Lā 'Uqsimu Bihadhā Al-Baladi  | 090-001. Nay! I swear by this city. | لاَ أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ |
Wa 'Anta Ĥillun Bihadhā Al-Baladi  | 090-002. And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- | وَأَنْتَ حِلّ ٌ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ |
Wa Wālidin Wa Mā Walada  | 090-003. And the begetter and whom he begot. | وَوَالِد ٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ |
Laqad Khalaqnā Al-'Insāna Fī Kabadin  | 090-004. Certainly We have created man to be in distress. | لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَد ٍ |
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lan Yaqdira `Alayhi 'Aĥadun  | 090-005. Does he think that no one has power over him? | أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَد ٌ |
Yaqūlu 'Ahlaktu Mālāan Lubadāan  | 090-006. He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. | يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالا ً لُبَدا ً |
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lam Yarahu 'Aĥadun  | 090-007. Does he think that no one sees him? | أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ~ُ أَحَد ٌ |
'Alam Naj`al Lahu `Aynayni  | 090-008. Have We not given him two eyes, | أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَه ُُ عَيْنَيْنِ |
Wa Lisānāan Wa Shafatayni  | 090-009. And a tongue and two lips, | وَلِسَانا ً وَشَفَتَيْنِ |
Wa Hadaynāhu An-Najdayni  | 090-010. And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? | وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ |
Falā Aqtaĥama Al-`Aqabaha  | 090-011. But he would not attempt the uphill road, | فَلاَ اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Al-`Aqabahu  | 090-012. And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ |
Fakku Raqabahin  | 090-013. (It is) the setting free of a slave, | فَكُّ رَقَبَة ٍ |
'Aw 'Iţ`āmun Fī Yawmin Dhī Masghabahin  | 090-014. Or the giving of food in a day of hunger | أَوْ إِطْعَام ٌ فِي يَوْم ٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَة ٍ |
Yatīmāan Dhā Maqrabahin  | 090-015. To an orphan, having relationship, | يَتِيما ً ذَا مَقْرَبَة ٍ |
'Aw Miskīnāan Dhā Matrabahin  | 090-016. Or to the poor man lying in the dust. | أَوْ مِسْكِينا ً ذَا مَتْرَبَة ٍ |
Thumma Kāna Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Tawāşaw Biş-Şabri Wa Tawāşaw Bil-Marĥamahi  | 090-017. Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. | ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ |
'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Maymanahi  | 090-018. These are the people of the right hand. | أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi'āyātinā Hum 'Aşĥābu Al-Mash'amahi  | 090-019. And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. | وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ |
`Alayhim Nārun Mu'uşadahun  | 090-020. On them is fire closed over. | عَلَيْهِمْ نَار ٌ مُؤصَدَة ٌ |
