| Aqra' Biāsmi Rabbika Al-Ladhī Khalaqa | 096-001. Read in the name of your Lord Who created. | اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ |
| Khalaqa Al-'Insāna Min `Alaqin | 096-002. He created man from a clot. | خَلَقَ الإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَق ٍ |
| Aqra' Wa Rabbuka Al-'Akramu | 096-003. Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, | اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ |
| Al-Ladhī `Allama Bil-Qalami | 096-004. Who taught (to write) with the pen | الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ |
| `Allama Al-'Insāna Mā Lam Ya`lam | 096-005. Taught man what he knew not. | عَلَّمَ الإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ |
| Kallā 'Inna Al-'Insāna Layaţghá | 096-006. Nay! man is most surely inordinate, | كَلاَّ إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَى |
| 'An Ra'āhu Astaghná | 096-007. Because he sees himself free from want. | أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى |
| 'Inna 'Ilá Rabbika Ar-Ruj`á | 096-008. Surely to your Lord is the return. | إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى |
| 'Ara'ayta Al-Ladhī Yanhá | 096-009. Have you seen him who forbids | أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى |
| `Abdāan 'Idhā Şallá | 096-010. A servant when he prays? | عَبْدا ً إِذَا صَلَّى |
| 'Ara'ayta 'In Kāna `Alá Al-Hudá | 096-011. Have you considered if he were on the right way, | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى |
| 'Aw 'Amara Bit-Taqwá | 096-012. Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? | أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى |
| 'Ara'ayta 'In Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá | 096-013. Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
| 'Alam Ya`lam Bi'anna Allāha Yará | 096-014. Does he not know that Allah does see? | أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى |
| Kallā La'in Lam Yantahi Lanasfa`ā Bin-Nāşiyahi | 096-015. Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, | كَلاَّ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَه ِِ لَنَسْفَعَا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ |
| Nāşiyatin Kādhibatin Khāţi'ahin | 096-016. A lying, sinful forehead. | نَاصِيَة ٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَة ٍ |
| Falyad`u Nādiyah | 096-017. Then let him summon his council, | فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَه |
| Sanad`u Az-Zabāniyaha | 096-018. We too would.summon the braves of the army. | سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ |
| Kallā Lā Tuţi`hu Wa Asjud Wāqtarib | 096-019. Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). | كَلاَّ لاَ تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ |
