Wa Ash-Shamsi Wa Đuĥāhā (Ash-Shams: 1).

091.001 By the sun and his brightness,
|
وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا |
| Wa Al-Qamari 'Idhā Talāhā (Ash-Shams: 2).
|
091.002 And the moon when she followeth him,
|
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلاَهَا |
| Wa An-Nahāri 'Idhā Jallāhā (Ash-Shams: 3).
|
091.003 And the day when it revealeth him,
|
وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلاَّهَا |
| Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā Yaghshāhā (Ash-Shams: 4).
|
091.004 And the night when it enshroudeth him,
|
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا |
| Wa As-Samā'i Wa Mā Banāhā (Ash-Shams: 5).
|
091.005 And the heaven and Him Who built it,
|
وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا |
| Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Ţaĥāhā (Ash-Shams: 6).
|
091.006 And the earth and Him Who spread it,
|
وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا |
| Wa Nafsin Wa Mā Sawwāhā (Ash-Shams: 7).
|
091.007 And a soul and Him Who perfected it
|
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا |
| Fa'alhamahā Fujūrahā Wa Taqwāhā (Ash-Shams: 8).
|
091.008 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.
|
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا |
| Qad 'Aflaĥa Man Zakkāhā (Ash-Shams: 9).
|
091.009 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow,
|
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا |
| Wa Qad Khāba Man Dassāhā (Ash-Shams: 10).
|
091.010 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it.
|
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا |
| Kadhdhabat Thamūdu Biţaghwāhā (Ash-Shams: 11).
|
091.011 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride,
|
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا |
| 'Idhi Anba`atha 'Ashqāhā (Ash-Shams: 12).
|
091.012 When the basest of them broke forth
|
إِذِ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا |
| Faqāla Lahum Rasūlu Allāhi Nāqata Allāhi Wa Suqyāhā (Ash-Shams: 13).
|
091.013 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink!
|
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا |
| Fakadhdhabūhu Fa`aqarūhā Fadamdama `Alayhim Rabbuhum Bidhanbihim Fasawwāhā (Ash-Shams: 14).
|
091.014 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).
|
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا |
| Wa Lā Yakhāfu `Uqbāhā (Ash-Shams: 15).
|
091.015 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events).
|
وَلاَ يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا |
