will be in the Punishment of Hell, to dwell therein (for aye):
إِنّ َ ا لْمُجْ رِ مِي نَ فِي عَذَا بِ جَهَنَّ مَ خَ الِد ُون
Lā Yufattaru `Anhum Wa Hum Fī hi Mub lisū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 75).
043.075 Nowise will the (Punishment) be lightened for them, and in despair will they be there overwhelmed.
لاَ يُفَتَّرُ عَنْ هُمْ وَهُمْ فِي هِ مُبْ لِسُونَ
Wa Mā Ž alam nāhum Wa Lakin Kānū Humu A ž-Ž ālimī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 76).
043.076 Nowise shall We be unjust to them: but it is they who have been unjust themselves.
وَمَا ظَ لَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِن ْ كَانُوا هُمُ ا ل ظَّ الِمِينَ
Wa Nādawā Yā Māliku Liyaq đi `Alaynā Ra bbuka ۖ Q ā la 'Inn akum Mākith ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 77).
043.077 They will cry: "O Malik! would that thy Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Nay, but ye shall abide!"
وَنَادَوْا يَامَالِكُ لِيَقْ ضِ عَلَيْنَا رَ بُّكَ قَ ا لَ ۖ إِنَّ كُمْ مَاكِثُونَ
Laq ad Ji'nākum Bil-Ĥaq q i Wa Lakinn a 'Akth ara kum Lilĥaq q i Kār ihū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 78).
043.078 Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth.
لَقَ دْ جِئْنَاكُمْ بِا لْحَقِّ وَلَكِنّ َ أَكْثَرَ كُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِ هُونَ
'Am 'Ab ra mū 'Am rā an Fa'inn ā Mub r imū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 79).
043.079 What! have they settled some plan (among themselves)? But it is We Who settle things.
أَمْ أَبْ رَ مُو ا أَمْراً فَإِنَّ ا مُبْ رِ مُونَ
'Am Yaĥsabū na 'Ann ā Lā Nasma`u Sir ra hum Wa Naj wāhum ۚ Balá Wa Ru sulunā Ladayhim Yaktubū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 80).
043.080 Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record.
أَمْ يَحْسَبُو نَ أَنَّ ا لاَ نَسْمَعُ سِر َّهُمْ وَنَجْ وَاهُمْ ۚ بَلَى وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Q ul 'In Kā na Lilrra ĥmani Waladun Fa'anā 'Awwalu A l-`Ābidī na (Az-Zukh ru f: 81).
043.081 Say: "If (God) Most Gracious had a son, I would be the first to worship."
قُ لْ إِن ْ كَا نَ لِل رَّ حْمَنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ ا لْعَابِدِينَ
Sub ĥā na Ra bbi A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Ra bbi A l-`Arsh i `Amm ā Yaş ifū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 82).
043.082 Glory to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne (of Authority)! (He is free) from the things they attribute (to him)!
سُبْ حَا نَ رَ بِّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ رَ بِّ ا لْعَرْشِ عَمَّ ا يَصِ فُونَ
Fadh arhum Yakh ūđū Wa Yal`abū Ĥattá Yulāq ū Yawmahu mu A l-Ladh ī Yū`adū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 83).
043.083 So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُ وضُ وا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلاَقُ وا يَوْمَهُمُ ا لَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ
Wa Huwa A l-Ladh ī Fī A s-Samā 'i 'Ilahun Wa Fī A l-'Arđi 'Ilahun ۚ Wa Huwa A l-Ĥakī mu A l-`Alī mu (Az-Zukh ru f: 84).
043.084 It is He Who is God in heaven and God on earth; and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge.
وَهُوَ ا لَّذِي فِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ إِلَهٌ وَفِي ا لأَرْضِ إِلَهٌ ۚ وَهُوَ ا لْحَكِي مُ ا لْعَلِيمُ
Wa Tabāra ka A l-Ladh ī Lahu Mulku A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Wa `In dahu `Ilmu A s-Sā`ati Wa 'Ilay hi Turja`ū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 85).
043.085 And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all between them: with Him is the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment): and to Him shall ye be brought back.
وَتَبَارَ كَ ا لَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِنْ دَهُ عِلْمُ ا ل سَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْ هِ تُرْجَعُونَ
Wa Lā Yam liku A l-Ladh ī na Yad `ū na Min Dūnihi A sh -Sh afā`ata 'Illā Man Sh ahida Bil-Ĥaq q i Wa Hum Ya`lamū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 86).
043.086 And those whom they invoke besides God have no power of intercession;- only he who bears witness to the Truth, and they know (him).
وَلاَ يَمْلِكُ ا لَّذِي نَ يَدْ عُو نَ مِن ْ دُونِهِ ا ل شَّفَاعَةَ إِلاَّ مَن ْ شَهِدَ بِا لْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Kh alaq ahum Layaq ūlunn a A ll āhu ۖ Fa'ann á Yu'ufakū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 87).
043.087 If thou ask them, who created them, they will certainly say, God: How then are they deluded away (from the Truth)?
وَلَئِن ْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَن ْ خَ لَقَ هُمْ لَيَقُ ولُنّ َ ا للَّ هُ ۖ فَأَنَّ ى يُؤْفَكُونَ
Wa Q īlihi Yā Ra bbi 'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Q aw mun Lā Yu'uminū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 88).
043.088 (God has knowledge) of the (Prophet's) cry, "O my Lord! Truly these are people who will not believe!"
وَقِ يلِهِ يَارَ بِّ إِنّ َ هَا ؤُلاَء قَ وْ م ٌ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Fāş faĥ `Anhum Wa Q ul Salā mun ۚ Fasaw fa Ya`lamū na (Az-Zukh ru f: 89).
043.089 But turn away from them, and say "Peace!" But soon shall they know!
فَاصْ فَحْ عَنْ هُمْ وَقُ لْ سَلاَمٌ ۚ فَسَوْ فَ يَعْلَمُونَ
