Al-Ĥāqqahu  | The Hمqqah![69.1] | الْحَاقَّةُ |
Mā Al-Ĥāqqahu  | What is the Hمqqah?[69.2] | مَا الْحَاقَّةُ |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Al-Ĥāqqahu  | And what will make you understand what the Hمqqah is?[69.3] | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ |
Kadhdhabat Thamūdu Wa `Ādun Bil-Qāri`ahi  | The Thamüd and the ‘Ad people denied the striking calamity.[69.4] | كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَاد ٌ بِالْقَارِعَةِ |
Fa'ammā Thamūdu Fa'uhlikū Biţ-Ţāghiyahi  | As for Thamüd, they were destroyed by the Thunderbolt.[69.5] | فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ |
Wa 'Ammā `Ādun Fa'uhlikū Birīĥin Şarşarin `Ātiyahin  | As for 'Ad they were destroyed by a furious windstorm[69.6] | وَأَمَّا عَاد ٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيح ٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَة ٍ |
Sakhkharahā `Alayhim Sab`a Layālin Wa Thamāniyata 'Ayyāmin Ĥusūmāan Fatará Al-Qawma Fīhā Şar`á Ka'annahum 'A`jāzu Nakhlin Khāwiyahin  | - which He let loose on them for seven nights and eight successive days. Had you been there, you would have seen them lying prostrate as though they were hollow trunks of the palm-trees.[69.7] | سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَال ٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُوما ً فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَى كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَة ٍ |
Fahal Tará Lahum Min Bāqiyahin  | Now, do you see any of them alive?[69.8] | فَهَلْ تَرَى لَهُمْ مِنْ بَاقِيَة ٍ |
Wa Jā'a Fir`awnu Wa Man Qablahu Wa Al-Mu'utafikātu Bil-Khāţi'ahi  | Fir'on (Pharaoh) and those before him, and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities also committed similar sins[69.9] | وَجَاءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَنْ قَبْلَه ُُ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِ |
Fa`aşaw Rasūla Rabbihim Fa'akhadhahum 'Akhdhatan Rābiyahan  | and disobeyed the Rasools of their Rabb, so He gripped them with a tight grip.[69.10] | فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَة ً رَابِيَة ً |
'Innā Lammā Ţaghá Al-Mā'u Ĥamalnākum Fī Al-Jāriyahi  | Just consider the great flood of Nüh, when the water rose high, We carried you (O mankind) in the floating Ark,[69.11] | إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَى الْمَاءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي الْجَارِيَةِ |
Linaj`alahā Lakum Tadhkiratan Wa Ta`iyahā 'Udhunun Wā`iyahun  | that We may make that event a warning for you so that all attentive ears may retain its memory.[69.12] | لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَة ً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُن ٌ وَاعِيَة ٌ |
Fa'idhā Nufikha Fī Aş-Şūri Nafkhatun Wāĥidahun  | As for the dooms- day, it shall come, when the Trumpet will be blown with a single blast[69.13] | فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَة ٌ وَاحِدَة ٌ |
Wa Ĥumilati Al-'Arđu Wa Al-Jibālu Fadukkatā Dakkatan Wāĥidahan  | and the earth with all its mountains will be lifted up and crushed into pieces with a single stroke[69.14] | وَحُمِلَتِ الأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّة ً وَاحِدَة ً |
Fayawma'idhin Waqa`ati Al-Wāqi`ahu  | - On that day the Great Event will come to pass,[69.15] | فَيَوْمَئِذ ٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ |
Wa Anshaqqati As-Samā'u Fahiya Yawma'idhin Wa Ahiyahun  | heaven shall split asunder, and the day shall seem flimsy.[69.16] | وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ وَاهِيَة ٌ |
Wa Al-Malaku `Alá 'Arjā'ihā Wa Yaĥmilu `Arsha Rabbika Fawqahum Yawma'idhin Thamāniyahun  | The angels will stand all around and eight of them will be carrying the Throne of your Rabb above them.[69.17] | وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَى أَرْجَائِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ ثَمَانِيَة ٌ |
Yawma'idhin Tu`rađūna Lā Takhfá Minkum Khāfiyahun  | That shall be the day when you will be brought before your Rabb, and none of your secrets shall remain hidden.[69.18] | يَوْمَئِذ ٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لاَ تَخْفَى مِنْكُمْ خَافِيَة ٌ |
Fa'ammā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Biyamīnihi Fayaqūlu Hā'uum Aqra'ū Kitābī  | Then he, who will be given his Book of Deeds in his right hand, will say: “Here it is, read my Book of deeds!”[69.19] | فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَه ُُ بِيَمِينِه ِِ فَيَقُولُ هَاؤُمْ اقْرَءُوا كِتَابِي |
'Innī Žanantu 'Annī Mulāqin Ĥisābiyah  | I knew that I would certainly face my reckoning."[69.20] | إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلاَقٍ حِسَابِيَه |
Fahuwa Fī `Īshatin Rāđiyahin  | So he will have a life of pleasure,[69.21] | فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَة ٍ رَاضِيَة ٍ |
Fī Jannatin `Āliyahin  | in a lofty garden,[69.22] | فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَة ٍ |
Quţūfuhā Dāniyahun  | with clusters of fruit within his reach.[69.23] | قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَة ٌ |
Kulū Wa Ashrabū Hanī'āan Bimā 'Aslaftum Fī Al-'Ayyāmi Al-Khāliyahi  | We shall say to him: “Eat and drink to your heart's content; this is a reward for what you did in the days gone by."[69.24] | كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئا ً بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ |
Wa 'Ammā Man 'Ūtiya Kitābahu Bishimālihi Fayaqūlu Yā Laytanī Lam 'Ūta Kitābīh  | While he, who will be given his Book of Deeds in his left hand, will say: “Woe to me, would that I had not been given my Book of Deeds[69.25] | وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَه ُُ بِشِمَالِه ِِ فَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيهْ |
Wa Lam 'Adri Mā Ĥisābīh  | nor known what my account was![69.26] | وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيهْ |
Yā Laytahā Kānati Al-Qāđiyaha  | Would that my death had ended all![69.27] | يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَةَ |
Mā 'Aghná `Annī Mālīh  | My wealth had availed me nothing,[69.28] | مَا أَغْنَى عَنِّي مَالِيهْ |
Halaka `Annī Sulţānīh  | and my authority has gone away from me."[69.29] | هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلْطَانِيهْ |
Khudhūhu Faghullūhu  | We shall say: “Seize him and put a chain around his neck,[69.30] | خُذُوه ُُ فَغُلُّوهُ |
Thumma Al-Jaĥīma Şallūhu  | then cast him in the blazing fire,[69.31] | ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ |
Thumma Fī Silsilatin Dhar`uhā Sab`ūna Dhirā`āan Fāslukūhu  | then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long.[69.32] | ثُمَّ فِي سِلْسِلَة ٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعا ً فَاسْلُكُوهُ |
'Innahu Kāna Lā Yu'uminu Bil-Lahi Al-`Ažīmi  | For he did not believe in Allah, the Most High,[69.33] | إِنَّه ُُ كَانَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ |
Wa Lā Yaĥuđđu `Alá Ţa`āmi Al-Miskīni  | nor did he care to feed the poor.[69.34] | وَلاَ يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ |
Falaysa Lahu Al-Yawma Hāhunā Ĥamīmun  | Today he neither has a true friend here,[69.35] | فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيم ٌ |
Wa Lā Ţa`āmun 'Illā Min Ghislīnin  | nor any food except the pus from the washing of wounds,[69.36] | وَلاَ طَعَام ٌ إِلاَّ مِنْ غِسْلِين ٍ |
Lā Ya'kuluhu 'Illā Al-Khāţi'ūna  | which none but the wrongdoers eat."[69.37] | لاَ يَأْكُلُهُ~ُ إِلاَّ الْخَاطِئُونَ |
Falā 'Uqsimu Bimā Tubşirūna  | Nay! I swear by all that you can see,[69.38] | فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ |
Wa Mā Lā Tubşirūna  | and all that you cannot see,[69.39] | وَمَا لاَ تُبْصِرُونَ |
'Innahu Laqawlu Rasūlin Karīmin  | that this is the word of a noble Rasool.[69.40] | إِنَّه ُُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُول ٍ كَرِيم ٍ |
Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Shā`irin Qalīlāan Mā Tu'uminūna  | It is not the word of a poet - little is it that you believe,[69.41] | وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِر ٍ قَلِيلا ً مَا تُؤْمِنُونَ |
Wa Lā Biqawli Kāhinin Qalīlāan Mā Tadhakkarūna  | - nor is it the word of a soothsayer - little admonition is that you take.[69.42] | وَلاَ بِقَوْلِ كَاهِن ٍ قَلِيلا ً مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ |
Tanzīlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna  | This is a revelation from the Rabb of the worlds.[69.43] | تَنزِيل ٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
Wa Law Taqawwala `Alaynā Ba`đa Al-'Aqāwīli  | Had he (Muhammad) invented false statements concerning Us,[69.44] | وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ الأَقَاوِيلِ |
La'akhadhnā Minhu Bil-Yamīni  | We would certainly have seized him by his right hand[69.45] | لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْيَمِينِ |
Thumma Laqaţa`nā Minhu Al-Watīna  | then cut off his main artery,[69.46] | ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ |
Famā Minkum Min 'Aĥadin `Anhu Ĥājizīna  | and none of you could prevent it![69.47] | فَمَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَاجِزِينَ |
Wa 'Innahu Latadhkiratun Lilmuttaqīna  | Surely this Qur’an is a reminder to the Godfearing.[69.48] | وَإِنَّه ُُ لَتَذْكِرَة ٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ |
Wa 'Innā Lana`lamu 'Anna Minkum Mukadhdhibīna  | We know that there are some among you who deny it,[69.49] | وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُكَذِّبِينَ |
Wa 'Innahu Laĥasratun `Alá Al-Kāfirīna  | and for such disbelievers it is indeed a cause of despair.[69.50] | وَإِنَّه ُُ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ |
Wa 'Innahu Laĥaqqu Al-Yaqīni  | Yet surely it is the absolute truth.[69.51] | وَإِنَّه ُُ لَحَقُّ الْيَقِينِ |
Fasabbiĥ Biāsmi Rabbika Al-`Ažīmi  | So glorify the name of your Rabb, the Most High.[69.52] | فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ |
