| THIS SLIGHTLY longer chapter was revealed after The House of Imran 3 and before Examining Her 60. It contains 73 verses arranged in nine sections, all of which were revealed in Madina. This thus represents a break in the diminishing sequence of chapters. The Jews and pagan Arabs around Madina had risen 10,000 strong in a conspiracy directed against the nascent Islamic state at this point (the year 5 / 626-7), and the chapter bears witness to the difficulties existent in this developing society. The troubles which Muhammad faced in Madina in the year 5 / 626-7 were different from the ones he had met with in Mecca. We hear graphic portrayals of meddlers and slackers who, for instance, gave rise to recruiting and defence problems (it). Salman the Persian had a trench dug so the Madinese could withstand a siege. Following this success, the Prophet began to achieve the hegemony of Arabia and control over the trade routes to Syria. The Prophet's wives appear again (IV &VI), plus rules for divorce (VI) and modesty (VIII). There is also a section on protocol in connection with affairs of state (VII). The chapter ends with a statement on the philosophy of history (VIII) plus a vivid picture of how God's trust was offered to the mountains, but they were prudent enough to reject it (IX). | Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Attaqi Al-Laha Wa Lā Tuţi`i Al-Kāfirīna Wa Al-Munāfiqīna 'Inna Al-Laha Kāna `Alīmāan ۗ Ĥakīmāan | 033-001*0 Prophet, heed God and do not obey disbelievers and hypocrites. God is Aware, Wise. | يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَلاَ تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيما ً ۗ حَكِيما ً |
| Wa Attabi` Mā Yūĥá 'Ilayka Min Rabbika ۚ 'Inna Al-Laha Kāna Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrāan | 033-002* Follow whatever you are inspired with by your Lord; God is Informed about what you (all) are doing. | وَاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرا ً |
| Wa Tawakkal `Alá Al-Lahi ۚ Wa Kafá Bil-Lahi Wa Kīlāan | 033-003* Rely on God; God suffices as a Trustee. | وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلا ً |
| Mā Ja`ala Al-Lahu Lirajulin Min Qalbayni Fī Jawfihi ۚ Wa Mā Ja`ala 'Azwājakumu Al-Lā'ī Tužāhirūna Minhunna 'Ummahātikum ۚ Wa Mā Ja`ala 'Ad`iyā'akum 'Abnā'akum ۚ Dhālikum Qawlukum Bi'afwāhikum Wa ۖ Allāhu Yaqūlu Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Huwa Yahdī As-Sabīla | 033-004* God has not placed two hearts in any man's body. Nor has He granted you wives whom you may back away from, to act as your mothers, nor has He granted your adopted sons to be your own sons. That is your own statement made by your own mouths. God states the Truth and He guides one along the Way. | مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِه ِِ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَاجَكُمُ اللاَّئِي تُظَاهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَاءَكُمْ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ ۚ ذَلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُمْ بِأَفْوَاهِكُمْ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَقُولُ الْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِي السَّبِيلَ |
| Ad`ūhum Li'abā'ihim Huwa 'Aqsaţu `Inda Al-Lahi ۚ Fa'in Lam Ta`lamū 'Ābā'ahum Fa'ikhwānukum Fī Ad-Dīni Wa Mawālīkum ۚ Wa Laysa `Alaykum Junāĥun Fīmā 'Akhţa'tum Bihi Wa Lakin Mā Ta`ammadat Qulūbukum ۚ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan | 033-005* Call them after their own fathers; it is fairer so far as God is concerned. If you do not know who their fathers were, then [call them] your brothers in religion and your wards. What you may have slipped up on already will not be held against you, but only something your hearts have done intentionally. Yet God is Forgiving, Merciful. | ادْعُوهُمْ لِأَبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا آبَاءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَمَوَالِيكُمْ ۚ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا أَخْطَأْتُمْ بِه ِِ وَلَكِنْ مَا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورا ً رَحِيما ً |
| An-Nabīyu 'Awlá Bil-Mu'uminīna Min 'Anfusihim ۖ Wa 'Azwājuhu 'Ummahātuhum ۗ Wa 'Ūlū Al-'Arĥāmi Ba`đuhum 'Awlá Biba`đin Fī Kitābi Al-Lahi Mina Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Muhājirīna 'Illā 'An Taf`alū 'Ilá 'Awliyā'ikum Ma`rūfāan ۚ Kāna Dhālika Fī Al-Kitābi Masţūrāan | 033-006* The Prophet is closer to believers than even they themselves are, and his wives are [like] their mothers. Yet blood relatives are closer to one another in God's book than are believers and the Refugees, except that you should act in a proper manner towards your wards. That has been underlined in the Book. | النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ۖ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ~ُ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ ۗ وَأُوْلُو الأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُهَاجِرِينَ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ مَعْرُوفا ً ۚ كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورا ً |
| Wa 'Idh 'Akhadhnā Mina An-Nabīyīna Mīthāqahum Wa Minka Wa Min Nūĥin Wa 'Ibrāhīma Wa Mūsá Wa `Īsá Abni Maryama ۖ Wa 'Akhadhnā Minhum Mīthāqāan Ghalīžāan | 033-007* When We made an agreement with the prophets, with you and with Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus the son of Mary, We pledged a solemn agreement with them | وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَمِنْكَ وَمِنْ نُوحٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِيثَاقا ً غَلِيظا ً |
| Liyas'ala Aş-Şādiqīna `An Şidqihim ۚ Wa 'A`adda Lilkāfirīna `Adhābāan 'Alīmāan | 033-008* so He might question sincere persons concerning their sincerity. He has prepared painful torment for disbelievers! Divine Intervention (II) | لِيَسْأَلَ الصَّادِقِينَ عَنْ صِدْقِهِمْ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابا ً أَلِيما ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Adhkurū Ni`mata Al-Lahi `Alaykum 'Idh Jā'atkum Junūdun Fa'arsalnā `Alayhim Rīĥāan Wa Junūdāan Lam Tarawhā ۚ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrāan | 033-009* You who believe, remember God's favor upon you when the armies charged at you! We sent a wind and even armies you did not see against them. God was Observant of what you were doing, | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَاءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحا ً وَجُنُودا ً لَمْ تَرَوْهَا وَكَانَ ۚ اللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرا ً |
| 'Idh Jā'ūkum Min Fawqikum Wa Min 'Asfala Minkum Wa 'Idh Zāghati Al-'Abşāru Wa Balaghati Al-Qulūbu Al-Ĥanājira Wa Tažunnūna Bil-Lahi Až-Žunūna | 033-010* as they came at you both from above you and from below you, and your eyesight faltered and your hearts leaped up into your throats, and you entertained certain thoughts about God | إِذْ جَاءُوكُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ الأَبْصَارُ وَبَلَغَتِ الْقُلُوبُ الْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِاللَّهِ الظُّنُونَ |
| Hunālika Abtuliya Al-Mu'uminūna Wa Zulzilū Zilzālāan Shadīdāan | 033-011* there believers were tested and severely shaken as if in an earthquake. | هُنَالِكَ ابْتُلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا زِلْزَالا ً شَدِيدا ً |
| Wa 'Idh Yaqūlu Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Mā Wa`adanā Al-Lahu Wa Rasūluhu 'Illā Ghurūrāan | 033-012* Thus hypocrites and those whose hearts contain malice said: "God and His messenger have only promised us something to lure us on." Recruiting Problems | وَإِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ~ُ إِلاَّ غُرُورا ً |
| Wa 'Idh Qālat Ţā'ifatun Minhum Yā 'Ahla Yathriba Lā Muqāma Lakum Fārji`ū ۚ Wa Yasta'dhinu Farīqun Minhumu An-Nabīya Yaqūlūna 'Inna Buyūtanā `Awratun Wa Mā Hiya Bi`awratin ۖ 'In Yurīdūna 'Illā Firārāan | 033-013* So when a faction of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no room for you, so return!", a group of them took leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our houses lie exposed." They were not defenceless; they merely wanted to run away. | وَإِذْ قَالَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ يَاأَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لاَ مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَارْجِعُوا وَيَسْتَأْذِنُ ۚ فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمُ النَّبِيَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌ وَمَا هِيَ بِعَوْرَةٍ إِنْ ۖ يُرِيدُونَ إِلاَّ فِرَارا ً |
| Wa Law Dukhilat `Alayhim Min 'Aqţārihā Thumma Su'ilū Al-Fitnata La'ātawhā Wa Mā Talabbathū Bihā 'Illā Yasīrāan | 033-014* If a raid had been made on them from [all] its quarters, then they had been asked to rise up in dissension, they would have done so and yet not lasted very long. | وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا الْفِتْنَةَ لَآتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوا بِهَا إِلاَّ يَسِيرا ً |
| Wa Laqad Kānū `Āhadū Al-Laha Min Qablu Lā Yuwallūna Al-'Adbāra ۚ Wa Kāna `Ahdu Al-Lahi Mas'ūlāan | 033-015* Still they had already pledged to God that they would not turn their backs! Any oath [made] to God will be asked about. | وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ لاَ يُوَلُّونَ الأَدْبَارَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ اللَّهِ مَسْئُولا ً |
| Qul Lan Yanfa`akumu Al-Firāru 'In Farartum Mina Al-Mawti 'Awi Al-Qatli Wa 'Idhāan Lā Tumatta`ūna 'Illā Qalīlāan | 033-016* SAY: "Fleeing will never help you: if you should flee from death or slaughter, then you will still enjoy (life) only briefly." | قُلْ لَنْ يَنْفَعَكُمُ الْفِرَارُ إِنْ فَرَرْتُمْ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ أَوِ الْقَتْلِ وَإِذا ً لاَ تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً |
| Qul Man Dhā Al-Ladhī Ya`şimukum Mina Al-Lahi 'In 'Arāda Bikum Sū'āan 'Aw 'Arāda Bikum Raĥmatan ۚ Wa Lā Yajidūna Lahum Min Dūni Al-Lahi Walīyāan Wa Lā Naşīrāan | 033-017* SAY: "Who is there to shield you from God if He should want any ill for you or wants mercy for you?" They will find they have no patron nor any supporter besides God. | قُلْ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَعْصِمُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوءا ً أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَة ً ۚ وَلاَ يَجِدُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلِيّا ً وَلاَ نَصِيرا ً |
| Qad Ya`lamu Al-Lahu Al-Mu`awwiqīna Minkum Wa Al-Qā'ilīna Li'ikhwānihim Halumma 'Ilaynā ۖ Wa Lā Ya'tūna Al-Ba'sa 'Illā Qalīlāan | 033-018* God knows the meddlers among you and the ones telling their brethren: "Come over to our side!" They only take part in conflict for a little while, | قَدْ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ الْمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَالْقَائِلِينَ لِإخْوَانِهِمْ هَلُمَّ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَلاَ يَأْتُونَ الْبَأْسَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً |
| 'Ashiĥĥatan `Alaykum ۖ Fa'idhā Jā'a Al-Khawfu Ra'aytahum Yanžurūna 'Ilayka Tadūru 'A`yunuhum Kālladhī Yughshá `Alayhi Mina Al-Mawti ۖ Fa'idhā Dhahaba Al-Khawfu Salaqūkum Bi'alsinatin Ĥidādin 'Ashiĥĥatan `Alá Al-Khayri ۚ 'Ūlā'ika Lam Yu'uminū Fa'aĥbaţa Al-Lahu 'A`mālahum ۚ Wa Kāna Dhālika `Alá Al-Lahi Yasīrāan | 033-019* skimping towards you (all). Whenever fear comes over them, you will see them looking at you, their eyes rolling around like someone whom death has almost seized. Once fear leaves them. they will lash out at you (all) with [their] sharp tongues, yet skimping about [doing] any good. Those persons do not believe, so God has foiled their actions. That is so easy for God [to do]. | أَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَإِذَا جَاءَ الْخَوْفُ رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَالَّذِي يُغْشَى عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ ۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ الْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوكُمْ بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى الْخَيْرِ ۚ أُوْلَائِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا فَأَحْبَطَ اللَّهُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرا ً |
| Yaĥsabūna Al-'Aĥzāba Lam Yadh/habū ۖ Wa 'In Ya'ti Al-'Aĥzābu Yawaddū Law 'Annahum Bādūna Fī Al-'A`rābi Yas'alūna `An 'Anbā'ikum ۖ Wa Law Kānū Fīkum Mā Qātalū 'Illā Qalīlāan | 033-020* They reckon the Coalition will not go away. If the Coalition should come [again], they would like to be wandering around far away among the [desert] Arabs, asking for news about you. Yet even if they were among you, they would only fight a little. (III) | يَحْسَبُونَ الأَحْزَابَ لَمْ يَذْهَبُوا ۖ وَإِنْ يَأْتِ الأَحْزَابُ يَوَدُّوا لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ بَادُونَ فِي الأَعْرَابِ يَسْأَلُونَ عَنْ أَنْبَائِكُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ كَانُوا فِيكُمْ مَا قَاتَلُوا إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً |
| Laqad Kāna Lakum Fī Rasūli Al-Lahi 'Uswatun Ĥasanatun Liman Kāna Yarjū Al-Laha Wa Al-Yawma Al-'Ākhira Wa Dhakara Al-Laha Kathīrāan | 033-021* In God's messenger you have a fine model for someone who looks forward to [meeting] God and the Last Day, and mentions God frequently. | لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَة ٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرا ً |
| Wa Lammā Ra'á Al-Mu'uminūna Al-'Aĥzāba Qālū Hādhā Mā Wa`adanā Al-Lahu Wa Rasūluhu Wa Şadaqa Al-Lahu Wa Rasūluhu ۚ Wa Mā Zādahum 'Illā 'Īmānāan Wa Taslīmāan | 033-022* When believers saw the Coalition, they said: 'This is what God and His messenger have promised us. God and His messenger have told the truth." It merely increased them in faith and submission. | وَلَمَّا رَأَى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُه ُ وَصَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُه ُ ۚ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلاَّ إِيمَانا ً وَتَسْلِيما ً |
| Mina Al-Mu'uminīna Rijālun Şadaqū Mā `Āhadū Al-Laha `Alayhi ۖ Faminhum Man Qađá Naĥbahu Wa Minhum Man Yantažiru ۖ Wa Mā Baddalū Tabdīlāan | 033-023* Some believers are men who are sincere in what they pledge to God, while others have already fulfilled their mortal duty, and still others are waiting [their chance]; they have not changed in the least, | مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَه ُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلا ً |
| Liyajziya Al-Lahu Aş-Şādiqīna Bişidqihim Wa Yu`adhdhiba Al-Munāfiqīna 'In Shā'a 'Aw Yatūba `Alayhim ۚ 'Inna Al-Laha Kāna Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan | 033-024* so God may reward the truthful for their truthfulness and punish hypocrites if He so wishes, or else relent towards them. God is Forgiving, Merciful. | لِيَجْزِيَ اللَّهُ الصَّادِقِينَ بِصِدْقِهِمْ وَيُعَذِّبَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ إِنْ شَاءَ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورا ً رَحِيما ً |
| Waradda Al-Lahu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bighayžihim Lam Yanālū Khayrāan ۚ Wa Kafá Al-Lahu Al-Mu'uminīna Al-Qitāla ۚ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Qawīyāan `Azīzāan | 033-025* God sent the ones who disbelieved back in their fury; they did not accomplish any good. God spares believers the trouble of fighting; God is Strong, Powerful! | وَرَدَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا خَيْرا ً ۚ وَكَفَى اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ قَوِيّا ً عَزِيزا ً |
| Wa 'Anzala Al-Ladhīna Žāharūhum Min 'Ahli Al-Kitābi Min Şayāşīhim Wa Qadhafa Fī Qulūbihimu Ar-Ru`ba Farīqāan Taqtulūna Wa Ta'sirūna Farīqāan | 033-026* He has tossed some People of the Book who had backed them up, out of their strongholds and cast panic into their hearts; one group you killed while you captured another group. | وَأَنْزَلَ الَّذِينَ ظَاهَرُوهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الرُّعْبَ فَرِيقا ً تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقا ً |
| Wa 'Awrathakum 'Arđahum Wa Diyārahum Wa 'Amwālahum Wa 'Arđāan Lam Taţa'ūhā ۚ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrāan | 033-027* He let you inherit their land, their homes and their property, plus a land you have not yet set foot on. God is Capable of everything! The Prophet's Wives (IV) | وَأَوْرَثَكُمْ أَرْضَهُمْ وَدِيَارَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ وَأَرْضا ً لَمْ تَطَئُوهَا ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Qul Li'zwājika 'In Kuntunna Turidna Al-Ĥayā Ata Ad-Dunyā Wa Zīnatahā Fata`ālayna 'Umatti`kunna Wa 'Usarriĥkunna Sarāĥāan Jamīlāan | 033-028* 0 Prophet, tell your wives: "If you are wanting worldly life and its attraction, then come on! I'll let you enjoy them and dismiss you in a handsome fashion. | يَاأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِأزْوَاجِكَ إِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحا ً جَمِيلا ً |
| Wa 'In Kuntunna Turidna Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Ad-Dāra Al-'Ākhirata Fa'inna Al-Laha 'A`adda Lilmuĥsināti Minkunna 'Ajrāan `Ažīmāan | 033-029* However if you have been wanting [to see] God and His messenger, as well as having a home in the Hereafter, well God has prepared splendid payment for the kindly women among you. | وَإِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَه ُ وَالدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْمُحْسِنَاتِ مِنْكُنَّ أَجْرا ً عَظِيما ً |
| Yā Nisā'a An-Nabīyi Man Ya'ti Minkunna Bifāĥishatin Mubayyinatin Yuđā`af Lahā Al-`Adhābu Đi`fayni ۚ Wa Kāna Dhālika `Alá Al-Lahi Yasīrāan | 033-030* 0 wives of the Prophet, anyone of you who commits some flagrant act of misconduct shall have [her] punishment doubled twice over. That is easy for God [to do]. PART TWENTY-TWO (IV contd) | يَانِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ مَنْ يَأْتِ مِنْكُنَّ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍ يُضَاعَفْ لَهَا الْعَذَابُ ضِعْفَيْنِ وَكَانَ ۚ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرا ً |
| Wa Man Yaqnut Minkunna Lillahi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Ta`mal Şāliĥāan Nu'utihā 'Ajrahā Marratayni Wa 'A`tadnā Lahā Rizqāan Karīmāan | 033-031* "Yet We will give any of you who is devoted to God and His messenger, and acts honorably, her earnings twice over. We have reserved a generous provision for her. | وَمَنْ يَقْنُتْ مِنْكُنَّ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِه ِِ وَتَعْمَلْ صَالِحا ً نُؤْتِهَا أَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقا ً كَرِيما ً |
| Yā Nisā'a An-Nabīyi Lastunna Ka'aĥadin Mina An-Nisā' ۚ 'Ini Attaqaytunna Falā Takhđa`na Bil-Qawli Fayaţma`a Al-Ladhī Fī Qalbihi Marađun Wa Qulna Qawlāan Ma`rūfāan | 033-032* 0 wives of the Prophet, you are not like any other women! If you do your duty, then do not act too deferential while talking [to others] lest someone whose heart contains malice may thereby be encouraged. Employ suitable speech. | يَانِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَأَحَدٍ مِنَ النِسَاء إِنِ ۚ اتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلاَ تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِي فِي قَلْبِه ِِ مَرَضٌ وَقُلْنَ قَوْلا ً مَعْرُوفا ً |
| Wa Qarna Fī Buyūtikunna Wa Lā Tabarrajna Tabarruja Al-Jāhilīyati Al-'Ūlá ۖ Wa 'Aqimna Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Ātīna Az-Zakāata Wa 'Aţi`na Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu ۚ 'Innamā Yurīdu Al-Lahu Liyudh/hiba `Ankumu Ar-Rijsa 'Ahla Al-Bayti Wa Yuţahhirakum Taţhīrāan | 033-033* Remain in your homes and do not dress up fancily the way they used to dress during [the time of] primitive Ignorance. Keep up prayer and pay the welfare tax, and obey God and His messenger. God merely wants to remove any blight from you [since you are] People of the [Prophet's] House, and to cleanse you thoroughly. | وَقَرْنَ فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلاَ تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الأُولَى ۖ وَأَقِمْنَ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتِينَ الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِعْنَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ~ُ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرا ً |
| Wa Adhkurna Mā Yutlá Fī Buyūtikunna Min 'Āyāti Al-Lahi Wa Al-Ĥikmati ۚ 'Inna Al-Laha Kāna Laţīfāan Khabīrāan | 033-034* Remember any of God's verses and wisdom which are recited in your homes. God is Gracious, Informed." (v) | وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلَى فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ لَطِيفا ً خَبِيرا ً |
| 'Inna Al-Muslimīna Wa Al-Muslimāti Wa Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Wa Al-Qānitīna Wa Al-Qānitāti Wa Aş-Şādiqīna Wa Aş-Şādiqāti Wa Aş-Şābirīna Wa Aş-Şābirāti Wa Al-Khāshi`īna Wa Al-Khāshi`āti Wa Al-Mutaşaddiqīna Wa Al-Mutaşaddiqāti Wa Aş-Şā'imīna Wa Aş-Şā'imāti Wa Al-Ĥāfižīna Furūjahum Wa Al-Ĥāfižāti Wa Adh-Dhākirīna Al-Laha Kathīrāan Wa Adh-Dhākirāti 'A`adda Al-Lahu Lahum Maghfiratan Wa 'Ajrāan `Ažīmāan | 033-035* Muslim men and Muslim women, believing men and believing women, devout men and devout women, truthful men and truthful women, patient men and patient women, reverent men and reverent women, charitable men and charitable women, fasting men and fasting women, and men who safeguard their private parts and women who safeguard [theirs], and men who remember God often and women who remember [Him]-for [all of] them God has prepared forgiveness and a splendid wage. | إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْقَانِتَاتِ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالصَّادِقَاتِ وَالصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّابِرَاتِ وَالْخَاشِعِينَ وَالْخَاشِعَاتِ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقَاتِ وَالصَّائِمِينَ وَالصَّائِمَاتِ وَالْحَافِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَالْحَافِظَاتِ وَالذَّاكِرِينَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرا ً وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَة ً وَأَجْرا ً عَظِيما ً |
| Wa Mā Kāna Limu'uminin Wa Lā Mu'uminatin 'Idhā Qađá Al-Lahu Wa Rasūluhu 'Amrāan 'An Yakūna Lahumu Al-Khiyaratu Min 'Amrihim ۗ Wa Man Ya`şi Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Faqad Đalla Đalālāan Mubīnāan | 033-036* No believing man nor any believing woman should exercise any choice in their affair once God and His messenger have decided upon some matter. Anyone who disobeys God and His messenger has wandered off into manifest error. | وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَلاَ مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ~ُ أَمْرا ً أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَه ُ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلاَلا ً مُبِينا ً |
| Wa 'Idh Taqūlu Lilladhī 'An`ama Al-Lahu `Alayhi Wa 'An`amta `Alayhi 'Amsik `Alayka Zawjaka Wa Attaqi Al-Laha Wa Tukhfī Fī Nafsika Mā Al-Lahu Mubdīhi Wa Takhshá An-Nāsa Wa Allāhu 'Aĥaqqu 'An Takhshāhu ۖ Falammā Qađá Zaydun Minhā Waţarāan Zawwajnākahā Likay Lā Yakūna `Alá Al-Mu'uminīna Ĥarajun Fī 'Azwāji 'Ad`iyā'ihim 'Idhā Qađaw Minhunna Waţarāan ۚ Wa Kāna 'Amru Al-Lahi Maf`ūlāan | 033-037* Thus you told someone whom God had favored and whom you yourself have favored: "Hold on to your wife, and heed God," while you kept to yourself what God had disclosed and you dreaded people['s opinion], although it is more correct for you to dread God. Once Zayd had accomplished his purpose with her, We married her off to you so that there would be no objection for believers in respect to their adopted son's wives once they have accomplished their purpose with them. God's command must be done! | وَإِذْ تَقُولُ لِلَّذِي أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللَّهَ وَتُخْفِي فِي نَفْسِكَ مَا اللَّهُ مُبْدِيه ِِ وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَ وَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَاه ُ ۖ فَلَمَّا قَضَى زَيْدٌ مِنْهَا وَطَرا ً زَوَّجْنَاكَهَا لِكَيْ لاَ يَكُونَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌ فِي أَزْوَاجِ أَدْعِيَائِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرا ً ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ مَفْعُولا ً |
| Mā Kāna `Alá An-Nabīyi Min Ĥarajin Fīmā Farađa Al-Lahu Lahu ۖ Sunnata Al-Lahi Fī Al-Ladhīna Khalaw Min Qablu ۚ Wa Kāna 'Amru Al-Lahi Qadarāan Maqdūrāan | 033-038* The Prophet is not to be reproached for [doing] what God has stipulated for him to do. God's practice has been such with those who have passed on already-God's command is a pre-ordained decree | مَا كَانَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيمَا فَرَضَ اللَّهُ لَه ُ ۖ سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ فِي الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ قَدَرا ً مَقْدُورا ً |
| Al-Ladhīna Yuballighūna Risālāti Al-Lahi Wa Yakhshawnahu Wa Lā Yakhshawna 'Aĥadāan 'Illā Al-Laha ۗ Wa Kafá Bil-Lahi Ĥasībāan | 033-039* for those who transmit God's messages and dread him, while they do not dread anyone else than God. God suffices as a Reckoner. Muhammad the Last Prophet | الَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَالاَتِ اللَّهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَه ُ وَلاَ يَخْشَوْنَ أَحَدا ً إِلاَّ اللَّهَ ۗ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ حَسِيبا ً |
| Mā Kāna Muĥammadun 'Abā 'Aĥadin Min Rijālikum Wa Lakin Rasūla Al-Lahi Wa Khātama An-Nabīyīna ۗ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmāan | 033-040* Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but [he is] God's messenger and the Seal of the Prophets. God is Aware of everything! Piety (VI) | مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيما ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Adhkurū Al-Laha Dhikrāan Kathīrāan | 033-041* You who believe, remember God often. | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ ذِكْرا ً كَثِيرا ً |
| Wa Sabbiĥūhu Bukratan Wa 'Aşīlāan | 033-042* Celebrate him morning and evening; | وَسَبِّحُوه ُ بُكْرَة ً وَأَصِيلا ً |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī Yuşallī `Alaykum Wa Malā'ikatuhu Liyukhrijakum Mina Až-Žulumāti 'Ilá An-Nūri ۚ Wa Kāna Bil-Mu'uminīna Raĥīmāan | 033-043* He is the One Who accepts prayers from you, as do His angels, to lead you out of darkness into Light. He is Merciful with believers. | هُوَ الَّذِي يُصَلِّي عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلاَئِكَتُه ُ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۚ وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيما ً |
| Taĥīyatuhum Yawma Yalqawnahu Salāmun ۚ Wa 'A`adda Lahum 'Ajrāan Karīmāan | 033-044* Their greeting on the day they meet Him will be: "Peace!" He has prepared generous payment for them. | تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَه ُ سَلاَمٌ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرا ً كَرِيما ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu 'Innā 'Arsalnāka Shāhidāan Wa Mubashshirāan Wa Nadhīrāan | 033-045* 0 Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, herald and warner, | يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدا ً وَمُبَشِّرا ً وَنَذِيرا ً |
| Wa Dā`īāan 'Ilá Al-Lahi Bi'idhnihi Wa Sirājāan Munīrāan | 033-046* and as someone who invites people to [know] God by His permission, and as a shining lamp. | وَدَاعِيا ً إِلَى اللَّهِ بِإِذْنِه ِِ وَسِرَاجا ً مُنِيرا ً |
| Wa Bashshiri Al-Mu'uminīna Bi'anna Lahum Mina Al-Lahi Fađlāan Kabīrāan | 033-047* Proclaim to believers how they will have great bounty from God. | وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَضْلا ً كَبِيرا ً |
| Wa Lā Tuţi`i Al-Kāfirīna Wa Al-Munāfiqīna Wa Da` 'Adhāhum Wa Tawakkal `Alá Al-Lahi ۚ Wa Kafá Bil-Lahi Wa Kīlāan | 033-048* Do not obey disbelievers and hypocrites, Disregard their annoyance and rely on God: God suffices as a Trustee. Divorce | وَلاَ تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ وَدَعْ أَذَاهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Nakaĥtumu Al-Mu'umināti Thumma Ţallaqtumūhunna Min Qabli 'An Tamassūhunna Famā Lakum `Alayhinna Min `Iddatin Ta`taddūnahā ۖ Famatti`ūhunna Wa Sarriĥūhunna Sarāĥāan Jamīlāan | 033-049* You who believe, whenever you marry believing women, and then divorce them before you have touched them, you have no number [of months] to count in their case. Provide for them and release them in a handsome manner. Muhammad's Wives (again) | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍ تَعْتَدُّونَهَا ۖ فَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوهُنَّ سَرَاحا ً جَمِيلا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu 'Innā 'Aĥlalnā Laka 'Azwājaka Al-Lātī 'Ātayta 'Ujūrahunna Wa Mā Malakat Yamīnuka Mimmā 'Afā'a Al-Lahu `Alayka Wa Banāti `Ammika Wa Banāti `Ammātika Wa Banāti Khālika Wa Banāti Khālātika Al-Lātī Hājarna Ma`aka Wa Amra'atan Mu'uminatan 'In Wahabat Nafsahā Lilnnabīyi 'In 'Arāda An-Nabīyu 'An Yastankiĥahā Khālişatan Laka Min Dūni Al-Mu'uminīna ۗ Qad `Alimnā Mā Farađnā `Alayhim Fī 'Azwājihim Wa Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhum Likaylā Yakūna `Alayka Ĥarajun ۗ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan | 033-050* 0 Prophet, We have permitted you [to deal with] your wives whom you have given their allotments to, and anyone your right hands control from what God has furnished you [as captives], and your paternal uncles' and aunts' daughters, and your maternal uncles' and aunts' daughters who have migrated along with you, and any believing woman who bestows herself upon the Prophet, provided the Prophet wants to marry her; such is exclusively for you and not for [other] believers. We know what We have stipulated for them concerning their wives and anyone their right hands control, so it will not be held against you. God is Forgiving, Merciful. | يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَاجَكَ اللاَّتِي آتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّاتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالاَتِكَ اللاَّتِي هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَامْرَأَة ً مُؤْمِنَة ً إِنْ وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ أَنْ يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَة ً لَكَ مِنْ دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِي أَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ لِكَيْلاَ يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورا ً رَحِيما ً |
| Turjī Man Tashā'u Minhunna Wa Tu'uwī 'Ilayka Man Tashā'u ۖ Wa Mani Abtaghayta Mimman `Azalta Falā Junāĥa `Alayka ۚ Dhālika 'Adná 'An Taqarra 'A`yunuhunna Wa Lā Yaĥzanna Wa Yarđayna Bimā 'Ātaytahunna Kulluhunna Wa ۚ Allāhu Ya`lamu Mā Fī Qulūbikum ۚ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu `Alīmāan Ĥalīmāan | 033-051* You may make any one of them you wish wait, and let any one you wish approach you. It will not be held against you concerning anyone you may desire among those whom you have set aside. That is more suitable so that you may comfort them and they will not be saddened, and [instead] pleased with anything you may give them all. God knows what is in your hearts; God is Aware, Lenient. | تُرْجِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُؤْوِي إِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ ۖ وَمَنِ ابْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ۚ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَنْ تَقَرَّ أَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلاَ يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَا آتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيما ً حَلِيما ً |
| Lā Yaĥillu Laka An-Nisā' Min Ba`du Wa Lā 'An Tabaddala Bihinna Min 'Azwājin Wa Law 'A`jabaka Ĥusnuhunna 'Illā Mā Malakat Yamīnuka ۗ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Raqībāan | 033-052* No [other] women will be lawful for you later on nor may you exchange them for other wives, even though their beauty may entice you, except for someone your right hand controls. God is an Observer over everything. Etiquette; Affairs of State (VII) | لاَ يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِسَاء مِنْ بَعْدُ وَلاَ أَنْ تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَاجٍ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ إِلاَّ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ رَقِيبا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Tadkhulū Buyūta An-Nabīyi 'Illā 'An Yu'udhana Lakum 'Ilá Ţa`āmin Ghayra Nāžirīna 'Ināhu Wa Lakin 'Idhā Du`ītum Fādkhulū Fa'idhā Ţa`imtum Fāntashirū Wa Lā Musta'nisīna Liĥadīthin ۚ 'Inna Dhālikum Kāna Yu'udhī An-Nabīya Fayastaĥyi Minkum Wa ۖ Allāhu Lā Yastaĥyi Mina Al-Ĥaqqi ۚ Wa 'Idhā Sa'altumūhunna Matā`āan Fās'alūhunna Min Warā'i Ĥijābin ۚ Dhālikum 'Aţharu Liqulūbikum Wa Qulūbihinna ۚ Wa Mā Kāna Lakum 'An Tu'udhū Rasūla Al-Lahi Wa Lā 'An Tankiĥū 'Azwājahu Min Ba`dihi 'Abadāan ۚ 'Inna Dhālikum Kāna `Inda Al-Lahi `Ažīmāan | 033-053* You who believe, do not enter the Prophet's [private] quarters unless an invitation has been extended to you for a meal, though still without watching how it is prepared. However once you have been invited, then go on in; and once you have been fed, then disperse, not indulging in conversation. That has been disturbing the Prophet and he feels ashamed [to tell] you so. Yet God is not ashamed [to raise] the Truth. Whenever you ask (his wives) for any object, ask them for it from behind a curtain. That will be purer for your hearts as well as for their hearts. It is not proper for you to annoy God's messenger, nor ever to marry his wives after him; that would be serious with God! | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتَ النَّبِيِّ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاه ُ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَادْخُلُوا فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانْتَشِرُوا وَلاَ مُسْتَأْنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ ۚ إِنَّ ذَلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِي النَّبِيَّ فَيَسْتَحْيِ مِنْكُمْ ۖ وَاللَّهُ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ۚ وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَاعا ً فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ ۚ ذَلِكُمْ أَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَنْ تُؤْذُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلاَ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوا أَزْوَاجَه ُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ أَبَدا ً ۚ إِنَّ ذَلِكُمْ كَانَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَظِيما ً |
| 'In Tubdū Shay'āan 'Aw Tukhfūhu Fa'inna Al-Laha Kāna Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmāan | 033-054* Whether you reveal anything or hide it, God is Aware of everything. | إِنْ تُبْدُوا شَيْئا ً أَوْ تُخْفُوه ُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيما ً |
| Lā Junāĥa `Alayhinna Fī 'Ābā'ihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'ihinna Wa Lā 'Ikhwānihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'i 'Ikhwānihinna Wa Lā 'Abnā'i 'Akhawātihinna Wa Lā Nisā'ihinna Wa Lā Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhunna ۗ Wa Attaqīna Al-Laha ۚ 'Inna Al-Laha Kāna `Alá Kulli Shay'in Shahīdāan | 033-055* There is no objection to their [appearing before] their fathers, their sons nor their brothers, nor their brothers' and sisters' sons, nor their own womenfolk, nor anyone their right hands control. Heed God (you women); God is a Witness for everything! On Greeting the Prophet | لاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِي آبَائِهِنَّ وَلاَ أَبْنَائِهِنَّ وَلاَ إِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلاَ أَبْنَاءِ إِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلاَ أَبْنَاءِ أَخَوَاتِهِنَّ وَلاَ نِسَائِهِنَّ وَلاَ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُنَّ ۗ وَاتَّقِينَ اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدا ً |
| 'Inna Al-Laha Wa Malā'ikatahu Yuşallūna `Alá An-Nabīyi ۚ Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Şallū `Alayhi Wa Sallimū Taslīmāan | 033-056* God and His angels accept prayers for the Prophet. You who believe, pray for him (too) and greet him properly. | إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَه ُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيما ً |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Yu'udhūna Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu La`anahumu Al-Lahu Fī Ad-Dunyā Wa Al-'Ākhirati Wa 'A`adda Lahum `Adhābāan Muhīnāan | 033-057* God will curse those who [try to] annoy God and His messenger in this world and the Hereafter, and will prepare shameful torment for them. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَه ُ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابا ً مُهِينا ً |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Yu'udhūna Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Bighayri Mā Aktasabū Faqadi Aĥtamalū Buhtānāan Wa 'Ithmāan Mubīnāan | 033-058* Those who annoy believing men and believing women without their having deserved it, will assume [the guilt of] slander and [commit] a clear offence against themselves. Rules for Modesty (VIII) | وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا اكْتَسَبُوا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلُوا بُهْتَانا ً وَإِثْما ً مُبِينا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Qul Li'zwājika Wa Banātika Wa Nisā'i Al-Mu'uminīna Yudnīna `Alayhinna Min Jalābībihinna ۚ Dhālika 'Adná 'An Yu`rafna Falā Yu'udhayna ۗ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan | 033-059* 0 Prophet, tell your wives and daughters, and believers' wives as well, to draw their cloaks close around themselves. That is more appropriate so they may be recognized and not molested. God is Forgiving, Merciful. | يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِأزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلاَبِيبِهِنَّ ۚ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَنْ يُعْرَفْنَ فَلاَ يُؤْذَيْنَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورا ً رَحِيما ً |
| La'in Lam Yantahi Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī Qulūbihim Marađun Wa Al-Murjifūna Fī Al-Madīnati Lanughriyannaka Bihim Thumma Lā Yujāwirūnaka Fīhā 'Illā Qalīlāan | 033-060* If hypocrites and those whose hearts contain malice do not stop, as well as the agitators in Madina, We shall stir you up against them. Then they will live alongside you as neighbors for only a little while [longer]; | لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالْمُرْجِفُونَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لاَ يُجَاوِرُونَكَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ قَلِيلا ً |
| Mal`ūnīna ۖ 'Aynamā Thuqifū 'Ukhidhū Wa Quttilū Taqtīlāan | 033-061* cursed wherever they are encountered, they will be seized and completely routed. | مَلْعُونِينَ ۖ أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوا أُخِذُوا وَقُتِّلُوا تَقْتِيلا ً |
| Sunnata Al-Lahi Fī Al-Ladhīna Khalaw Min Qablu ۖ Wa Lan Tajida Lisunnati Al-Lahi Tabdīlāan | 033-062* [Such is] God's practice with those who have passed on before; you will never find any change in God's practice. Philosphy of History | سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ فِي الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلا ً |
| Yas'aluka An-Nāsu `Ani As-Sā`ati ۖ Qul 'Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Al-Lahi ۚ Wa Mā Yudrīka La`alla As-Sā`ata Takūnu Qarībāan | 033-063* People will ask you about the Hour. SAY: "Knowledge about it rests only with God." What will make you realize that perhaps the Hour is near! | يَسْأَلُكَ النَّاسُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبا ً |
| 'Inna Al-Laha La`ana Al-Kāfirīna Wa 'A`adda Lahum Sa`īrāan | 033-064* God will curse disbelievers and prepare a Blaze for them | إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَعَنَ الْكَافِرِينَ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيرا ً |
| Khālidīna Fīhā 'Abadāan ۖ Lā Yajidūna Walīyāan Wa Lā Naşīrāan | 033-065* to remain in for ever. They will not find any patron nor supporter; | خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدا ً ۖ لاَ يَجِدُونَ وَلِيّا ً وَلاَ نَصِيرا ً |
| Yawma Tuqallabu Wujūhuhum Fī An-Nāri Yaqūlūna Yā Laytanā 'Aţa`nā Al-Laha Wa 'Aţa`nā Ar-Rasūlā | 033-066* on a day when their faces will be twisted by the Fire, they will say: "If we had only obeyed God and obeyed the Messenger!" | يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَا لَيْتَنَا أَطَعْنَا اللَّهَ وَأَطَعْنَا الرَّسُولَا |
| Wa Qālū Rabbanā 'Innā 'Aţa`nā Sādatanā Wa Kubarā'anā Fa'ađallūnā As-Sabīlā | 033-067* They will (also) say: "Our Lord, we have obeyed our superiors and our great men, and they led us off from the Way. | وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّا أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَاءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا السَّبِيلَا |
| Rabbanā 'Ātihim Đi`fayni Mina Al-`Adhābi Wa Al-`Anhum La`nāan Kabīrāan | 033-068* Our Lord, give them double torment and curse them with a great curse!" (IX) | رَبَّنَا آتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ وَالْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنا ً كَبِيرا ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Takūnū Kālladhīna 'Ādhaw Mūsá Fabarra'ahu Al-Lahu Mimmā Qālū ۚ Wa Kāna `Inda Al-Lahi Wajīhāan | 033-069* You who believe, do not be like those who abused Moses. cleared him of what they said. He became outstanding with God. | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ آذَوْا مُوسَى فَبَرَّأَهُ اللَّهُ مِمَّا قَالُوا ۚ وَكَانَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَجِيها ً |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Attaqū Al-Laha Wa Qūlū Qawlāan Sadīdāan | 033-070* who believe, heed God and speak straight to the point; | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلا ً سَدِيدا ً |
| Yuşliĥ Lakum 'A`mālakum Wa Yaghfir Lakum Dhunūbakum ۗ Wa Man Yuţi`i Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Faqad Fāza Fawzāan `Ažīmāan | 033-071* He will improve your actions for you and forgive you your sins. Anyone who obeys God and His messenger will achieve a splendid Triumph. God's Trust; The Human Dilemma | يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَالَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَه ُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزا ً عَظِيما ً |
| 'Innā `Arađnā Al-'Amānata `Alá As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Al-Jibāli Fa'abayna 'An Yaĥmilnahā Wa 'Ashfaqna Minhā Wa Ĥamalahā Al-'Insānu ۖ 'Innahu Kāna Žalūmāan Jahūlāan | 033-072* We offered the trust to Heaven and Earth, and to the mountains too, yet they refused to carry it, and shrank back from it. However man accepted it: he has been unfair [to himself], ignorant! | إِنَّا عَرَضْنَا الأَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا الإِنْسَانُ ۖ إِنَّه ُ كَانَ ظَلُوما ً جَهُولا ً |
| Liyu`adhdhiba Al-Lahu Al-Munāfiqīna Wa Al-Munāfiqāti Wa Al-Mushrikīna Wa Al-Mushrikāti Wa Yatūba Al-Lahu `Alá Al-Mu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti ۗ Wa Kāna Al-Lahu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan | 033-073* Still God will punish hypocritical men and hypocritical women and associating men and associating women. However God relents with believing men and believing women. God is Forgiving, Merciful! | لِيُعَذِّبَ اللَّهُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ وَالْمُشْرِكَاتِ وَيَتُوبَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورا ً رَحِيما ً |
