Waylun Lilmuţaffifīna  | Woe to those who defraud,[83.1] | وَيْل ٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ |
Al-Ladhīna 'Idhā Aktālū `Alá An-Nāsi Yastawfūna  | who when, they take by measure from men, take the full measure,[83.2] | الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Kālūhum 'Aw Wazanūhum Yukhsirūna  | but when they give by measure or by weight to others, they give less than due.[83.3] | وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ |
'Alā Yažunnu 'Ūla'ika 'Annahum Mab`ūthūna  | Do they not think that they will be raised to life again[83.4] | أَلاَ يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ |
Liyawmin `Ažīmin  | on a Mighty Day,[83.5] | لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيم ٍ |
Yawma Yaqūmu An-Nāsu Lirabbi Al-`Ālamīna  | a Day when all mankind will stand before the Rabb of the worlds?[83.6] | يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-Fujjāri Lafī Sijjīnin  | Indeed not! The record of the wicked is in Sijjeen (prison register),[83.7] | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّين ٍ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Sijjīnun  | what will explain to you, what the Sijjeen is?[83.8] | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّين ٌ |
Kitābun Marqūmun  | This is a written book of hell.[83.9] | كِتَاب ٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
Waylun Yawma'idhin Lilmukadhdhibīna  | Woe on that Day to the disbelievers,[83.10] | وَيْل ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
Al-Ladhīna Yukadhdhibūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni  | who deny the Day of Judgment![83.11] | الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ |
Wa Mā Yukadhdhibu Bihi 'Illā Kullu Mu`tadin 'Athīmin  | None denies it except the sinful transgressor.[83.12] | وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيم ٍ |
'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna  | Who, when Our revelations are recited to him, says: “These are the tales of the ancient peoples."[83.13] | إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ |
Kallā Bal Rāna `Alá Qulūbihim Mā Kānū Yaksibūna  | Of course not! In fact their misdeeds have caused a covering on their hearts.[83.14] | كَلاَّ بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
Kallā 'Innahum `An Rabbihim Yawma'idhin Lamaĥjūbūna  | Indeed on that Day, they shall be debarred from the vision of their Rabb.[83.15] | كَلاَّ إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ |
Thumma 'Innahum Laşālū Al-Jaĥīmi  | Then they shall be made to enter the hell,[83.16] | ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِيمِ |
Thumma Yuqālu Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna  | and told: “This is what you used to deny."[83.17] | ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-'Abrāri Lafī `Illīyīna  | But, surely the record of the righteous is in `Illiyeen (register of exalted ones),[83.18] | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā `Illīyūna  | and what will explain to you, what the `Illiyeen is?[83.19] | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ |
Kitābun Marqūmun  | This is a written book,[83.20] | كِتَاب ٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
Yash/haduhu Al-Muqarrabūna  | attested by those who are nearest to Allah (angels).[83.21] | يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
'Inna Al-'Abrāra Lafī Na`īmin  | Surely the righteous will be in bliss,[83.22] | إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيم ٍ |
`Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna  | reclining on soft couches, looking all around,[83.23] | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
Ta`rifu Fī Wujūhihim Nađrata An-Na`īmi  | and you will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss.[83.24] | تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ |
Yusqawna Min Raĥīqin Makhtūmin  | Their thirst will be quenched with the choicest sealed wine,[83.25] | يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيق ٍ مَخْتُوم ٍ |
Khitāmuhu Miskun Wa Fī Dhālika Falyatanāfasi Al-Mutanāfisūna  | and the seal will be of musk. Those who wish to excel above others, let them endeavor to excel in this.[83.26] | خِتَامُه ُُ مِسْك ٌ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ |
Wa Mizājuhu Min Tasnīmin  | That wine shall have a mixture of Tasnïm,[83.27] | وَمِزَاجُه ُُ مِنْ تَسْنِيم ٍ |
`Aynāan Yashrabu Bihā Al-Muqarrabūna  | a spring, at which those nearest to Allah will drink.[83.28] | عَيْنا ً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Ajramū Kānū Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Yađĥakūna  | and punished while the righteous will be rewarded with soft couches, choicest wines and special spring water During their life on earth, the culprits used to mock at the believers,[83.29] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Marrū Bihim Yataghāmazūna  | and wink at one another as they passed them by.[83.30] | وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ |
Wa 'Idhā Anqalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihimu Anqalabū Fakihīna  | When they returned to their own people they returned jesting.[83.31] | وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ |
Wa 'Idhā Ra'awhum Qālū 'Inna Hā'uulā' Lađāllūna  | And when they saw the believers, they used to say: “These are the people who have surely gone astray,”[83.32] | وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء لَضَالُّونَ |
Wa Mā 'Ursilū `Alayhim Ĥāfižīna  | although they had not been sent as guardians over them.[83.33] | وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ |
Fālyawma Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Mina Al-Kuffāri Yađĥakūna  | On that Day, the believers shall be laughing at the unbelievers,[83.34] | فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ |
`Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna  | as they recline on couches and gaze at them:[83.35] | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
Hal Thūwiba Al-Kuffāru Mā Kānū Yaf`alūna  | “Have not the unbelievers been fully rewarded for what they used to do?”[83.36] | هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ |
