'Alif-Lām -Rā ۚ Tilka 'Āyā tu A l-Kitā bi Wa Q ur'ā nin Mubī nin
Alif-Lām-Rā. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ān, and none but Allāh (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Qur'ān. (Al-Hijr 15:1)
أَلِف-لَام-رَ ا ۚ تِلْكَ آيَا تُ ا لْكِتَا بِ وَقُ رْآنٍ مُبِينٍ
Ru bamā Yawaddu A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū Law Kānū Muslimī na
Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allāh's Will in Islām Islāmic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. (Al-Hijr 15:2)
رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ
Dh arhum Ya'kulū Wa Yatamatta`ū Wa Yulhihimu A l-'Amalu ۖ Fasaw fa Ya`lamū na
Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! (Al-Hijr 15:3)
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ ا لأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْ فَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Mā 'Ahlaknā Min Q aryatin 'Illā Wa Lahā Kitā bun Ma`lū mun
And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. (Al-Hijr 15:4)
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن ْ قَ رْيَةٍ إِلاَّ وَلَهَا كِتَا بٌ مَعْلُومٌ
Mā Tasbiq u Min 'Umm atin 'Ajalahā Wa Mā Yasta'kh irū na
No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. (Al-Hijr 15:5)
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِن ْ أُمَّ ةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِ رُونَ
Wa Q ālū Yā 'Ayyuhā A l-Ladh ī Nuzzila `Alay hi A dh -Dh ikru 'Inn aka Lamaj nū nun
And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW ) to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'ān) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. (Al-Hijr 15:6)
وَقَ الُوا يَا أَيُّهَا ا لَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْ هِ ا ل ذِّكْرُ إِنَّ كَ لَمَجْ نُونٌ
Law Mā Ta'tīnā Bil-Malā 'ikati 'In Kun ta Mina A ş -Ş ādiq ī na
"Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" (Al-Hijr 15:7)
لَوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِا لْمَلاَئِكَةِ إِن ْ كُنْ تَ مِنَ ا ل صَّ ادِقِ ينَ
Mā Nunazzilu A l-Malā 'ikata 'Illā Bil-Ĥaq q i Wa Mā Kānū 'Idh āan Mun žar ī na
We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! (Al-Hijr 15:8)
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ا لْمَلاَئِكَةَ إِلاَّ بِا لْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُو ا إِذا ً مُنْ ظَ ر ِينَ
'Inn ā Naĥnu Nazzalnā A dh -Dh ikra Wa 'Inn ā Lahu Laĥāfižū na
Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'ān) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr 15:9)
إِنَّ ا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ا ل ذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّ ا لَهُ لَحَافِظُ ونَ
Wa Laq ad 'Arsalnā Min Q ab lika Fī Sh iya`i A l-'Awwalī na
Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. (Al-Hijr 15:10)
وَلَقَ د ْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن ْ قَ بْ لِكَ فِي شِيَعِ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Wa Mā Ya'tīhim Min Ra sū lin 'Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi'ū na
And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. (Al-Hijr 15:11)
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِن ْ رَ سُو لٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُ ونَ
Kadh ālika Naslukuhu Fī Q ulū bi A l-Muj r imī na
Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimûn [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. (Al-Hijr 15:12)
كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُ لُو بِ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمِينَ
Lā Yu'uminū na Bihi ۖ Wa Q ad Kh alat Sunn atu A l-'Awwalī na
They would not believe in it (the Qur'ān), and already the example of (Allāh's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. (Al-Hijr 15:13)
لاَ يُؤْمِنُو نَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَ د ْ خَ لَتْ سُنَّ ةُ ا لأَوَّلِينَ
Wa Law Fataĥnā `Alayhim Bābāan Mina A s-Samā 'i Fažallū Fī hi Ya`ru jū na
And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, (Al-Hijr 15:14)
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابا ً مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ فَظَ لُّوا فِي هِ يَعْرُجُونَ
Laq ālū 'Inn amā Sukkira t 'Ab ş āru nā Bal Naĥnu Q aw mun Masĥūrū na
They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." (Al-Hijr 15:15)
لَقَ الُو ا إِنَّ مَا سُكِّرَ تْ أَبْ صَ ارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَ وْ مٌ مَسْحُورُونَ
Wa Laq ad Ja`alnā Fī A s-Samā 'i Burūjāan Wa Zayyann āhā Lilnn āžir ī na
And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders. (Al-Hijr 15:16)
وَلَقَ د ْ جَعَلْنَا فِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ بُرُوجا ً وَزَيَّنَّ اهَا لِلنَّ اظِ ر ِينَ
Wa Ĥafižnāhā Min Kulli Sh ayţ ā nin Ra jī min
And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitān (devil). (Al-Hijr 15:17)
وَحَفِظْ نَاهَا مِن ْ كُلِّ شَيْطَ ا نٍ رَ جِيمٍ
'Illā Mani A stara q a A s-Sam `a Fa'atba`ahu Sh ihā bun Mubī nun
Except him (devil) that gains hearing by stealing, he is pursued by a clear flaming fire. (Al-Hijr 15:18)
إِلاَّ مَنِ ا سْتَرَ قَ ا ل سَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَا بٌ مُبِينٌ
Wa A l-'Arđa Madad nāhā Wa 'Alq aynā Fīhā Ra wāsiya Wa 'An batnā Fīhā Min Kulli Sh ay 'in Mawzū nin
And the earth We spread out, and placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion. (Al-Hijr 15:19)
وَالأَرْضَ مَدَد ْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَ يْنَا فِيهَا رَ وَاسِيَ وَأَنْ بَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن ْ كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ مَوْزُونٍ
Wa Ja`alnā Lakum Fīhā Ma`āyish a Wa Man Lastum Lahu Bir āziq ī na
And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals]. (Al-Hijr 15:20)
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَن ْ لَسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَ ازِقِ ينَ
Wa 'In Min Sh ay 'in 'Illā `In danā Kh azā 'inuhu Wa Mā Nunazziluhu~ 'Illā Biq adar in Ma`lū min
And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure. (Al-Hijr 15:21)
وَإِن ْ مِن ْ شَيْ ءٍ إِلاَّ عِنْ دَنَا خَ زَا ئِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ~ ُ إِلاَّ بِقَ دَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ
Wa 'Arsalnā A r-R iyā ĥa Lawāq iĥa Fa'an zalnā Mina A s-Samā 'i Mā 'an Fa'asq aynākumū hu Wa Mā 'An tum Lahu Bikh āzinī na
And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like]. (Al-Hijr 15:22)
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ا ل رِّيَا حَ لَوَاقِ حَ فَأَنْ زَلْنَا مِنَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ مَا ء ً فَأَسْقَ يْنَاكُمُو هُ وَمَا أَنْ تُمْ لَهُ بِخَ ازِنِينَ
Wa 'Inn ā Lanaĥnu Nuĥyī Wa Numī tu Wa Naĥnu A l-Wār ith ū na
And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors. (Al-Hijr 15:23)
وَإِنَّ ا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِي تُ وَنَحْنُ ا لْوَار ِثُونَ
Wa Laq ad `Alim nā A l-Mustaq dimī na Min kum Wa Laq ad `Alim nā A l-Musta'kh ir ī na
And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards. (Al-Hijr 15:24)
وَلَقَ د ْ عَلِمْنَا ا لْمُسْتَقْ دِمِي نَ مِنْ كُمْ وَلَقَ د ْ عَلِمْنَا ا لْمُسْتَأْخِ ر ِينَ
Wa 'Inn a Ra bbaka Huwa Yaĥsh uru hum ۚ 'Inn ahu Ĥakī mun `Alī mun
And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing. (Al-Hijr 15:25)
وَإِنّ َ رَ بَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ هُ حَكِي مٌ عَلِيمٌ
Wa Laq ad Kh alaq nā A l-'In sā na Min Ş alş ā lin Min Ĥama'iin Masnū nin
And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. (Al-Hijr 15:26)
وَلَقَ د ْ خَ لَقْ نَا ا لإِن سَا نَ مِن ْ صَ لْصَ ا لٍ مِن ْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Wa A l-Jā nn a Kh alaq nā hu Min Q ab lu Min Nā r i A s-Samū mi
And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. (Al-Hijr 15:27)
وَالْجَا نّ َ خَ لَقْ نَا هُ مِن ْ قَ بْ لُ مِن ْ نَا ر ِ ا ل سَّمُومِ
Wa 'Idh Q ā la Ra bbuka Lilmalā 'ikati 'Inn ī Kh āliq un Bash arā an Min Ş alş ā lin Min Ĥama'iin Masnū nin
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. (Al-Hijr 15:28)
وَإِذْ قَ ا لَ رَ بُّكَ لِلْمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنِّ ي خَ الِق ٌ بَشَرا ً مِن ْ صَ لْصَ ا لٍ مِن ْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Fa'idh ā Sawwaytuhu Wa Nafakh tu Fī hi Min Rūĥī Faq a`ū Lahu Sājidī na
"So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." (Al-Hijr 15:29)
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْ تُ فِي هِ مِن ْ رُوحِي فَقَ عُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
Fasajada A l-Malā 'ikatu Kulluhum 'Aj ma`ū na
So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. (Al-Hijr 15:30)
فَسَجَدَ ا لْمَلاَئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْ مَعُونَ
'Illā 'Ib lī sa 'Abá 'An Yakū na Ma`a A s-Sājidī na
Except Iblīs (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. (Al-Hijr 15:31)
إِلاَّ إِبْ لِي سَ أَبَى أَن ْ يَكُو نَ مَعَ ا ل سَّاجِدِينَ
Q ā la Yā 'Ib lī su Mā Laka 'Allā Takū na Ma`a A s-Sājidī na
(Allāh) said: "O Iblīs (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" (Al-Hijr 15:32)
قَ ا لَ يَا إِبْ لِي سُ مَا لَكَ أَلاَّ تَكُو نَ مَعَ ا ل سَّاجِدِينَ
Q ā la Lam 'Akun Li'sjuda Libash ar in Kh alaq tahu Min Ş alş ā lin Min Ĥama'iin Masnū nin
[Iblīs (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." (Al-Hijr 15:33)
قَ ا لَ لَمْ أَكُن ْ لِأسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَ لَقْ تَهُ مِن ْ صَ لْصَ ا لٍ مِن ْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Q ā la Fākh ru j Minhā Fa'inn aka Ra jī mun
(Allāh) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajīm (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsīr At-Tabarī] (Al-Hijr 15:34)
قَ ا لَ فَاخْ رُج ْ مِنْ هَا فَإِنَّ كَ رَ جِيمٌ
Wa 'Inn a `Alay ka A l-La`nata 'Ilá Yaw mi A d-Dī ni
"And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." (Al-Hijr 15:35)
وَإِنّ َ عَلَيْ كَ ا ل لَّعْنَةَ إِلَى يَوْ مِ ا ل دِّينِ
Q ā la Ra bbi Fa'an žir nī 'Ilá Yaw mi Yub `ath ū na
[Iblīs (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." (Al-Hijr 15:36)
قَ ا لَ رَ بِّ فَأَنْ ظِ ر ْنِي إِلَى يَوْ مِ يُبْ عَثُونَ
Q ā la Fa'inn aka Mina A l-Mun žar ī na
Allāh said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, (Al-Hijr 15:37)
قَ ا لَ فَإِنَّ كَ مِنَ ا لْمُنْ ظَ ر ِينَ
'Ilá Yaw mi A l-Waq ti A l-Ma`lū mi
"Till the Day of the time appointed." (Al-Hijr 15:38)
إِلَى يَوْ مِ ا لْوَقْ تِ ا لْمَعْلُومِ
Q ā la Ra bbi Bimā 'Agh waytanī La'uzayyinann a Lahum Fī A l-'Arđi Wa La'ugh wiyann ahum 'Aj ma`ī na
[Iblīs (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. (Al-Hijr 15:39)
قَ ا لَ رَ بِّ بِمَا أَغْ وَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنّ َ لَهُمْ فِي ا لأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْ وِيَنَّ هُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
'Illā `Ibādaka Minhumu A l-Mukh laş ī na
"Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." (Al-Hijr 15:40)
إِلاَّ عِبَادَكَ مِنْ هُمُ ا لْمُخْ لَصِ ينَ
Q ā la Hādh ā Ş ir āţ un `Alay ya Mustaq ī mun
(Allāh) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." (Al-Hijr 15:41)
قَ ا لَ هَذَا صِ رَ ا طٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِ يمٌ
'Inn a `Ibādī Lay sa Laka `Alayhim Sulţ ā nun 'Illā Mani A ttaba`aka Mina A l-Gh āwī na
"Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghāwīn (Mushrikûn and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). (Al-Hijr 15:42)
إِنّ َ عِبَادِي لَيْ سَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَ ا نٌ إِلاَّ مَنِ ا تَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ا لْغَ اوِينَ
Wa 'Inn a Jahann ama Lamaw`iduhum 'Aj ma`ī na
"And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. (Al-Hijr 15:43)
وَإِنّ َ جَهَنَّ مَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
Lahā Sab `atu 'Ab wā bin Likulli Bā bin Minhum Juz'un Maq sū mun
"It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. (Al-Hijr 15:44)
لَهَا سَبْ عَةُ أَبْ وَا بٍ لِكُلِّ بَا بٍ مِنْ هُمْ جُزْءٌ مَقْ سُومٌ
'Inn a A l-Muttaq ī na Fī Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin
"Truly! The Muttaqûn (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise). (Al-Hijr 15:45)
إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِ ي نَ فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُونٍ
A d kh ulūhā Bisalā min 'Āminī na
"(It will be said to them): 'Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.' (Al-Hijr 15:46)
ا د ْخُ لُوهَا بِسَلاَمٍ آمِنِينَ
Wa Naza`nā Mā Fī Ş udūr ihim Min Gh illin 'Ikh wānāan `Alá Suru r in Mutaq ābilī na
"And We shall remove from their breasts any sense of injury (that they may have), (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. (Al-Hijr 15:47)
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُ دُور ِهِمْ مِن ْ غِ لٍّ إِخْ وَاناً عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُتَقَ ابِلِينَ
Lā Yamassuhum Fīhā Naş abun Wa Mā Hum Minhā Bimukh ra jī na
"No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it." (Al-Hijr 15:48)
لاَ يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَ بٌ وَمَا هُمْ مِنْ هَا بِمُخْ رَ جِينَ
Nabbi' `Ibādī 'Ann ī 'Anā A l-Gh afū ru A r-Ra ĥī mu
Declare (O Muhammad SAW) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful. (Al-Hijr 15:49)
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّ ي أَنَا ا لْغَ فُو رُ ا ل رَّ حِيمُ
Wa 'Ann a `Adh ābī Huwa A l-`Adh ā bu A l-'Alī mu
And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment. (Al-Hijr 15:50)
وَأَنّ َ عَذَابِي هُوَ ا لْعَذَا بُ ا لأَلِيمُ
Wa Nabbi'hum `An Đ ay fi 'Ib rā hī ma
And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrāhim (Abraham). (Al-Hijr 15:51)
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ْ ضَ يْ فِ إِبْ رَ اهِيمَ
'Idh Dakh alū `Alay hi Faq ālū Salāmāan Q ā la 'Inn ā Min kum Wajilū na
When they entered unto him, and said: Salāman (peace)! [Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "Indeed! We are afraid of you." (Al-Hijr 15:52)
إِذْ دَخَ لُوا عَلَيْ هِ فَقَ الُوا سَلاَما ً قَ ا لَ إِنَّ ا مِنْ كُمْ وَجِلُونَ
Q ālū Lā Tawjal 'Inn ā Nubash sh iru ka Bigh ulā min `Alī min
They (the angels) said: "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom." (Al-Hijr 15:53)
قَ الُوا لاَ تَوْجَلْ إِنَّ ا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُ لاَمٍ عَلِيمٍ
Q ā la 'Abash sh artumūnī `Alá 'An Massaniya A l-Kibaru Fabima Tubash sh irū na
[Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?" (Al-Hijr 15:54)
قَ ا لَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَى أَن ْ مَسَّنِيَ ا لْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
Q ālū Bash sh arnā ka Bil-Ĥaq q i Falā Takun Mina A l-Q āniţ ī na
They (the angels) said: "We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing ones." (Al-Hijr 15:55)
قَ الُوا بَشَّرْنَا كَ بِا لْحَقِّ فَلاَ تَكُن ْ مِنَ ا لْقَ انِطِ ينَ
Q ā la Wa Man Yaq naţ u Min Ra ĥmati Ra bbihi~ 'Illā A đ-Đ ā llū na
[Ibrāhim (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?" (Al-Hijr 15:56)
قَ ا لَ وَمَن ْ يَقْ نَطُ مِن ْ رَ حْمَةِ رَ بِّهِ إِلاَّ ا ل ضَّ ا لُّونَ
Q ā la Famā Kh aţ bukum 'Ayyuhā A l-Mursalū na
[Ibrāhim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?" (Al-Hijr 15:57)
قَ ا لَ فَمَا خَ طْ بُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ا لْمُرْسَلُونَ
Q ālū 'Inn ā 'Ursilnā 'Ilá Q aw min Muj r imī na
They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners). (Al-Hijr 15:58)
قَ الُو ا إِنَّ ا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَ وْ مٍ مُجْ ر ِمِينَ
'Illā 'Ā la Lūţ in 'Inn ā Lamunajjūhum 'Aj ma`ī na
"(All) except the family of Lout (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction). (Al-Hijr 15:59)
إِلاَّ آلَ لُو ط ٍ إِنَّ ا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
'Illā A m ra 'atahu Q addarnā ۙ 'Inn ahā Lamina A l-Gh ābir ī na
"Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)." (Al-Hijr 15:60)
إِلاَّ ا مْرَ أَتَهُ قَ دَّرْنَا ۙ إِنَّ هَا لَمِنَ ا لْغَ ابِر ِينَ
Falamm ā Jā 'a 'Ā la Lūţ in A l-Mursalū na
Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). (Al-Hijr 15:61)
فَلَمَّ ا جَا ءَ آلَ لُو ط ٍ ا لْمُرْسَلُونَ
Q ā la 'Inn akum Q aw mun Mun karū na
He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." (Al-Hijr 15:62)
قَ ا لَ إِنَّ كُمْ قَ وْ مٌ مُنْ كَرُونَ
Q ālū Bal Ji'nā ka Bimā Kānū Fī hi Yam tarū na
They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. (Al-Hijr 15:63)
قَ الُوا بَلْ جِئْنَا كَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِي هِ يَمْتَرُونَ
Wa 'Ataynā ka Bil-Ĥaq q i Wa 'Inn ā Laş ādiq ū na
"And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. (Al-Hijr 15:64)
وَأَتَيْنَا كَ بِا لْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ا لَصَ ادِقُ ونَ
Fa'asr i Bi'ahlika Biq iţ `in Mina A l-Lay li Wa A ttabi` 'Ad bāra hum Wa Lā Yaltafit Min kum 'Aĥadun Wa A m đū Ĥay th u Tu'umarū na
"Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." (Al-Hijr 15:65)
فَأَسْر ِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِ طْ عٍ مِنَ ا ل لَّيْ لِ وَا تَّبِعْ أَد ْبَارَ هُمْ وَلاَ يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْ كُمْ أَحَدٌ وَا مْضُ وا حَيْ ثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
Wa Q ađaynā 'Ilay hi Dh ālika A l-'Am ra 'Ann a Dābir a Hā 'uulā ' Maq ţ ū `un Muş biĥī na
And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. (Al-Hijr 15:66)
وَقَ ضَ يْنَا إِلَيْ هِ ذَلِكَ ا لأَمْرَ أَنّ َ دَابِر َ هَا ؤُلاَء مَقْ طُ و عٌ مُصْ بِحِينَ
Wa Jā 'a 'Ahlu A l-Madīnati Yastab sh irū na
And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). (Al-Hijr 15:67)
وَجَا ءَ أَهْلُ ا لْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْ شِرُونَ
Q ā la 'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Đ ayfī Falā Tafđaĥū ni
[Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. (Al-Hijr 15:68)
قَ ا لَ إِنّ َ هَا ؤُلاَء ضَ يْفِي فَلاَ تَفْضَ حُونِ
Wa A ttaq ū A ll aha Wa Lā Tukh zū ni
"And fear Allāh and disgrace me not." (Al-Hijr 15:69)
وَاتَّقُ وا ا للَّ هَ وَلاَ تُخْ زُونِ
Q ālū 'Awalam Nanhaka `Ani A l-`Ālamī na
They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamīn (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" (Al-Hijr 15:70)
قَ الُو ا أَوَلَمْ نَنْ هَكَ عَنِ ا لْعَالَمِينَ
Q ā la Hā 'uulā ' Banātī 'In Kun tum Fā`ilī na
[Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." (Al-Hijr 15:71)
قَ ا لَ هَا ؤُلاَء بَنَاتِي إِن ْ كُنْ تُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
La`am ru ka 'Inn ahum Lafī Sakra tihim Ya`mahū na
Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. (Al-Hijr 15:72)
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّ هُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَ تِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Fa'akh adh at/humu A ş -Ş ayĥatu Mush r iq ī na
So As-Saīhah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; (Al-Hijr 15:73)
فَأَخَ ذَتْهُمُ ا ل صَّ يْحَةُ مُشْر ِقِ ينَ
Faja`alnā `Āliyahā Sāfilahā Wa 'Am ţ arnā `Alayhim Ĥijāra tan Min Sijjī lin
And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. (Al-Hijr 15:74)
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَ رْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَ ة ً مِن ْ سِجِّيلٍ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yā tin Lilmutawassimī na
Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allāh). (Al-Hijr 15:75)
إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَا تٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
Wa 'Inn ahā Labisabī lin Muq ī min
And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). (Al-Hijr 15:76)
وَإِنَّ هَا لَبِسَبِي لٍ مُقِ يمٍ
'Inn a Fī Dh ālika La'ā yatan Lilmu'uminī na
Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. (Al-Hijr 15:77)
إِنّ َ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَة ً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa 'In Kā na 'Aş ĥā bu A l-'Aykati Lažālimī na
And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allāh), were also Zālimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). (Al-Hijr 15:78)
وَإِن ْ كَا نَ أَصْ حَا بُ ا لأَيْكَةِ لَظَ الِمِينَ
Fān taq am nā Minhum Wa 'Inn ahumā Labi'imā min Mubī nin
So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. (Al-Hijr 15:79)
فَانْ تَقَ مْنَا مِنْ هُمْ وَإِنَّ هُمَا لَبِإِمَا مٍ مُبِينٍ
Wa Laq ad Kadh dh aba 'Aş ĥā bu A l-Ĥij r i A l-Mursalī na
And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. (Al-Hijr 15:80)
وَلَقَ د ْ كَذَّبَ أَصْ حَا بُ ا لْحِجْ ر ِ ا لْمُرْسَلِينَ
Wa 'Ātaynāhum 'Āyātinā Fakānū `Anhā Mu`r iđī na
And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. (Al-Hijr 15:81)
وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْ هَا مُعْر ِضِ ينَ
Wa Kānū Yanĥitū na Mina A l-Jibā li Buyūtāan 'Āminī na
And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. (Al-Hijr 15:82)
وَكَانُوا يَنْ حِتُو نَ مِنَ ا لْجِبَا لِ بُيُوتا ً آمِنِينَ
Fa'akh adh at/humu A ş -Ş ayĥatu Muş biĥī na
But As-Saīhah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). (Al-Hijr 15:83)
فَأَخَ ذَتْهُمُ ا ل صَّ يْحَةُ مُصْ بِحِينَ
Famā 'Agh ná `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaksibū na
And all that which they used to earn availed them not. (Al-Hijr 15:84)
فَمَا أَغْ نَى عَنْ هُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Wa Mā Kh alaq nā A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā 'Illā Bil-Ĥaq q i ۗ Wa 'Inn a A s-Sā`ata La'ā tiyatun ۖ Fāş faĥi A ş -Ş afĥa A l-Jamī la
And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW), their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihād holy fighting in Allāh's Cause]. (Al-Hijr 15:85)
وَمَا خَ لَقْ نَا ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَا لأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلاَّ بِا لْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنّ َ ا ل سَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصْ فَحِ ا ل صَّ فْحَ ا لْجَمِيلَ
'Inn a Ra bbaka Huwa A l-Kh allā q u A l-`Alī mu
Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. (Al-Hijr 15:86)
إِنّ َ رَ بَّكَ هُوَ ا لْخَ لاَّقُ ا لْعَلِيمُ
Wa Laq ad 'Ātaynā ka Sab `āan Mina A l-Math ānī Wa A l-Q ur'ā na A l-`Ažī ma
And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathāni (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Sûrat Al-Fātiha) and the Grand Qur'ān. (Al-Hijr 15:87)
وَلَقَ د ْ آتَيْنَا كَ سَبْ عا ً مِنَ ا لْمَثَانِي وَا لْقُ رْآنَ ا لْعَظِ يمَ
Lā Tamuddann a `Aynay ka 'Ilá Mā Matta`nā Bihi~ 'Azwājāan Minhum Wa Lā Taĥzan `Alayhim Wa A kh fiđ Janāĥaka Lilmu'uminī na
Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). (Al-Hijr 15:88)
لاَ تَمُدَّنّ َ عَيْنَيْ كَ إِلَى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجا ً مِنْ هُمْ وَلاَ تَحْزَن ْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَا خْ فِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Q ul 'Inn ī 'Anā A n -Nadh ī r u A l-Mubī nu
And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." (Al-Hijr 15:89)
وَقُ لْ إِنِّ ي أَنَا ا ل نَّ ذِي رُ ا لْمُبِينُ
Kamā 'An zalnā `Alá A l-Muq tasimī na
As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). (Al-Hijr 15:90)
كَمَا أَنْ زَلْنَا عَلَى ا لْمُقْ تَسِمِينَ
Al-Ladh ī na Ja`alū A l-Q ur'ā na `Iđī na
Who have made the Qur'ān into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). (Al-Hijr 15:91)
ا لَّذِي نَ جَعَلُوا ا لْقُ رْآنَ عِضِ ينَ
Fawara bbika Lanas'alann ahum 'Aj ma`ī na
So, by your Lord (O Muhammad SAW), We shall certainly call all of them to account. (Al-Hijr 15:92)
فَوَرَ بِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّ هُمْ أَجْ مَعِينَ
`Amm ā Kānū Ya`malū na
For all that they used to do (Al-Hijr 15:93)
عَمَّ ا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Fāş da` Bimā Tu'umaru Wa 'A`r iđ `Ani A l-Mush r ikī na
Therefore proclaim openly (Allāh's Message Islāmic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers, etc. - see V.2:105). (Al-Hijr 15:94)
فَاصْ دَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْر ِضْ عَنِ ا لْمُشْر ِكِينَ
'Inn ā Kafaynā ka A l-Mustahzi'ī na
Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers (Al-Hijr 15:95)
إِنَّ ا كَفَيْنَا كَ ا لْمُسْتَهْزِئِ ينَ
Al-Ladh ī na Yaj `alū na Ma`a A ll āhi 'Ilahāan 'Ākh ara ۚ Fasaw fa Ya`lamū na
Who set up along with Allāh another ilāh (god), they will come to know. (Al-Hijr 15:96)
ا لَّذِي نَ يَجْ عَلُو نَ مَعَ ا للَّ هِ إِلَها ً آخَ رَ ۚ فَسَوْ فَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Laq ad Na`lamu 'Ann aka Yađī q u Ş ad ru ka Bimā Yaq ūlū na
Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. (Al-Hijr 15:97)
وَلَقَ د ْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ كَ يَضِ ي قُ صَ د ْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُ ولُونَ
Fasabbiĥ Biĥam di Ra bbika Wa Kun Mina A s-Sājidī na
So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). (Al-Hijr 15:98)
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَ بِّكَ وَكُن ْ مِنَ ا ل سَّاجِدِينَ
Wa A `bud Ra bbaka Ĥattá Ya'tiyaka A l-Yaq ī nu
And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). (Al-Hijr 15:99)
وَاعْبُد ْ رَ بَّكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ ا لْيَقِ ينُ
