Waylun Lilmuţaffifī na Woe to those who defraud,[83.1] وَيْل ٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِي نَ
Al-Ladh ī na 'Idh ā A ktālū `Alá A n -Nā si Yastawfū na who when, they take by measure from men, take the full measure,[83.2] ا لَّذِي نَ إِذَا ا كْتَالُوا عَلَى ا ل نّ َا سِ يَسْتَوْفُو نَ
Wa 'Idh ā Kālūhum 'Aw Wazanūhum Yukh sirū na but when they give by measure or by weight to others, they give less than due.[83.3] وَإِذَا كَا لُ وهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُو نَ
'Alā Yažunn u 'Ū la'ika 'Ann ahum Mab `ūth ū na Do they not think that they will be raised to life again[83.4] أَلاَ يَظُنّ ُ أُ ولَئِكَ أَنَّ هُم ْ مَبْ عُوثُو نَ
Liyawmin `Ažī min on a Mighty Day,[83.5] لِيَوْمٍ عَظِي مٍ
Yawma Yaqū mu A n -Nā su Lirabbi A l-`Ālamī na a Day when all mankind will stand before the Rabb of the worlds?[83.6] يَوْمَ يَقُو مُ ا ل نّ َا سُ لِرَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ
Kallā 'Inn a Kitā ba A l-Fujjā r i Lafī Sijjī nin Indeed not! The record of the wicked is in Sijjeen (prison register),[83.7] كَلاَّ إِنّ َ كِتَا بَ ا لفُجَّا ر ِ لَفِي سِجِّي نٍ
Wa Mā 'Ad rā ka Mā Sijjī nun what will explain to you, what the Sijjeen is?[83.8] وَمَا أَد ْرَا كَ مَا سِجِّي نٌ
Kitā bun Marqū mun This is a written book of hell.[83.9] كِتَا بٌ مَرْقُو مٌ
Waylun Yawma'idh in Lilmukadh dh ibī na Woe on that Day to the disbelievers,[83.10] وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِي نَ
Al-Ladh ī na Yukadh dh ibū na Biyawmi A d-Dī ni who deny the Day of Judgment![83.11] ا لَّذِي نَ يُكَذِّبُو نَ بِيَوْمِ ا ل دِّي نِ
Wa Mā Yukadh dh ibu Bihi 'Illā Kullu Mu`tadin 'Ath ī min None denies it except the sinful transgressor.[83.12] وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِي مٍ
'Idh ā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Ā yātunā Qā la 'Asāţī r u A l-'Awwalī na Who, when Our revelations are recited to him, says: “These are the tales of the ancient peoples."[83.13] إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَا لَ أَسَاطِي ر ُا لأَوَّلِي نَ
Kallā Bal Rā na `Alá Qulūbihim Mā Kānū Yaksibū na Of course not! In fact their misdeeds have caused a covering on their hearts.[83.14] كَلاَّ بَلْ رَا نَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِم ْ مَا كَا نُوا يَكْسِبُو نَ
Kallā 'Inn ahum `An Rabbihim Yawma'idh in Lamaĥjūbū na Indeed on that Day, they shall be debarred from the vision of their Rabb.[83.15] كَلاَّ إِنَّ هُمْ عَن ْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُو نَ
Th umm a 'Inn ahum Laşālū A l-Jaĥī mi Then they shall be made to enter the hell,[83.16] ثُمّ َ إِنَّ هُمْ لَصَالُوا ا لْجَحِي مِ
Th umm a Yuqā lu Hādh ā A l-Ladh ī Kun tum Bihi Tukadh dh ibū na and told: “This is what you used to deny."[83.17] ثُمّ َ يُقَا لُ هَذَا ا لَّذِي كُن تُم ْ بِهِِ تُكَذِّبُو نَ
Kallā 'Inn a Kitā ba A l-'Ab rā r i Lafī `Illīyī na But, surely the record of the righteous is in `Illiyeen (register of exalted ones),[83.18] كَلاَّ إِنّ َ كِتَا بَ ا لأَبْ رَا ر ِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّي نَ
Wa Mā 'Ad rā ka Mā `Illīyū na and what will explain to you, what the `Illiyeen is?[83.19] وَمَا أَد ْرَا كَ مَا عِلِّيُّو نَ
Kitā bun Marqū mun This is a written book,[83.20] كِتَا بٌ مَرْقُو مٌ
Yash /haduhu A l-Muqarrabū na attested by those who are nearest to Allah (angels).[83.21] يَشْهَدُهُ ا لْمُقَرَّبُو نَ
'Inn a A l-'Ab rā ra Lafī Na`ī min Surely the righteous will be in bliss,[83.22] إِنّ َ ا لأَبْ رَا رَ لَفِي نَعِي مٍ
`Alá A l-'Arā 'iki Yan žurū na reclining on soft couches, looking all around,[83.23] عَلَى ا لأَرَائِكِ يَن ظُرُو نَ
Ta`r ifu Fī Wujūhihim Nađrata A n -Na`ī mi and you will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss.[83.24] تَعْر ِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ا ل نَّ عِي مِ
Yusqawna Min Raĥī qin Makh tū min Their thirst will be quenched with the choicest sealed wine,[83.25] يُسْقَوْنَ مِن ْ رَحِي قٍ مَخْتُو مٍ
Kh itāmuhu Miskun Wa Fī Dh ālika Falyatanāfasi A l-Mutanāfisū na and the seal will be of musk. Those who wish to excel above others, let them endeavor to excel in this.[83.26] خِتَامُهُُمِسْكٌ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ا لْمُتَنَافِسُو نَ
Wa Mizājuhu Min Tasnī min That wine shall have a mixture of Tasnïm,[83.27] وَمِزَاجُهُُمِن ْ تَسْنِي مٍ
`Aynāan Yash rabu Bihā A l-Muqarrabū na a spring, at which those nearest to Allah will drink.[83.28] عَيْن اً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ا لْمُقَرَّبُو نَ
'Inn a A l-Ladh ī na 'Aj ramū Kānū Mina A l-Ladh ī na 'Ā manū Yađĥakū na and punished while the righteous will be rewarded with soft couches, choicest wines and special spring water During their life on earth, the culprits used to mock at the believers,[83.29] إِنّ َ ا لَّذِي نَ أَجْ رَمُوا كَا نُوا مِنَ ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُو نَ
Wa 'Idh ā Marrū Bihim Yatagh āmazū na and wink at one another as they passed them by.[83.30] وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُو نَ
Wa 'Idh ā A n qalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihimu A n qalabū Fakihī na When they returned to their own people they returned jesting.[83.31] وَإِذَا ا ن قَلَبُو ا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ ا ن قَلَبُوا فَكِهِي نَ
Wa 'Idh ā Ra'awhum Qālū 'Inn a Hā 'uulā ' Lađā llū na And when they saw the believers, they used to say: “These are the people who have surely gone astray,”[83.32] وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُ و ا إِنّ َ هَاؤُلاَء لَضَا لُّو نَ
Wa Mā 'Ursilū `Alayhim Ĥāfižī na although they had not been sent as guardians over them.[83.33] وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِي نَ
Fālyawma A l-Ladh ī na 'Ā manū Mina A l-Kuffā r i Yađĥakū na On that Day, the believers shall be laughing at the unbelievers,[83.34] فَالْيَوْمَ ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا مِنَ ا لْكُفَّا ر ِ يَضْحَكُو نَ
`Alá A l-'Arā 'iki Yan žurū na as they recline on couches and gaze at them:[83.35] عَلَى ا لأَرَائِكِ يَن ظُرُو نَ
Hal Th ūwiba A l-Kuffā ru Mā Kānū Yaf`alū na “Have not the unbelievers been fully rewarded for what they used to do?”[83.36] هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ا لْكُفَّا رُ مَا كَا نُوا يَفْعَلُو نَ
