81) Sūrat At-Takwīr

81) سُورَة التَّكوِير

'Idhā Ash-Shamsu Kūwirat When the sun will cease to shine;[81.1] إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā An-Nujūmu Ankadarat when the stars will loose their luster;[81.2] وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jibālu Suyyirat when the mountains will be blown away;[81.3] وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-`Ishāru `Uţţilat when the ten-month pregnant she-camels will be left unattended;[81.4] وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Wuĥūshu Ĥushirat when the wild beasts will be brought together;[81.5] وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Biĥāru Sujjirat when the oceans will be set ablaze;[81.6] وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā An-Nufūsu Zūwijat when the souls will be reunited with the bodies;[81.7] وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Maw'ūdatu Su'ilat when the infant girls buried alive (here reference is made to the Pre-Islamic Arab custom of burying new born girls alive) will be questioned[81.8] وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ
Bi'ayyi Dhanbin Qutilat for what sin she was killed;[81.9] بِأَيِّ ذَنْب ٍ قُتِلَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Aş-Şuĥufu Nushirat when the record will be laid open;[81.10] وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā As-Samā'u Kushiţat when the heaven will be stripped bare;[81.11] وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jaĥīmu Su``irat when hell will be set to blaze,[81.12] وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ
Wa 'Idhā Al-Jannatu 'Uzlifat and when the paradise will be brought near:[81.13] وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ
`Alimat Nafsun Mā 'Aĥđarat then each soul shall know what it has bought with it.[81.14] عَلِمَتْ نَفْس ٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ
Falā 'Uqsimu Bil-Khunnasi ut no! I swear by the retreating stars;[81.15] فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ
Al-Jawāri Al-Kunnasi that run their course and hide;[81.16] الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ
Wa Al-Layli 'Idhā `As`asa by the night as it dissipates;[81.17] وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ
Wa Aş-Şubĥi 'Idhā Tanaffasa by the morning when it breaths again:[81.18] وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
'Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin surely this word (The Qur’an) is brought by a noble Messenger (Gabriel),[81.19] إِنَّه ُُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُول ٍ كَرِيم ٍ
Dhī Qūwatin `Inda Dhī Al-`Arshi Makīnin possessor of mighty power, having very high rank with the Owner of the Throne (Allah),[81.20] ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِين ٍ
Muţā`in Thamma 'Amīnin who is obeyed in heaven, and is trustworthy.[81.21] مُطَاع ٍ ثَمَّ أَمِين ٍ
Wa Mā Şāĥibukum Bimajnūnin O people of Makkah! Your companion has not gone mad;[81.22] وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُون ٍ
Wa Laqad Ra'āhu Bil-'Ufuqi Al-Mubīni he (Muhammad) indeed saw him (Gabriel) in the clear horizon[81.23] وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ
Wa Mā Huwa `Alá Al-Ghaybi Biđanīnin and he is not stingy to withhold the knowledge of the unseen.[81.24] وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِين ٍ
Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shayţānin Rajīmin This (Qur’an) is not the word of an accursed Shaitمn.[81.25] وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَان ٍ رَجِيم ٍ
Fa'ayna Tadh/habūna Where then are you going?[81.26] فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ
'In Huwa 'Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna This is but a Message to all the people of the world,[81.27] إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكْر ٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Liman Shā'a Minkum 'An Yastaqīma to each one who wishes to follow the Right Way.[81.28] لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ
Wa Mā Tashā'ūna 'Illā 'An Yashā'a Al-Lahu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna Yet your wishes are of no avail unless Allah, the Rabb of the worlds, pleases so.[81.29] وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
