Nūn Wa Al-Qalami Wa Mā Yasţurūna | 068-001. Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write, |
Mā 'Anta Bini`mati Rabbika Bimajnūnin | 068-002. By the grace of your Lord you are not mad. |
Wa 'Inna Laka La'ajrāan Ghayra Mamnūnin | 068-003. And most surely you shall have a reward never to be cut off.
Wa 'Innaka La`alá Khuluqin `Ažīmin | 068-004. And most surely you conform (yourself) to sublime morality. |
Fasatubşiru Wa Yubşirūna | 068-005. So you shall see, and they (too) shall see, | فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ |
Bi'ayyyikumu Al-Maftūnu | 068-006. Which of you is afflicted with madness. |
'Inna Rabbaka Huwa 'A`lamu Biman Đalla `An Sabīlihi Wa Huwa 'A`lamu Bil-Muhtadīna | 068-007. Surely your Lord best knows him who errs from His way, and He best knows the followers of the right course.
Falā Tuţi`i Al-Mukadhdhibīna | 068-008. So do not yield to the rejecters. |
Wa Ddū Law Tud/hinu Fayud/hinūna | 068-009. They wish that you should be pliant so they (too) would be pliant. |
Wa Lā Tuţi` Kulla Ĥallāfin Mahīnin | 068-010. And yield not to any mean swearer |
Hammāzin Mashshā'in Binamīmin | 068-011. Defamer, going about with slander |
Mannā`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin 'Athīmin | 068-012. Forbidder of good, outstepping the limits, sinful, |
`Utullin Ba`da Dhālika Zanīmin | 068-013. Ignoble, besides all that, base-born; |
'An Kāna Dhā Mālin Wa Banīna | 068-014. Because he possesses wealth and sons. |
'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna | 068-015. When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore.
Sanasimuhu `Alá Al-Khurţūmi | 068-016. We will brand him on the nose. |
'Innā Balawnāhum Kamā Balawnā 'Aşĥāba Al-Jannati 'Idh 'Aqsamū Layaşrimunnahā Muşbiĥīna | 068-017. Surely We will try them as We tried the owners of the garden, when they swore that they would certainly cut off the produce in the morning, | إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ |
Wa Lā Yastathnūna | 068-018. And were not willing to set aside a portion (for the poor). |
Faţāfa `Alayhā Ţā'ifun Min Rabbika Wa Hum Nā'imūna | 068-019. Then there encompassed it a visitation from your Lord while they were sleeping.
Fa'aşbaĥat Kālşşarīmi | 068-020. So it became as black, barren land. |
Fatanādaw Muşbiĥīna | 068-021. And they called out to each other in the morning, |
'Ani Aghdū `Alá Ĥarthikum 'In Kuntum Şārimīna | 068-022. Saying: Go early to your tilth if you would cut (the produce). |
Fānţalaqū Wa Hum Yatakhāfatūna | 068-023. So they went, while they consulted together secretly, |
'An Lā Yadkhulannahā Al-Yawma `Alaykum Miskīnun | 068-024. Saying: No poor man shall enter it today upon you.
Waghadaw `Alá Ĥardin Qādirīna | 068-025. And in the morning they went, having the power to prevent. |
Falammā Ra'awhā Qālū 'Innā Lađāllūna | 068-026. But when they saw it, they said: Most surely we have gone astray |
Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna | 068-027. Nay! we are made to suffer privation. |
Qāla 'Awsaţuhum 'Alam 'Aqul Lakum Lawlā Tusabbiĥūna | 068-028. The best of them said: Did I not say to you, Why do you not glorify (Allah)?
Qālū Subĥāna Rabbinā 'Innā Kunnā Žālimīna | 068-029. They said: Glory be to our Lord, surely we were unjust. |
Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatalāwamūna | 068-030. Then some of them advanced against others, blaming each other.
Qālū Yā Waylanā 'Innā Kunnā Ţāghīna | 068-031. Said they: O woe to us! surely we were inordinate: |
`Asá Rabbunā 'An Yubdilanā Khayrāan Minhā 'Innā 'Ilá Rabbinā Rāghibūna | 068-032. Maybe, our Lord will give us instead one better than it; surely to our Lord do we make our humble petition.
Kadhālika Al-`Adhābu Wa La`adhābu Al-'Ākhirati 'Akbaru Law Kānū Ya`lamūna | 068-033. Such is the chastisement, and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is greater, did they but know!
'Inna Lilmuttaqīna `Inda Rabbihim Jannāti An-Na`īmi | 068-034. Surely those who guard (against evil) shall have with their Lord gardens of bliss.
'Afanaj`alu Al-Muslimīna Kālmujrimīna | 068-035. What! shall We then make (i.e. treat) those who submit as the guilty? |
Mā Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna | 068-036. What has happened to you? How do you judge? |
'Am Lakum Kitābun Fīhi Tadrusūna | 068-037. Or have you a book wherein you read, |
'Inna Lakum Fīhi Lamā Takhayyarūna | 068-038. That you have surely therein what you choose? |
'Am Lakum 'Aymānun `Alaynā Bālighatun 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati 'Inna Lakum Lamā Taĥkumūna | 068-039. Or have you received from Us an agreement confirmed by an oath extending to the day of resurrection that you shall surely have what you demand?
Salhum 'Ayyuhum Bidhālika Za`īmun | 068-040. Ask them which of them will vouch for that, | سَلْهُم أَيُّهُمْ بِذَلِكَ زَعِيم ٌ |
'Am Lahum Shurakā'u Falya'tū Bishurakā'ihim 'In Kānū Şādiqīna | 068-041. Or have.they associates if they are truthful. |
Yawma Yukshafu `An Sāqin Wa Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Falā Yastaţī`ūna | 068-042. On the day when there shall be a severe affliction, and they shall be called upon to make obeisance, but they shall not be able, | يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاق ٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ |
Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun Wa Qad Kānū Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Wa Hum Sālimūna | 068-043. Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them; and they were called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.
Fadharnī Wa Man Yukadhdhibu Bihadhā Al-Ĥadīthi Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Lā Ya`lamūna | 068-044. So leave Me and him who rejects this announcement; We will overtake them by degrees, from whence they perceive not: | فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
Wa 'Umlī Lahum 'Inna Kaydī Matīnun | 068-045. And I do bear with them, surely My plan is firm. |
'Am Tas'aluhum 'Ajrāan Fahum Min Maghramin Muthqalūna | 068-046. Or do you ask from them a reward, so that they are burdened with debt? |
'Am `Indahumu Al-Ghaybu Fahum Yaktubūna | 068-047. Or have they (the knowledge of) the unseen, so that they write (it) down?
Fāşbir Liĥukmi Rabbika Wa Lā Takun Kaşāĥibi Al-Ĥūti 'Idh Nādá Wa Huwa Makžūmun | 068-048. So wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish, when he cried while he was in distress.
Lawlā 'An Tadārakahu Ni`matun Min Rabbihi Lanubidha Bil-`Arā'i Wa Huwa Madhmūmun | 068-049. Were it not that favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would certainly have been cast down upon the naked Found while he was blamed.
Fājtabāhu Rabbuhu Faja`alahu Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna | 068-050. Then his Lord chose him, and He made him of the good.
Wa 'In Yakādu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Layuzliqūnaka Bi'abşārihim Lammā Sami`ū Adh-Dhikra Wa Yaqūlūna 'Innahu Lamajnūnun | 068-051. And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad.
Wa Mā Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna | 068-052. And it is naught but a reminder to the nations. |
