A q tarabati A s-Sā`atu Wa A n sh aqqa A l-Qamaru      
	The Hour of Doom is drawing near, the moon has 
	split asunder; which is a clear proof that the same thing can happen to 
	the earth .[ 54.1]    ا قْ تَرَبَتِ ا ل سَّاعَةُ وَانْ شَقَّ ا لْقَمَرُ  
    Wa 'In  Yaraw 'Ā yatan  Yu`r iđū Wa Yaqūlū Siĥrun  Mustamir run       
	Yet when they see a sign, the unbelievers turn 
	their backs and say: “This is an ingenious magic."[ 54.2]    وَإِن ْ يَرَوْا  آيَةً  يُعْر ِضُوا  وَيَقُولُوا  سِحْرٌ  مُسْتَمِرٌّ    
    Wa Kadh dh abū Wa A ū  'Ahwā 'ahum  Wa Kullu 'Am r in  Mustaqirrun       
	They deny this and keep on following their own 
	fancies. Ultimately every matter shall be laid to rest.[ 54.3]    وَكَذَّبُوا  وَاتَّبَعُو ا  أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ  مُسْتَقِرٌّ    
    Wa Laqad  Jā 'ahum  Mina A l-'An  bā 'i Mā Fī hi  Muzdajarun       
	There has already come to them the information
	of former nations  containing enough deterrents[ 54.4]    وَلَقَد ْ جَاءَهُم ْ مِنَ ا لأَنْ بَا ءِ مَا فِي هِِ مُزْدَجَرٌ    
   Ĥikmatun   Bāligh atun  Famā Tugh ni A n -Nudh uru       
	and profound wisdom to serve as a warning , 
	but warnings are of no use to these people.[ 54.5]    حِكْمَةٌ  بَالِ غَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ ا ل نُّ ذُرُ   
   Fatawalla `Anhum  Yawma Yad `u A d-Dā `i 'Ilá Sh ay'in  Nukur in       
	Therefore, O Prophet , let them be. On 
	the Day when the caller will call them to a terrible event.[ 54.6]
	    فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَد ْعُ ا ل دَّا عِ إِلَى شَيْءٍ  نُكُرٍ    
   Kh ush sh a`āan 'Ab şāruhum  Yakh rujū na Mina A l-'Aj dāth i Ka'ann ahum  Jarā dun  Mun tash ir un      
	shall come out from their graves, like 
	swarming locusts, with downcast eyes,[ 54.7]    خُشَّعاً أَبْ صَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُو نَ مِنَ ا لأَجْ دَا ثِ كَأَنَّ هُمْ جَرَا دٌ  مُن تَشِرٌ    
   Muhţi`ī na 'Ilá A d-Dā `i Yaqū lu A l-Kāfirū na Hādh ā Yawmun `Asir un       
	rushing towards the caller and the same 
	unbelievers will cry: “This is indeed an awful Day!”[ 54.8]
	    مُهْطِعِي نَ إِلَى ا ل دَّا عِ يَقُو لُ ا لْكَافِرُو نَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ    
   Kadh dh abat Qab lahum  Qawmu Nūĥin  Fakadh dh abū `Ab danā Wa Qālū Maj nū nun  Wa A zdujir a       Long before them, the people of Nüh (Noah) disbelieved. They rejected Our servant, called him a madman and drove him out.[54.9]   كَذَّبَتْ قَبْ لَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُو حٍ  فَكَذَّبُوا  عَبْ دَنَا وَقَالُوا  مَجْ نُو نٌ  وَازْدُجِر َ   
   Fada`ā Rabbahu  'Ann ī Magh lū bun  Fān taşir      After admonishing the people for 950 years, finally he cried out: “Help me, O Rabb, I have been overcome!”[54.10]   فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ~ ُ أَنِّ ي مَغْلُو بٌ فَا نْ تَصِرْ   
   Fafataĥnā  'Ab wā ba A s-Samā 'i Bimā 'in  Munhamir  in       So We opened the gates of heaven with pouring rain[54.11]   فَفَتَحْنَا  أَبْ وَا بَ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ بِمَا ءٍ  مُنْهَمِرٍ    
    Wa Fajjarnā A l-'Arđa `Uyūnāan  Fāltaqá A l-Mā 'u `Alá  'Am r in  Qad  Qudira       and caused the earth to burst with gushing springs, and the waters met to fulfill the decreed end.[54.12]   وَفَجَّرْنَا ا لأَرْضَ عُيُون اً فَا لْتَقَى ا لْمَا ءُ عَلَى  أَمْرٍ  قَد ْ قُدِر َ   
    Wa Ĥamalnā hu  `Alá Dh ā ti 'Alwāĥin  Wa Dusur in       We carried him in an Ark built with planks and nails,[54.13]   وَحَمَلْنَا هُُعَلَى ذَا تِ أَلْوَا حٍ  وَدُسُرٍ    
   Taj r ī Bi'a`yuninā Jazā 'an  Liman  Kā na Kufir a       which drifted on under Our care: a reward for him (Noah) who was denied by the unbelievers.[54.14]   تَجْ ر ِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَا ءً  لِمَن ْ كَا نَ كُفِر َ   
    Wa Laqad  Taraknāhā  'Ā yatan  Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       We have left that Ark as a sign, so is there any who would take admonition?[54.15]   وَلَقَد ْ تَرَكْنَاهَا  آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
   Fakayfa Kā na `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       How terrible was My scourge and how clear My warning![54.16]   فَكَيْفَ كَا نَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  Yassarnā A l-Qur'ā na Lildh dh ikr i Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       We have indeed made the Qur’an very easy to understand the admonition: but is there any who would take admonition?[54.17]   وَلَقَد ْ يَسَّرْنَا ا لْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْر ِ فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
   Kadh dh abat `Ā dun  Fakayfa Kā na `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       Likewise the people of 'Ad did not believe then how terrible was My scourge and how clear My Warning![54.18]   كَذَّبَتْ عَا دٌ  فَكَيْفَ كَا نَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
   'Inn ā  'Arsalnā `Alayhim  R īĥāan  Şarşarāan  Fī Yawmi Naĥsin  Mustamir r in       We let loose on them a tornado, on the day of their bitter misfortune,[54.19]   إِنَّ ا  أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ ر ِيحاً صَرْصَراً فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ  مُسْتَمِرٍّ    
   Tan zi`u A n -Nā sa Ka'ann ahum  'A`jā zu Nakh lin  Mun qa`ir  in       which snatched them off like trunks of uprooted palm-trees.[54.20]   تَن زِعُ ا ل نّ َا سَ كَأَنَّ هُمْ أَعْجَا زُ نَخْلٍ  مُنْ قَعِرٍ    
   Fakayfa Kā na `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       How terrible was My scourge and how clear My warning![54.21]   فَكَيْفَ كَا نَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  Yassarnā A l-Qur'ā na Lildh dh ikr i Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       We have indeed made the Qur’an very easy to understand the admonition, so is there any who would take admonition?[54.22]   وَلَقَد ْ يَسَّرْنَا ا لْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْر ِ فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
   Kadh dh abat  Th amū du Bin -Nudh ur i       The people of Thamüd disbelieved Our warning,[54.23]   كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُو دُ بِا ل نُّ ذُر ِ   
   Faqālū  'Abash arāan  Minn ā Wāĥidāan  Nattabi`uhu  'Inn ā  'Idh āan  Lafī Đalā lin  Wa Su`ur in       saying: "Are we to follow a human who stands alone among us? That would surely be an error and madness.[54.24]   فَقَالُو ا  أَبَشَراً  مِنَّ ا وَاحِداً  نَتَّبِعُهُ~ ُ إِنَّ ا  إِذاً  لَفِي ضَلاَلٍ  وَسُعُرٍ    
   'A'uulqiya A dh -Dh ikru `Alayhi Min   Bayninā Bal Huwa Kadh dh ā bun 'Ash ir un       Was he the only person among us to receive this warning? Nay! He is indeed an insolent liar."[54.25]   أَؤُلْقِيَ ا ل ذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن ْ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّا بٌ أَشِرٌ    
   Saya`lamū na Gh adāan  Mani A l-Kadh dh ā bu A l-'Ash ir u       To Our Rasool Saleh, We said: “Tomorrow they shall find out who is an insolent liar.[54.26]   سَيَعْلَمُو نَ غَداً  مَنِ ا لْكَذَّا بُ ا لأَشِر ُ  
   'Inn ā Mursilū A n -Nāqati Fitnatan  Lahum  Fārtaqib hum  Wa A      We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them. Therefore, watch them and have patience.[54.27]   إِنَّ ا مُرْسِلُو ا ل نَّ اقَةِ فِتْنَة ً  لَهُمْ فَا بْ هُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ   
    Wa Nabbi'hum  'Ann a A l-Mā 'a Qismatun   Baynahum  Kullu Sh ir bin  Muĥtađarun       Tell them that the water must be shared between them and the she-camel, and each will come to the water at its own turn.[54.28]   وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنّ َ ا لْمَا ءَ قِسْمَةٌ  بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ  مُحْتَضَرٌ    
   Fanādaw Şāĥibahum  Fata`āţá Fa`aqara       At last the people of Thamüd called out to one of their companions, who took the responsibility and hamstrung her.[54.29]   فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَى فَعَقَرَ   
   Fakayfa Kā na `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       Then how terrible was My scourge and how clear My warning![54.30]   فَكَيْفَ كَا نَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
   'Inn ā  'Arsalnā `Alayhim  Şayĥatan  Wāĥidatan  Fakānū Kahash ī mi A l-Muĥtažir  i       We let loose on them one mighty blast and they became like the trampled twigs used by a fence builder.[54.31]   إِنَّ ا  أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً  وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا  كَهَشِي مِ ا لْمُحْتَظِرِ   
    Wa Laqad  Yassarnā A l-Qur'ā na Lildh dh ikr i Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       We have indeed made the Qur’an very easy to understand the admonition, so is there any who would take admonition?[54.32]   وَلَقَد ْ يَسَّرْنَا ا لْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْر ِ فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
   Kadh dh abat Qawmu Lūţin   Bin -Nudh ur i       Another example is the people of Lüt (Lot) who disbelieved Our warning.[54.33]   كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُو طٍ  بِا ل نُّ ذُر ِ   
   'Inn ā  'Arsalnā `Alayhim  Ĥāşibāan 'Illā  'Ā la Lūţin  Najjaynāhum  Bisaĥar in       We let loose on them a stone-charged tornado which spared none except Lüt’s household, whom We saved by early dawn[54.34]   إِنَّ ا  أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِباً إِلاَّ آلَ لُو طٍ  نَجَّيْنَاهُم ْ بِسَحَرٍ    
   Ni`matan  Min `In dinā Kadh ālika Naj zī Man  Sh akara       through Our grace. Thus do We reward those who give thanks.[54.35]   نِعْمَةً  مِنْ عِنْ دِنَا كَذَلِكَ نَجْ زِي مَن ْ شَكَرَ   
    Wa Laqad  'An dh arahum  Baţ sh atanā Fatamāraw Bin -Nudh ur i       Lüt did warn them of Our scourge but they doubted his warnings.[54.36]   وَلَقَد ْ أَن ذَرَهُم ْ بَطْ شَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِا ل نُّ ذُر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  Rāwadū hu  `An  Đayfihi  Faţamasnā  'A`yunahum  Fadh ūqū `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       They even sought to snatch away his guests from him but We blinded their eyes, and said: “Now taste My punishment and the result of disbelieving My warning."[54.37]   وَلَقَد ْ رَاوَدُو هُُعَن ْ ضَيْفِهِِ فَطَمَسْنَا  أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا  عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  Şabbaĥahum  Bukratan `Adh ā bun  Mustaqirrun       At daybreak they were overtaken by a lasting punishment[54.38]   وَلَقَد ْ صَبَّحَهُم ْ بُكْرَةً عَذَا بٌ  مُسْتَقِرٌّ    
   Fadh ūqū `Adh ābī Wa Nudh ur i       as if to say: "Now taste My punishment and the result of disbelieving My warning."[54.39]   فَذُوقُوا  عَذَابِي وَنُذُر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  Yassarnā A l-Qur'ā na Lildh dh ikr i Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       We have indeed made the Qur’an very easy to understand the admonition, so is there any who would take admonition?[54.40]   وَلَقَد ْ يَسَّرْنَا ا لْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْر ِ فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
    Wa Laqad  Jā 'a 'Ā la Fir `awna A n -Nudh uru       My warnings also came to the people of Fir'on (Pharaoh).[54.41]   وَلَقَد ْ جَا ءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ ا ل نُّ ذُرُ   
   Kadh dh abū Bi'ā yātinā Kullihā Fa'akh adh nāhum  'Akh dh a `Azī zin  Muq tadir in       They disbelieved all Our signs. Consequently, We seized them with a seizure of the Mighty, Powerful.[54.42]   كَذَّبُوا  بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِي زٍ  مُقْ تَدِرٍ    
   'Akuffārukum  Kh ayrun  Min 'Ū la'ikum  'Am  Lakum  Barā 'atun  Fī A z-Zubur i       O Qureysh, are your unbelievers better than they were, or have you been granted an immunity in the Sacred Books?[54.43]   أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ  مِنْ أُ وْلَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم ْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي ا ل زُّبُر ِ   
   'Am  Yaqūlū na Naĥnu Jamī `un  Mun taşirun       Or, do they say: “Acting together, we can defend ourselves?”[54.44]   أَمْ يَقُولُو نَ نَحْنُ جَمِي عٌ  مُنْ تَصِرٌ    
   Sayuhzamu A l-Jam `u Wa Yuwallū na A d-Dubura       Soon will their multitude be routed and put to flight.[54.45]   سَيُهْزَمُ ا لْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّو نَ ا ل دُّبُرَ   
   Bali A s-Sā`atu Maw`iduhum  Wa A s-Sā`atu 'Ad /há Wa 'Amarru       Nay! The Hour of Judgment is the time promised to deal with them. That hour will be the most grievous and bitter.[54.46]   بَلِ ا ل سَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَال سَّاعَةُ أَد ْهَى وَأَمَرُّ   
   'Inn a A l-Muj r imī na Fī Đalā lin  Wa Su`ur in       Yet, surely the wicked people persist in error and madness.[54.47]   إِنّ َ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمِي نَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ  وَسُعُرٍ    
   Yawma Yusĥabū na Fī A n -Nā r i `Alá Wujūhihim  Dh ūqū Massa  Saqara       On that Day when they will be dragged into the fire with their faces downwards, We shall say: "Feel the touch of hell!”[54.48]   يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُو نَ فِي ا ل نّ َا ر ِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا  مَسَّ سَقَرَ   
   'Inn ā Kulla Sh ay'in Kh alaq nā hu  Biqadar in       Surely We have created everything in perfect ordainment (destiny and purpose).[54.49]   إِنَّ ا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْ نَا هُُبِقَدَرٍ    
    Wa Mā  'Am runā  'Illā Wāĥidatun  Kalam ĥin   Bil-Başar i       We command but once and Our will is done in the twinkling of an eye.[54.50]   وَمَا  أَمْرُنَا  إِلاَّ وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ  بِا لْبَصَر ِ   
    Wa Laqad  'Ahlaknā  'Ash yā`akum  Fahal Min  Muddakir  in       O disbelievers, We have already destroyed many like you. Will you not take admonition?[54.51]   وَلَقَد ْ أَهْلَكْنَا  أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن ْ مُدَّكِرٍ    
    Wa Kullu Sh ay'in  Fa`alū hu Fī A z-Zubur i       All that they do is being added to their record books:[54.52]   وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ  فَعَلُو هُُفِي ا ل زُّبُر ِ   
    Wa Kullu Şagh ī r  in  Wa Kabī r  in  Mustaţarun       every action, small and big is being noted down.[54.53]   وَكُلُّ صَغِي رٍ  وَكَبِي رٍ  مُسْتَطَرٌ    
   'Inn a A l-Muttaqī na Fī Jann ā tin  Wa Nahar in       Surely the righteous will be in the midst of gardens and rivers,[54.54]   إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ فِي جَنّ َا تٍ  وَنَهَرٍ    
   Fī Maq `adi Şid qin `In da Malī kin  Muq tadir in       a place of true honor, in the presence of Almighty Sovereign.[54.55]   فِي مَقْ عَدِ صِد ْقٍ عِنْ دَ مَلِي كٍ  مُقْ تَدِرٍ
