80) Sūrat `Abasa | Printed format | 80) سُورَة عَبَسَ |
| `Abasa Wa Tawallá | He (the Prophet) frowned and turned away[80.1] | عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى |
| 'An Jā'ahu Al-'A`má | when there came to him the blind man (Ibn Umme Maktüm, who came to the Prophet and interrupted his conversation with the chiefs of Makkah).[80.2] | أَنْ جَاءَهُ الأَعْمَى |
| Wa Mā Yudrīka La`allahu Yazzakká | How could you tell? He might have sought to purify himself[80.3] | وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُُيَزَّكَّى |
| 'Aw Yadhdhakkaru Fatanfa`ahu Adh-Dhikrá | or become reminded and might have benefited from Our reminder.[80.4] | أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى |
| 'Ammā Mani Astaghná | As for him who is indifferent,[80.5] | أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى |
| Fa'anta Lahu Taşaddá | to whom you were attending;[80.6] | فَأَنْتَ لَهُُتَصَدَّى |
| Wa Mā `Alayka 'Allā Yazzakká | you will not be held responsible if he would not purify himself.[80.7] | وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلاَّ يَزَّكَّى |
| Wa 'Ammā Man Jā'aka Yas`á | Yet to him who came to you with zeal on his own[80.8] | وَأَمَّا مَنْ جَاءَكَ يَسْعَى |
| Wa Huwa Yakhshá | and with fear of Allah in his heart,[80.9] | وَهُوَ يَخْشَى |
| Fa'anta `Anhu Talahhá | you gave no heed.[80.10] | فَأَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّى |
| Kallā 'Innahā Tadhkirahun | It should not be so! Indeed, this is but an admonition;[80.11] | كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ |
| Faman Shā'a Dhakarahu | let him who wants, accept it.[80.12] | فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ |
| Fī Şuĥufin Mukarramahin | It is written in scrolls, which are honored,[80.13] | فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرَّمَةٍ |
| Marfū`atin Muţahharahin | exalted, purified,[80.14] | مَرْفُوعَةٍ مُطَهَّرَةٍ |
| Bi'aydī Safarahin | and which remain in the hands of scribes,[80.15] | بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ |
| Kirāmin Bararahin | who are noble and virtuous.[80.16] | كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ |
| Qutila Al-'Insānu Mā 'Akfarahu | Woe to man! What a disbeliever he is![80.17] | قُتِلَ الإِنْسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ |
| Min 'Ayyi Shay'in Khalaqahu | Out of what Allah has created him?[80.18] | مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ |
| Min Nuţfatin Khalaqahu Faqaddarahu | Out of a semen-drop! Allah created him and then fashioned him in due proportion,[80.19] | مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُُفَقَدَّرَهُ |
| Thumma As-Sabīla Yassarahu | then makes his way of life smooth for him,[80.20] | ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ |
| Thumma 'Amātahu Fa'aqbarahu | then causes him to die and stows him in a grave.[80.21] | ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُُفَأَقْبَرَهُ |
| Thumma 'Idhā Shā'a 'Ansharahu | Then He will surely bring him back to life when He pleases.[80.22] | ثُمَّ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْشَرَهُ |
| Kallā Lammā Yaqđi Mā 'Amarahu | By no means has he fulfilled the duty that Allah had assigned him.[80.23] | كَلاَّ لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَا أَمَرَهُ |
| Falyanžuri Al-'Insānu 'Ilá Ţa`āmihi | Let man reflect on the food he eats,[80.24] | فَلْيَنْظُرِ الإِنسَانُ إِلَى طَعَامِهِ |
| 'Annā Şababnā Al-Mā'a Şabbāan | How We pour down rainwater in abundance[80.25] | أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا الْمَاءَ صَبّاً |
| Thumma Shaqaqnā Al-'Arđa Shaqqāan | and cleave the soil asunder.[80.26] | ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الأَرْضَ شَقّاً |
| Fa'anbatnā Fīhā Ĥabbāan | How We bring forth grain,[80.27] | فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبّاً |
| Wa `Inabāan Wa Qađbāan | grapes and nutritious vegetation;[80.28] | وَعِنَباً وَقَضْباً |
| Wa Zaytūnāan Wa Nakhlāan | olives and dates,[80.29] | وَزَيْتُوناً وَنَخْلاً |
| Wa Ĥadā'iqa Ghulbāan | lush gardens,[80.30] | وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْباً |
| Wa Fākihatan Wa 'Abbāan | fruits and fodder,[80.31] | وَفَاكِهَةً وَأَبّاً |
| Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum | as a means of sustenance for you and your cattle.[80.32] | مَتَاعاً لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ |
| Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aş-Şākhkhahu | Finally when there will come the deafening blast,[80.33] | فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الصَّاخَّةُ |
| Yawma Yafirru Al-Mar'u Min 'Akhīhi | on that Day each man shall flee from his own brother,[80.34] | يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ |
| Wa 'Ummihi Wa 'Abīhi | his mother and his father,[80.35] | وَأُمِّهِِ وَأَبِيهِ |
| Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa Banīhi | his wife and his children.[80.36] | وَصَاحِبَتِهِِ وَبَنِيهِ |
| Likulli Amri'in Minhum Yawma'idhin Sha'nun Yughnīhi | For each one of them, on that Day, shall have enough concern of his own to make him indifferent to the others.[80.37] | لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ |
| Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Musfirahun | Some faces on that Day shall be shining,[80.38] | وُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُسْفِرَةٌ |
| Đāĥikatun Mustabshirahun | smiling and joyful.[80.39] | ضَاحِكَةٌ مُسْتَبْشِرَةٌ |
| Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin `Alayhā Ghabarahun | And some faces on that Day shall be dusty[80.40] | وَوُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ |
| Tarhaquhā Qatarahun | and veiled with darkness.[80.41] | تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ |
| 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Kafaratu Al-Fajarahu | These shall be the faces of the disbelieving wicked.[80.42] | أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْكَفَرَةُ الْفَجَرَةُ |
