Sa'ala Sā'ilun Bi`adhābin Wāqi`in  | A questioner asked you about the punishment which is bound to happen.[70.1] | سَأَلَ سَائِل ٌ بِعَذَاب ٍ وَاقِع ٍ |
Lilkāfiryna Laysa Lahu Dāfi`un  | It is for the disbelievers and there is none to avert it.[70.2] | لِلْكَافِرينَ لَيْسَ لَه ُُ دَافِع ٌ |
Mina Al-Lahi Dhī Al-Ma`āriji  | It will come from Allah, the Owner of the Ways of Ascent.[70.3] | مِنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ |
Ta`ruju Al-Malā'ikatu Wa Ar-Rūĥu 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqdāruhu Khamsīna 'Alfa Sanahin  | The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a Day the measure of which is fifty thousand years.[70.4] | تَعْرُجُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْم ٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُه ُُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَة ٍ |
Fāşbir Şabrāan Jamīlāan  | Therefore, endure with graceful patience.[70.5] | فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرا ً جَمِيلا ً |
'Innahum Yarawnahu Ba`īdāan  | They see it (Day of Judgment) to be far-off:[70.6] | إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَه ُُ بَعِيدا ً |
Wa Narāhu Qarībāan  | but We see it quite near.[70.7] | وَنَرَاه ُُ قَرِيبا ً |
Yawma Takūnu As-Samā'u Kālmuhli  | On that Day, the sky shall become like molten brass[70.8] | يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ |
Wa Takūnu Al-Jibālu Kāl`ihni  | and the mountains like tufts of wool;[70.9] | وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ |
Wa Lā Yas'alu Ĥamīmun Ĥamīmāan  | even a close friend will not ask of his friend,[70.10] | وَلاَ يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيما ً |
Yubaşşarūnahum Yawaddu Al-Mujrimu Law Yaftadī Min `Adhābi Yawmi'idhin Bibanīhi  | though they will see each other. To save himself from the punishment of that Day, the culprit (disbeliever) will wish to give his children,[70.11] | يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذ ٍ بِبَنِيهِ |
Wa Şāĥibatihi Wa 'Akhīhi  | his wife, his brother,[70.12] | وَصَاحِبَتِه ِِ وَأَخِيهِ |
Wa Faşīlatihi Allatī Tu'uwyhi  | his relatives - who gave him shelter - [70.13] | وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْويهِ |
Wa Man Fī Al-'Arđi Jamī`āan Thumma Yunjīhi  | and all that is in the earth, in ransom to save himself.[70.14] | وَمَنْ فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعا ً ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ |
Kallā 'Innahā Lažá  | By no means! It will be the fire of hell,[70.15] | كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا لَظَى |
Nazzā`atan Lilshshawá  | eager to pluck out his skull,[70.16] | نَزَّاعَة ً لِلشَّوَى |
Tad`ū Man 'Adbara Wa Tawallá  | it will be calling all those who try to escape and turn their back,[70.17] | تَدْعُوا مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى |
Wa Jama`a Fa'aw`á  | who collected wealth and withheld it.[70.18] | وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَى |
'Inna Al-'Insāna Khuliqa Halū`āan  | Indeed, man has been created impatient,[70.19] | إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعا ً |
'Idhā Massahu Ash-Sharru Jazū`āan  | when evil befalls him, he becomes despondent;[70.20] | إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعا ً |
Wa 'Idhā Massahu Al-Khayru Manū`āan  | but when blessed with good fortune, he becomes stingy;[70.21] | وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعا ً |
'Illā Al-Muşallīna  | with the exception of those who offer the Salah (prayer),[70.22] | إِلاَّ الْمُصَلِّينَ |
Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Dā'imūna  | remain steadfast in their Salah (prayer),[70.23] | الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Fī 'Amwālihim Ĥaqqun Ma`lūmun  | set aside a due share in their wealth[70.24] | وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقّ ٌ مَعْلُوم ٌ |
Lilssā'ili Wa Al-Maĥrūmi  | for the beggars and the deprived,[70.25] | لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yuşaddiqūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni  | accept the truth of the Day of Judgment,[70.26] | وَالَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Min `Adhābi Rabbihim Mushfiqūna  | dread the punishment of their Rabb[70.27] | وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ |
'Inna `Adhāba Rabbihim Ghayru Ma'mūnin  | - for none is secure from the punishment of their Rabb -[70.28] | إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُون ٍ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Lifurūjihim Ĥāfižūna  | and guard their private parts,[70.29] | وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ |
'Illā `Alá 'Azwājihim 'Aw Mā Malakat 'Aymānuhum Fa'innahum Ghayru Malūmīna  | except from their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for in their case they are not blameworthy.[70.30] | إِلاَّ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ |
Famani Abtaghá Warā'a Dhālika Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-`Ādūna  | As for those who seek to go beyond this, they are transgressors.[70.31] | فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Li'mānātihim Wa `Ahdihim Rā`ūna  | Those who keep their trusts and honor their promises,[70.32] | وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Bishahādātihim Qā'imūna  | who stand firm in their testimonies[70.33] | وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum `Alá Şalātihim Yuĥāfižūna  | and strictly guard their Salah (prayers).[70.34] | وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ |
'Ūlā'ika Fī Jannātin Mukramūna  | It is they who shall live with honor in paradise.[70.35] | أُوْلَائِكَ فِي جَنَّات ٍ مُكْرَمُونَ |
Famāli Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Qibalaka Muhţi`īna  | What is the matter with the disbelievers that they are rushing towards you,[70.36] | فَمَالِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ |
`Ani Al-Yamīni Wa `Ani Ash-Shimāli `Izīna  | from the right and from the left, in groups?[70.37] | عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ |
'Ayaţma`u Kullu Amri'in Minhum 'An Yudkhala Jannata Na`īmin  | Are they each seeking to enter the garden of bliss?[70.38] | أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئ ٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيم ٍ |
Kallā 'Innā Khalaqnāhum Mimmā Ya`lamūna  | By no means! Surely, We have created them out of that what they (unbelievers) know.[70.39] | كَلاَّ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ |
Falā 'Uqsimu Birabbi Al-Mashāriqi Wa Al-Maghāribi 'Innā Laqādirūna  | But nay! I swear by the Rabb of the easts and the wests, that We have the power[70.40] | فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ إِنَّا لَقَادِرُونَ |
`Alá 'An Nubaddila Khayrāan Minhum Wa Mā Naĥnu Bimasbūqīna  | to destroy them and replace them with others better than them, and nothing can hinder Us from doing so.[70.41] | عَلَى أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ خَيْرا ً مِنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ |
Fadharhum Yakhūđū Wa Yal`abū Ĥattá Yulāqū Yawmahumu Al-Ladhī Yū`adūna  | Therefore, leave them to plunge in vain talk and blunder about until they face that Day of theirs which they are being promised.[70.42] | فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلاَقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ |
Yawma Yakhrujūna Mina Al-'Ajdāthi Sirā`āan Ka'annahum 'Ilá Nuşubin Yūfiđūna  | The Day when they shall rush forward from their graves, as if they were racing towards a goal, with downcast eyes and countenances distorted with shame.[70.43] | يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعا ً كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَى نُصُب ٍ يُوفِضُونَ |
Khāshi`atan 'Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun Dhālika Al-Yawmu Al-Ladhī Kānū Yū`adūna  | Such will be the Day, which they are being promised.[70.44] | خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّة ٌ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ |
