'Innā 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi 'An 'Andhir Qawmaka Min Qabli 'An Ya'tiyahum `Adhābun 'Alīmun We sent Nh (Noah) to his people, saying: Give warning to your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."[71.1] ~
Qāla Yā Qawmi 'Innī Lakum Nadhīrun Mubīnun He said: O my People! I am sent towards you as a plain Warner.[71.2]
'Ani A`budū Al-Laha Wa Attaqūhu Wa 'Aţī`ūni Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.[71.3]
Yaghfir Lakum Min Dhunūbikum Wa Yu'uakhkhirkum 'Ilá 'Ajalin Musammáan 'Inna 'Ajala Al-Lahi 'Idhā Jā'a Lā Yu'uakhkharu Law Kuntum Ta`lamūna If you will do so, He will forgive you your sins and give you respite for an appointed term. The fact is that when the term given by Allah arrives, it cannot be deferred. If you could understand![71.4]
Qāla Rabbi 'Innī Da`awtu Qawmī Laylāan Wa Nahārāan After exhausting all his efforts Nh said: O Rabb! I have pleaded with my people night and day,[71.5]
Falam Yazid/hum Du`ā'ī 'Illā Firārāan but my plea has only added to their aversion.[71.6]
Wa 'Innī Kullamā Da`awtuhum Litaghfira Lahum Ja`alū 'Aşābi`ahum Fī 'Ādhānihim Wa Astaghshaw Thiyābahum Wa 'Aşarrū Wa Astakbarū Astikbārāan Each time I called on them to seek Your pardon, they thrust their fingers in their ears and drew their cloaks over their heads, persisting in sin and puffing themselves up with insolent pride.[71.7]
Thumma 'Innī Da`awtuhum Jihārāan I have called them aloud,[71.8]
Thumma 'Innī 'A`lantu Lahum Wa 'Asrartu Lahum 'Isrārāan appealed them openly in public and secretly in private,[71.9]
Faqultu Astaghfirū Rabbakum 'Innahu Kāna Ghaffārāan saying: Seek forgiveness of your Rabb, He is ever ready to forgive you.[71.10]
Yursili As-Samā'a `Alaykum Midrārāan He will send abundant rain for you from heaven,[71.11]
Wa Yumdidkum Bi'amwālin Wa Banīna Wa Yaj`al Lakum Jannātin Wa Yaj`al Lakum 'Anhārāan help you with wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and the flowing rivers.[71.12]
Mā Lakum Lā Tarjūna Lillahi Waqārāan What is the matter with you that you do not regard the greatness of Allah[71.13]
Wa Qad Khalaqakum 'Aţwārāan when He has created you in gradual stages?[71.14]
'Alam Taraw Kayfa Khalaqa Al-Lahu Sab`a Samāwātin Ţibāqāan Can you not see how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other,[71.15]
Wa Ja`ala Al-Qamara Fīhinna Nūrāan Wa Ja`ala Ash-Shamsa Sirājāan placing in them the moon as a light and the sun as a glorious lamp?[71.16]
Wa Allāhu 'Anbatakum Mina Al-'Arđi Nabātāan Allah has caused you to grow as a growth from the earth.[71.17]
Thumma Yu`īdukum Fīhā Wa Yukhrijukum 'Ikhrājāan He will return you to the same earth and then raise you back to life again on the Day of Resurrection?[71.18]
Wa Allāhu Ja`ala Lakumu Al-'Arđa Bisāţāan Allah has made the earth for you as a wide expanse[71.19]
Litaslukū Minhā Subulāan Fijājāan so that you may walk in its spacious paths."[71.20]
Qāla Nūĥun Rabbi 'Innahum `Aşawnī Wa Attaba`ū Man Lam Yazid/hu Māluhu Wa Waladuhu 'Illā Khasārāan Finally, Nh (Noah) submitted: O Rabb! My people have disobeyed me, and followed those chiefs whose wealth and children have added to them nothing but loss.[71.21] ~
Wa Makarū Makrāan Kubbārāan They have devised an outrageous plot,[71.22]
Wa Qālū Lā Tadharunna 'Ālihatakum Wa Lā Tadharunna Waddāan Wa Lā Suwā`āan Wa Lā Yaghūtha Wa Ya`ūqa Wa Nasrāan and said to each other: 'Do not leave your gods; especially Wadd, Suwa, Yaghs, Yaq and Nasr (the names of their idols).'[71.23]
Wa Qad 'Ađallū Kathīrāan Wa Lā Tazidi Až-Žālimīna 'Illā Đalālāan They have already misled many, so O Rabb, do not increase the wrongdoers in anything but deviation."[71.24]
Mimmā Khī'ātihim 'Ughriqū Fa'udkhilū Nārāan Falam Yajidū Lahum Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Anşārāan Because of their wrong doings they were drowned in the great flood and made to enter the fire. They found no one besides Allah to help them.[71.25]
Wa Qāla Nūĥun Rabbi Lā Tadhar `Alá Al-'Arđi Mina Al-Kāfirīna Dayyārāan As Nh had prayed: O Rabb! Do not leave a single unbeliever on the surface of the earth.[71.26]
'Innaka 'In Tadharhum Yuđillū `Ibādaka Wa Lā Yalidū 'Illā Fājirāan Kaffārāan For if You spare any of them, they will mislead your servants and beget none but wicked unbelievers.[71.27]
Rabbi Aghfir Lī Wa Liwālidayya Wa Liman Dakhala Baytiya Mu'umināan Wa Lilmu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Wa Lā Tazidi Až-Žālimīna 'Illā Tabārāan O Rabb! Forgive me, my parents and every true believer who seeks refuge in my house, and all believing men and believing women. As to the wrongdoers, grant them increase in nothing but destruction."[71.28]
