Al-Ĥā qqah u       The Hمqqah![69.1]   ا لْحَا قَّةُ  
   Mā A l-Ĥā qqah u       What is the Hمqqah?[69.2]   مَا ا لْحَا قَّةُ   
    Wa Mā  'Ad rā ka Mā A l-Ĥā qqah u       And what will make you understand what the Hمqqah is?[69.3]   وَمَا  أَد ْرَا كَ مَا ا لْحَا قَّةُ   
   Kadh dh abat  Th amū du Wa `Ā dun   Bil-Qār i`ah i       The Thamüd and the ‘Ad people denied the striking calamity.[69.4]   كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُو دُ وَعَا دٌ  بِا لْقَار ِعَةِ   
   Fa'amm ā Th amū du Fa'uhlikū Biţ -Ţāgh iyah i       As for Thamüd, they were destroyed by the Thunderbolt.[69.5]   فَأَمَّ ا ثَمُو دُ فَأُهْلِكُوا  بِا ل طَّاغِيَةِ   
    Wa 'Amm ā `Ā dun  Fa'uhlikū Bir īĥin  Şarşar in `Ātiyah in       As for 'Ad they were destroyed by a furious windstorm[69.6]   وَأَمَّ ا عَا دٌ  فَأُهْلِكُوا  بِر ِي حٍ  صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ    
   Sakh kh arahā `Alayhim  Sab `a Layā lin  Wa Th amāniyata 'Ayyā min Ĥusūmāan  Fatará A l-Qawma Fīhā Şar`á Ka'ann ahum  'A`jā zu Nakh lin Kh āwiyah in       - which He let loose on them for seven nights and eight successive days. Had you been there, you would have seen them lying prostrate as though they were hollow trunks of the palm-trees.[69.7]   سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْ عَ لَيَا لٍ  وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّا مٍ حُسُوماً فَتَرَى ا لْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَى كَأَنَّ هُمْ أَعْجَا زُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ    
   Fahal Tará Lahum  Min   Bāqiyah in       Now, do you see any of them alive?[69.8]   فَهَلْ تَرَى لَهُم ْ مِن ْ بَاقِيَةٍ    
    Wa Jā 'a Fir `awnu Wa Man  Qab lahu  Wa A l-Mu'utafikā tu Bil-Kh āţi'ah i       Fir'on (Pharaoh) and those before him, and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities also committed similar sins[69.9]   وَجَا ءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن ْ قَبْ لَهُُوَالْمُؤْتَفِكَا تُ بِا لْخَاطِئَةِ   
   Fa`aşaw Rasū la Rabbihim  Fa'akh adh ahum  'Akh dh atan  Rābiyah an       and disobeyed the Rasools of their Rabb, so He gripped them with a tight grip.[69.10]   فَعَصَوْا رَسُو لَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَة ً  رَابِيَةً   
   'Inn ā Lamm ā Ţagh á A l-Mā 'u Ĥamalnākum  Fī A l-Jār iyah i       Just consider the great flood of Nüh, when the water rose high, We carried you (O mankind) in the floating Ark,[69.11]   إِنَّ ا لَمَّ ا طَغَى ا لْمَا ءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي ا لْجَار ِيَةِ   
   Linaj `alahā Lakum  Tadh kiratan  Wa Ta`iyahā  'Udh unun  Wā`iyah un       that We may make that event a warning for you so that all attentive ears may retain its memory.[69.12]   لِنَجْ عَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً  وَتَعِيَهَا  أُذُنٌ  وَاعِيَةٌ   
   Fa'idh ā Nufikh a Fī A ş-Şū r i Nafkh atun  Wāĥidah un       As for the dooms- day, it shall come, when the Trumpet will be blown with a single blast[69.13]   فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ا ل صُّو ر ِ نَفْخَةٌ  وَاحِدَةٌ   
    Wa Ĥumilati A l-'Arđu Wa A l-Jibā lu Fadukkatā Dakkatan  Wāĥidah an       and the earth with all its mountains will be lifted up and crushed into pieces with a single stroke[69.14]   وَحُمِلَتِ ا لأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَا لُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً  وَاحِدَةً   
   Fayawma'idh in  Waqa`ati A l-Wāqi`ah u       - On that day the Great Event will come to pass,[69.15]   فَيَوْمَئِذٍ  وَقَعَتِ ا لْوَاقِعَةُ   
    Wa A n sh aqqati A s-Samā 'u Fahiya  Yawma'idh in  Wa A h un       heaven shall split asunder, and the day shall seem flimsy.[69.16]   وَان شَقَّتِ ا ل سَّمَا ءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ  وَاهِيَةٌ   
   Wa A l-Malaku `Alá  'Arjā 'ihā Wa Yaĥmilu `Arsh a Rabbika Fawqahum  Yawma'idh in  Th amāniyah un       The angels will stand all around and eight of them will be carrying the Throne of your Rabb above them.[69.17]   وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَى  أَرْجَائِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ  ثَمَانِيَةٌ   
   Yawma'idh in  Tu`rađū na Lā Takh fá Min kum  Kh āfiyah un       That shall be the day when you will be brought before your Rabb, and none of your secrets shall remain hidden.[69.18]   يَوْمَئِذٍ  تُعْرَضُو نَ لاَ تَخْفَى مِنْ كُمْ خَافِيَةٌ   
   Fa'amm ā Man 'Ū tiya Kitābahu  Biyamīnihi  Fayaqū lu Hā 'uum  A q ra'ū  Kitābī      Then he, who will be given his Book of Deeds in his right hand, will say: “Here it is, read my Book of deeds!”[69.19]   فَأَمَّ ا مَنْ أُ وتِيَ كِتَابَهُُبِيَمِينِهِِ فَيَقُو لُ هَاؤُمْ ا قْ رَءُ وا كِتَابِي   
   'Inn ī Žanan tu 'Ann ī Mulā qin Ĥisābiyah      I knew that I would certainly face my reckoning."[69.20]   إِنِّ ي ظَنَن تُ أَنِّ ي مُلاَقٍ حِسَابِيَه   
   Fahuwa Fī `Īsh atin  Rāđiyah in       So he will have a life of pleasure,[69.21]   فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ  رَاضِيَةٍ    
   Fī Jann atin `Āliyah in       in a lofty garden,[69.22]   فِي جَنَّ ةٍ عَالِ يَةٍ    
   Quţūfuhā Dāniyah un       with clusters of fruit within his reach.[69.23]   قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ   
   Kulū Wa A sh rabū Hanī 'ā an   Bimā  'Aslaftum  Fī A l-'Ayyā mi A l-Kh āliyah i       We shall say to him: “Eat and drink to your heart's content; this is a reward for what you did in the days gone by."[69.24]   كُلُوا  وَاشْرَبُوا  هَنِيئاً  بِمَا  أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي ا لأَيَّا مِ ا لْخَالِيَةِ   
    Wa 'Amm ā Man 'Ū tiya Kitābahu  Bish imālihi  Fayaqū lu Yā Laytanī Lam  'Ū ta Kitābīh      While he, who will be given his Book of Deeds in his left hand, will say: “Woe to me, would that I had not been given my Book of Deeds[69.25]   وَأَمَّ ا مَنْ أُ وتِيَ كِتَابَهُُبِشِمَالِهِِ فَيَقُو لُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُو تَ كِتَابِيهْ   
    Wa Lam  'Ad r i Mā Ĥisābīh      nor known what my account was![69.26]   وَلَمْ أَد ْر ِ مَا حِسَابِيهْ   
   Yā Laytahā Kānati A l-Qāđiyah a       Would that my death had ended all![69.27]   يَا لَيْتَهَا كَا ا لْقَاضِيَةَ   
   Mā  'Agh n á `Ann ī Mālīh      My wealth had availed me nothing,[69.28]   مَا  أَغْنَى عَنِّ ي مَالِ يهْ   
   Halaka `Ann ī Sulţānīh      and my authority has gone away from me."[69.29]   هَلَكَ عَنِّ ي سُلْطَانِيهْ   
   Kh udh ū hu  Fagh ullū hu      We shall say: “Seize him and put a chain around his neck,[69.30]   خُذُو هُُفَغُلُّو هُ   
   Th umm a A l-Jaĥī ma Şallū hu      then cast him in the blazing fire,[69.31]   ثُمّ َ ا لْجَحِي مَ صَلُّو هُ   
   Th umm a Fī Silsilatin  Dh ar`uhā Sab `ū na Dh irā`āan  Fāslukū hu      then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long.[69.32]   ثُمّ َ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ  ذَرْعُهَا سَبْ عُو نَ ذِرَاعاً فَا سْلُكُو هُ   
   'Inn ahu Kā na Lā Yu'uminu Bil-Lahi A l-`Ažī mi       For he did not believe in Allah, the Most High,[69.33]   إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ بِا ل لَّهِ ا لْعَظِي مِ   
    Wa Lā Yaĥuđđu `Alá Ţa`ā mi A l-Miskī ni       nor did he care to feed the poor.[69.34]   وَلاَ يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَا مِ ا لْمِسْكِي نِ   
   Falaysa Lahu A l-Yawma Hāhunā Ĥamī mun       Today he neither has a true friend here,[69.35]   فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ا لْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِي مٌ   
    Wa Lā Ţa`ā mun 'Illā Min Gh islī nin       nor any food except the pus from the washing of wounds,[69.36]   وَلاَ طَعَا مٌ إِلاَّ مِنْ غِسْلِي نٍ    
   Lā Ya'kuluhu  'Illā A l-Kh āţi'ū na       which none but the wrongdoers eat."[69.37]   لاَ يَأْكُلُهُ~ ُ إِلاَّ ا لْخَاطِئُو نَ   
   Falā  'Uq simu Bimā Tub şirū na       Nay! I swear by all that you can see,[69.38]   فَلاَ أُقْ سِمُ بِمَا تُبْ صِرُو نَ   
    Wa Mā Lā Tub şirū na       and all that you cannot see,[69.39]   وَمَا لاَ تُبْ صِرُو نَ   
   'Inn ahu  Laqawlu Rasū lin  Kar ī min       that this is the word of a noble Rasool.[69.40]   إِنَّ هُُلَقَوْلُ رَسُو لٍ  كَر ِي مٍ    
    Wa Mā Huwa Biqawli Sh ā`ir  in  Qalīlāan  Mā Tu'uminū na       It is not the word of a poet - little is it that you believe,[69.41]   وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ  قَلِيلاً  مَا تُؤْمِنُو نَ   
    Wa Lā Biqawli Kāhinin  Qalīlāan  Mā Tadh akkarū na       - nor is it the word of a soothsayer - little admonition is that you take.[69.42]   وَلاَ بِقَوْلِ كَا ٍ  قَلِيلاً  مَا تَذَكَّرُو نَ   
   Tan zī lun  Min  Rabbi A l-`Ālamī na       This is a revelation from the Rabb of the worlds.[69.43]   تَن زِي لٌ  مِن ْ رَبِّ ا لْعَالَمِي نَ   
    Wa Law Taqawwala `Alaynā Ba`đa A l-'Aqāwī li       Had he (Muhammad) invented false statements concerning Us,[69.44]   وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ا لأَقَاوِي لِ   
   La'akh adh nā Minhu Bil-Yamī ni       We would certainly have seized him by his right hand[69.45]   لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِا لْيَمِي نِ   
   Th umm a Laqaţa`nā Minhu A l-Watī na      then cut off his main artery,[69.46]   ثُمّ َ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ا لْوَتِي نَ   
   Famā Min kum  Min 'Aĥadin `Anhu Ĥājizī na       and none of you could prevent it![69.47]   فَمَا مِنْ كُم ْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَاجِزِي نَ   
    Wa 'Inn ahu  Latadh kiratun  Lilmuttaqī na       Surely this Qur’an is a reminder to the Godfearing.[69.48]   وَإِنَّ هُُلَتَذْكِرَة ٌ  لِلْمُتَّقِي نَ   
    Wa 'Inn ā Lana`lamu 'Ann a Min kum  Mukadh dh ibī na       We know that there are some among you who deny it,[69.49]   وَإِنَّ ا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنّ َ مِنْ كُم ْ مُكَذِّبِي نَ   
    Wa 'Inn ahu  Laĥasratun `Alá A l-Kāfir ī na       and for such disbelievers it is indeed a cause of despair.[69.50]   وَإِنَّ هُُلَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ا لْكَافِر ِي نَ   
    Wa 'Inn ahu  Laĥaqqu A l-Yaqī ni       Yet surely it is the absolute truth.[69.51]   وَإِنَّ هُُلَحَقُّ ا لْيَقِي نِ   
   Fasabbiĥ Biāsmi Rabbika A l-`Ažī mi       So glorify the name of your Rabb, the Most High.[69.52]   فَسَبِّحْ بِا ا لْعَظِي مِ
